Biters Interview w/ Tuk – EP012

E

Biters from Atlanta are an amazing band that channel rock n roll influences like T.Rex, The Sweet, Cheap Trick, AC DC, and even Tom Petty, yes I said Tom Petty, to carve out dirty, hook-laden rock/pop anthems that will have you pumping your fist and screaming for more. They create a sound from a rockin’ era long-lost, and somehow make it fresh and exciting yet familiar. The music comes from a place of honesty and integrity and just an all-around love and affection for classic rock of the 70’s and early 80s.Take away the labels and the influences and what you are left with is just damn catchy songwriting. When I reached out to main songwriter and frontman Tuk, I wanted to hear his Rock N Roll story, so I could understand how his influences shaped the musician he is and the songs he writes to create Biters music. Tuk & Steve Michael at the dog park Instead of the usual Skype call, studio interview, or tour bus talk, Tuk suggested we meet at a neighborhood dog park out in back of a cool little coffee house. It was an absolute beautiful day, and I was sold, yet a little hesitant because of sound quality, but what I got was a very cool interview, with all the sounds of nature, and dogs along with a great conversation and insight into what makes this great newer band tick. Don’t miss the fun and unique introduction to this episode, as I am helped out by my two Decibel Geek brothers, fellow podcasters, and Biters fans Chris and Aaron when I stopped by their Nashville studio. Time Capsule V1 w/ Trevor McDougall

E

Growin' Up Rock listener Trevor McDougall shares his Rock N Roll Story with us. Find out how a Monk, Kiss, and a road trip to Toronto changed Trevor's life in his youth, and set him on a lifelong love of hard rock and metal music. Here is his some of his story in his words: "Like most I grew up with older K-Tel records from my folks and the country music playing outta the radio each morning. Without going into details I ended up going into foster care for a year and my brother and I went into a musicless home except ABBA. After a year of that (isn't that enough?!) I came home and the Children's Aid Society appointed me a "big Brother". When I met him I was astounded! It was a catholic monk! Brown robe and all". Want to hear more? Check out the Podcast!!
