169. Arriving at Simplicity: Astrology of September 2024

How do we hold the complexity of arriving at simplicity? How does becoming aware of love's presence help us transform fear into wisdom? How does working with our emotional pain assist with returning us to innocence? The theme for September is Arriving at Simplicity. The route to simplicity is often anything but simple. It can be riddled with confusion, chaos, and doubt. In this episode, I share some contemplations for us to return to throughout the month. September 2024 starts with a New Moon in Virgo. It ends with the Sun conjoining the North Node in Libra. In between, we have the Full Moon in Pisces, which ushers the second eclipse season of the year, and Mars entering Cancer. 168. The Open Throat Center - Exploring Human Design Concepts

What is the open throat center in Human Design? How do we work with its unique gifts and challenges in the process of deconditioning? The open / undefined throat is one of my favorite topics in Human Design. It's said that only 29% of the population has an open throat center, making it the least common out of the open centers. Unsurprisingly (and pun intended), there's a lot of misconceptions, misunderstandings, and, frankly, terrible advice about how to live with an open throat center. In this episode, I share about my process understanding, deconditioning, and ultimately befriending my undefined throat.Thank you Kelsey Rose Tortorice for the question! You can listen to my conversation with Kelsey here. She also has incredible courses to help you learn Human Design, Human Design for the Astrologically Minded and Living Your Design. I also mentioned my HD teachers, Amy Lee and John Cole of Human Design Collective whose foundational courses on Human Design I highly recommend. 167. Thinking is Spiritual: A Meditation on Mercury Cazimi

How might thinking open a portal to embodied transcendence? What role do the right questions at the right time play in walking an open-hearted path?Thinking is often bedeviled in 'spiritual' spaces. Thinking has been marketed as the enemy of the heart-centered, spirit-led life. Thinking has been defined as the opposite of embodiment. Thinking has been dubbed the root of all sufferings. But does thinking not also happen in the body? Why does Life gift us minds alongside bodies and hearts, if we were asked to shut it down to reach spiritual mastery?I explore these spiky questions from the lens of the Mercury Retrograde in Virgo and the Mercury Cazimi in Leo.I also mentioned some of my teachers, Diana Rose Harper and Deborah Kremins, as well as a container I'm currently facilitating, Deep Spirit Medicine.Photo by Maksym Kaharlytskyi via Unsplash.Sign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me. 166. Venus in Virgo: Love in Process

What might Venus's fall in Virgo teach us about love at the crossroads? How might we marry pleasure and devotion?August seems to be Venus veneration month for me. Last year, around the same time, we sat by the altar of Venus as they were making their retrograde in Leo (Episode 89. Contemplating Venus Retrograde in Leo 2023: Illuminating The Loveless Places). This year, existential Venusian questions haunted me as the laughter-loving queen transited through my ascendant degree. They woke me from a slumber and demanded an episode be recorded in their honor. What do we do when our desires require that we alchemize conditioned passivity into meticulous strategizing? How do we access a deeper well of love when it becomes apparent that consistent tending is necessary?I mentioned the works of Leah Garza and Kathryn Solie in this episode. 165. The Life-Changing Magic of Authentic Planning: How To Prioritize Your Heart in Streamlining Your Process

What is authentic planning? How might we be able to use our planning skills to create work that feels energetically true to us? Are there times when planning actually compromise the sacred flow of the work?In this episode, I shared lessons and contemplations on the heart of planning. Contrary to popular beliefs, planning will neither solve all your problems nor will it kill your creativity. The truth, of course, is more nuanced.Planning is a tool. Like any other tool, there are considerations for using it well. Planning can help us effectively direct our efforts towards important projects that bring deep satisfaction. Planning can feel authentic, easeful, and liberating. In contrast, planning can also imprison us, frustrate us, or distract us from the true work at hand.So what distinguishes life-giving planning from soul-sucking planning? In hindsight, I'm surprised it's taken this long for me to talk about planning on the podcast. As a Virgo rising, this is one of the major themes in my life that continue to pop up no matter where I go. I've resorted to planning obsessively when I'm frustrated or heartbroken. I've also kneeled at the altar of planning and have lifelong prayers be answered with a great deal of surprising efficiency.Special thanks to Tiffany (@tiffografi on Threads) for sharing a question that prompted this exploration, as well as to Michelle Pellizzon who's taught me to heal my heart and fall back in love with my life through organization, clarity, and System Spells. 164. Bodies of Land with Marika Clymer & Carolyn Egan

How are human bodies extensions of the lands we live on? How do we remember threads of connection interwoven in the earth? How might deepening our elemental connections assist us in times of uncertainty? In the past few months, I have been collaborating with Marika Clymer and Carolyn Egan on a zine project, lovingly named Bodies of Land. This issue is an ode to the energetics of Summer 2024 seen through the lens of the body, plants, and planets, and it's incredibly gorgeous. It's available for digital download here.In this episode, I invited Marika and Carolyn to explore he themes that run through the zine, including the land as a body, the human body as an extension of the land itself, and how astrology can bring us closer to our inherent connection and belonging with the rest of creation. We also discussed how knowledge can become pathways to deepen connections rather than barriers to deny connections with life, being with uncertainty, and the energetics of fire.We also explored the behind the scenes process of creating the zine, including how the three of us ended up collaborating on this zine, and how the summer has immersed us in experiences that deepened our embodiment of the themes of the zine. Carolyn and Marika have taught me so much through the generous sharing of their perspectives and their presence in the process of creating this zine.If you resonate with our discussions, we invite you to check out the zine here.Links: Marika's shop, where you can get super cool merchandisesCarolyn's shop, where you can get potent herbal medicines and guidesSign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me. 163. On Astrological Forecasting with Sabrina Monarch

What do astrologers learn from the practice of forecasting? How might studying astrology and contemplating the future help us be more present to our daily reality? In this conversation, I invited the incredible astrologer Sabrina Monarch for a discussion on the practice of astrological forecasting. Over the years, Sabrina and I have both cultivated a practice of sharing our perspectives on astrological transits with our audience and our communities. It's a rich practice that have assisted us both in honing our unique astrological voices. We thought we'd share some lessons we've learned as well as how this practice has expanded us as practitioners and as humans. Sabrina has been practicing & teaching evolutionary astrology for many years now. She was someone I studied with very early on in my journey, and my experience learning with her was invaluable to who I've become as an astrologer. Early in my studies, I signed up for her newsletter and quickly became enchanted by the inspired, image-driven, vivid ways that Sabrina wrote about astrology. Her forecasts were beyond mere delineations – they hold potential to transport readers into expanded experiences of reality. From now until August 11, 2024, Sabrina is running a Kickstarter campaign to support the creation of her forecasts & her podcast throughout the coming year. Through the Kickstarter, you can make a pledge to support Sabrina's work & in exchange receive discounted tuition for her signature course, Evolutionary Astrology Intensive, as well as workshops, readings, and a new course called Glamor Magic.Links to connect with Sabrina:Sabrina 2024-2025 Kickstarter CampaignSabrina's websiteSabrina's podcast, Magic of The Spheres, and her YouTube channelSabrina's InstagramSign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me. 162. Introducing Deep Spirit Medicine

How do we honor the complex paradox of our interdependence with the world as exquisitely unique individuals in this lifetime? How do we remember our inherent belonging to the earth and cultivate an ongoing practice of reciprocal connections? How do we embrace neutrality as pathways into the mystery of life?In this episode, I introduce Deep Spirit Medicine, a 6-week foundational energy cultivation course. Deep Spirit Medicine is an experience designed to guide you to listen to your inner guidance, to develop clear perception, and to cultivate reciprocal relationships with the world around you. Through guided meditation and communal discussions, this course seeks to build a foundational practice for intuitive development. Deep Spirit Medicine lies at the heart of my practice as a mystic, an astrologer, a facilitator, and a human. It is foundational to everything I do. This work was developed by my teacher and mentor, Deborah Kremins, who also trained me to teach this work. I'm grateful for her guidance and I'm honored to share this work with you.Read more about the upcoming round of Deep Spirit Medicine here. The next round of Deep Spirit Medicine will start on Thursday, July 18, 2024. 161. Trends, Traditions, Truth: Navigating The Ebbs & Flows of Spiritual Pursuits

How might we uncover our own truth in a world of infinite options? How do we contextualize the inevitability of trends in spiritual spaces? How do we approach traditions with discernment and wisdom? In this episode, I explored the complexity of trends and traditions within spiritual spaces. These can be polarizing topics. Too often, it's easy to either chase trends while losing a sense of who we are or to dismiss trends as mere fads. Likewise, it's also tempting to fall into the trap of revering traditions at all costs, neglecting to ask important questions rooted in common sense and to harden ourselves around "That's just the way things have been done." I will be teaching the next round of Deep Spirit Medicine, a foundational energetic cultivation course, which will begin on Thursday, July 18, 2024. 160. Rubber Spirituality: On Spiritual Practices & Spiritual Principles

Where does the rubber meet the road when it comes to our spiritual practices? What principles, beliefs, and values underlie our spiritual practices? How might contemplating them more deeply help us orient towards practices that align with the chapter of life we're in?This is the first installment (hopefully of many more) where I explore the theme of embodied practical spirituality. Our spiritual practices don't exist in a vacuum. They are part of the larger ecosystem of our lives. How do we begin building bridges between our so-called mundane realities and our spiritual lives? What caused the divide in the first place? How might we begin dissolving the arbitrary divisions and embracing the potential for our daily reality to initiate us?Drop any questions you may have for me here.Photo by Andres Siimon via Unsplash.Sign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me. 158. Mary Schuch: Your Experiment is Your Practice

How might we approach friendship, art, and spirituality as creative experiments? How do we practice presence in grief? How might we increase our capacity to change our minds and shift our practices?Halfway through this conversation, Mary Schuch casually said something that stopped my heart in its track, "Just because it's not fun, doesn't mean it's not a gift." That's something I've always admired about artist, creative, and astrologer Mary Schuch – her ability to hold wisdom with humor and to serve truth with irreverence.Mary and I recorded this conversation at the tail end of Jupiter in Taurus, a period marked by changes and reminders of life's transient nature. We discussed the current states of our relationships with art, how friendship is a practice, and balancing the intensity of life with slowness. If you can't get enough of our vibe, I recommend that you listen to our podcast "My Life Is Better With You In It"Mary's bio:Mary Schuch (she/her) is committed to showing up for the experience of belonging in a human body. In this lifetime, Mary is steadily walking a resonant path and striving to remember the inherent relationality of all beings. Informed by her upbringing as a homeschooled pastor's kid and the eighth of eleven siblings, Mary is reclaiming her right to exploration and education through meditative multidisciplinary living. She is devoted to practices incorporating writing, music, art, breadmaking, astrology, movement, and being outdoors. A beneficial byproduct of years of manual labor, Mary’s reverence for contemplative time has grown through work in gardens, kitchens, on a commercial lobster boat, and an oyster farm. She is originally from the Chicago area and currently lives on an island in Maine. 152. Brynja Magnusson: Mystical Systems and The Subconscious

How do mystical systems and spiritual philosophies help us understand our subconscious better? How do we reconcile the apparent tensions between different systems? How might art serve to bridge the divide?Over the past few years, I've admired the work of Brynja Magnusson as well as her ability to seamlessly weave her artistic and spiritual practices. Her guidebooks and card decks have been trusted guides in my own study of Human Design, Animal Totems, the I-Ching, and Yin Mysticism. Early on in my Human Design journey, Brynja also gave me a reading that felt like a turning point and gently ignited a flame of curiosity to explore the system more deeply. In this conversation, we explored the connections and distinctions between various spiritual systems, the role of encouragement in nurturing our subconscious, moving away from dogmatic ways of approaching mystical systems, and sharing knowledge while learning. Here's Brynja's bio:Brynja is a student of spiritual philosophy. While apprenticing in topics of shamanism, ritual, human energetics, and nature-based spirituality she creates functional illustrated guidebooks based on her notes of the material she studies. Brynja works with mediums of art, writing, and personal sessions to, directly and indirectly, provide the subconscious and spirit with alternative tools. Brynja is the creator of Ceremoniance, an art-based company that shares her studies via art, design, and description. Brynja creates beautifully illustrated guidebooks and card decks on topics of Human Design, the I Ching, Animal Totems, Yin Mysticism, and soon the tarot and recovery work. By giving an artistic platform to obscured wisdom, we can maintain and promote the transformative practices cultivated by humans over thousands of years.Brynja's offerings (including her decks and sessions) can be found through her website Ceremoniance. 132. Emily Sadowski, PhD: What is Intuition?

What is intuition? How might we account for the myriad ways our intuitive faculties speak to us? How and why do we develop a trustworthy relationship to intuitive experience?Join me for a deep and lively conversation exploring the topic of intuition with my guest Emily Sadowski, PhD, the author of What is Intuition? While intuition is a familiar and frequently-used concept within the spiritual communities, a majority of the conversations I've seen have revolved around the 'how.' To me, Emily's work is unique because she also explores the 'what' and the 'why' of intuition with rigor, nuance, and a warm, open curiosity. We also explored topics like how she became interested in learning more about intuition, how getting curious about our intuition can lead us deeper into inquiries about consciousness, and how to integrate intuition into our daily personal & communal existence. Here's Emily's bio: Emily Sadowski, PhD writes, teaches, and coaches smart, sensitive leaders in cultivating their self-awareness and self-compassion so they can connect with their inner genius and trust their inner knowing.Join Emily's upcoming course TRUST, an Intuition Development Immersion, starting March 23, 2024.Emily also offers 1:1 coaching and monthly integration circles. In the brokenness of our times, how might questioning our performance of love tickle pathways for new worlds to open? What fresh forms of connections can blossom when we collapse the hierarchy of loving into a mycelial network of loving? To celebrate the last week of Venus's current transit in Aquarius (ps we have not one but TWO trips of Venus moving through Aquarius), I'm recording a contemplation of Venus's journey through the land of fixed air. The workshop is on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 4-6 PM EST / 1-3 PM PST. If you can't make it live, replay will be available! 127. Odette Blooms: Relationality & Reciprocity Through The Planets

How do we understand relationality through our unique experiences? How might practicing astrology assist us in the art of living in deeper acknowledgement of relationality and reciprocity? In this conversation with my friend Odette Blooms, who is an astrologer, an artist, and a mystic, we explored the theme of relationality as reflected through our lived experiences, as well as how Odette and I embody that experiential concept within our astrological & artistic practice. We discussed what it means to practice astrology as an art of connecting with spirit, of healing, and of remembering to give and receive love. We also spoke about the connection between relationality and reciprocity, as well as how these concepts make sense to us as immigrants who live at the intersections of collectivistic and individualistic cultures. It's a true conversation between two friends - a melding of two Mercurial, rhizomatic minds and two Venusian hearts. It moves at such a sweet, flowing, leisurely pace. To me, this is the tempo and the energy that Odette radiates out from their being: a gift of softening the edges of time through her presence. Here's Odette's bio:Odette (she/they) is an astrologer, artist and mystic devoted to beauty and creativity as a path towards deeper embodiment. As a student of the Earth, everything she does comes back to how we can re-member the inherent truth of unconditional love within ourselves, with other beings and with the precious land we live on. Being a first-generation immigrant from Mexico and raised by a single mother, Odette’s life has been anything but normal. As a child of Saturn, she has always been interested in disrupting the status quo and queering up everything she touches. Currently, her offerings include natal chart readings, and soon a women’s monthly circle that offers space to witness one another through the mercurial magic of story-telling. 121. Martha Alter Hines: Infinite Soul Wisdom Astrology

How might our astrology practice serve as a sacred portal of remembering? How might our unique perspectives as humans living in these times shift the trajectory of astrology? In this conversation, I'm joined by astrologer, channel, and healer Martha Alter Hines for a conversation about her unique perspective and relationship with astrology. Martha is currently preparing to teach the first round of her year-long astrology course and sacred journey, which you can learn more about here. Recorded in late October 2023, we discussed how astrology has helped Martha remember herself as an ancient being and a unique conduit of divine wisdom on a personal level as well as her process of stepping into the role of facilitating this remembering for others. We also spoke about Martha's background as clinical social worker, a psychotherapist, and a body worker inform her current astrology and healing practice, as well as how she teaches astrology.Martha's Infinite Soul Wisdom Astrology 101 Course & Sacred Journey begins on January 25, 2024. Sign up here. In the past few years, Martha and I have had the opportunity to collaborate - most notably on Re-Becoming The One 2023, a free online symposium that aims to promote healing of gender, sexuality, and our relationship to Love and Life itself. I deeply appreciate and admire the ways that Martha stewarded significant projects and containers with integrity, groundedness, and devotion. If you enjoy this episode, you may also want to listen to a previous conversation I recorded with Martha on Episode 34 of this podcast. Martha mentioned this video with Heather Ensworth and Kristina Lea during our conversation. Here’s Martha’s bio: First and foremost, I am a mom of two amazing kids, ages ten and fifteen. We live in BEAUTIFUL coastal California and feel so lucky to be here.I come from a big, international family. I was born in Bangkok, Thailand, and grew up in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, and northern Virginia. I received my Masters in Social Work from Smith College in Massachusetts in 2001. I then worked as a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and body worker for most of the past twenty years. I specialized in prevention, treatment, and investigation of child abuse, attachment, and trauma. In 2018, the spirit world made it very clear that it was time for me to move on from that very important work to the calling of my soul – assisting people to navigate the beautiful and often challenging experience of awakening to their ultimate, cosmic selves and souls. For many years, since I was 21 years old, I have had an ability to see many things beyond the physical world – spirits of all kinds, past lives, the structure of people’s bodies and cells, and so on.In the work I do now, I bridge both the Earthly world and that of the spiritual and cosmic worlds to support us in coming into our personal and collective relationship with the spirit world and our own ways of living as conscious beings of both the Earth and the divine.I feel strongly that the world needs our wisdom, not only of our minds, but of our whole beings - our minds, hearts, bodies, spirits, and selves as beings of the Earth, cosmos, and infinity.I love this work that I do now and am honored and full of joy holding space for others to recognize their own beautiful, literally divine selves and to live the full life they are here to live. You can find Martha’s offerings on her website. She’s available for 1:1 sessions and has a beautiful membership community which hosts monthly gatherings.Sign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me. 120. Questioning Structures, Welcoming Inspiration: Contemplating The Week of 01.15.24

How might creating more space in our lives heal our relationship with structures and with dreams? What do our unconscious patterns teach us about bridging our visions and our realities?Recorded for the week of 01.15.24, I contemplate the role of creating space to notice our patterns in the context of larger textural shifts in the astrology, namely to Pluto's shift into Aquarius on 01.20.2024. I mentioned the work of Xenia Viray of @mythscreation.Sign up for my newsletter to read my essays and be the first to hear about new offerings here.If you've enjoyed and benefited from the podcast, I invite you to apply for private mentorship and coaching with me.
