Ep 81Season 21/22 Preview and memories of TC with Phil Tottle

Phil's now retired and living in Clevedon but for over 30 years his was the voice of Radio Bristol's matchday coverage of Bristol City. He, like myself and other reporters, used to travel with the team on matchdays in the 80s so we got to know the players and manager Terry Cooper who sadly passed away at the weekend. In addition to reviewing City's prospects for this coming season Phil talks with fondness for TC and recalls his selfless act in letting Clive Middlemass and long serving scout Jock Rae lead the team out on to the Wembley pitch on that memorable day in 1986 Hosted on Acast. Ep 80Scott must start, a review of Aston Villa at Ashton Gate

In over 50 years of supporting City there hasn't been barely a handful of occasions when an under-21 player has broken into the first team and you think, bloody hell... he's really good!I'll give you a few names: Gerry Gow, Clive Whitehead, Rob Newman, Andy Cole [21 when signed on loan].I think in Alex Scott we have someone who can add to that list. Ian and Dave P give their thoughts on the Villa action including assessing individual performances and trying to predict what the line up might be for the Season 21/22 opener vs. Blackpool next Saturday Hosted on Acast. Ep 78"You'll never win anything with kids" - last half hour vs Celtic offered hope

Those words were uttered by Alan Hansen in the mid-90s when Man Utd had a young side bristling with the talent of Beckham, Scholes, and the Neville brothers and whilst the likes of Pring, Massengo, Bakinson and Conway are not quite in the same league ability wise I saw enough in that last 30 minutes against Celtic to invigorate my enthusiasm for the coming season. For me the more experienced line up that featured for the first hour brought back memories of last season and who would argue that the game in its later stages was played at a pace that had been lacking early on.In this episode Headhunter, DaveFevs, Ian & Mark review the performances of individuals and formation whilst assessing who would or would not be a loss if they were no longer here by the end of the transfer window. What we did agree on is the need for a prolific goalscorer but how that is funded, who knows?Final we give a view on England in Euro 2020 and how they can progress from here. Hosted on Acast. Ep 77Summer on the City ... DaveFevs and DaveP talk Euros, squad rebuild and fixtures

DaveFevs and I spent an hour talking about variety of topics being discussed on OTIB & TwitterOn the Euros we looked at the form of Nagy, Kalas & former player Joe Morrell. On squad rebuild we rate how its going and speculate on a predicted line up for August 7thWe give a cursory glance over the fixture list and note the skewing of home games towards the first half : after the NYD game against Millwall there are only 9 games between then and the end of the season Hosted on Acast. Ep 76In Conversation with ... Shaun Taylor

At age 23 Shaun was a late entrant in the world of professional football when joining Exeter City in 1986. He played 200 games there winning the [then] 4th Division Championship before a move to Swindon Town.He was an ever present in 92/93 season scoring a Flintesque 13 goals as that lot down the M4 secured promotion to the Premier League. Again an ever present in that one season in the top flight, two successive relegations followed before he led the side back to the Championship.Shaun's move to City for £50k came in September 1996 and although missing the last 10 games of the season through injury he'd already established himself as a firm favourite with the fans with his tough uncompromising style.97/98 is the season he will be remembered for as he captained the side to promotion under John Ward. Had Goater not been sold and Shaun not suffered injury in the top of the table clash with Watford with 3 games remaining City probably would have gone up as Champions rather than runners-up.That injury against Watford perhaps more than anything contributed to that single season [98/99] in the Championship as he did not play until 8 games from the end and by then City's relegation was all but secured.Shaun hung up his boots in 2000 but stayed on the coaching staff until 2005 then followed spells with FGR ,Exeter and Torquay.Still living in his native Devon, Shaun is now a Maintenance Manager for a local care home group. How we could have done with someone possessing his character and commitment in recent years! Ep 74In conversation with ..... John Ward: Manager BCFC 1997-98

John Ward's managerial record at City for me, as a fan looking back, is defined by three things: a marvellous season that brought about promotion back to the [now] Championship after a 3 year absence, a questionable summer '98 transfer window and asking for help after a 9 game winless run at the start of the 98/99 season.Wardy is a top man and to my mind should have been here longer than 84 games. He would have won the league as opposed to being runners up to Watford had top scorer Shaun Goater not been sold with 8 games remaining. As you'll hear in the interview, the summer transfer dealings were, in part, not down to him and no one would have argued with Ray Harford coming in to provide the help he perhaps naively admitted he needed. John made his name in football as a player with Lincoln City [91 goals, 240 appearances] which is where he met the late Graham Taylor whom he later served under and enjoyed considerable success with at both Watford and Villa. Prior to City he managed the Gas for a period and again 16 years later. In between he took Cheltenham from League 2 to League 1.He turned 70 last month and his involvement in the game sees him act as a mentor to young coaches through the LMA.One of football's nice guys, I can't think why anyone would disagree with that. Ep 73No more excuses

City closed the door to the 2020-21 season with the not unexpected defeat against high flying Brentford going down 3-1 with the visitors Ivan Toney grabbing one of the goals to achieve a Championship record.Ian, DaveFevs, Mark & DaveP discuss the action from a match where for the opening half they matched their opponents in every department but in the second, particularly with goals 2 & 3 the Bees displayed a standard of forward play that City should be aiming for.We debate that although only 17 Alex Scott has the ability to be a player for the present and perhaps too goalscorer Louis Britton and that means staying in Bristol rather than going out on loan next season.Who will be shown the door in the coming days and who might be retained are other topics we discuss along with speculation that Dave Rennie might reunite with Nigel Pearson within days to sort the medical shambles at the club and cast his eye over the players before they go on holiday. No wins in the last 10 and although 25 defeats fell short of the record [27] set in 2012-13 a paltry 51 points just isn't good enough. It's down to you Nige going forward - we know you can do it and accept it may take a while!! Ep 72Where was the hope for next season?

A fine first goal at senior level for rookie striker Tommy Conway was the only bright spot from another dreadful showing by City at the New Den.Confirmed in his position as manager this week, Nigel Pearson made a number of changes including a start for Nathan Baker on the left of a back three with Mariappa in for the injured Zak Vyner on the right. This allowed captain Tomas Kalas to play in his preferred central position.Millwall just seemed to want it more than City even though this was a dead rubber game. All four Millwall goals summed up City's defensive frailties this season: poor communication, weak on crosses, caught on the break from attacking positions, individual errors [Kalas].If, say, Michael Appleton or any other of the names touted, had been appointed back in February and had the run of results that Nige has had there would be calls for their head already but he has the confidence of most of the fans and, importantly, the Lansdown family.Ian, Mark, Lezz and Headhunter discuss the game, Pearson's appointment and further speculation on what next in off the field action but in all honesty the summer break cannot come soon enough. Ep 71Why haven't we been invited?

City were full value for their 2-0 interval lead against mid-table Luton thanks to goals from Nahki Wells & Adam Nagy. The second half capitulation which saw 3 goals conceded in a 15 minute spell showed the team for what it has become: no leadership on the pitch and a soft touch for any side that just ups their own game one notch. The bright spark was the performance of Tommy Conway and his greater commitment compared with some around him was shown late in the game when the ball went out for a corner and he was waving to the kicker to hurry up and get on with it.Other than the game, Ian, Mark & myself discuss the off-pitch omni-shambles which must have a resolution in part, if not whole, before the end of the season on May 8th.Ian came up with the most amusing quote saying that the training ground's acronym should be changed such that HPC stands for Hamstring Probability Centre!! Finally, why the title for this episode? Our spies at the ground tell me that the guys from 3 Peaps were in attendance, add this to Shantely of OTIB being on Robins TV some months ago I am wondering why, as members of one of the Top 4 BCFC podcasts, none of us have been invited on? Then again, perhaps it is a blessing we have not witnessed first hand any of the dross that has been served up at Ashton Gate this season Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ep 70Massive

One word describes the task Steve Lansdown is facing in the coming weeks: MASSIVE !!City's one moment of class in this game was Bakinson's 2nd goal in a week which provided an interval lead. In the second half City put in a performance of the kind we have become increasingly used to. An equaliser conceded through lack of physicality in the 6 yard area and then, as they stumbled to what would have been a point against the bottom of the table side, a needless [?] handball from Palmer in the box from a shot by goalkeeper Stockdale and up steps the Barrel that is Akinfenwa to strike home a penalty for his first goal in 38 games!!!It's 9 from 33 points since Nigel Pearson has been in charge - hardly inspiring is it. Take away the opening 4 straight wins and its 39 points from 39 games. I'm still backing him with injuries being his get out of jail card but he's not stamped any identity on the rabble that is taking the field and for me, I don't want to see Fam pull on a City shirt again. The task for SL is massive for these reasons: we need clarity on the manager position, a new CEO is required, there needs to be an independent review of the medical set up, the recruitment team needs a proper player acquisition professional, and then the task of building a competitive squad for next season has to be commenced. These things must be sorted by the middle of June or we can write off season 21/22.I'm not renewing yet. I will but not until I see some direction off the field. Hosted on Acast. Ep 69Draws are like buses!!!

No drawn games for half a season and then two come along in succession!Ian, Lezz, Mark & David discuss the 1-1 draw at Hillsborough where City trailed from another set piece goal after 3 minutes and at one stage it looked like it was going to be the Barry Bannon show! The Owls midfielder, coveted by City for a number of years, saw his questionably awarded penalty kick saved by Dan Bentley, and like his teammates he faded as the game wore on. Despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the game after Angela's sending off City's battling 2nd half performance was worthy of a point which was secured by Bakinson's classy strike. Our talk turned to the usual speculation on what next regarding confirming Pearson and new investment, who should be retained from the OOC players. Ep 68Baby Steps....

OK, we're starting from a low bar but there was enough in yesterday's 0-0 draw against Forest to suggest that City have arrested a decline in form at Ashton Gate that was becoming embarrassing. It wasn't pretty to watch and the visiting keeper wasn't troubled but in the second half, inspired from midfield by the ever improving Massengo, City put in a performance that pleased most fans and Nigel Pearson.Ian, Mark , & DaveFevs joined me to discuss the match action and also just WTFIGO with regard to confirming Pearson's appointment, a possible departure of Mark Ashton, the Chairman's continuing silence and the owner's pursuit of new investment Hosted on Acast. Ep 67City's players fail badly in the Line of Duty - shame on you!

Once again City fell to defeat where the performance rather than the result which was bad enough poses severe question marks against their commitment and buy in to interim Manager Nigel Pearson's methods. We tear into the players performance which culminated in a back pass by Tommy Rowe which was so bad and led to the killer 3rd goal that it took me back to something similar Ray Atteveld produced in his debut vs. Oxford in March 1992!!!!Moving on from the action we debate whether Nige is the man and with just about broad agreement that he is we then question why the delay in getting him on a contract so the rebuild can begin in earnest. We also discuss owner Steve Lansdown's statement that he is on the look out for new investors. Does he mean just in Bristol City or the wider Bristol Sport brand Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ep 65In Conversation with .... Danny Wilson, manager 2000-04

At age 37 and in only his third season as a manager, Danny Wilson led unfashionable Barnsley to promotion to the Premier League.Barnsley may have only lasted one season in the top flight but Danny went on to manage his former club Sheffield Wednesday, in the Premier League themselves and a club he had served well as a player. When City went looking for a manager in the summer of 2000 after the debacle of Lennartsson, Pulis, & Fawthrop, the friendly Northern Irishman Wilson seemed an inspired choice to lead City back to the Championship.Danny had 4 seasons at Ashton Gate with a win rate of 46% and year on year improvement but after losing to Brighton in the 2004 final he was dumped, there's no other word for it, by then rookie Chairman Steve Lansdown. Many will surely agree that under him City played a fine attacking style, indeed in 2003 when they won the LDV Trophy they massed over 100 goals in all competitions. Perhaps if he had been given the level of financial support in the transfer market enjoyed by Lee Johnson things might have turned out differently? In this hour long interview Danny talks about not only his time at City but his wider football career and how he feels in selecting his former Sheffield Wednesday teammate, Nigel Pearson, City have got the best man possible to secure their Premier League ambition Hosted on Acast. Ep 66Ashton Gate - the Robins Low Performance Centre!!

This week saw the launch of the much heralded new training centre at Failand, curiously named the Robins High Performance Centre. With 2 weeks to prepare for this game, albeit without players on international duty or the masses still injured, you would think that the team would put in a performance that might show some identity in terms of what we can expect long term from a Nigel Pearson coached side. The performance was abject as City stumbled to an unwanted record of 7 home defeats in a row.We go through the 90 minutes action and suggest that only Kalas, Bentley & Massengo from that starting line up are players we would welcome in a starting line up in August. That's quite bizarre when two of them form the core of one of the worst defenses in the Championship and the other a midfielder with no goals or assists in his almost 2 seasons at the club. With murmurings on OTIB that Nige has perhaps lost his sparkle we banish such thoughts and say he should be offered the job within days so he can set about the task. Must be concerning that he himself said post match it will be "too late" to leave it to the summer - he seems to want it ..... do SL & MA want him? Hosted on Acast. Ep 64If the club had a zero tolerance policy regarding crimes on the person .....

then Danny Simpson would not be playing for Bristol City - that's it, end of.But they don't and so for more than a week the thread has been running on OTIB that it is abhorrent that the club should even contemplate signing someone who was convicted of domestic violence against his then girlfriend and mother of his daughter. For some, the fact that the victim seems to have workable relationship with the offender is not enough - the club, in their eyes, are showing a lack of moral compass in letting Simpson through the door. I guess for these people rehabilitation and remorse by the offender will not feature in their thinking.Ian and Headhunter discuss this hot topic, why his signing was even necessary at this "dead rubber" stage of the season and then speculate on a possible long term future for Simpson at Ashton Gate. Ep 63There is a mountain to climb .....

In 20 weeks time season 21/22 gets underway. There is so much to be sorted on and off the pitch at Ashton Gate it does not bear thinking about.Rotherham bullied City to their 9th home defeat of the season with two set piece goals. Across the whole team City were found wanting for large parts of the match and the loss through injury of Kalas and, late on, O'Dowda showed that hoodoo is still hovering over the place!Ian & Dave P discuss the match action but call upon the signing up of Pearson full time as a must do action before the run in to the end of the season begins on Good Friday. We question why over Danny Simpson's intended signing and agree that the impact of Bristol's proposed Clean Air Zone is perhaps not as bad as first thought. Hosted on Acast. Ep 62True Grit

City did well to earn a point at Ewood Park with a gritty performance against Tony Mowbray's Blackburn. It was a first drawn game in 24 and they had to start it without Dan Bentley who cried off sick in the afternoon. In Max O'Leary it shows they have a ready made replacement should Bentley move on in the summer.Another plus point was the continuing improved form of HNM who gave another high energy performance.A lacklustre display from Fam suggests that next game should see changes up front with a view to having next season in mindCity were under the cosh for the first half but had chances to win in the 2nd although Blackburn too went close.Well done Ian who hosted tonight's pod for the first time after tech difficulties prevented Birthday Boy Headhunter for joining him, DaveFevs & Mark Hosted on Acast. Ep 61A Daddy Cool performance from KP45

Scored one, made one, should have scored again - what a week for Kasey Palmer; became a dad for the 2nd time and showing the sort of form that justified the £4M fee paid to Chelsea. If there is one player particularly rejuvenated by the arrival of Nigel Pearson, Kasey is that man.Although Birmingham hit the post twice early on, City ran out easy winners 3-0 with an all round team performance that augers well for the future.Ian, Mark, DaveFevs and Headhunter discuss the match action and a whole host of other topics:why no draws in half a season, why is Ashton Gate a bogey ground, success in the WSL, EFL not maxing out its potential revenue from TV plus the question on everyone's mind - WHEN IS NIGE GOING TO SIGN A 3 YEAR CONTRACT Also, Ian does a damn good impression of Sean Dyche!!! Ep 60Pearson now fully aware of the task that faces him if he accepts [is offered ?] the challenge

In this latest episode we review a limp wristed performance against the west Londoners as City went down 0-2 and the "new manager bounce" had clearly come to an end.Pearson's post match comments were telling. I detect he's now aware after no more than a week on the training ground that whilst they may be a skilful bunch of individuals this squad lack heart and are simply to nice. Never mind the out of contract players, how many of those who are contracted to still be here in August would Pearson keep. The goals conceded were poor, we suffered two more injuries and, allied to the tactical substitution of Bakinson the whole midfield had gone after 35 minutes. We also discuss the, as it appears, the largely unimpressive list of OOC players at other clubs. They are OOC for a reason and whilst on FBC we have said there should be rich pickings to be had that position appears to be a myth.We conclude that next season could already be described as one of consolidation Hosted on Acast. Ep 57This is it, this time I know [hope] its the real thing

The feelgood factor in the wake of Nigel Pearson's appointment is like no other I have seen for a new City manager in more than 50 years.OK, it's only two games, both on the road at tough venues and by the same 3-1 scoreline but the group huddle at the end of a game in which City had to thank Dan Bentley for still being in it at half time and then trailing to a harsh penalty summed up for me a togetherness that has banished the misery, on top of lockdown, of a miserable 3 months of supporting this club. The resilience shown in the 2nd half was a million miles away from the recent Barnsley and Watford performances as City won at a canter due to some astute tactical changes and three more quality goals. This upturn in fortunes is probably too late to make an assault to the playoffs but if it continues Steve Lansdown MUST get Pearson's name on a 3 year contract ASAP.We may be embarking on a pathway that could take us to where we want to be Hosted on Acast. Ep 56We now have our Pat Lam equivalent ....

City raced to a 3-goal lead in 35 minutes at the Riverside last night and watching new manager Nigel Pearson, and all of us for that matter, must have wondered why we hadn't seen that sort of showing for months. The recent villain in the eyes of many, Nahki Wells, scored one and made one and Fam's brace took his goal tally to 10 for the season and a milestone 50 overall. The second half was a different story and although victory was never in doubt Pearson saw extended periods of play which perhaps showed why City's play off challenge has evaporated. We talk of Pearson's appointment which we agree has Lansdown Sr's name all over it and muse on how Mark Ashton will spin why him, or someone like him, wasn't appointed in the summer.A great appointment and now we await to see what plans Nigel has in store! Ep 55Vigorous, rigorous process, nah ..... JFDI now!!!

City put in another horror show of a performance against a hard-working Barnsley side who emerged worthy winners albeit by a single goal. One would have hoped the temporary coaches could have got a tune out of the players but they showed with their set up of the team and the fact that City had only one shot on target in the whole game that they are part of the problem and should go now!!Ian, Mark, Lezz & Headhunter say there isn't time for a drawn out recruitment process and the right person needs to be hired within 7 days by which time, looking at the upcoming fixtures, a further three defeats could be on the board to make it a perfect 10 in successive league games!! Ep 54Holden Gone, not a hero!

Little did we know as we started our live podcast that barely an hour after the final whistle we would be reporting on the ending of Dean Holden's tenure as Head Coach after just 41 games. He had a credible win rate of 44% but a sixth straight defeat in another dreadful showing against Reading who cruised to a 2-0 win brought about his demise.Mark, DaveFevs, Ian, Lezz & DaveP analyse the match action and went on to discuss the contents of Steve Lansdown's Radio Bristol interview before the rumours became fact that Holden had gone. Talk then switched to who will be next in the hot seat and has Lansdown got a masterplan that could surprise us all!Holden was no hero in the eyes of the City fans. He is a decent bloke but one who should never have got the job in the first place and the Man who fired the Holden Gun, Mark Ashton, looks as though he will live to fight another day. Ep 52Holden's Tinnion Moment

This was on a par with that day in September 2005 when City were thrashed 7-1 at the Liberty Stadium by Swansea. Brian Tinnion cut a dejected picture slumped in the dug out some while after the final whistle. He knew his short time as manager had run its course and he was gone within days.Losing 6-0, City's performance can only be described as a disgrace and that goes from the way the side was set up by the coaches to the application showed by experienced professionals who, with a few exceptions, showed no pride in their performance.Ian, Mark, Lezz, Daniel and host David P discuss the action and suggest what the outcomes should be. Will Ashton pull the trigger on Holden to save his own skin or will the Lansdown take the brave decision to axe both of them plus the coaching staff and start building for next season now - sadly I think not.We talk about the mooted idea of Richard Scudamore being a candidate for CEO should Ashton be gone and question whether Tuesday's game against Reading could be make or break for Holden and how on earth the Berkshire side can afford to be paying [allegedly] Lucas Joao £38k per week!!! The cup doth not runneth over for City as they lost out in a place in the 1/4 finals through a VAR awarded penalty at Bramall Lane.Ian, DaveFevs, Mark, Lezz & DaveP dissect the action which, save for a sound display from debutant Ryley Towler, showed City turn in another lacklustre performance as an attacking force. For us, Fam has switched off now the window has closed and Nahki Wells really does look like he's sucking on a lemon with intensity! What of Williams -how long will he be out?How should City tackle the rest of the season? We discuss this and more in our 50th episode Hosted on Acast. Ep 5011 Empty Shirts

Ian, Liam, Mark & Headhunter analyse a disjointed and losing display from City in the Severnside derby. The starting line up looked sound [on paper] save for Mariappa out of position and perhaps the need for an extra pair of legs in the middle but poor defending led to both goals and up front one solitary shot was all City had to show for their attacking efforts. We debate at length Holden looking more and more out of his depth and what Mark Ashton is going to do to change things - probably nothing. If City were a company their shares would be tanking now and in those circumstances the CEO is often the first to go!! Ep 49Green with Envy .... a review of Brentford away

We lost, which wasn't unexpected, and the scoreline suggests it was close but most City fans will look at Brentford and ask the question: why not us?Zac Vyner's goal gave City the perfect start and like vs. Huddersfield the high energy in the opening 20 minutes was not sustained. Brentford, themselves without four regulars, took control and their finishing was lethalVyner, Massengo & Edwards all showed that perhaps the future is to focus on youth and we pose the question, is Mark Ashton under more pressure than Dean Holden in terms of worrying about a job after 1st July Hosted on Acast. Ep 47Vital win and that's all that matters

Huddersfield can claim with some justification that they were robbed at Ashton Gate last night as two goals from Fam in a stunning opening half hour proved just enough.City's deep lying shape brought wave upon wave of attack from the Yorkshire men and only the woodwork, weak finishing and a Bentley super save were the difference between a narrow win and certain defeat.DaveFevs, Ian, Mark and Headhunter review the action and pick over the content of the recent Ashton / 20Man interview Hosted on Acast. The panel were in an uncharacteristically jovial mood as they discussed a convincing win at the New Den against a poor Millwall. This was another decent performance in which City's young starlets shined with Semenyo and Vyner in particular suggesting they have the potential to earn City an 8-figure transfer fee in the future. We look at the content of the @GeeMacGee interview with Mark Ashton, proclaim 4 points is the requirement from the next 2 games against Huddersfield and resurgent WRDC, and we look at the Sunderland fans forum to see how they are taking to life under LJ Hosted on Acast. In this episode Bobby talks about his playing and managerial career, some general football topics and starts with his discussing City's performance in Wednesday's game at Norwich CityIn an illustrious career as a player and manager Bobby Gould's association with Bristol City is but a small part.Signed from West Brom in December 1972 for £69k [a lot of money in those days] after John Galley's transfer to Nottingham Forest it was a short tempestuous period which ended in November the following year when he was sold to West Ham for £80k. Bobby scored 15 goals in 35 appearances. He memorably fell out on the pitch with Gerry Gow [think Dyer/Bowyer 2005 and our own Orr/Carey 2006], scored and played in goal in a match against WBA following Ray Cashley's arm break, and fell out with Alan Dicks on a matter of principle which probably led to his early departure. He managed over 600 games at club level [including 2 spells with the Gas] with the high point being steering Wimbledon to their famous 1988 FA Cup win over Liverpool. Bobby was also manager of the Welsh national side which was his last major job in footballBobby lives in Portishead where his home has been for all bar a few years since he move to City 48 years ago Hosted on Acast. We came away with nothing from Carrow Road which wasn't entirely unexpected against the league leaders but once again it was the manner of the performance that let us down.Ian, Mark & Headhunter discuss the action from a match where, again, it was only Dan Bentley that stood between this and a much heavier defeat.Ian also gave his view on the Club's latest financial report. With the financial future looking uncertain we fear there may be trouble ahead! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ep 42But we won didn't we?!!!

In this latest episode we discuss the win against Pompey which was down to two classy strikes from Fam & Chris Martin.Dan Bentley showed why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the country and Alfie Mawson looked assured in the 65 minutes he was on but those bright points apart it was another disjointed affair. We talk the usual stuff on contracts [is there some masterplan afoot?], injuries etc whilst Ian and I reminisce on former midfielder Bobby Kellard who passed away today after a long illness Hosted on Acast. Ep 38A 90 minute performance - Rotherham [A] reviewed

City have often been accused this season of sustaining a level of performance over 90 minutes. They managed it at Rotherham yesterday, only problem was it was 90 minutes of possibly the worst football they have managed to produce in nearly 4 1/2 seasons of Championship football.Ian, DaveFevs, Mark & Headhunter are not happy as they discuss what went wrong in a game where you couldn't draw one single positive from.We also give our points prediction for the halfway stage of the season which is 5 games from here. Ep 36The Ghost of Johnson Past !!!

Ian, Mark, DaveFevs & Headhunter review Brum at home, a side who must enjoy playing at Ashton Gate as this was their 8th win in their last 10 visits.DH is not producing much difference to his predecessor - over cautious tactics, very little service to the strikers. We also discuss LJ at Sunderland and end with Ian & DaveFevs having a very highbrow discussion about football finances!!! Ep 35In Conversation with .... Geoff Twentyman

Geoff, the sporting voice of Radio Bristol for over 25 years, took time out to chat with me about a range of topics including:Growing up in a football family [his dad was Chief Scout for Liverpool], his professional career including that rare period in the 80's when the Gas had the better of things, his transition into broadcasting and how, first & foremost, his loyalty to his audience prevails over not asking the difficult questions which we've witnessed in recent exchanges with SL & MA.A really good session in which Geoff also reveals he got an O Level in Russian and that phrase Mind the Gap cropped up in conversation!!! Ep 34Dizzy ! QPR [A] reviewed .....

A stirring 2nd half performance gave City all 3 points from their trip to West London and consolidates their position in the top 6 with a 1/3rd of the season completedIan, Mark, DaveFevs and Headhunter discuss a dreadful first half but then savour the performances of Nagy, O'Dowda and Rowe. We also discuss Training Ground Guru Lee Johnson and whether, whatever the outcome, 20-21 season with all its disruption gives Dean Holden a free hit in terms of achieving objectives set by MA. Why the title? Osayi-Samuel certainly made Jay De Silva Dizzy with a dazzling first half display but Tommy Rowe came to the rescue to nullify the threat in the 2nd half!!!! Hosted on Acast. We briefly preview QPR away, have a good old moan, discuss job for Cotts and with this week's announcement of the closure of Bristol Zoo we share some childhood memories with Mark reminding us that Johnny Morris's Animal Magic show, teatime viewing on BBC1 in the 60s, was filmed there Hosted on Acast. Ep 32The Hand of Bentley !

We said before the game that a point against a side just relegated from the Premiership would not be a disappointment and with the late withdrawal of Kalas it was a major achievement.A flurry of corners in the closing stages might have brought all 3 points but City will look at Bentley's one handed instinctive save to tip the ball over the bar from Quina's powerful drive mid way through the 2nd half as the pivotal moment of the game.Ian, DaveFevs, Mark and Headhunter discuss the action, look forward to Reading away, ask whether Maradona was a champ or a cheat and give their view on the genital grabbing incident in the PNE vs Sheff Wed game last weekend Hosted on Acast.
