HOPE Talks

Today we are joined on Hope Talks by Rachel Hinz. Rachel grow in a farm family in eastern Pennsylvania. She came to the valley to study at Eastern Mennonite College at the time. Rachel met her husband; who is originally from Germany; in the valley on a group hike and have lived in the valley ever since. Rachel has three grown children and joins us today to share her testimony with us.

Today we are joined on Hope Talks by Pastor Jim Harrison as he reflects back over the years of serving in Pastoral ministry including the last 24 years serving as a shepherding pastor at Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg as well sharing about how he plans to continue to serve even after retiring from full-time ministry.

Best Week Ever took place June 27-July 3rd. We did service projects in Harrisonburg, Elkton and Rockingham County. Some of the nonprofits that that we served were Open Doors, Habitat for Humanity, Stone Haven, Hope Distributed, Kids Harbor, EAUS, The Boys and Girls Club in Elkton, Skyline Literacy, First Responders and Law Enforcement as well as some schools in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

Joel Ballew is the Executive Director at Open Doors. Open Doors is a non-profit that ministers to the homeless in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Open Doors is also one of the non-profits that we partner with in our community. Joel joins us on Hope Talks today to share with us about the services that Open Doors offers.

Debbie Huntley joined Pastor Margaret Michael and Grayson Willis on today's broadcast of Hope Talks to talk with us about Hope and how important that it is as Christians TO share that hope with others around us.

Penny Wilhelm was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She was adopted as a baby. Penny moved to the valley about ten years ago. Penny serves in Celebrate Recovery and joins us on Hope Talks today to share her testimony with us.

Pastor Kerry Willis joins us on Hope Talks on this Fathers Day! He reflected back over the 60 years of his life as a man, son and 34 years as a father. He shared memories and things that he has learned over the years.

Rodolfo was born in Honduras. We he was four years old he and his family moved to New Orleans. Rodolfo also lived in Arlington, Virginia as well as Texas before his family moved to Harrisonburg in 2000. Rodolfo attends Esperanza Viva church of the Nazarene with his wife and children. Rodolfo joins us on Hope Talks today to share his testimony with us.

Jessica Crawford was born and raised in Bridgewater, Virginia and is currently serving as Worship Arts Pastor at New Beginnings Church. Jessica joins us on Hope Talks today to share her testimony and how God has brought Hope and healing in her life after going through a divorce 12 years ago.

Brad and Teresa are originally from West Virginia, Teresa from Sugar Grove and Brad from Franklin. They met in High School and have been married for 35 years. Brad & Teresa now live in the Shenandoah Valley. They join us on Hope Talks today to share their testimony and how God has brought Hope and healing though Brad battle and journey with Covid.

Romualdo grew up in a small town in Mexico. He serves in Celebrate Recovery and on the safety team at Iglesia Del Nazarieno Esperanza Viva campus and He joins us today on Hope Talks to share his testimony.

Jason Wagner was born and raised in Penn Laird, Virginia. He currently serves as a Chaplin at the Rockingham County Jail. He serves and is supported by Virginia Mennonite Missions as a state side missionary. Jason joins us on Hope Talks today to share his testimony with us.

Celia was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She moved to the US and to the Shenandoah Valley in 2004. She started attending Esperanza Viva campus at Church of the Nazarene with her two children in 2015. Celia shares about how God has changed her life and helped her raise her two kids as a single mother.

Ashley is from Kansas. She moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 2020. She joins us on Hope Talks today to share her testimony and how God has brought Beauty from Ashes after loosing her first husband and three of her kids in a house fire in April of 2011. Ashley’s testimony is a testimony of Hope in seemingly hopeless circumstances.

This broadcast originally played on March 17, 2019. Morgan was born in Nelson County, Virginia then his family moved to Waynesboro. Morgan is currently a junior at Bridgewater College. He started attending Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg when he was 11 years old. Morgan joins us on Hope Talks today to share his testimony with us today and about how God helped him through a very difficult time in his life when lost both of his parents from cancer back in 2012 when Morgan was 12 years old.

Shannon was born and raise in Keezletown, Virginia. Shannon lost his mom when he was four years old and his dad when he was 19 years old. Shannon joins us us on Hope Talks today to share his testimony and about how God has helping to deliver him from anxiety and depression.

This Program originally aired on Front Porch Talks on July 5, 2020. Stephanie was born and raised in Elkton, Virginia, where she has lived her entire life except for two years when she lived in Charlottesville, Virginia. Stephanie is the Director of Children’s Ministries for our East Rock campus for Church of the Nazarene. Steph joins us today on Hope Talks to share her Testimony and how God has brought joy in her life after a season of mourning the sudden and unexpected death of her husband Nick.

Today’s session is part 2 of Teaching Church that took place at Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg, Va. for a group of pastors and leaders from the Virginia District Church of the Nazarene. In part 2 of Teaching Church Pastor Adrian Mills invited Pastor Sam Montanez to come and share on understanding our powers and overcoming our deficits.

Today’s session is part 1 of Teaching Church that took place at Church of the Nazarene in Harrisonburg, Va. on Thursday morning March 18th for a group of pastors and leaders from the Virginia district church of the Nazarene. In part 1 of the Teaching Church Pastor Adrian Mills invited Sarah Kinzer to come and share a devotion from her book “Abide”.

Lewis was born and raised in Kansas. He and his son moved to Virginia in 2020 and his not wife joined them about two weeks later. Lewis joins us today to share how God has delivered him from a life of drug addition, how he is apart of Celebrate Recovery at Church of the Nazarene and hopes to be a leader in CR.
