What in the heck did we just watch?! Welcome to another After Dark episode of the Galactic Driftwood Podcast. Every now and again, the captain lets us out on shore leave and we make some questionable decisions. Like letting our good friend and frequent guest, Benito Garcia choose the movie. That necessitates some sampling of your local intoxicants to help us deal with the experience. This time we subjected ourselves to Titane an ... interesting horror movie. "Who ya gonna call?!" It's a dark and stormy night, the lights have long since gone out, but the crew of the Galactic Driftwood can't sleep with all these ghosts around. Welcome back for part two of our away mission to Crofton, NE and the haunted Argo Hotel! Stu Burns is back to help us talk about our experience spending the night in the Argo Hotel itself! We spoke with the proprietors and they had some stories to tell us about their personal experiences. Did we have any close encounters of our own? The only way to find out is to listen!

"Look at all the bones! ... That rabbit's dynamite!" Greetings, Earthlings! As anthropologists, we understand that your primitive culture has a time of year that's more special than any other. Decorations come out, special treats are everywhere, and it truly is the happiest time of the year. In honor of your quaint Halloween customs, the crew has decided to go on an away mission, led by the Pastor of the Church of Nebraska Tourism and show favorite, Stu Burns! This is the first part of our two part trip to Crofton, NE to spend the night in the haunted Argo hotel! But that's the destination, and this episode is all about the journey! Specifically, we wanted to check out a couple sites on the way. This week we're talking about what we saw in Ashfalls, NE, a paleontological dig site where animal bones were preserved (after being killed by) ash from a super volcano eruption over 10 million years ago! We also visit the ghost town of Venus, NE. Don't worry, we've got the photos so check it out on YouTube!

"...if they be worthy, they shall possess the power of Thor." We're baaaaaaaaack! The U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood is sliding back into your local orbit with another episode, and this week we're discussing Thor: Love and Thunder, which is out of theaters and currently streaming on Disney+. This movie has our hosts divided, but no one has drawn phasers over it yet. While we're sorting that out, we'll also talk about Arcane, streaming on Netflix.

“As much of a tangent as we’ve gone on, I think we’ve gotten to a dark dark zone.” I think we might have been out in space too long. Captain Bill is starting to have some dark thoughts and Lt. Cmdr. Chris is along for the ride. Ostensibly we’re talking about the new Star Wars series Andor… but we’re gonna go down some rabbit holes. Some weird weird rabbit holes.

"There is only one Lord of the Ring. Only one who can bend it to his will. And he does not share power." The U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood is sailing through some rough space this week! In this episode we'll be talking about the new Lord of the Rings show on Amazon Prime and we are without a resident Tolkien expert. Turns out we know just enough about LotR to be wrong about a lot of stuff in what we've seen so far. For a fun game, get in the comments and let us know everything we got wrong. "Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream..." Even in the sci-fi future that the crew of the U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood needs to sleep every now and then. This week we watched and talked about the Sandman series, as airing on Netflix but originally written by Neil "Fucking" Gaiman. Unfortunately, there's some division in the crew as to whether or not this show rocks but thankfully, no one got pocket sand thrown in their face. Which would have been thematically appropriate but our matter replicators don't make sand anymore after the last "incident". Still, if you're on the fence, tune in and find out what the discussion is all about. Also, as usual, spoiler warning.

"You wouldn't like me when I'm angry." Welcome back to the bridge of the U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood. Unfortunately, Captain Bill and Commander Linda are out on an away mission in Las Vegas, but the rest of the crew carries on in their absence, scanning and documenting all the latest nerd-culture your quaint world has to offer. This week, we're taking a first look at She-Hulk, Disney+'s newest Marvel show. Did we love it? Did it make us... angry? The only way to find out is to listen (or watch and subscribe on YouTube!)

Captain's Log, stardate... uh, actually, we don't have those on Earth yet. So let's call it Earth-date, August 28th, 2022. Number One (aka Linda) and Number Two (aka Josh Caito) and I beamed into Bally's hotel and casino in Las Vegas for Creation Entertainment's "56 Year Mission" Star Trek convention. Our last trip to this "Kahn" (as attendees like to refer to it) was in 2019, before COVID, and thus a lot of things have changed! To start with, Creation Entertainment is no longer a member of the Federation (read: no longer the Paramount officially licensed conventioneer for Star Trek). So, what did that mean for this years Kahn? Stream this week's episode for a full report live from the convention site! Also, learn about a new, little-known, must-see scifi attraction near the heart of the Las Vegas strip.

Unfortunately, none of us have any direct experience with Predators... so it's probably best you hear what we have to say about the movie. 

"...to boldly go where no one has... wait. What's that?! NOPE!" Though delayed by a freak solar wind storm, the U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood has slid back into your relative orbital trajectory! We had something of a scare during the storm, so we're going to be sampling something that gives you terrans a scare: the new movie from Jordan Peele, Nope. We're happy to have Jenna back on the crew, along with recurring guest Stu Burns! Consider this your Spoiler warning tho, because we're going to be talking about plot points in the movie.

...or how to lose your friends for only all of your money. Bad news, everyone. During one of their planetary expeditions the entire crew of the U.S.S. Galactic Driftwood has come down with a really bad case of Collectible Cardgame-itis. The specific strain is Magic: The Gathering, or M:tG for short. Everyone's doing well, and learning how to handle their new mental compulsions (casting spells, buying sleeves, wondering what the hell that new mechanic is, attacking, blocking, and, of course, losing to the person who spent the most money on their deck). If you've never heard of this disease before, check the episode out! We'd love to infect some new... uhhh, create some new players! "I cast Magic Missile!" Greetings from the bridge of the USS Galactic Driftwood! There was a lot of entertainment news coming out this week, including a trailer for the new Dungeons and Dragons movie: Honor Among Thieves. In honor of the new movie coming out, we decided to go back 22 years to the first Dungeons and Dragons movie and ... wow. There's some speculation about why aliens haven't contacted earth yet, but I'll go ahead and spoil it for you: it's this movie. So, join us as we talk about a real stinker of a movie and all the ways it ISN'T like D&D.

When hell is full... you know that the crew of the Galactic Driftwood will be back to watch everything from a safe distance. That distance being orbit. Thankfully, hell still has room left and you can book your vacation now! Inner Worlds are colliding this week on Galactic Driftwood as we interview the writer, producer, and actor Katie Otten, and fellow actor Tim Mantil, from the new web series Inner Worlds. Inner Worlds is a story about a group of characters that are starting a Dungeons & Dragons campaign together but, unlike the majority of D&D series out on the Internet where people just record themselves playing their characters in a game, this is a story about a group of players themselves and how playing the game affects their lives and relationships in little ways and ultimately changes them as people over time. I mean your finest horror movies. Oh, who are we fooling. This week we're setting our replicators to "long pork" and reviewing Fresh, a horror movie currently streaming on Hulu. If you haven't guessed from my many hints, this movie involves eating people, so you've been warned. And if you don't want to spoil your food (or your movie) you might want to head over and check it out. Either way, you should tune into the show this week and leave us a comment about who... Well, we don't actually ask that exact question but dance around it. We've talked before about how the proliferation of streaming services impacts us, but now the grand-daddy of streaming, Netflix is having some troubles so it bears talking about again. The good crew of the Galactic Driftwood has another away mission to report on! This time Captain Danger (aka Bill) led a highly trained away mission to Lyons, Nebraska for the Third annual CosmicCon. Hidden away in this small town is a fellow mad scientist by the name of Bill Hedges, following his passion and running Cosmic Films Studio. Danger and the rest of the away team helped him do some filming for an upcoming project while taking in all the wonders that Bill has created there! Fandom is Family. We're back in your orbit again for another sampling of your pop-culture goods but this week is a little different. This time we checked out bio-filters (face masks), updated our immunizations (vaccine boosters), and Captain Danger sent out a couple of away teams.  While the others were checking in on Bill Hedges at CosmicCon 2022, Seth beamed down to check out ConStellation 11 in Lincoln Nebraska.
