Ep 243News & Such: Fan Friday on Day 1 of a new Premier League season

It's the first day of a brand new English Premier League season, so James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and Brendan Dunlop wanted to hear from you the fans, to get your perspective, before all the hope and good feelings melt away. Brett Bates, chairman of the Toronto Lions, Aston Villa supporters club, explains why AVFC are a big club and backs Steven Gerrard to get it right. West Ham fan Dan Baldwin from the Toronto Hammers thinks seventh place is within reach this season thanks to keeping hold of Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen. Wolverhampton Wanderers fan Brett Townley from Worldwide Wolves of Toronto worries that his side have run out of money, and ideas. And Jordan Thelan, founder of the Toronto Trickies, Nottingham Forest supporters club, is very bullish about Forest's return to the top flight and has some great banter with Jimmy and the boys. And of course with news that Chelsea look likely to sign one of either Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Cristiano Ronaldo, the boys debate on who the right choice would be and question how Thomas Tuchel must feel. Richie Laryea's loan move back to Toronto FC until summer 2023 is confirmed, and Dunlop admits he's finally watched one of the greatest films of all time - Scarface. Ep 2422022/23 English Premier League season preview

James Sharman, Brendan Dunlop and former Premier Leaguers Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan preview a brand new English Premier League season. Even though it feels like last season just ended a couple of weeks ago, Sharms quizzes the crew on some of last season's highlights to reveal their poor short term memories. They also debate; which player will be the first to be embroiled in scandal, who they back but will certainly let them down and harm their credibility, which manager is on pace to be the next Sam Allardyce, which of Erling Haaland or Darwin Núñez will have a better debut Premier League season, and share their fan bias on Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham and Nottingham Forest. Despite all the exciting talking points, the boys also relive Leicester City's miracle 2015/16 Premier League title winning season, and debate which clubs will be circling around John Herdman if Canada have a successful World Cup in Qatar this winter. Ep 241INTVU: Trevor Sinclair, ex-West Ham, Man City & QPR player and Premier League pundit

Friend of the show Trevor Sinclair returns to the show as this week’s INTVU guest to chat about the upcoming Premier League season with James Sharman, Jimmy Brennan and Trevor’s former West Ham United teammate Craig Forrest. The former QPR, Manchester City and West Ham winger now works as a radio and TV pundit. Sinclair talks about working with Alan Brazil on TalkSPORT and covering his former clubs, and what it was like to party with Craig and DJ Mellow D, Danny Dichio, back in the 90s. Harry Redknapp’s prioritization of a strong change room chemistry over tactics gets a few laughs, as does Sinclair’s wish that Craig could ping balls down the pitch with the ease of Man City goalkeeper Ederson. As much as Craig and Trevor want West Ham to challenge for a Top 4 place this season, Trevor admits it is again a two horse title race between Man City and Liverpool, and that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham mount the next best challenge thanks to their summer business, adding Richardson to an attack that already includes “the two best forwards in the Premier League” in Harry Kane and Heung-min Son. Jimmy tries to bring up Nottingham Forest’s acquisition of Jesse Lingard several times. Manchester United would be better off letting Cristiano Ronaldo leave this summer. And the Lionesses’ triumph at the 2022 Women’s Euros has Sinclair excited for the future of the women’s game in England, though Sinclair explains that infrastructure and new pitches and facilities are as crucial to correcting the problem as changing the school curriculum. Ep 240This Just In! England are the champions of Europe & Liverpool win Community Shield

It came home! England win the 2022 Women's Euros with an emphatic 2-1 extra time victory over Germany at Wembley. Brendan Dunlop, James Sharman and Craig Forrest react to England's first major trophy since Bobby Moore and company won the 1966 FIFA men's World Cup. Sharms hopes the success of the Women's Euros, which wrapped up in front of a European Championship record crowd of 87,192 fans, leaves a legacy for the women's game and truly cements its place in England. Chloe Kelly got her Brandi Chastain moment, and the Lionesses have written their names in the history books, on the same weekend that Liverpool won their first trophy of the 2022/23 season, beating Manchester City at Leicester's King Power Stadium to win the Community Shield. Dunny drools over Darwin Núñez, while the crew give their take on Erling Haaland's first "real" appearance for his new club. Turf got the better of Toronto FC again, as the Reds come up short in New England with Lorenzo Insigne missing a second half penalty that saw TFC leave with a 0-0 draw. Rumours that TFC may yet add Andrea Belotti to their Italian rebuild this month has the crew excited for what's still to come with 11 regular season matches to play in this MLS season. And JC wants to bring marionettes back to the mainstream. Presenters: Brendan Dunlop, James Sharman and Craig Forrest. Ep 239News & Such: Danny Dichio returns! Fresh off Sacramento Republic's US Open Cup semi-final triumph

Call it a miracle. Call it destiny. Call it 'The Danny Dichio Effect'. One of Footy Prime's original and founding voices, Danny Dichio, makes his first appearance on Footy Prime The Podcast since trading the touchlines of Toronto FC's academy for an assistant coaching role at USL side Sacramento Republic FC. With The Quails upsetting Sporting KC in their Lamar Hunt US Open Cup semi-final Wednesday night, becoming the first non-MLS club since 2008 to reach the Final, James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Brendan Dunlop and Jimmy Brennan caught up with their old teammate. Diche talks about the memorable Cup run that has seen Sacramento knock off three MLS clubs, the San Jose Earthquakes, LA Galaxy and SKC, to reach the Final, adjusting to life in the USL and living in Northern California, and of course his thoughts on the upcoming English Premier League season. Spoiler alert: despite getting it completely wrong about Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea at the start of last season, Diche is bullish on the Blues again. The crew talk about weight clauses and other stipulations in contracts on the back of the news that the Arizona Cardinals had included an independent study clause in QB Kailer Murray's monster $230 million, 5-year contract. Federico Bernardeschi's night at the ballpark watching the Toronto Blue Jays beat up on Dunny's Detroit Tigers comes up & so much more. Ep 238Vancouver Whitecaps beat TFC in penalty shootout to win 2022 Canadian Championship

James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and Brendan Dunlop react to the Vancouver Whitecaps' stunning penalty shootout win over Toronto FC, to lift their second Canadian Championship in club history. Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi did not deliver a Voyageurs Cup victory in just their second game as TFC players, and Craig and Jimmy delve deeper into what that adjustment period must be like for both them and their teammates. England's domination of Sweden in the 2022 Women's Euros semi-final, and Germany's win over France to set up an England v Germany Final at Wembley leads to a larger discussion about the rise in quality of the women's game. The turf pitch at BC Place may have been an issue for TFC's new European stars, and Jimmy admits that training and playing on turf at BMO Field probably shaved a few years off his playing career. Craig reveals how close he was to coming out of retirement to play for TFC in 2007. Sharms can't believe the fines that used to exist at Aston Villa before the arrival of Steven Gerrard. Dunny comes up with another clever athletic challenge idea that the crew is unlikely to ever execute. And with producer Dan Wong away on vacation, JC Jeff Cole steps in to read "the mail sack" which of course wouldn't be complete without a spot on impersonation of Wonger. Ep 237INTVU: Carl Robinson, ex-Whitecaps FC head coach & TFC Canadian Championship winner

With the 2022 Canadian Championship Final pitting Toronto FC against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BC Place, James Sharman and Brendan Dunlop take Jimmy Brennan down memory lane chatting it up with his 2009 Voyageurs Cup winning teammate Carl Robinson. They relive the Miracle in Montreal, the 2009 Can Champ Final where TFC overcame a 4 goal deficit to stun the Montreal Impact 6-1 and lift the first trophy in TFC history. Tales of playing with Danny Dichio, Dwayne De Rosario and Amado Guevara are told. Robinson talks about his transition in to coaching, his five years as Vancouver Whitecaps manager and working with a 15 year-old Alphonso Davies, being locked down in Australia and away from his family for 18 months during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the similarities between the positions Australian and Canadian players find themselves in. As a proud Welshman, Robbo's excitement over Wales qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1958 is clear, as his admiration for countryman Gareth Bale who looks reinvigorated in his new role at LAFC. Ep 236This Just In! Bernardeschi & Insigne dazzle in TFC debut & European clubs travel America

What a time to be a Major League Soccer fan! Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan had a lot to recap as James Sharman returned from vacation at just the right moment to witness Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi's Toronto FC debut - although Sharman's jealousy over Jimmy & Dunny's Beer Fest stories is clearer than a calorie conscious light beer. The crew marvelled over the immediate impact the Italian duo made on a TFC team that sits 5 points out of a playoff spot with 12 MLS games to play this season. If Saturday's 4-0 win over Charlotte FC was just the appetizer, it's going to be one special meal! Gareth Bale's first goal for LAFC and Xherdan Shaqiri's dagger against the Vancouver Whitecaps put the bow on a wild MLS Saturday night. Forrest and Jimmy relive the most haunting moments from their playing careers, much to the amusement of producer Dan Wong. Sharms is not a fan of pre-season tours trying to replicate meaningful games and gets into a hilariously heated exchange with Dunny about El Clásico in Las Vegas. Erling Haaland's Manchester City debut at Lambeau Field in Green Bay is discussed, as is Arsenal's hot start to the pre-season and Thomas Tuchel's frustration with Chelsea's summer transfer window. The crew also make another athletic challenge, putting Jimmy and Craig on the spot to pick the best squad amongst the six of them to win a 3v3 mini game, at a yet to be determined soccer field not near you. Ep 235News & Such: Barcelona mortgage future & TFC fans await Italian duo debut

Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan get you ready for the weekend, reacting to the latest transfer news and random stories that can only be found on Footy Prime. Nottingham Forest's signing of Jesse Lingard has Jimmy over the moon, while Craig couldn't wait to move on to the next topic after Lingard passed on a return to West Ham. Lorenzo Insigne hasn't played a game for Toronto FC, but he will participate in the MLS All-Star Skills competition, which caught the crew by surprise. The crew speculate whether the TFC faithful will be treated to a Italian duo debut on Saturday versus Charlotte FC, with Insigne and Bernardeschi's status both unconfirmed at the time of recording. Everton's loss to Minnesota United gets a few laughs, while producer Dan Wong reveals his distaste for former Toffee Richarlison. Jack Grealish can't handle the theatrics of playing in CONCACAF, Alexandre Lacazette's return to Lyon has been ruined by multiple wasp stings, JC and Roma impersonate rural Ontario hockey players, and a Roma fan used a meet & greet with José Mourinho to propose to his "Special One." Without a guest, Friday's episode sounded a lot more like a Wednesday show which means there's a high volume of Jimmy laughs, Dunny gets excited by Portuguese names, and producer Dan Wong gets deeply inquisitive with his football questions. Ep 234Bernardeschi’s suit, Lewandowski’s Barça move, Inter Miami’s kids & locker room stories

Continuing the theme of Tuesday’s show, Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and producer Dan Wong go around the table asking each other questions to get to know each other better, which leads Wonger inventing verbs based on everyone’s name, their fashion reviews of Federico Bernardeschi’s first Toronto FC press conference suit, and stories about their own fashion choices. Robert Lewandowski’s arrival at Barcelona will take some time to get used to, though it did not take Barça long at all to beat up on the sons of Phil Neville & David Beckham and Inter Miami. Erik ten Hag’s new discipline and fine structure at Manchester United sends Jimmy and Craig down Story Time Road revealing some of the fines, and pranks, routinely pulled in their club change rooms. Jimmy is praying Ronaldo doesn’t move to Atletico Madrid, because he doesn’t want to listen to Dunny rant about it. another stellar opening from JC the voice vendor has you wishing you had planned the trip to the Calgary stampede Presenters: James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan, Brendan Dunlop and Dan Wong Voice Over Talent: Jeff Cole This podcast has content that may use words and share tales that offend, please feel free to use your best discretion. Ep 233INTVU: Victor Montagliani, CONCACAF President & FIFA VP

Fresh off watching the United States women’s national team beat Canada 1-0 in the CONCACAF W Final in Monterey, CONCACAF President and FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani rejoins the program to talk with former Canadian internationals Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan, and hosts James Sharman and Brendan Dunlop. The rise of competitive balance in the women’s game both within CONCACAF and internationally is discussed at length. Victor offered some insight as to why financial investment is not the only key to development, the role of a Confederation President when a federation, such as Canadian Soccer, is in the middle of a domestic squabble with national team players, and how U20 and U17 levels need to be prioritized in order to ensure sustainable success for both the CanWNT and CanMNT. The crew also have a crack at interviewing each other. Producer Dan Wong bats lead off with “who was your very first sporting hero?” Some very clever answers that should surprise you. Ep 232This Just In! Bernardeschi arrives at TFC, CanMNT players unionize & Lewandowski trades Bayern for Barça

Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest, James Sharman and producer Dan Wong react to Toronto FC‘s latest big money Designated Player signing, Italian international and EURO 2020 champion, Federico Bernardeschi. Craig raves about Alex Bono’s big saves as the crew debate whether TFC have left it too late to make an MLS Cup playoff run, after Saturday’s 1-0 loss away to CF Montreal in the “401 Derby” Canadian Classique. Wonger tries to make sense of the money TFC are spending, and the crew react to Barcelona‘s continued spending with the acquisition of Robert Lewandowski, leaving a hole in Bayern Munich hearts. CanWNT’s CONCACAF W Final versus the USWNT is previewed, and we get an answer as to why it’s being played Monday night in Monterrey. The crew are hopeful that the Canadian men’s national team players’ decision to unionize, along with the legal advice from Toronto and Washington DC-based counsel, can provide a resolution with the Canadian Soccer Association. Talk of Lorenzo Insigne’s return from injury sends the boys down a road of old war stories, which includes Sharms revealing he’s more fragile than a porcelain doll, and Dunny re-living failed sporting moments at charity games with retired soccer players and NHLers. Ep 231News & Such: CanWNT book CONCACAF W Final date v USWNT & leadership in sports

James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and Brendan Dunlop hit Friday's news with Wayne Rooney returning to Major League Soccer as the head coach of DC United, Cristiano Ronaldo rejecting a reported $300 million offer from a Saudi Arabian club, and the Canadian women's national team punching their ticket to the CONCACAF W Final versus the United States. Dan Wong is puzzled as to why no one thought CanWNT v USWNT would be a better draw on a Sunday night instead of Monday. But the bulk of Friday's episode was an insightful and eye opening conversation with Eva Havaris, the VP of Partnerships and Participation at Tennis Canada. The former Canadian Premier League executive peeled the curtain back on the conversations that are had in national sport body boardrooms, what mistakes she's seen over the years and has learned to avoid, and what Tennis Canada has done to build strong relationships and trust with their best, and most marketable, athletes. Y/ou'll learn a lot more from this episode than you usually do when listening to Footy Prime. Ep 230Fight between Canada Soccer and men's & women's national team players is far from over

With the Canadian women's national team winning the Olympic gold medal and the men's national team qualifying for this winter's FIFA World Cup, for the first time in 35 years, the Canadian Soccer Association has more eyeballs on it than ever before. And as Puff Daddy famously told us in the late 1990's: More money. More problems. James Sharman and Brendan Dunlop discuss with former Canadian men's national team stars Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan all the latest developments in the battle over World Cup prize money, after Rick Westhead's article about the lack of transparency and responsible governance prompted statements from the CSA and the women's and men's national teams. Jimmy and Craig are at odds over what can be done differently in a country where soccer has such a small market share in a very crowded sports landscape, and producer Dan Wong explains why the marketing issues that led to the partnership deal with Canadian Soccer Business, are not an overnight fix. Jimmy and Craig also tell some great pre-season travel stories, and the crew debate how much we can actually take from Manchester United's throttling of Liverpool in Bangkok. A heavy dose of real talk, with your expected dose of laughs. Ep 229INTVU: Max Bretos, LAFC play-by-play voice

Max Bretos was one of the first North American voices doing soccer play-by-play back when few matches were shown live, and even fewer were called in the stadium. Now the play-by-play voice of LAFC and host of The Soccer OG Podcast, Bretos IS "The Soccer OG" and joined James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Brendan Dunlop and producer Dan Wong as part of this week's interview series. Bretos talks about the growth of the sport in North America, from calling games he didn't know if anyone was watching, to working for one of the flagship franchises in Major League Soccer that is reshaping the sports landscape in Los Angeles with the additions of superstar Gareth Bale and European champion Giorgio Chiellini. They laugh about the old days working "a niche sport", and Bretos reveals his West Ham fandom, and that he was actually covering the 2000 Gold Cup Final at the LA Coliseum when Craig cemented his legacy as one of Canada's greatest ever players. Ep 228This Just In! CanWNT punch Women's World Cup ticket, Chelsea sign Sterling & MAK is back at TFC

Lana Del Rey’s hit song “Summertime Sadness” could've been the anthem for Toronto FC fans driving home from BMO Field Saturday night, and anyone that still doesn’t have reliable internet service. The expected debut of Lorenzo Insigne was delayed for two weeks, and TFC conceded in stoppage time to draw the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2. But as Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan discuss, brighter days are ahead for Jimmy's old club as TFC pulled off a trade to land midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for Ralph Priso, and loads of TAM/GAM cash. At the match as a fan, Jimmy is reminded of how aggressive he was as a player by San Jose’s Shea Salinas. The Canadian women's national team punched their ticket to the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup in Australia and New Zealand by reaching the semi-final stage at the CONCACAF W Championship. The crew take credit for Julia Grosso's emergence as a prolific CanWNT goalscorer, since appearing on Footy Prime. Chelsea’s £45 million signing of Raheem Sterling from Man City is seen as a win for all parties involved. Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini experience El Tráfico from the sidelines, and Jimmy & Craig explain why European players are so attracted to the North American lifestyle. Ep 227News & Such: a chat with CanMNT head coach John Herdman

Canadian men's national team head coach John Herdman joins James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and Brendan Dunlop for a 40 minute candid conversation about 2022 FIFA World Cup preparations, and life. In a normal World Cup calendar year, the semi-final stage would be taking place right now, but all 32 teams playing in Qatar 2022 are preparing for a winter tournament that creates some brand new logistical challenges that all teams will have to navigate. Herdman speaks about the pressure he puts on himself to ensure his team is best prepared to face opponents in an environment that will transform from a party to a pressure cooker the second CanMNT kick off against Belgium in Group F on November 23rd in Al Rayyan, how his Olympic and Women's World Cup experiences with the Canadian women's national team have prepared him for his first men's World Cup, and how his players are navigating this unique period in their careers. Jimmy and Craig give Herdman some travel advice as he travels around the country in a retooled caravan and his love of vintage VW Beetle's is discussed at length. Ep 226TFC reshaping MLS with massive mid-season rebuild

What a summer it's been for Toronto FC, and the European transfer window isn't even closed yet! James Sharman, Craig Forrest, Jimmy Brennan and Brendan Dunlop react to the reports that TFC have traded designated player and 2020 MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo to Inter Miami, to make room for the expected signing of Juventus attacker Federico Bernardeschi on a free transfer. And with defender Carlos Salcedo expected to return to Mexico, there could be another DP slot for Bob Bradley and company to fill. Lorenzo Insigne's much anticipated TFC debut has been pushed back with a lingering calf issue ruling the Italian international out of action this weekend. Sharms puts Jimmy and Craig on the spot to name the friends they actually enjoyed playing with the most. The crew ponder whether Jesse Lingard would be a better fit for an MLS club or a European club chasing Champions League football, and have some fun with producer Dan Wong for his line of questioning with this week's INTVU guest Trent McClellan. Ep 225INTVU: Trent McClellan, actor, stand-up comedian & Cavalry FC supporter

This week the crew laugh it up with one of the biggest soccer fans in the comedy game, Trent McClellan. The Calgary based stand-up comedian and main cast member of CBC's 'This Hour Has 22 Minutes' tells stories from the road, draws comedian preparation comparisons to soccer players and coaches, and talks about how his love of The Beautiful Game has reached new heights with the arrival of CPL powerhouse Cavalry FC. James Sharman, Jimmy Brennan, Brendan Dunlop and producer Dan Wong ask the proud Newfoundlander and Manchester United fan about the challenges of being funny in this day and age, speculate how hecklers get full size vegetables into comedy shows and why his home province of Newfoundland is an untapped soccer hotbed. Naturally, Dunny is disappointed that Trent thinks Man United would be better off without Cristiano Ronaldo and Wonger reveals a lot about his true self with his line of questioning. We like to think we lead the league in laughs as it is, thanks to Jimmy. This episode is sure to brighten your day. Ep 223Summer vacations, silly season transfer rumours and Qatar 2022 accomodations

With all your favourite soccer players posting pictures of their lavish and exotic summer holidays, Brendan Dunlop takes Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan down "story time" road, which brings out a more PG13 Dan Wong than you're used to hearing on Footy Prime. Domenico Criscito arrives at Toronto FC and it sounds like there will be new arrivals at TFC before the summer is over. The crew speculate on which big names may follow Lorenzo Insigne, Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini to Major League Soccer next. They all agree that Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will play in MLS, but not yet. Romelu Lukaku returns to Inter Milan on loan, and Bayern Munich are linked with a €65 million move for CanMNT forward Jonathan David. Could you imagine David and Alphonso Davies together in the Bundesliga? FIFA World Cup organizers celebrate having sold 1.8 million tickets for this winter's World Cup, with Canadians purchasing a large number of tickets. The crew speculate what their accommodations may look like in Qatar. Jimmy is convinced he's a better golfer than Wonger which has Craig propose a playoff tournament, as Dunny reminds the crew they still haven't attempted the penalty shootout challenge proposed with Dunny taking shots at Jimmy. Ep 222Lorenzo Insigne arrives. Who’s next for TFC?

Sharms sends Craig and Jimmy down Story Time Road about pre-transfer physicals, as Arsenal completes the signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City. And Jimmy is super jealous that Craig is taking Wonger out golfing, but didn’t invite his old CanMNT teammate. Ep 221This Just In! CanWNT draw Korea in Toronto, Insigne arrives & Bale signs with LAFC

From multi-million dollar unveilings, to gold medal friendlies, to Pride parades, there was a lot going on this weekend! Brendan Dunlop and James Sharman were in the stands for the Canadian women's national team's scoreless friendly against South Korea at BMO Field. Jimmy Brennan and Dan Wong had a lovely Saturday night together watching Toronto FC beat Atlanta United 2-1, which included an elevator encounter with TFC's prized signing Lorenzo Insigne. The crew react to Gareth Bale trading Real Madrid for LAFC, which led to a debate about how much brand value David Beckham still holds, and a critique of how poorly things have gone for Inter Miami. Ep 217This Just In! MLS Round Up, transfer rumours & Canada's U20 loss to Cuba

With the international window behind us, and the domestic seasons over in Europe, Major League Soccer has the spotlight and transfer rumours have the headlines. Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest, James Sharman and producer Dan Wong talk about Ronaldinho's celebrity game in Miami that featured current stars like Alphonso Davies, Paul Pogba, Paulo Dybala and Vinicius Jr., as well as basketball stars like Steve Nash and Jimmy Butler, amongst a ton of R10 and Roberto Carlos' famous friends. The MLS schedule is back in full swing and the Vancouver Whitecaps wasted no time in Dallas with CanMNT forward Lucas Cavallini scoring within the first two minutes to lead VWFC to a 2-0 win, while Toronto FC and CF Montreal came out on the losing end this weekend. A chat about this weekend's F1 Grand Prix in Montreal led to a Wonger analysis of how Canada Soccer can better market Canada's youth programs, after Saturday's shocking loss to Cuba at the CONCACAF U20 Championships left CanM20 with a lot more questions than answers. Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan talk with Vancouver based multimedia journalist Alexandre Gangué-Ruzic, of One Soccer, CanPL and Between The Sticks, about BC Place being named one of the 16 venues. The crew are excited by the prospect of exciting games in Toronto, react to Edmonton not being awarded any fixtures, and criticize FIFA for valuing Boston and Foxborough as a better option than some of the others. MLS's new 10 year, $2.5 billion broadcast deal with Apple TV has the boys question why it's so expensive for working class soccer fans to watch all the games they want to. Jimmy Brennan also threw out a new approach to the World Cup that had Craig Forrest speaking for Europe. James Sharman held the pod down but couldn't help himself with "The What Cereal Would Footy Prime Be?" question after JC's epic opening. Ep 213This Just In! The soccer season never ends

Nations League action in every corner of the world at a time when normally we'd be watching World Cup games has Brendan Dunlop, James Sharman, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan feeling like maybe there is too much soccer being played right now. The crew debate how sustainable this busy schedule is for the game's best players, and what coaches can really take away from these Nations League games at the end of the club season as CanMNT get set to play Honduras on Monday. England's scoreless draw with defending European champions Italy in an empty Molineux did little to excite the boys, as did Switzerland's first minute win over Cristiano Ronaldo-less Portugal. This sparked a conversation on which super power would be most valuable to have. Naturally the guys couldn't agree with each other, even when "flying" feels like the obvious answer. Darwin Núnez's expected arrival at Liverpool and PSG parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino, setting the path for French World Cup winner Zinedine Zidane to fly in to lead the Parisians to Champions League glory also get talked about. Ep 212News & Such: CanMNT crush Curaçao & Bayern Munich have their eye on Canadian talent

The Canadian men's national team returned to the pitch Thursday night in Vancouver, in front of fewer fans than many would've hoped. But those in attendance were treated to two goals from Alphonso Davies, who made his much anticipated return to John Herdman's starting XI, and a 4-0 victory over Curaçao. And those at home were treated to the voice of Jimmy Brennan as colour commentator, and the face of Craig Forrest on OneSoccer's pre & post-game show. They recap Canada's CONCACAF Nations League win with James Sharman, Brendan Dunlop and producer Dan Wong. Sharms was quick to call out Forrest for being overly cautious of Curaçao, ahead of what was a convincing victory. Jimmy laughs. Dunny finds ways to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo. And, Toronto Blizzard president Joe Parolini joins the crew to talk about the brand new grassroots partnership with Bayern Munich, that will provide young Canadian players between the ages of 8 and 18 the opportunity to learn and develop in the FC Bayern way, right here at home. Jimmy is over the moon that Riche Laryea's Nottingham Forest will play in the Premier League promotion playoff final at Wembley after beating Sheffield United on penalties. James Sharman, Brendan Dunlop, Craig Forrest and Jimmy Brennan debated who needs the trophy more, what it would mean for LFC if they were to finish this quadruple chasing season with only a Carabao Cup in the trophy cabinet, and whether Liverpool should actually be considered the favourite against Real Madrid in the Champions League Final. Tottenham's North London Derby triumph over Arsenal sparked a great 4th place chat, and as usual Sharms led Jimmy and Craig down memory lane recounting some Cup runs from their days at Chelsea, West Ham, Norwich City and Nottingham Forest.
