I Googled Nude Yoga: FroKnowsPhoto RAWtalk Episode #079 Photography
EIt is true, I Google Nude Yoga not to participate but to see if there was information about it online. And boy oh boy was there but there was one major problem, the photos are terrible. Maybe my next project should be to photograph some nude yoga and to keep it fair I would photograph men and woman. This weeks show had a bunch of different topics that we talked about before jumping into the Photo News with Stephen. I shared my experience going and photographing the Philadelphia Flyers. From getting the pass to being told what location I was going to shoot at for the game. Stephen Sutter made his way back to the loft after driving for 18 hours straight. His road trip was supposed to take him to Massachusetts but ended up somewhere NOT EVEN CLOSE. Be sure to listen to see where in the world was Stephen SUTTER!!! If you are in Chicago I will be going to the Phillies Cubs game on Saturday afternoon. It is a 1:20pm CST start and I will be sitting in the bleachers. I would love for you guys to come on out and join me wherever we decide to sit in the bleachers. It seemed like a light photo news week with not to many major stories but Stephen found the good ones to share with you guys. Finally there were some very killer Flying Solo Questions that took our conversation down many many paths. What I love about RAWtalk is the fact that we have a lot of fun making it. My goal all along has been to not create a gear centric boring photography podcast like the majority that are out there. Sure I sing and interrupt Stephen from time to time, but that’s what makes it fun. What I can tell you though is that we make sure to always bring the show back around to photography and learning. The flying solo questions trigger so much information, that is why I continue to bring them to you every couple weeks Thank you guys for your continued support!!! A big thank you to AllensCamera.com, RODE Microphones, Squarespace.com/fro and ATOMOS. We LOVE our Atomos, it makes recording so much easer and better quality on our main angle.

Matisyahu LIVE in my LOFT: RAWtalk Photography Episode #078
EThis week I have Matisyahu LIVE from the Loft around the poker table for a very intimate interview. We also have a the first single off of Matisyahu’s latest Album. The track is called “Watch the Walls Melt Down” and you will only be able to hear it on the Audio portion of the podcast at the very end of the episode. I am sure you are wondering how this interview came about. A few years ago I contacted Matisayhu’s manger to ask for all access to spend the day taking photos. I offered up a simple trade, online usage of images in exchange for the access I needed to get the photos I had envisioned. I did not ask for money on that shoot, I simply wanted to show what I could do and knew it could lead to getting paid in the future, and it did. Matis was very open and candid in this interview. It’s not often we get to hear what it’s like to have the cameras pointed at you while you are on stage but Matis let us know. What I love about this interview is we talked about everything from the music industry to why he shaved. I really appreciate him taking the time to join me live in the loft for this interview. Kicking off this weeks show Stephen and I talk about shooting from the pit during the Arcade Fire Show. You know that three song rule we are always talking about, well we got screwed out of that on this one. I attempted to hand hold a 200-400 in the pit and give you some thoughts on wether or not I will do that again. We dove into a ton of photo news stories and we ended with the spinning of the Wheel of Fro once again!!! A big thank you goes out to RODE Microphones for their continued support of FroKnowsPhoto and RAWtalk. Be sure to check out the killer contest they are running at RodeMic.com .

The Wheel of Fro Stopped on WHAT???: RAWtalk Photography Episode #077
EWe have been spinning the Wheel of FRO for a few months now and we have yet to see this happen. You are going to have to see and hear our reaction when you see the outcome of this weeks SPIN. As always we set out to keep the RAWtalk to a manageable length and than I somehow end up going off on a tangent before we even get the show rolling. This week was no different, I riffed on the new D4s, I yelled and sang and I interrupted the Stephens... But what I can tell you is this was one of the most fun RAWtalk’s we have done. Don’t forget that all the photo news stories from this weeks episode can be found at FroKnowsPhoto.com/rawtalk-77 I hope you enjoy the show and check out both the Audio and Video.

JOEY L the INTERVIEW: RAWtalk Photography Episode #076
EJoey L has accomplished more as a photographer than photographers twice his age, strike that three times his age. If that didn’t catch your attention than his work will. His style is unique, distinct and sought after by major brands and companies. I recently sat down with Joey at his Brooklyn studio for an open and straight forward discussion that takes us back to where he started and how he got to where he is today. If you have been looking for that kick in the ass this interview might just do it. But before we get to the interview we have our regular scheduled business to attend to. I had some house cleaning to tend to from a couple of questions I answered in RAWtalk Episode #075. It turns out that yelling at a reader for buying an 18-200 TAMRON may have needed a little more context. We catch up on last weeks photo news with Stephen where we discussed a photographer crowd sourcing a d4s, an interview with Max Jackson and some other interesting topics. I want to thank RODE microphone for their support and don’t forget to check out their HUGE contest going on right here http://www.rodemic.com/myrodereel For more information on Joey L please check out his website https://www.joeyl.com/ To download this weeks Episode and check out the photo news go to http://froknowsphoto.com/rawtalk-76/

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Max Jackson Speaks Out For the First Time
A little over a week ago I got an email from Max Jackson’s father asking if we wanted to conduct the only interview with his son Max. For those who don’t remember who Max is we discussed his situation in great detail on RAWtalk Episode #073. The quick of it is he took photos of a Color Run event that the Color Run ended up asking for permission to use. They came to an agreement via a Facebook conversation where Color Run could use the images online in exchange for linking back to Max’s Facebook page. Fast forward a few months and Max’s photos started showing up in advertisements which was not part of the agreed upon usage rights. A lot went down after that including Max being sued by the Color Run and the short of it is that the case has settled out of court. So here we are with the first and only interview with Max since the entire thing started. I want to preface the interview by saying I had to choose my questions very carefully. I really could not dive to deep into the issues that put Max and the Color Run into the situation they ended up since they have a non disparage agreement. With that said I think there are some really solid take home points in this interview. We now know more about Max and his future endeavors than before. To watch this interview please go to http://froknowsphoto.com/max-jackson-speaks/

I Think I Got Up On the Wrong Side of the Bed: RAWtalk Photography Episode #075
EDo you ever have those days where you just might have woken up on the wrong side of the bed? Those days where little things tick you off and you just aren’t in a great mood? Well that was how I felt the morning we recorded this show. The smallest things were ticking me off which led me me YELLING at people. Now I was not yelling in a bad way or was it? Let’s see, I don’t think Tamron will ever talk to me not that they were talking to me to begin with. Sometimes it just feels good to let it out and rip a piece of CRAP lens to shreds. What I can say is as the show went on I started to wake up and get less upset. They say that talking things out can help, so I guess yelling them out has the same effect. Stephen hits us with his photo news followed by some Flying Solo with a little bit of yelling. Thank you to Atomos for their continued support and be sure to check out the NEW Ninja BLADE!!!!!

Introducing my NEXT Camera the Nikon D4s: RAWtalk Episode #074
EIt is always an exciting day when Nikon officially announces their latest high end DSLR. That is why we take the first part of this weeks show to discuss the Nikon D4s, my next camera. Yes I will be selling my D4 and purchasing the D4s as soon as it comes in. I got over all the important specs of this camera and explain why I will be upgrading it. After that lengthy discussion, Stephen and I jump into all of this weeks Photo News of which there is a lot. We revisit the Color Run Debacle as there was finally a resolution to the situation. Also for some odd reason Max’s father made a video just for Stephen and I thanking us for our support though I am pretty sure we didn’t exactly back his son. This weeks gear of the week was something that was left at my place after the filming of the next video guide was finished. Speaking of the NEW GUIDE, if you would like to stay up to date on the FroKnowsPhoto Guide to DSLR Video you can sign up t FroKnowsPhoto.com/dslr-video-guide . I will be rolling out behind the scenes footage and photos as I gear up to release it in the next few months. A few people on this list will be selected to be the first to check out the new guide as I need people to review it. I want to thank AllensCamera.com, RODE Microphones, Atomos and Squarespace for their support. I also want to thank everyone on the Wheel of Fro.

The Color Run Debacle, Who's to Blame: RAWtalk Episode #073
EOver the past few days there has been a developing story involving a young photographer and the Color Run. The photographer Max claims that the color run used one of his images in an advertisement without compensating him. He asked for $100,000 and the color run decided to sue him. Stephen and I don't jump to conclusions and try to look at all the facts that we have. At the time of this recording the outcome was still up in the air. By the time this goes live word has come down that the Color Run and Max have come to an agreement. To read the full story please go to FroKnowsPhoto.com/rawtalk-73. Before we went off on a long discussion about the Color Run we had a tremendous amount of Photo News from Stephen that really was interesting. We also discussed the first three days of the filming of the new FroKnowsPhoto Guide to DSLR Video. I decided it would be a good idea to have 30 flying solo questions this week that ended up taking us close to the two hour mark once again, sorry Stephen. Please be sure to subscribe to the Podcast on iTunes, Sticher or anywhere else you download podcasts from. You will be the first to have access to the new episodes as soon as they go live. I want to thank this weeks sponsor ATOMOS for all of their support. Check out the Atomos Ninja 2 and see if it is the right fit for your video needs. We use the Ninja 2 each week on RAWtalk to give us almost unlimited video recording from a DSLR.

Stephen is going to HATE ME, A Two Hour RAWtalk: Episode #072
ELast week both Stephen and I were out of town. Stephen was in New Orleans attending his brothers wedding and I was out in LA photographing Matisyahu for his latest album. Being that we recorded Episode #071 a few days earlier than normal we had a few extra days between tapings. You know what that means, Stephen will be angry that we talked for TWO HOURS this week. That is what happens when you have a ton of photo news, a ton of stories from the road and a really solid Flying Solo portion. And how can we forget our new sidekick and resident Hipster Mr Stephen Sutter who had some fantastic input this week. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast on Itunes, sticher or anywhere else you get your podcast audio. If you would like to watch RAWtalk shot with four cameras you can do so the day after the audio goes live.

Tattooed Brides Are HOT!!!: RAWtalk Episode #071
ETalk about exploiting a niche to it's fullest. That is exactly what our guest Mike Allebach has done in the wedding industry with Tattooed Brides. You have to listen to Mike speak about why and how he built his very successful wedding photography business around alternative weddings most notably weddings featuring Tattoos. If you can find a niche and exploit it you can find yourself on top of an industry. People are always asking what can I do to stand out in this very crowded industry. Well, you can find out by listening to this weeks guest. There will be no photo news this week as both Stephen and I spent most of the week out of town. We recorded the podcast earlier than normal to make sure we did not leave you guys hanging. Postman Fro did make another stop at my place to bring me some fancy new lights to test out from F and V lighting. He also brought me a nice white box with my NEW 27 inch Imac!!! We dive into Stephens fun day of shooting a concert outdoors in the snow as well as discuss my trip to LA to photograph Matisyahu. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast on Itunes, stitcher or anywhere else you may be listening to the audio. As always the audio hit’s Monday’s as midnight and the video goes live on Tuesdays. Thank you to AllensCamera.com for their continued support. Thank you to RODE Microphones and Atomos for their killer gear that helps us record high quality content week in and week out.

A Vegas Recap, A Ranty McRanterson, 2X Wheel of FRO and Flying Solo: RAWtalk #070
EA Vegas Recap, A Ranty McRanterson, 2X Wheel of FRO and Flying Solo: RAWtalk #070 This week we dive into a little bit of a recap about our Vegas Vacation which included meeting the one and only Ron Jeremy. Along with a discussion about Stephens fun flight home with only a half a seat lol. Since we did a little bit of flying I had to RANT just a little bit about the boarding procedure from US AIR. The process makes no sense and really shows how well Southwest Airlines does the boarding procedure. One of the issues we face as photographers is asking for the sale. How much should we charge and if the client doesn't accept but offers less do you take it? I give a little insight into an upcoming photo shoot at the negotiating behind it. I can't forget that we have TWO NEW items for the Wheel of FRO and 2X the spins this week. We have Photo News, Flying Solo and much more on this weeks RAWtalk Episode #070.

What happens in VEGAS ends up on RAWtalk Episode #069
EWelcome to the first ever RAWtalk from the road in Las Vegas. Unlike the ad "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" what happens in vegas actually ends up on RAWtalk. First off why were we in Vegas in the first place? I got asked to speak at an event for a company called ClickBank. I was on the panel to help answer as many questions as possible to help people make it online. The second reason I was there was to attend the AVN's. If you're not sure what that is, make sure the kids are not around when you conduct your search. Now onto this weeks RAWtalk. I flew Stephen out to join me to not only do RAWtalk but make some fun content while there. The setup was pretty similar to what we have at home except we did not have the poker table or any extra lights. So when you are watching the show you will notice that the lighting shifts and changes as the sun goes down. All and all we were very pleased with how everything came out especially for our first RAWtalk on the road.

We tried to keep this show to an hour, WE FAILED: RAWtalk Episode #068
EHere at RAWtalk headquarters aka my LOFT we attempt to do a one hour show each week. Much to Stephens chagrin we tend to miss the mark. Lucky for you, you get more RAWtalk just about every week including this one. This week we take a look at the NEW GEAR that was announced at CES. Was there a lot of major announcements from the big guns, no not really. Canon had ZERO, Nikon had three things including something sort of like a D4s and fuji had some random cool toys. Other than that I am glad I did not go to CES this year. What are your thoughts on third party lenses??? I had a reader tweet at me to never recommend a sigma lens again. I of course had a nice discussion to find out why he said that and that's what I talked about on the show. Finally we get into the first FLYING SOLO of 2014 and I have to say the questions were on FIRE this week. Thank you guys for downloading, listening and watching RAWtalk. This weeks show is sponsored by ATOMOS which you know we have been using for a few weeks now. And RODE microphones which if you have ears you will be able to hear the quality of the microphones we are using.

A Ranty Mc Ranterson of Explicit Proportions and a NEW LOGO: RAWtalk Episode #067
EWelcome to the first RAWtalk of 2014, we are back!!!!! First off did you see the NEW RAWtalk Logo yet, did ya, did ya? If not take a look at your phone, computer screen or the video to check it out. One of my goals for this years RAWtalks is to try and stay on point as much as possible while keeping the show fun and informative. Now I am not sure if I fully succeeded this week or not but I think worked out very well. Stephen and I discussed the last meet up of the year where we met a ton of Fro readers to see and discuss the Pulitzer prize winning photos. We jumped into photo news which was really light this week due to CES starting after we recorded this weeks episode. This weeks show wraps up with an explicit Rant on Banks and how they love to screw people any way they can. Wether it's fees on top of fees or hidden changes no one ever told you about. Please be sure that the kids have earmuffs on before listening to this portion of RAWtalk. I guess when I get passionate I may curse slightly, so be warned and enjoy this weeks episode.

This is the FINAL EPISODE.....RAWtalk #066
EDon't worry this is not the FINAL EPSIDE of RAWtalk ever, just the final one for the year. To kick off this weeks Episode we discuss the recent Bootcamp in New Orleans followed by my few days off in Florida. As this is the final episode of the year I thought it would be good to look bad at some of the predictions I made last year as well as take a look into what I think will be coming in 2014. What do you think will be coming in the photography industry? I ended up getting sidetracked and started talking about peoples profile pictures on Match.com. I really have to make a tutorial for how take better pictures on dating profiles. As always we jump into Stephens Photo News with extra distractions followed by Wheel of FRO and Flying Solo. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has listened or watched RAWtalk this year!!!

He is ONLY 24 and is on ESPN!!!! RAWtalk Episode #065
EDave Leno at the age of 24 has attained success that has eluded people twice his age. He has called sporting events for ESPN, the Big 10 Network and countless other outlets. He is great on camera for the televised games and superb with his calls on radio. You may be wondering why would I have a sports caster on RAWtalk? The reason is you can learn a lot from how Dave has been able to attain the success he has. You will hear how he got his first jobs, what jobs he does for free and how he continues to build his portfolio. This is one of those interviews that I think you will take a ton from if you sit back and give it a shot. Before my interview with Dave, Stephen and I hit up the weeks photo news and topics. Right before we recorded news came down that Instgram had a major update. We both think this update is pretty interesting though we have yet to use it to it's fullest extent yet. Be sure to download this weeks and all past RAWtalks at FroKnowsPhoto.com/podcast

OOOOOOPPPPPS We Messed Up and We're Sorry: RAWtalk Episode #064
ESometimes it's just easier to say "sorry" when you make a mistake. And last week we made an ooooppppss on the video portion of the RAWtalk. My camera angles focus was off which means we could not cut to it the entire show. But honestly, this type of thing happens and it just makes us more aware and prepared for the future. Just remember the quickest way to diffuse a situation is to own up to it. Now that that's out of the way Stephen and I catchup on how our Thanksgiving's were as well as talk about why I didn't get a pass for Jingle Ball. I ranty Mc Ranterson on the US Postal Service when I showed up and the post office was CLOSED. I rant again on "Black Friday" sales followed by extended "Back Friday" sales followed by yada yada yada sales, give me a BREAK!!!. We discuss Gary Vaynerchuck on Chase Jarvis Live as well as preview his new book "Jab Jab Jab Right Hook". Which if you would like to win a FREE Copy you will have to listen to that portion of the podcast. I need your help, I am looking for quotes that you find inspiring or funny from any of the podcasts or videos. Please e mail them to me at jared at FroKnowsPhoto.com with the subject line "quotes". Be sure to include the link to the video along with the quote and the time it appears. There are even a few more topics before but we can't forget Photo News with Stephen. Enjoy this weeks Epiosde and don't forget to check out FroKnowsPhoto.com/rawtalk-64 for the Photo News articles and more.

The Holiday Buying Guide for Photographers: RAWtalk Episode #063
EAs the holidays roll around we decided this week to dive into some gifts that we consider safe to purchase for photographers. Purchasing gifts for photographers is not easy. One because photography is expensive and two because you really don't know what someone needs or wants. So Stephen brought in a few items that may make your photographer friends crack a smile. This was the first week we had a contestant for the Wheel of FRO spinning!!!! The first contestant who was selected off of twitter was "Troy Heckler" and you will have to tune in to see what prize he will be walking away with. If you watch the video portion of the podcast we have to say OOOOPPPPPS and apologize. The reason we have to apologize is the main angle on me somehow shifted out of focus meaning we will not be cutting to that angle at all. This is a good warning to anyone filming out there to double or triple check your angles before and during recording to make sure everything is tack sharp. But shit happens, you learn form it, move on and try not to make the same mistake again. I hope you understand and keep coming back for me. Lucky for us we tested out a new angle using the Atomos Ninja 2 which allows us to use the D800 and 14;24 2.8 to give us a much better looking wide-angle. Enjoy this weeks episode and don't forget to @FroKnowsPhoto with #WheelOfFRO on twitter or Facebook.

Who wants to SPIN the Wheel of FRO!!!: RAWtalk Episode #062
EWho wants to SPIN the Wheel of Fro and win some great prizes!!!!! Well someone is going to have that chance if they listen of what they will need to do in order to be the first person to step up to the Wheel of Fro. Have you seen any sponsored Instagram photos yet? Stephen and I have and we both actually liked it. I have no problem with them running sponsored photos like that if they continue to be really cool. Also I never thought that instagram would be a way to pick up girls at the bar but it is. Your going to have to find out what I mean in this weeks episode of RAWtalk. For those who may be deaf, hard of hearing or like to read captions, RAWtalk Episode #61 officially has subtitles for your enjoyment. It is my hope to have more and more videos uploaded with subtitles. Postman Fro was busy this week brining us two killer toys. The first was the RODE Video Mic GO a $99 must have microphone. Second was the Atomos Ninja 2 which we are dying to try out on the D800. Finally we finish the week with some flying solo now with more Stephen. Be sure to check out this weeks VIDEO and download the MP3 over at FroKnowsPhoto.com/podcast

Jared, Stop Singing And Answer the Questions: RAWtalk Episode #061
ESometimes I like to sing, okay more than sometimes I like to sing. This week it seemed that everything Stephen said turned into a song on my part. But don't worry there was still a ton of photo knowledge dispensed this week. We did have a light week on photo news but a very heavy week of Flying Solo. Sit back, grab a drink even if it's not alcoholic and enjoy this weeks edition of FroKnowsPhoto RAWtalk. Don't forget that the FroKnowsPhoto 2013 Holiday Sale and Contest is going on. Be sure to check out FroKnowsPhoto.com/contest.

An Interview with my High School Photo Teacher: RAWtalk Episode #060
EIt's time we catch up on ALL the photo news. Since we did not have the photo news in the last two episodes we had a lot of catch up to do. One of the biggest news stories of the last few weeks was the lead up to the Nikon Df announcement. Many of you may be wounding why Stephen or I did not get in on the "rumors", you will find out in this weeks Episode. After we catch up on all the news there is a very special interview that I conducted. I sat down with my high school teacher who showed me the way as a new photographer. He is the reason I do not crop and fill the frame. This is a very personal interview that I hope lets you reflect on a teacher that you had that made a difference in your direction and life. As always this weeks episode is available as a Video Podcast as well over on the web site. For the full information and all the news stories we discussed please check out FroKnowsPhoto.com/rawtalk-60.

The BIG BIG BIG Photo Show, Show: RAWtalk Episode #059
EWhat do you get when you mix a late night RAWtalk session with a small bit of drinking? You get the recap of this years PPE in NYC. Stephen and I spent one entire day roaming the show floor of the Javitz center playing with toys and interviewing booth babes. We spend most of this show discussing what we thought of the show before we jump into your flying solo questions that pertained to the show. The first part of the show is spent on the recap and the last part is the actual audio from the show floor. You may want to tune over to the website though to see the video that accompanies the audio. All I can say is we had fun and hope you guys enjoy this weeks RAWtalk Episode. Be sure to check out FroKnowsPhoto.com/podcast for this and all past episodes of RAWtalk.

The tables were turned on me: RAWtalk Episode #058
EThe tides were turned and I was the guest on the BlackRapid Podcast a few weeks back in Seattle. Let me explain why you are hearing this interview this week. Stephen and I were up in NYC at the Photo show filming on the show floor on Thursday and I was back up there on Saturday. We wanted to put together a special podcast from the photo show in NYC. So what is happening is Stephen is editing together the best interviews and clips from our filming and we will have a special podcast next week. We will be back around the poker table to discuss the fans we met, gear we saw and the fun times we had. I hope you enjoy this little role reversal this week. Please support AllensCamera.com as they have been behind me since day one. If you are looking for anything NIKOK new or used please give them a chance.

We Went Photo Walking and found a Fiddler on the Roof: RAWtalk Episode #056
ELast Saturday a bunch of Fro Readers met Stephen and I in Philadelphia for a last minute FrotoWALK. Unlike some of my other FrotoWALKS we actually walked around the city looking for and capturing images. I had a fantasy time and met some truly great people. As you know, I have been working with Adam to get the FroKnowsPhoto Flash Guide out into the world!!!! Well I am proud to announce that it has been unleashed into the wild and you can find it at FroKnowsPhoto.com/flashguide We hammer home Stephens Photo News this week along with a pretty cool gear of the week all before we FLY SOLO!!!! RAWtalk Episode #055: Is this the KEY to making it???
EOn this weeks RAWtalk I sit down with someone who has created a very selective directory of photographers to help them stand out in a noisy word. Stephen and I discuss the Photo News of the week along with a few other topics. Playing on the theme of standing out in this noisy world I discuss a new book from my friend Gary Vaynerchuck called Jab Jab Jab Right Hook. This book is poised to give you that kick in the butt you have been looking for to help your photography grow. Finally the gear of the week comes from RODE who sent me out some new over the ear microphones to try out on an upcoming RAWtalk Episode. We live in a crowded world of photographers "trying" to make it. Many people want to know how to get noticed and I think I have found one answer. Wonderful Machine is not your typical "agency", in fact they don't consider themselves an agency at all. Agencies take a percentage of your business and WM does not. Wonderful Machine can more accurately be described as a photographer directory and that is extremely important. Be sure to listen to the interview I conducted with WM founder Bill Cramer and find out if you have what it takes to be added to their machine. I know so many of you out there want to know what the secret is to making it. The truth, there is no secret, it's a mix of hard work, meeting the right people with a small mix of being in the right place at the right time, AKA luck. Enjoy this weeks RAWtalk and don't forget to check out the 54 previous episodes of FroKnowsPhoto RAWtalk. This weeks RAWtalk is brought to you by all things NIKON at AllensCamera.com . If you are looking for a new body, lens or accessories please be sure to check out all the Nikon gear at AllensCamera.com

RAWtalk Episode #54: I Sleep Molest My Girlfriend!!!
EDo you sleep molest your girlfriend? For an explanation of why this topic came up on this weeks RAWtalk you will have to give it a listen. As you guys may recall from last weeks RAWtalk Stephen and I were both away this week. Stephen was in Vegas and I was at Creative LIVE in Seattle. I have to say Stephen had one of my biggest fears while traveling actually happen to him, I hope it never happens to me. We hit hard as we get back into the photo news, discussion topics, gear of the week and the flying solo portion. Be sure to check out FroKnowsPhoto.com/podcast to watch the full HD version of RAWtalk. Enjoy this weeks episode.

RAWtalk Episode #053: Don't Leave Us Hanging
EStephen was in Vegas and I was in Seattle so we had to record this weeks RAWtalk about two weeks early. The reason we did this is we didn't want to leave you hanging without an episode. Since we recorded early there wont be any photo news but if I am being honest I really enjoyed the banter throughout the entire episode. Thought we didn't have news I think it flows really reall well. Oh yea we had a special guest in the studio this week, Mr Sam Green!!!! For those who don't know who Sam is you will hear his story during this weeks conversation. Being that we had some extra time I also included a flying solo portion to answer as many questions as possible. My favotite part of this week is when I was asked to sing a Limp Bizket song. All I can say is you've gotta have FAITH!!!!!! Enjoy this weeks episode that is sponrosed by Squarespace. For 10% off use code FRO9 at Squarespace.com/fro

RAWtalk Episode #052 The DSLR is DEAD!!!

RAWtalk Episode #051 Made In America
Made in America is a music festival that is put on in Philadelphia by Jay Z and Budweiser. It draws some of the largest acts in the world and brings over 100,000 people to a two day concert. This was the second year that Stephen and I would be photographing the event and boy do we have some stories for you. I though it would make for a great RAWtalk topic and it definitely did. If you listened last week you would have heard Shawn Corrigan talk about how he was going right from my loft to the airport to fly back to LA. Well, he ended up not getting on that flight, be sure to keep an ear out this week to find out why. As always we bring you the weeks Photo News and you can find the full stories over on the podcast page. This weeks RAWtalk is sponsored in part by RODE microphones. Be sure to check out their deal that is running until the end of September to get a FREE copy of a killer $199 software.

RAWtalk Episode #050: Confessions of a World Traveling Photographer
This week I sat down with a long time friend Shawn Corigan who has been traveling the world as a professional photographer/videographer for the better part of ten years. You will find out how Shawn worked his way into the music scene first as a guitar tech and later on as a photographer and videographer. Shawn touches on how he became a go to assistant for a few big name photographers. Speaking of assisting Shawn is looking for a good assistant in the LA area so if that is you be sure to listen closely to our interview. Stephen hits us with more photo news and I discuss a very controversial subject of photographing same sex weddings. Be sure to Download this weeks RAWtalk. If you have missed any past RAWtalk episodes be sure to subscribe on itunes as well as download all past episodes.

RAWtalk Episode #49: I Went to the Dark Side
I know it sounds like I went to Canon, well I actually did. I went to Canon headquarters for a little meeting at their new facility in New York. I got a call a few weeks back asking if I would like to go up to Canon for a meeting and I figured this would be a good chance to be seen by everyone at Canon. For the record, they paid for transportation, hotel and a few drinks at dinner. For the full story as to what I saw when I was up there be sure to listen to this weeks RAWtalk. Stephen hits us with his photo news and I attempt to sing some country songs before jumping into this weeks flying solo portion of the show. Don't forget to subscribe on iTunes as well as download this weeks episode as an MP3.

RAWtalk 048: A Little Bit of This and That
We are back with a Little Bit of This and a Little Bit of That on this weeks RAWtalk Episode #048. After that last two weeks combining for to be a two hour episode I was attempting to keep this latest one to an hour, I failed. We jumped right into photo news and hit on seven or eight interesting stories. You can find details and information about each news story over at FroKnowsPhoto.com/rawtalk-48. Like the title says we cover al title bit of this and a little bit of that. I had a follow up to the "In My Opinion" episode where a FRO reader received a letter letting them know that they made honorable mention. I get back into the giving my opinion mode during this segment. Next up I got an e mail asking if a photo contract was worth signing in order to photograph a band. You really are going to need to hear what this contract asked him to sign to believe it. Finally I finish with your FLYING SOLO questions which as always are full of great questions.

RAW Talk 048: The Music, Low Light Concert Show Part 2
I hope you enjoyed part one of Episode #47 last week as much as we did. If you have not listened to Part 1, you may want to do so before jumping into this latest episode. For those who did hear Part 1 last week, you are going to really love Part 2, where Stephen and I jump into the week's photo news and discuss the new ZOOM H6 that came in the mail. Not only will you find the photo news preview video below, but you can find all the stories and more that were discussed in this week's episode.

RAW Talk 047: The Music, Low Light Concert Show Part 1
What started out as a regular RAWtalk episode to discuss music, low light and concert photography turned into an almost two-hour marathon of killer information. I ended up splitting it into two episodes, with part one airing this week and part two coming next week. As always, I sit down with Stephen to discuss the week's photo news, which brings us some pretty interesting stories. I asked Stephen to stay a while and join in on the low light / concert discussion being that he has shot a ton of shows over the past few years. After that, I moved into the Flying Solo portion of the show where I took your questions about shooting concerts. Our conversation was so in-depth that we didnt get to the flying solo portion of the show until late in the episode, so we'll be featuring some of the material in next week's show. Enjoy this weeks RAWtalk and be sure to download Part 2 next week.

RAW Talk 046: In My Opinion
This week, I hit on a topic about which I had to be very very careful how I chose my words. There is a fine line between one's opinion and what could be perceived as something else. I am still choosing my words wisely as I write up this description. I am talking about a photo contest that is a legitimate photo contest but chooses a lot of winners and asks you to purchase a photo book with your photo in it. How many times do I say "in my opinion" during this week's RAWtalk? Please leave a comment on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube with the number. Finally, we can't forget photo news with Stephen where he shares with us the week's highlights while we also celebrate his birthday.

RAW Talk 045: An Interview with Dom Savini and Rapid Fire Flying Solo
Welcome to another week of FroKnowsPhoto RAWtalk. This week, Stephen and I bring you the photo news from the previews week, including a massive image sensor coming out of China, more goodies from Magic Lantern, a new way to store 360 Terabytes of data and a huge tin-type camera. Joining me this week at the RAWtalk poker table is professional photographer Dom Savini. Dom is a fantastic photographer, who, amongst other things, photographs the Philadelphia Eagles' cheerleaders. Dom dispenses some excellent tips on starting out in photography and how to book jobs in your career. Finally, I wrapped up this week's RAWtalk with Rapid Fire Flying Solo session where Stephen put 10 minutes on the clock and I answered as many questions as possible. Don't forget to subscribe on iTunes or your iOS/Android device to automatically download the latest RAWtalk episodes when they go live.

RAW Talk 044: The Wedding Show
Always a bridesmaid never a bride. Weddings, weddings, weddings, everyone wants to know how to shoot weddings. Continuing on the themed style show this week, I sat down to talk all things wedding photography. You guys supplied some fantastic questions that took this episode to a new length, literally. If you didn't have the itch to shoot weddings before, you might just have it after listening to this week's show.

Bonus Exclusive Special: Antonelli Institute
As many of you know, I studied at the Antonelli Institute of Graphic Design and Photography and when they asked me to come back and speak to the entire photography class, I jumped on that opportunity. They didn't tell me what to say, other than to be myself and say it like it is. What do you say to a hundred photographers, half of whom will be graduating only days later? Do you tell them they won't find jobs out there? No. Do you tell them it's hard to make it? Yes, but in a way that gives them a direction to be successful. My goal with speaking to the class was to try and give them a realistic look at things they can do to be heard in this very crowded world of photography. I really hope you enjoy this speech and are able to take something from it.

RAW Talk 043: The Marketing Hour
Do you want to know how to better market your photography? Tuning in this week to the Marketing Hour would be advised. As usual, Stephen and I hit on all the latest photo news from the week, including the announcement of the Canon 70D. Following the news, the show turns into the Marketing Hour. I put out the word on Facebook that I was looking for marketing questions and you guys supplied me with so many good ones that this episode goes on for an extra half hour. It went on so long that the battery in the GoPro decided to die on me. Sit back and enjoy both the audio and video of this week and get ready for some killer nuggets of marketing information.

RAW Talk 042: No, Ken Rockwell is Not on This Week
As the title says, Ken Rockwell is not on this week's RAWtalk, but that's not for a lack of trying. You will hear his response to my invitation in the first few minutes of this week's episode. It was a busy news week filled with new cameras from Fuji and Samsung. We'll also discuss the meritos of Instagram Video vs Vine and the latest addition to Google Street View, which now takes us to the tallest building in the world. Be sure to keep an EAR out for some secret words. When you hear something that you think is secret-word worthy, be sure to tweet it with the hashtag #RAWtalk or post it on the Facebook Fan page with the same tag. Rounding out this episode, I answer your questions during the FLYING SOLO portion of the podcast.

RAW Talk 041: Levels, Check My Levels
On this week's RAWtalk, Stephen and I discuss some of the major news stories from the prior week. SIGMA finally announced pricing for its much anticipated 18-35 F1.8 lens. A photographer is suing BuzzFeed for $3.9 Million. Is this the Canon 3D in this blurry photos??? Rumors are flying that Adobe may drop the price of Photoshop and Creative Cloud soon and NASA gives us a first-hand look at what cameras are on the Mars Curiosity Rover. Get ready for another action-packed, levels busting Flying Solo Portion of RAWtalk where I answer your questions directly.

RAW Talk 040: Bob Gruen, John and Yoko's Personal Photographer
I had the opportunity to head up to New York City to interview one of the most famous Rock Photographers ever, Bob Gruen. Bob captured Rock and Roll in its heyday, living with bands, joining them on the road and sharing in the lifestyle. He captured one of the most recognizable images in the history of music photography: John Lennon wearing his New York City T-Shirt. Could you image being asked to be John and Yoko's personal photographer? Being that close to one of the most respected and successful musicians of all time? Bob was more than just a photographer for them, he was their friend. I sat down with Bob in his studio in NYC for this candid conversation that could shave gone on for hours. The stories are awe inspiring and leave you wanting to hear more. Lucky for you a documentary on Bob's work was just released on Showtime so please check your local listings for the viewing schedule. To check out Bob's photo books you can do an amazon search for Bob Gruen. Enjoy this once in a lifetime conversation with Bob Gruen.

RAW Talk 039: You're Fired
Last week the Chicago Sun Times decided to axe its entire photography staff in favor of freelancers and reporters with iPhones. We had to cover this discussion in more detail because it was so out there. You will not believe the quotes that came from the people who made this decision, WOW. Stephen sits down to bring us the week's Photo News stories, which include a NEW image sensor that is 1000x more sensitive to light, a band trying to sell photo passes to their shows for $150 and a memory card that will allow for RAID storage. Be sure to download this week's episode on iTunes or give it a watch on YouTube.

RAW Talk 038: Canon 1D X Chronicles
Thanks to BorrowLenses.com I have been playing with the Canon 1D X and a bunch of the pro lenses. It has long been my goal to play with the top of the line Canon and compare it to my Nikon D4. This week I start to discuss some differences between the two cameras to start to formulate a comparison review. All I can say is I am enjoying using the Canon 1D X and all the pro glass that came with it. This week Stephen is back with more photo news ranging from Flickr Hacks to Photographers fighting in Paris to hidden war photos from 40 years ago. I wrap up this week with a spirited Flying Solo portion where I was on FIRE with my responses. Just remember my responses are in good fun and not meant to be taken as if I am angry at all.

RAW Talk 037: Huge Changes from Flickr
What a week it was for Flickr, they launch a totally redesigned site, they do away with pro accounts, give you 1TB of photo storage for FREE and their CEO says there is no such thing as Professional Photographers anymore. We will discuss this and more along with a special interview with Adam Lerner discussing his recent magical trip to Cuba.

RAW Talk 036: No Title Needed
On this week's RAWtalk, Stephen is back with a bunch of the industry Photo News including three stories about Canon. We also revisit the Adobe Creative Cloud discussion before moving into the Flying Solo portion on this week's episode. Be sure to keep an ear our for secret phrases to tweet and post on Facebook. Don't forget to subscribe on iTunes as you will be the first each week to automatically be sent the new RAWtalk.
