E115 - Free Guy

Tune in for our review and stick around while we talk about the end of the first season of Vox Machina! You can catch Free Guy on Disney+ and on HBO Max and you can watch The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime. Leave us a comment and let us know your thoughts!

E114 - Book of Boba Fett
FullThis is the way. Greetings, humans, from the bridge of the Galactic Driftwood! This week, we're talking about the end of The Book of Boba Fett, or The Mandalorian Season 2.5. Well... we actually spend most of our time talking about Din (Mando) and Grogu and completely forget about poor Boba. But don't worry, there's still plenty of stuff to talk about in the latter half of the season. Leave us a comment and let us know what you thought of The Mandalorian taking over Boba Fett's show.

This week we're getting caught up on some nerd news and talking about a variety of topics, starting with the recent Nintendo Direct that landed the other week and the various news coming off of that. We're going to talk about more topics around gaming that range from beginner to getting in deeper with some music appreciation. We're talking about a lot of different things this week, so check it out and let us know what interests you!

Not content with one universe worth of stuff, then we're going to jump over to the Alpha Quadrant and talk about all the new Star Trek media that's coming out in the near future!

E109 - Don't Look Up!
FullSeriously though, look up! The crew of the good starship the U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood are a good looking and light-hearted group. As such, we like to watch the occasional feel-good movie of the year and just relax. Something funny and enjoyable without all those annoying "politics" or "pitch dark satire of the current world." Won't you join us as we discuss last year's "feel good movie", Don't Look Up, now streaming on Netflix? I'm sure everything will be fine!

E108 - Llamageddon
Full"No llamas were hurt during the production of this film. Just the dignities of all involved." We here at the Galactic Driftwood Podcast are fans of quality cinema. But, every now and again, we as sci-fi fans have to remember that it's not all "good special effects", "quality writing" and "understandable plot" that make science fiction and genre film. Sometimes, it's just that guy, who knows a guy with a llama. Sometimes, it's not about the quality of the special effects, but the about maximum amount of strawberry Jello you have on hand for fake blood. Sometimes, your budget isn't set by Disney, but whatever you and your buddies can dig out of the couch cushions. Sometimes, you get Iron Man...and then sometimes you get Llamaggeddon! So, tune in for our in depth review of this, soon to be, classic science fiction alpaca-lypse!

E107 - The Witcher Season 2
Full"A true witcher should never abandon poultry in distress." -Geralt of Rivia Welcome geeks and nerds to another episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. This week we're mostly talking about the newest season of The Witcher on Netflix. Monsters, mages, and mayhem make up the world of the Witcher and we're going to talk about what happens, so consider this your spoiler alert. We're also going to talk about the 20th Anniversary Harry Potter special that's airing on HBO Max. Listen in for another great episode!

E106 - The Matrix: Resurrections
FullNo one can tell you what the Matrix is. Happy New Year and welcome back to the Galactic Driftwood Podcast for our first episode of 2022! We’re kicking things off with our discussion on The Matrix: Resurrections. We’re going back into the Matrix, probably not for the first time in twenty years for many of us, but certainly our first new trip into that world. This is your first, but not final, warning that there are going to be major SPOILERS for the movie. Remember, once you’ve taken the red pill there is no going back, so be sure you’re ready.

E105 - Finch
Full"It's time to upgrade my optics to iEyes 3.0." What's going to happen when the sun finally gets tired of our BS and sends a nice little flare to half-bake the planet? It's a pretty fun and happy question for the last show of 2021. Thankfully, we'll be answering the question by watching Finch, currently streaming on AppleTV+, and Automata (available for rent through multiple sources). Whatever happens, it seems like robots are going to be pretty big in the end times so we are there for it! Come and join us for another week of nerd talk and end of the world speculation!

E104 - Krampii
Full"Silent Night, Blasphemous Night. Great Ones reign, Death's in sight!" Welcome to another Christmas episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. We're once again joined by show favorite Stu Burns to talk about the darker aspects of the holiday season! This time we're going to talk about Elves, a horror series now streaming on Netflix, and talking about the folklore that inspired it. We'll also talk about Santa's dark brother, Krampus and his role in holiday lore. Just remember, that when someone wishes you a Merry Christmas, they might not be talking about a visit from Saint Nick! Merry Christmas, everyone! Bwahahahaha!

E103 - The Wheel of Time
Full“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend” – Robert Jordan. Welcome back for a new episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. This week we’re talking about The Wheel of Time, the show, not the books, now airing on Amazon Prime. While that should be enough for any one podcast, we’re also going to touch base on The Expanse, The Witcher and more!

E102 - The Robots are Coming
Full1) A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Science fiction is full to bursting of what will happen at the advent of the Singularity, or the robot uprising...but what's it going to look like in real life? This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're looking at some of the latest technology news, including robots with realistic human expressions and motion, and self-reproducing xenobots. What's the world going to look like when the robots are taking peoples' jobs? Plus we'll talk about Elon Musk's most recent stumbling in communicating with humans. All this and more, in this week's Galactic Driftwood Podcast!

E101 - Bigfoot is a Brony
FullTruth is stranger than fiction...and our fiction is pretty strange! Welcome back to the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. This week we are, once again, joined by our good friend Stu Burns! He's here this week to talk about Bigfoot, Nebraska Tourism, and the odd intersection of those two subjects. But first, Bill and Linda will regale us with tales of how they survived the Martian menace at this year's Teslacon! Tune in for another awesome episode!

E100 - Oops! All 3d Printing!
FullWelcome to the 100th episode of the Galactic Driftwood podcast! We wanted to do kind of a retrospective on the previous 99 episodes with guests that we've had on over the course of our run. And this was our mistake! This week we're joined by Stu Burns (who will be back for the next episode) and Benito Garcia. Our plans went out the window when Seth and Benito got talking about 3d Printing (drove on by questions from the cast) and what resulted is a great primer if you're interested in 3d printing. Or if you just like hearing a couple nerds go on about their new hobby for a while. Either way, we hope you enjoy our 100th episode! We're looking forward to making another 100 episodes for you our wonderful listeners!

E99 - Eternals
FullGilgamesh was best. Don't @ me. This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're going back to the movies! We've all got thoughts on Marvel's newest addition to the MCU and we're eager to share them with you, with the forewarning that ahead there be SPOILERS! Consider yourself warned. Leave a comment or a like and let us know what you think about the movie in the comments!

E98 - Meta!
FullJoin us this week as we dive into the metaverse! Facebook is now Meta and working to create the next generation of the Internet combined with Virtual Reality. What will it mean for you? Warning, here there be spoilers for both the show and the books!

E96 - Dune 2021
FullThe Spice Must Flow! Journey, once again, to Arrakis, the Desert Planet, home to the Fremen and the giant sandworms, with the cast of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. Granted, the story of Frank Herbert's classic science fiction shouldn't need one, but spoiler warning none-the-less. We're going to be talking about what happens in the movie, characters and story points, so consider yourself forewarned. Everyone all aboard the sandworm and get ready to join your water to ours (not that way you sickos) because we're ready to hop on a Guild transport and huff some spice!

E93 - Mario Bava
FullVision vs. profitability. Art vs business. Good vs. evil! This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast, Stu Burns is back to talk about Mario Bava, a fantastic Italian horror movie director who has largely fallen by the wayside and been forgotten. Regarded as the father of the modern slasher flick, his films suffered from being edited, and changed for foreign audiences as studio big wigs re-cut them to be what they thought would be "more marketable". Join us as we talk about Mario Bava, his movies, his legacy and other movies that have been re-cut, and in the process harmed for the sake of marketability. Trust me, this is an episode you shouldn't miss! Terryifying Haunted Houses in Omaha: http://www.npdodge.com/blog/2017/10/terrifying-haunted-houses-omaha-area/

E91 - The Empty Man
FullOn the first night, you hear him. On the second night, you see him. On the third night, you feel him. 2020 and 2021 have been a bit rough on all of us, including the movie industry. This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast, we're talking about a horror movie that slipped through the cracks during the long, dark pandemic (and the Fox / Disney merger): The Empty Man. Join us as we discuss a great horror movie that's destined to be a cult hit; whenever people figure out it exists.

E90 - Multiverse of Streaming
FullIt's your friendly, neighborhood podcasters, back with a brand new episode! This week we're reaching into the grab bag of nerd topics to talk about upcoming movies and shows that we're looking forward to watching: the recent Spider-man: No Way Home trailer, Shang Chi, Wheel of Time and more!

E89 - Brand New Cherry Flavor
FullSomething wicked this way comes! Would you contract a witch to get revenge on your worst enemy? Maybe you'll give that a second thought after listening to this week's Galactic Driftwood Podcast. On this episode we're talking about Brand New Cherry Flavor, Netflix's horror show that stands a decent chance of sickening out even the most hardened of horror veterans. Buckle in fellow astronauts, things are about to get weird up in here.

E88 - What If?
FullI can do this all day. What if Peggy Carter got the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers? Marvel's new show on Disney+ dropped its first episode a couple weeks ago and that's what we're talking about on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. Can we get Bill and Linda to watch a "cartoon"? Only time and our nagging will tell! If that's not enough for you, we've got some Nerd News for you too!

E87 - Suicide Squad
FullHeya, Mistah J! Whoa...that felt weird. But, if this week's movie proves anything it's that weird is good! Join the crew of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast as we talk about James Gunn's colorful movie about C-List super heroes that you've never heard of before, filled with a killer soundtrack and humorous moments. No, not that movie. I'm talking about The Suicide Squad. Well, we're talking about The Suicide Squad, DC's newest, most violent, action flick. So, kick back, adjust your parasitic space starfish face mask, and enjoy!

E86 - Black Widow
FullAvengers, assemble! Well... one Avenger anyway. This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're talking about our thoughts on Marvel's latest movie, Black Widow. Beware! There's spoilers for the movie ahead (if you haven't shelled out $30 for Disney+ or have seen it in the theater yet). We're also going to be talking about Scarlet Johansson's lawsuit against Disney for her cut of the aforementioned Disney+ profits.

E85 - Nerd News!
FullThis week in Nerd News! This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're talking about a variety of stories that caught our eye this week. We'll talk about the ending of Loki and the coming Marvel Multiverse. Everyone else had some thing to say on the scandal at Activision Blizzard, so we wanted to get our two cents in as well. We're covering a wide variety of topics this week. So tune in and see what's come (or already here) on the nerdy side of the news!

E84 - Persona 5
FullThis week we're navigating into the metaverse with another episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. We don't talk about video games nearly as much as Seth would like to on this podcast, and this week he's rectifying that by introducing the group, and you, to one of his favorite RPGs (role playing game), Persona 5! If you've been curious on what the buzz is about, or you've never heard of it before but need a new RPG to eat up one hundred and twenty (minimum) hours or your life, tune in and find out what you might have been missing.

E83 - The Tomorrow War
FullThe future ain't what it used to be especially not in The Tomorrow War currently on Amazon Prime. This week on Galactic Driftwoood we talk about the new Science Fiction thriller that casts Chris Pratt as a high school teacher / potential savior of the human race in a war that starts 30 years in the future. Does the time travel make sense? Are the aliens scary? Is Chris Pratt dashing and handsome while being an action movie protagonist? We'll discuss all these things and more on this weeks Galactic Driftwood Podcast.

E82 - There should have been only one
FullThere can be only one! Or at least there should have only been one. Welcome to this week's special After Dark edition of the Galactic Driftwood podcast. This week we're taking another dive into the world of bad science fiction with a watching of Highlander 2: The Quickening. Some will remember the 1980's cult classic, Highlander, or perhaps the 90's follow up show of the same name. This is that...but not in any way that could have mattered to the writers of the first movie. Now there's aliens, (with guns AND swords), interplanetary travel and time travel, global conspiracies, evil CEOs and at least one kitchen sink... probably. Because we're never content to suffer alone we dragged special guest hosts Mark and Zack along for the ride! Come and join us for another excellent (your results may vary) episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast!

E81: Loki
FullWelcome! Welcome, my pretties ... to Galactic Driftwood AFTER DARK! What better way to upset the natural order of things than to add alcohol and shake? What natural order? Galactic Driftwood is going to be switching to a weekly schedule, with more focused talk in a shorter episode. And speaking of upsetting the natural order, this week we're talking about Disney+'s new series Loki! Beware kind listener, for in this episode thar be spoilers. We're going to be covering episodes 1-4, so if you aren't caught up, and don't want to be spoiled, consider yourself fairly warned.

E80 - Cosmic Con
FullDanger Will Robinson! Danger! The Galactic Driftwood crew took another trip up to Lyons Nebraska to visit Bill Hedges and his wonderful world of science fiction! This time, they didn't go alone! Traveling with were the fantastic Katie Otten (@KatieOtten13), Josh Caito(@j_caito)! The crew had a fine time cosplaying and touring the many wonders that Bill has made out in rural Nebraska. This week, we'll be talking about that trip, and talking with Bill Hedges and Josh Caito who joined us on the recording! Join us as we talk about the first convention like experience that we've had in nearly a year and a half that we dubbed Cosmic Con!

E79 - Earth Girls are Easy
FullGoing where everyone has gone before. Guys, the 80s and 90s were weird, and we just need to come to terms with that. To better explore that weirdness, we watched Earth Girls Are Easy, a weird movie with weird people in it, and we can definitely recommend that you watch it too. After we try and sell you on a movie with Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey and Geena Davis we'll dive into news that affects the Omaha Con scene, Jupiter's Legacy and what effect it's canceling might have on other big shows coming to streaming and other topics that cross our nerdy little minds. Join us for another great episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast!

E78 - The Nevers
FullWe've got a Steampunk Revolution. We're tired of all your so called 'evolution'. It's time for another episode of the Galactic Driftwood podcast! This week we're taking a trip back to the past that never was, talking about a couple new series that came out recently: The Nevers on HBO Max and Shadow and Bone which recently debuted on Netflix. Plus there's the sad news that The Irregulars (also on Netflix) didn't get renewed, so we're going to talk about that too. Don't worry, we have plenty of other things to discuss too. So, put a couple rusty gears in your top hat and hop onto the poorly constructed airship that is this weeks episode!

E77 - Tenet
FullTry not to think about it too hard. This week we're playing a little bit of catch-up on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast and discussing Tenet by Christopher Nolan. And by "discussing" we mean Bill and Jenna attempt to break Seth's mind with time manipulation physics. We'll also talk about some other shows, including Invincible. Seth attempts to explain how to juggle streaming services to Bill again.

E76 - Mortal Kombat
FullTest your might! Kano. Lui Kang. Johnny Kage. Sonya. Sub-zero. Dun dun dun dun dundun dun dun dun... You know the song. I apologize for nothing. We've got a broad range of topics to cover on this weeks episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. Of chief interest this week are new shows and movies out on the various streaming platforms. We spend some time talking about HBO's new show, The Nevers (Not the Neevers, Bill) and its interesting first couple episodes. Also new on HBO Max is the new Mortal Kombat movie, which gets us talking video game movies in general. Seth really wants to talk about Resident Alien (streaming on Paramount+) so the cast humors him. And finally we'll conclude with some alien conspiracy talk around the government releasing some strange footage that might, or might not be aliens. I'd highly suggest joining us for another excellent episode before the Greys take one of us away for "probing."

E75 - Godzilla vs Kong
FullIf there is a corporate friendly term for sacrifice pit, we are in it. This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast it's time for the fight of the century! Not Batman vs Superman. That's small fries. It was also pretty boring (Snyder zing!). No! This week we're talking about a battle of actual titans. Godzilla versus King Kong! Join us as we talk about this very important movie. A true milestone. Art. Also, we really liked it when the monkey punched the lizard. We're also going to talk about Netflix's The Irregulars among other things.

Episode 74: The Snyder Cut
FullIt's a bird! It's a plane! It's...too washed out to really see what it is! This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're talking about The Snyder Cut. If you thought Batman and Superman had some differing views on the treatment of criminals, you ain't seen nothing yet! Who liked it? Who didn't? Who thinks that it should be fired into the sun in the hopes that will add just a little color to the dreary aesthetic? You'll have to listen to find out!

E73 - Happy Pi Day!
FullGrab a slice of pie, a scoop of ice cream, and get your calculator ready, because it's time for another episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast, recorded on (though not coming out on) Pi Day (3/14). This week we'll be talking all the nerd news worth discussing, including advances in a possible warp drive, Star Trek: Brave New Worlds, cons returning, and the series finale of WandaVision! Pull up a slice of peach pie, and join the fun!

E72: WandaVision Pt.1
FullIt was Agatha All Along! Sorry, I haven’t been able to get that out of my head for a couple weeks now! Welcome to a special After Dark episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. This week we’re going to be talking about WandaVision going into the finale of the series. We’re full of theories and thoughts (and booze) and only time (and the next episode) will prove us right or wrong. Theorizing on WandaVision leads us to more theorizing and talking about the rest of the MCU and our usual digressions onto other subjects.

E71 - Cara Done
FullTo paraphrase: This is not the way. This week on the Galactic Driftwood Podcast we're going to be talking about the news around Gina Carano and her recent ousting from Star Wars, as well as recent developments around Joss Whedon. But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom and politics. We've got plenty other stuff to talk about, from The Expanse to WandaVision!

E70 - The GameStop Saga
FullWe've got 99 problems and a lich is two of them! It's time for another episode of Galactic Driftwood! This week that party discusses the recent events surrounding the Gamestop stock saga. If you don't know exactly what was going on, we do our best to explain it. Also on the plate this week is the new Dungeons and Dragons supplement Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and the new options that its been giving us in the game we're playing. Join us, for all that and much, much more!

E69 - Schrödinger's Millionaire
FullIt is by will alone I set my mind in motion. Welcome to another episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast! This week we're talking about some of the various ... uhhh ... dangers of being lax with your digital security. We're also talking about Wonder Woman 1984 currently (but not for much longer) streaming on HBO Max and more Star Trek Discovery. Enjoy!

E68 - Everything Tastes Like Brains
FullThis is the way. That's right nerds; we're talking about The Mandolorian again! We've all seen the entire second season and we've got plenty to talk about with that last, spoilerific episode. So, consider yourself warned, if you haven't seen the season finale of The Mandolorian Season 2, this episode will spoil a bunch. And really, if you haven't seen it or had it spoiled by now I have to question whether you exist in our space time or not. We're also going to be talking killer robots (or possibly just creepy ones) along with our random assortment of random tangents. So, sit back, strap in, and listen along!

E67 - All Hail Carl, Judge, Jury, and Guardian of Time?
FullWarning: Spoilers Ahead for Star Trek: Discovery. Who is Carl and what is he capable of? Join us for a lively discussion on the current season of Star Trek: Discovery… and Carl. From the Mirror Universe to Doctor Who and comparisons on way in which time travel is handled, to sentient talking polar bears and the Dæmons of His Dark Materials, the possible end of movie theaters and the need to support your local gaming stores during the pandemic, we cover a lot of ground (and time & space) this episode. Also is Die Hard a Christmas movie? The verdict is in, see how we voted and let us know what you think in the comments section.

E66 - Happy Life Day
FullHappy Life Day! Yub nub, and what not! On this episode, the Galactic Driftwood Podcast gathers around a warm fire (not really, we're still in pandemic times here) and talks about the new Star Wars Lego Holiday Special that recently came out on Disney+. Or... at least that was the plan. We do talk about that but it leads pretty directly into talking about the Mandolorian for a decent chunk of time. If you want to find out where we digress from there you'll have to stay tuned!
