So when we say, "Elohim" we are saying "Gods and Goddesses." But El itself is masculine, so when the word Elohim is written in the book of Genesis, many translators interpret that as merely "God." But the real translation should be "Gods and Goddesses," because Elohim is a plural word, which encompasses feminine and masculine together. The number one is masculine and the number two is feminine. The number two emerges from the unity, which in reality is within the unity. But the number two, the duality, is the way in which divinity multiplies or creates. It is impossible for the unity to create by itself; it does not, it unfolds into two. And That is why in many ways in Kabbalah, you find that there are different names related with different entities, different forces, that always show us the duality, or the two aspects, two polarities; masculine, feminine. And this is because in order for creation to exist we need always the two polarities. Those people that believe in God as masculine and reject the feminine aspect of it, are half-atheists, because God is male-female. So in order for us to be a complete theist we have to understand that we have to worship not only God as masculine, but the Goddess, the Divine Mother, its feminine aspect, in order to be complete.
