Ep 59Ep59 - Lis Cashin: Overcoming Childhood Trauma

Let's face it. Being a teen ager isn't easy. We've all been there. But imagine facing the unthinkable at such an early age. A deadly accident that leaves you blaming yourself and receiving little to no support in order to heal and grow. That was Lis Cashin's story. An early childhood sporting event turned tragic and left her with feelings that no child should ever face. And the road to recovery was a challenging one, to say the least. But, somehow…resiliency of the human spirit got her through. But it was the determination and a desire to be better that created the space to heal. Today, her work as a speaker, author and mental health consultant is giving others the tools to heal and find their joy because as she puts it, "happiness is a choice". On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Lis not only shares her inspiring story of trauma to triumph, but leaves listeners with essential emotional health hacks that everyone should have in their mental health tool box to live a happy and healthy life. Connect with Lis on LinkedIn Facebook @LisCashinTalks Twitter and Instagram at @LisCashin You can also download a copy of her 15 minute well-being hacks to get you through challenging times. Ep 58Ep58 - Jill May: Strong Enough

What does it mean to be strong? When you hear that word, does it mean physical? Mental? Both? For Jill May, it means a number of things. As the first ever winner of the reality show NBC's Strong, she put her mind, body and spirt through the wringer. But what she learned during her two months on the show changed her life forever. I met Jill when her trainer Bennie Wylie led us in a workout on Daily Burn 365. The two of them were so in sync. I guess that's what happens when you are part of a team. That coach becomes the center of everything as you transform and grow. And it isn't always easy. Now, this Minnesota mom turned Personal Trainer, Health Coach, author and nationally recognized speaker has made it her mission to inspire audiences to find their own inner coach and be Strong Enough. It may shock you to learn that in traditional medical schools, nutrition education is almost non-existent during the entire four years of schooling. Yet, you see your doctor yearly for about 10-15 minutes. And if something is off, you are generally told to start by making changes to your diet. But, where do you go for support? Good news. Ep 56Ep56 - Christa Bevan: Nurturing the Radical Mother

Break the cycle. We hear that term a lot lately when it comes to generational trauma. The thought of raising a child can be overwhelming enough. But when trauma exists in our family history, parenting fears can creep in like wild fire. Am I doing this right? How do I avoid creating the toxic environment that existed before me? Can I even break this pattern or is it just genetics? What if I just can't handle it? Where can I get relief? Who's taking care of me? When Christa Bevan created the Radical Mother Village, many of those questions came to mind. The group is for all mothers devoted to being disruptors of their past. Breaking those cycles. Living better. Planting stronger roots for a thriving family tree to grow. As an "expert companion", Christa focuses on sharing ways to nurture the inner child. She not only supports and educates the village on cultivating greater self-compassion, but provides tools to handle the everyday stresses when life gets in the way. On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Christa not only gets nerdy about neuroscience and the nervous system with me, she shares more about the tension and trauma releasing exercises (TRE®) she uses daily and shares with clients. Plus, walk away with her powerful Calm Mom Strategy that can help you create a plan the next time motherhood throws you a curveball. And yes, dads…you can use these tips too. Ep 55Ep55 - Vince Warnock: Get Curious About Bad Behavior (Lessons from Your Inner & Outer Bully)

"Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about". There are so many variations of this quote. Dating back a hundreds of years. It seems as though bullying has become both an inside and outside job. So much so, that we've gotten into the habit of perfecting it. All of us. This is not exactly a skill set you add proudly to the resume. But whatever version you resonate with, the overall message is this: We all have stuff. So, get curious, courageous and vulnerable. Ask for help. And most importantly, be kind…to yourself and others. And...listen up! During this episode of HIListically Speaking, Marketing & Business Strategist and Coach Vince Warnock shares his own personal experience about how bullying in the school yard was just as present in the board room. Even with his fellow C-Suite rockstars had taken the fall time and time again. Sound familiar? Now, Vince helps entrepreneurs find their voice and face their fears in the most authentic way... personally and professionally. And, we'd be doing Vince a disservice if it wasn't mentioned that Star Wars and Stan Lee may have had something to do with his own success from corporate CEO and broadcaster to entrepreneurial super hero. We're "Chasing the Insights" on this episode of HIListically Speaking. And if you're serious about making an impact as CEO in your own life and those you serve, claim an amazing offer and book a free strategy call with Vince after you listen to the conversation. Ep 52Ep52 - Scarlett Lewis: Choosing LOVE After Loss (A Message from Sandy Hook)

Nurturing. Healing. Love. Those three words were written on the kitchen chalkboard by 6 year old Jesse Lewis before he left for school in December of 2012. Those three words were also his last. Jesse was one of the 20 first graders and 6 educators killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre. For Scarlett Lewis, the only single mother that lost her child that day, the pain and grief may never fade, but neither will her son's message. Jesse's words have sparked a movement led by his mom. A movement inspired by Jesse's final acts of love, and his mother's path of forgiveness. A movement that is giving children powerful tools that teach them how to manage their emotions, feel connected, and have healthy relationships. And the formula is simple: courage + love + forgiveness + compassion-in-action = Choosing Love. The Choose Love Movement is now in over 10,000 schools in all 50 states and 100 countries worldwide. On this episode of HIListically Speaking, hear Scarlett's story and join us in celebrating Jesse's birthday bash. Sixty years sounds like a long time. Well, unless you are Mother Earth. Because sixty is how many years of farmable soil we have left on this planet. That dirt you're standing on has purpose. Ep 50Ep50 - Hilary Russo: One Year of Connection & Conversation (Special Anniversary Show)

"Surround yourself with people who will massage your neurons". My father said those words to me when I was a child... encouraging me to spark new conversations outside my comfort zone. 40 something years later, I'm still at it. And we've reached a milestone on the HIListically Speaking Podcast. One year. One year of empowering conversations of transformational journeys. One year of trauma to triumph stories that continue to touch, move and inspire the podcasting world. One year of thoughtful souls sharing health, healing and humor. What a ride it's been so far. My neurons are just getting warmed up. Dad would be proud. I imagine he's listening from somewhere. So, to celebrate our first full trip around the sun, HIListically Speaking is taking a look back at some of the most inspiring moments from the year. From the words of wisdom to the laughter in the lessons…it's all here as a "thank you" for listening and sticking around. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year". HIListically Speaking…I agree. Every day that I am offered a chance to have new conversations and connections that touch the heart and encourage you to "be kind to your mind" is the best day so far. I wonder what tomorrow will bring. In a word: Grateful. If you haven't yet subscribed, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Celebrate our first year by leaving a rating and review. And if you've been touched, moved and inspired by one or many episodes, consider sharing it with just one person. My gift is the messages being shared. Ep 46Ep46 - David Alto: Get Over Yourself and Get the Job

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." Confucius said that. Of course, Confucius never dealt with writing a resume, scouring the internet for jobs, or wondering how many of the 750 million other people on LinkedIn applied. Add social media to that equation (just to kill your ego a little bit more) and you've got a nice little recipe for "I'm not good enough". Well, hello, imposter syndrome. Thanks for showing up. As a professional resume writer and LinkedIn rock star, you would think David Alto had it all worked out. But even the guy that helps get you past the resume bots was struggling with his own self-worth. On this episode of the HIListically Speaking Podcast, David shares his story of how he turned that struggle into his superpower. But also, he shares some valuable tips and tricks to get your resume in the right hands, get over yourself and get the job. Ep 43Ep43 - Michelle Mills-Porter: Recalibrating Communication, Connection and Core Values

How well are you communicating with others? For Michelle Mills-Porter, she was already an expert in communication, specializing in non-visual and non-verbal communication. But when she found herself in the middle of one of the biggest natural disasters in history, the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, with little time to think, it opened her eyes to discover the magnificence in humanity. She witnessed the power of true motivation and the limitless possibility of collaboration. In a digital age, we are overwhelmed with so many ways to connect. But with all these options, are we really doing it in a way that unleashes our true potential to connect with others? And do we have to wait until we face adversity to make a change? Through Michelle's own recovery, she worked to capture what she learned, eventually creating a suite of analysis tools that unleashes people power to help you to uncover your magnificence. Join the conversation when this speaker, trainer, author and a leading light in the neuroscience of human behavior shares her story and infinite possibilities with host Hilary Russo. Ep 41Ep41- Dominique Claire: Head Strong: Alopecia is My Super Power

Imagine being told "you've lost your crown and glory" because you're losing your hair. Ouch! Talk about insensitive! Well, those were the words Dominique Claire heard from a hairdresser when she was just 16 years old. Dominique has alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that impacts the hair follicles. But, hair loss can happen to anyone at any time, for many reasons…sometimes as early as our teens. Roughly 95% of hair loss in men is caused by androgenic alopecia or male-patterned baldness. And close to 50% of all women start losing their hair by the time they are 50. This can lead to feelings of insecurity and shame or even a heightened level of anxiety and depression. Dominique was only five when she went bald. Sure, she has had years to embrace it, but that doesn't mean she hasn't faced pain and loss…on many levels. On this episode of HIListically Speaking with Hilary Russo, find out how Dominique found her truth through feminine embodiment and turned alopecia into her super power. Ep 38Ep38 - Brian Kelsey: Rebuilding Your Life After Divorce

News flash: Divorce sucks. And it's not uncommon for men and women to experience this life changing event differently. But one thing is the same, divorce can be exhausting on many levels. Emotionally, physically and of course, financially. For Brian Kelsey, a dad of two boys, his biggest fear was being that divorced guy renting a one bedroom apartment over some bar in his hometown. So, finding a new foundation for himself and his kids was priority number one. And that's where he got creative in his approach. Like REALLY creative. When you're a guy who spends a lot of time on-camera sharing your master carpentry skills and quick witted humor, you can only imagine what was stirring in his mind. Ep 37Ep37 - Vincent Genna: Unlocking Your Passion and Your Purpose

Do you remember what happened the last time you went against a gut feeling? I imagine you were not too happy with the outcome. Our intuition isn't messing around when it comes to the messages we receive. It just knows. And yet, all too often we love to put up a good fight thinking we know better. Vincent Genna fought it for years. Thinking he had all the answers about what his life was meant to be. A famous acting career was in the cards. But message after message kept telling him a different story. Now, that doesn't mean Vinny didn't have some success on the stage and screen. He did. But, his gift had nothing to do with accepting a Tony or an Oscar. It had everything to do with receiving something even more powerful…the messages he was being sent day after day until he finally stopped ignoring the signs. Those signs unveiled his true mission as a psychic medium and spiritual teacher. And this was not a part he played on TV. On this episode of "HIListically Speaking", Vincent shares more about his journey from trauma to triumph. He also reveals how doors began to open once he realized he already had the key to his deepest passion and purpose…just like you. Ep 36Ep36 - Ashwini Prasad: Inclusive Storytelling

When you think of the word "inclusivity", what comes to mind? More importantly, how do you incorporate it into your own life? Do you know your own blind spots and are you asking questions that spark deeper conversations? Let's be honest…inclusivity is more than an office buzzword. It's about making everyone feel valued, changing unfair practices and providing the same opportunity to everyone to make a positive impact. One way we are seeing this more and more is through art and expression. Anti-racist educator and screenwriter, Ashwini Prasad is doing her part from the office to the theatre. Her screenplays focus on bringing people who are erased and marginalized onto the screen. And when you add her recent book, "How To Write Inclusively: An Analysis & How To Guide," and new podcast, "The Inclusive Storyteller" to the mix, you know she's on a mission. This powerful episode creates the space for Ashwini to share her own battle with racism, oppression and social injustice. But also, how she's turning things around for the silent voices to be heard. Ep 35Ep35 - Michael Roderick: The Connected Entrepreneur

"You can do hard things". Whenever Michael Roderick questions a difficult task, he's reminded of these words often shared with his daughter, Juniper. Life is full of trials and tribulations. Ups and downs. Successes and failures. And for Michael…who is in the business of "turning thoughtful givers into thoughtful leaders", connection is everything. And making sure people know what you need (what Michael calls "The Givers Fix"), could be the turning point in your life as an entrepreneur. I often call Michael "The Connector of Connectors" because as the CEO of Small Pond Enterprises, this guy knows how to make messages memorable and unforgettable. He is also the host of the podcast "Access to Anyone", which shows how you can get to know anyone you want in business and in life using time-tested relationship-building principles. Michael's unique methodology comes from his own experience of going from being a High School English teacher to a Broadway Producer in under two years. Ep 34Ep34 - Katherine Woodward Thomas: From Calling in "The One" to Conscious Uncoupling

Recently I asked listeners this question. "When it comes to a healthy relationship, what is most important for it to thrive?" These are the answers I received. Communication. Respect. Trust. Honesty. Unconditional love. Listening. Validation. Just to name a few. The truth is, whether you're getting into one, getting out of one or still on the lookout…love can be messy. And if we don't do the inner work first, and give ourselves that "in between time", we're setting ourselves up for a rinse and repeat relationship cycle that knows no end. Talk about dirty laundry. On this episode of the HIListically Speaking Podcast, New York Times best selling author and Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Katherine Woodward Thomas shares her own journey on Calling in "The One" and also, how to face a Conscious Uncoupling when things don't work out; a term that put her on the map after Gwenyth Paltrow and Chris Martin's divorce. If you're ready to have a greater understanding about your trauma self versus your true self and be committed to a future that is not fixed on your past, this conversation is a must. E

What do you think of when you see or hear the word FAT? For far too long, the word has been seen as negative, insulting and even embarrassing. But, as Executive Presence Coach Joanna Lovering of Copper + Rise shared, "it's just a descriptor". Fat is merely a word that should be seen the same way as you describe the color of your eyes. Joanna spent years battling the ups and downs of her weight. And with it came emotions to match. That is, until she turned a new page and saw the power of being present. The confidence, character and style that blooms when you decide to own it. Just like we are all more than our numbers, we are also more than those every day descriptors too. Ep 25Ep25 - Jessica Cordova Kramer: Turning Lemons into Lemonade

It's not uncommon for tragedy to bring people together. There's a feeling of "I'm not alone" that can be both healing and empowering. And can even spark the most miraculous shifts in life. Jessica Cordova Kramer can attest to that. She's a former Wall Street lawyer and podcast producer who lost her brother after a long battle with addiction. And when she heard fellow podcaster Stephanie Whittels Wachs share her own story of loss, after her brother died from an overdose, a bond was created…and then some. Together these women have gone on to create Lemonada Media, a podcast network that Jessica says, is on a mission "to make shows that help people get out of bed in the morning, that help people deal with the hardest sh*t in their real lives." On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Jessica shares more about the humor behind the healing and the journey from lemons to lemonade. Ep 24Ep24 - Michelle Hobgood: Unconscious Biases, Autism and My Authentic Self

You can learn a lot about a person if you just take time to listen to their story. Michelle Hobgood came into my life as my health coach. With over 15 years in the fitness industry, keeping me accountable on my wellness journey was second nature to her. And frankly, she continues to inspire me, which you'll soon find out. But, what I didn't know about Michelle at the time was that she was fighting her own health and wellness battles…and then some. Michelle is fit, feisty and has an infectious laugh that you just can't help but love. At first meeting, you'd never know she is the mom of an adult son with Autism. You also would miss that she is in a multicultural marriage. And likely, it wouldn't dawn on you that she faces unconscious biases every day; professionally and personally. On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Michelle shares more about her own journey on why being considered a "strong, black woman" can sometimes set the stage for biases we don't even realize we are creating. But also, this intimate conversation opened some doors where there were once walls. Doors to a better understanding that if we spend more time listening to one another, we can learn to turn awareness into action in a positive and productive way...for all. You can find more of Michelle's transparent musings and how she juggles it all with a smile (most of the time) on her Instagram and website. Ep 23Ep23 - Jeffrey Small: From Anchor Desk to Addiction

Jeffrey Small had everything going for him. Friends, family and a great job back in his hometown. When you're a news anchor, you're in many ways a celebrity in your local community. I know this because Jeffrey and I were co-anchors in Louisiana during our early days in TV News. But a move to St. Louis brought a different kind of fame. Something that changed his entire world when cocaine and meth came into play. Suddenly, the respected guy on TV who loved to party, was now on the front page of the newspapers for all the wrong reasons. Addiction took it all away from Jeff and somehow he lived to tell about it. After hitting rock bottom, this two time Emmy Winning Journalist had no choice but to look at life differently. Small is now an outspoken voice for others in need of hope and healing and shares his story on this episode of HIListically Speaking. The healing arts is big business. And for anyone who works in health or healing, there's a responsibility that comes with showing up for yourself and others. It can also leave you with a lot of questions unanswered. David Gandelman knows this all too well. His journey took him from playing hockey in New Jersey to working mindfully in Hawaii. Ep 21Ep21 - Leon Logothetis: The Journey to Kindness and Connection

If there is one show that has brought me to happy tears each time I watch, it is definitely The Kindness Diaries on Netflix. Every episode, Leon Logothetis takes us on an epic journey across the globe relying completely on the kindness of strangers. Many have little room to spare or food to give. Or do they? There in lies the lesson. So, why is a former stockbroker from London choosing to travel this way and ask for a helping hand? Well, having it all doesn't necessarily mean feeling complete; as you'll soon find out during our conversation. The real riches come from each person he meets during his travels. It's more than room and board. Time, kindness and connection pave the way for so something so much greater…for the giver and the taker. Ep 20Ep20 - Sarah Peyton: Words to Love By

My grandmother used to say, "be sure to taste your words before you spit them out". The problem is, we aren't considering the impact those words or that inner dialogue has on ourselves before it leaves our lips. Imagine if coming from a place of love and kindness started with embracing the source. When I first read Sarah Peyton's book Your Resonant Self, I was shocked at some of the sabotaging self-talk I was using. Bullying myself came with ease due to my own traumas and upsets. To be honest, we're all guilty of it…being hard on ourselves is nothing new. But, self-love isn't just a trend or a hashtag, it's a way of being… IF we have the right tools. And for Sarah, her work as a Certified Trainer of Non-Violent Communication and neuroscience educator, provides us with those tools that can help us better understand the unconscious contracts we make with ourselves. When we do this, we are free to heal and grow. On this week's HIListically Speaking Podcast, get to know your resonant self and what it takes to be kind to your mind. Ep 19Ep19 - Barry Price: Lean In To Love

We tell ourselves a lot of stories about why the right kind of love hasn't entered our lives. To the career driven woman out there, we've whined and wined over a number of them, haven't we? Here are a few of my favs. My success is intimidating to men. There's no good ones left after divorce. I'm "too busy" to date because I'm so career focused. They want the young ones anyway. And the ever so popular…I'm too old for this crap. OK, now that we go that out of our system, let's try something different. Ladies, I get it. But, now, it's time to own it. And do I have the perfect guy for you! Barry Price has been a relationship and dating coach for powerful women since he was 8 years old. You learn a lot when you're sitting at the kitchen table with your single mom, breaking down her dates. Since then, he has been trained as an ICF Coach and by renowned psychotherapist Esther Perel. He has coached thousands of successful women to transform their relationship with themselves in order to create healthy, lasting relationships with the right man. Ep 18Ep18 - Sara Green & Jason West: The Awakened Empath

What does it mean to be an empath? If this question sparks curiosity, it's likely you are one. But, let's dig deeper, shall we? Do you tend to take on the emotions of others as your own? Are you someone people (even strangers) often come to for help and/or advice? Perhaps you have found yourself in narcissistic relationships time and time again. Maybe large crowds feel overwhelming. Does the energy or vibe of the room affect you? You may value alone time as a chance to connect with something higher. Or, like many empaths...you just feel misunderstood. Any and/or all of these are just a few examples of what it could mean to be an empath. If you're still reading, this likely resonates with you. The good thing is, you're not alone. As Super Sensitive Empaths, Sara Green and Jason West can certainly relate. They are co-founders of MetaPhysical Lighthouse. A love-based, non-profit organization founded by psychics and scientists working together to create social change through empathy. Their backgrounds are so different, yet so aligned. This creates the perfect balance for what it means to build bridges instead of walls. Get to know their energy, their karma and their light during our conversation. If you questioned your empath journey or were looking for a greater connection, you may have finally found your way home on this episode of HIListically Speaking. Ep 17Ep17 - Chris Palmore: Finding Gratitude After Loss

If moments of gratitude make up a symphony, then Chris Palmore is the conductor. But finding the light can be difficult after loss. And it certainly didn't happen overnight. In 2015, Chris' mom Laura lost her battle with breast cancer. A few months prior, he was writing her a letter of gratitude. That love note and tremendous loss paved the way for a new way of being. Soon after, this coach and creator of GratitudeSpace not only opened a new door, but his heart; creating a revolutionary movement to change our world and encourage radical acts of gratitude. Ep 14Ep14 - Kimmay Caldwell: More than My Numbers

What is one number you would like to change in your life? I've been asking people that very question all week leading up to this episode. The answers varied. From making more money to losing weight. Wishing you were younger or hoping a loved one lived longer. Some of you even shared numbers that you believe will make a difference in the world. Like increased voter turnout and a decline in COVID cases. You wanted to see less competition and more love. Plant more trees and see less suffering. I also took a moment to think about the question. How can I serve more people as a health coach and holistic practitioner of emotional health and make a bigger impact? Every answer creates the same uneasy feeling. You're either striving for more or hoping for less. And even when you meet a goal, there's always another number right ahead of you. Good lord, why do we do this to ourselves? Cue the personal demons that love to show up and tell us "you are not enough". It's such B.S.! Kimmay Caldwell has been playing the numbers game for years. As a bra fitting expert, hearing the stories women tell themselves in the dressing room gave her an idea. She created "More Than My Numbers" to help women of all ages, shapes and sizes embrace the beauty inside, outside and underneath. But Kimmay has been on her own healing journey. And time is another number that has paved the way for this self-love coach to say "Hurray" in a whole new way. Ep 13Ep13 - Susan Greif: Ancestral Trauma

When is the last time you really sat down and spoke to the older generation in your family? Whether it's a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, we can learn a lot about our lineage if we take time to listen. The trouble is, many families (if not all) face some type of ancestral trauma. And talking about history can stir up major upsets. Sometimes it can even leave family members feeling disconnected and damaged. Susan Greif will be the first one to tell you, intergenerational trauma is real. As the daughter of holocaust survivors, she had her own family relationships that needed mending. And through art, Susan found a way to help others on their healing journeys; not only to get clear, but get to the heart of what could be rotting the very soil of the family tree. As a Creative Transformational Expert specializing in trauma and relationships, Susan's Art Mends Hearts approach uses drawings to help people get to the root of their subconscious minds and notice where they hold their upsets about themselves and family. On this week's HIListically Speaking podcast, she shares her own story of healing and growth and how she's using it to help others bloom where they're planted. Let's have a nervous breakdown! No, really. Michael C. Bryan said it's OK. In fact, as someone who has faced the demons of childhood abuse and trauma himself, he encourages you to go dark. After all, once we break, what to do you think shines through the darkness? You guess it. How else do you think he became a "ray of freakin' sunshine"? But behind the humor, the glitter and the "tell it like it is" tone, Michael is so much more. The man behind MCBHappier, Inc didn't get there overnight. With over 25 years working as a Special Consultant to the heads of Time Warner, NBCUniversal, Food Network, HBO, CNN and Warner Brothers (just to name a few), this writer, actor and life coach has lived in the shadows. Ep 11Ep11 - Brian Michael Smith: Trailblazer, Transgender & Talented

When Brian Michael Smith considers a role, he thinks about the impact it will have on audiences. And being the first out black trans man cast as a series regular on broadcast TV, he knows his art is his advocacy. It was his role as "Toine Wilkins", a transgender police officer on Ava DuVernay's critically acclaimed hit series Queen Sugar that opened doors. It was also a chance for him to come out publicly in the most authentic way possible - through his craft as an actor. He knew his work came with a bigger responsibility and Hollywood noticed. Soon after, came "Pierce Williams" on The L Word: Generation Q and most recently as "Paul Stickland, a transgender male firefighter on 9-1-1 Lonestar. But behind each character is a husband, a son, an advocate and a friend. I met Brian on the set of Daily Burn 365, the live-streaming fitness show that we were cast on in 2015. It wasn't long before you could tell his energy, empathy and engaging personality won hearts - not only with the cast and crew, but the community, as well. On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Brian shares more about life on camera and what it means to stay mindful, be grateful and to "know thyself". Ep 10Ep10 - Alan Seales: Finding Balance, Loving Broadway and Being Yourself

He considers himself a podcast junkie. Fortunately, his obsession is working out pretty well for him. But, for Alan Seales, "tuning IN" to his own frequency was a must if he wanted to tune OUT the demons of life's demands. Alan is not only the co-founder and CTO of the Broadway Podcast Network and executive producer/host of The Theatre Podcast, he's also the man behind Talks at Google, a family guy and oh yeah… the producer of HIListically Speaking. There's a lot of juggling happening here. And even for the guy BPN calls, "The Podcast Dad", it isn't always easy. When it comes to one's emotional well-being, finding balance in a fast paced world requires practice and a lot of patience. Mental health is definitely a topic that needs more discussion. It's why both Alan and I created the space for those conversations to happen. It's why, after almost two decades of friendship that began on stage, we found a new platform that pairs our passion with our purpose. It's why we're both here. On this episode of HIListically Speaking, Alan shares more about his own mental health battles, how his podcast came to life and what he's hoping to achieve as the theatre turn tech guy who found a new spotlight for stories to be told when the curtain falls.
