Ep 14014 Small Living & Sustainable Design with Curtis and Christina
EI am honored to welcome design and small living experts Curtis and Christina Micklish to Bewitching the Home. In this episode, we talk about designing smaller spaces and how to make them more functional. We also talk about the choices we can make when building or remodeling our homes to reduce our footprint and protect our environment.Guest Bio Against their Real Estate agent's advice, Christina and Curtis bought a fixer with "good bones" 3 years into their unwed relationship. A 5 year renovation turned into 9 with the two realizing that 1,700 sq. ft. on nearly an acre of land was not the life they hoped for. They wanted a life of less that offered freedom to experience more. Letting it all go to live in a 425 sq. ft. Hillcrest treehouse made Curtis' recent project, Cayuca, an attainable and sustainable concept.Featured in this episodeFeatured candle: Beeswax candle from Mithras CandleFeatured brews: Nova Kombucha - Watermelon Lime and Little Dragon TeaFeatured Tarot deck: Inner Compass CardsCurtis' regular breath practice: Our Breath CollectiveEpisode Highlights02:48 - Card pull from Inner Compass Cards06:42 - The story of how Rachel met Curtis and Christina09:27 - What is home to Curtis and Christina, and what it was like to remodel and design their first purchased home together24:20 - How Curtis and Christina discovered the home they are in now30:52 - Curtis' current project building smaller but functional studio apartments39:34 - The choices Curtis made to ensure their spaces were built sustainably48:38 - The deconstruction process versus demolition57:56 - What rituals Curtis and Christina do to stay mindful and grounded01:04:07 - What's next for Curtis and ChristinaConnect with Christina and CurtisOn the web:Mollismollis.comUrbanistguide.comMicklish.comCayucahillcrest.comOn Instagram:@christinamicklish @urbanistguide @micklishstudioAre you looking for advice on the design of your space?
