750. LA Diary

Los Angeles Actor Diary The week that was in Los Angeles:  OUR FIRST TIME VISITING SAG! This has been a lovely week in Los Angeles! One of this weeks full of magic moments. We went to our first ever screening at SAG! It was pretty special, we saw a screener of our mates feature film ahead of it being released. And the theatre at SAG is called the Meryl Streep Theatre. Then each chair has a different actors name on it, I was lucky enough to sit on the Matt Damon seat, Boss was on Julia Roberts and our mate Laura was on Ben Affleck, what a row! Apparently the names of people on these seats donated considerable amounts to SAG during covid. So the screening was loads of fun, we went to Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood afterwards to celebrate out mates! So surreal to see a movie come to life like that, so so cool. Then on Sunday we went to this Emmy nominations party for composers, Bosso is a composer so this was right up his alley. It was this cool house out in the Hollywood Hills and 4 composers and a choir performed from upcoming Emmy nominated TV shows, I loved the music from Agatha All Night Long. They also had a real life Emmy at this party, I made a wish on it naturally! This week I also had a lovely dinner at The Holloway House (which is part of Soho House), I went there with my mate Pip and we had dinner on their rooftop, it was a lovely place to watch the sun set. I also took a meeting at Los Feliz cafe All Time. This place is still one of my favourite places in Los Angeles, it reminds me of the cute cafes we have in Byron Bay, lands of outdoor seating and plants. Feels a bit magical you know. And now I’m about to start working on 2 influencer pitches, I have two scripts due today for influencer campaigns. So that’s a bit of fun! No auditions this week, but I’ve booked 3 exciting guests for the podcast, I’ve been researching different podcast studios, I have 4 Virgos in my chart, so researching and planning is right up my alley. That’s it from me fam-bam. P.s if you’re in LA and feel like a little getaway my yoga bud Meg and I are running a yogi retreat in October! 747. LA Diary

Los Angeles Actor Diary Righto Fam! I have a really exciting update for you… Something for the heath nerds and yogis! But first things first, lets have a little wrap up of the week; I’ve been crook all week, fighting some kind of lurgy, so my days off have been spent in bed, eating copious amounts of chicken soup, handmade by the Bosso of course. On the plus side, I’m slowly coming out of it, and the downtime has meant I’ve been able to chip away at my American taxes, which feel like learning a foreign language, its so different to back home in Australia. So it’s safe to say, I haven’t done a single audition this week, but thats ok, I’d be no good to anyone sounding snotty. Now for the exciting stuff, I’m running a yoga retreat in Joshua Tree in October with my mate Meg. It’s a 3 night, 4 day retreat in October. Thing, yoges, hiking, cacao ceremony, breath work, somatic movement, lovely nourishing food and that stunning Joshua Tree backdrop. Imagine waking up to desert light streaming through your window, moving your body in a gentle morning yoga flow, sharing nourishing meals with a small, supportive group, and feeling your nervous system finally exhale. This retreat is your permission slip to rest. Join us in the magical landscape of Joshua Tree for a weekend designed with one intention: Rest and relax.Life is full — sometimes overwhelmingly so. This retreat is our way of creating space for you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself without distraction. We’ll weave together yoga, breathwork, connection, and the natural beauty of Joshua Tree to nourish your body, mind, and spirit. You’ll leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more grounded — with memories of laughter, stillness, and shared moments under the desert stars. Your experience will be fully supported from the moment you arrive: Daily yoga  flow +  yin to energize and restoreSomatic yoga  to tap into your nervous system and releaseBreathwork to clear your mind and open your heartCommunity hike through Joshua Tree’s breathtaking trailsSauna & cold plunge contrast therapy for deep resetPool time — perfect for sunny afternoons or magical starlit swimsCacao ceremony & sound bath to soothe your soulAmple downtime to nap, journal, read, or simply beThree nourishing meals per day — with love and intention Here’s the link, if you’re interested, it’s on from October 2nd-5th and we will have day passes available too. https://unfoldyourdharma.com/returnretreat p.s I just pulled you an angel oracle card for today and here’s what you got: “Devine Magic: Extra magical energy surrounds your situation right now. 741. LA Diary - Lions Gate Portal 8:8

Welcome Back to the Friday Diary for Los Angeles Today I'm popping on my yogi hippie hat and talking to you about the Lion's Gate Portal:  8:8 Lion’s Gate Manifestation portal Righto, this is more of a hippie spiritual update but today is the Lion’s Gate Portal. It’s the 8:8 Manifestation portal. Quick little update of the week that was here in La La Land; I auditioned for the role of a nun yesterday, it was lots of fun, comedic commercial, I did it in both an Aussie and American accent and it’s the first time I submitted 1st takes, I didn’t look at them, just hit submit, kind of freeing really. I’ve also been teaching a bunch of yoges and to be honest, what I’m about to talk about here is how I’ll be theming my classes this weekend, so let’s dive into the magic of the 8:8 Manifestation Lion’s Gate Portal! So today its the 8th of August, 2025. In Astrology its said to be a really lucky day for manifesting. It’s called the Lion’s Gate Portal. In numerology 8’s are all about manifestation too; they’re linked to abundance and infinite power. On top of all this we’re in a 9 year, so its a big year for transformation, shedding the old you and stepping into who you truly are. This is all about catch and release; catch what you want to bring in and manifest and release anything thats holding you back, limiting you or blocking you from bringing amazing things in. Think of this time as an opportunity to light your heart up, this is all happening in the fire sign of Leo, a sign that really goes for it, knows their worth and has a strong sense of self belief so tap into that. We also still have 4 planets in retrograde; Saturn, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto. So we want to stay clear, honest and grounded in our manifestations. During Lion’s Gate Portal we have the rising of the star Sirius, its one of the brightest starts and its said to be connected to our souls, which is why that during this time you might feel connected to your intuition, have creative and emotional breakthroughs. So in a nut shell, set aside some time, pull out a pen and paper, light a candle (Leo energy) and make a list of eventing you want for your life if there was no obstacles, lets bring in watch you want to catch. Then right a list of the stuff thats holding you back, and be brutal with yourself, and you guessed it, thats the stuff we’ve got to get you releasing. As Terry (my therapist) says; “Lola, its time to draw a fuck-it line in the sand.” And this Lions Gate Portal is just that, the perfect time to not hold back, to get so clear on your intentions and make bold moves to get exactly where you want to go. You’ve got this, be brave, its time to fan thats flicker of a flame in your heart and turn it into a wildfire! Big love from La La Land! LolaSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

738. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Actor Diary! I AM AN ACTOR This week I saw my therapist and and this is the sentence he got me to write down; I am an Actor, and gave me homework; for one month I am to live this mantra, to fully embrace being an actor. You see, self doubt creeps in more often then I’d like to admit, and during our therapy session this past week. Terry (my therapist) said; “There’s a part of you that doesn’t believe in yourself as an actor.” Tough pill to swallow, but he was right, I didn’t. Being an Aussie in LA means we constantly undersell ourselves because of the tall poppy syndrome that’s baked into our culture. Put plainly, this means that if you celebrate your wins too much you’ll be cut down. And American’s literally have no concept of the idea, at all. It’s absurd to them, and I kind of love it. It’s taken a lot of getting used to but it really means that you’ve got to kick that self doubt to the curb. It’s the only way to thrive in America. So with all that said, back to my awesome therapist Terry, he said; “Lola, you need to see yourself as an actor, and nothing else. You’re an actor with an awesome podcast. You’re an actor who’s written a bunch of books. You’re an actor who knows heaps about nutrition and yoga. You’re an actor.” So here goes: I am an actor. 735. LA Diary!

Welcome back to the Friday LA Diary! Los Angeles Actor Diary  Self motivation. That’s the stuff that can get tricky if you’re having a down day or you’ve had a week of no auditions. And the truth is, that this week there’s been no auditions, but the podcast has been really exciting and busy here in LA so I’ve found that the pod is letting me throw myself creatively into prepping and researching up coming guests. The podcast has keep me motivated and propelling forward. As we near Fearlessly Failing’s 6th birthday I feel more and more grateful that this podcast exists. It’s been a passion project that keep giving back to me, especially when I need that little glimmer of light to keep me staying on course and focused on the dream. So thank you to anyone out that who listens to the podcast, it’s such a cherished part of my life that wouldn’t exist without you, the listener. And if you haven’t listened to it before, it’s called Fearlessly Failing with Lola Berry and you can listen to it wherever you listen to pods (apple, Spotify, iheart radio app, you name it). So this week, all in all has been a positive one. Let’s start with the Aussie Christmas party; it was huge! 250 people for lunch on Santa Monica Pier, then it turned into a wild afterparty that 1500 attended. The highlights for me were catching up with lots of lovely Aussies I hadn’t seen for a while and the Aussie food. The menu was headed up by two Aussie Chefs living here in America (Dan Churchill and Monty Koludrovic) and the steak was the stand out for me. I actually ran into this week’s pod guest at the Aussie Chrissy party, Monty Franklin (who’s been on the pod before) but we got chatting and he came back on the pod ahead of his global tour, he’s got a brill movie he’s working on too. Episode comes out Sunday arvo American time, Monday morning Aussie time. If you’re an ambitious creative then this is the ep for you. He’s honest, frank and loves being an Australian. Then we caught up with out mates for dinner Monday night, Matt made an Italiano feast with days worth of left overs from homemade focaccia to fresh biscotti from scratch. It was really nice to just have a chilled dinner and hang with mates and their pups. I’ve been trying out a new local yoga studio this week too, its called One Down Dog and there’s 3 locations across LA, def work a visit if you’re in Los Angeles and missing yoges, they have 3 week passes for $79 Speaking of yoges, my friend (and fellow yoga teacher) Meg and I are putting our minds together to lead a yoga retreat later in the year in Palm Springs. We’re just in planning mode at the moment but I think it will be lots of fun, I’m about to focus on the menu ideas after I finish this diary entry. So I’ll keep you posted, but its shaping up nicely. This week’s read: my friend Alex lended me this book: Amid Clouds and Bones by Ella Fields, I’m 3 chapters in an loving it, this fantasy faeries and it’s shaping up to be enemies to lovers. So far, so good. I’ll report back. We’re off to Santa Barbara tomorrow, we’ve never been but out neighbours have a ranch there so we’re looking forward to our weekend adventure! I’ll let you know what it’s like and might even have to create Santa Barbara travel guide podcast episode, some sweet friends have given me such great recommendations. Righto, thats my week in lovely Los Angeles! Big love - Lola Big Love Lola xSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

732. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Diary The week that was… Righto cool things that happened this week: I got an audition for a nurse, I’ve just submitted the tape, it’s for a commercial, I got to play a nurse for a little while, the script was heartwarming too, it’s between the nurse at a school helping a kiddo out. As you probably know by now, I teach a fair bit of yoges here in LA but yesterday I got to teach at a new studio, a little closer to where we live and it was so much fun and so nice to connect to the local community. I’m committed to trying all my local yoga studios over the next couple of weeks, I love exploring all the different yoga schools, communities and teachers. Matt and I have binge watched the TV show Fall Out (its on Amazon Prime), the set and costumes were off the chain. It’s scored a bunch of Emmy noms this week too. Then we’ve stated the new Lena Dunham show on Netflix Too Much, it feels like a dark comedy, its quirky and witty and we’re really loving it. In my down time this week I’ve been business cutting audiograms for upcoming podcast eps. Next week we have JMo, Aussie Journalist who’s just bought a book out called Mental as Anyone.  He has a really successful pod too. Speaking of pods, in Australia I’m signed to iheart radio and I did an event around mindfulness for them a little while ago, but I wanted to share the artwork for the event here. Sometimes I just do the thing and forget about it, but this was a fun one so here’s a little bit about it. And finally, this weekend we’re going to Aussie Christmas in LA, you see Christmas time in Australia is always in the Summer so 2 Aussies (Scott Tweedie and Jess Staats) created one big lunch and part for Aussies living in LA to celebrate Christmas in July (and American Summer, just like back home). It’s been going on for 5 years but this is my first time attending. The lovely Alexandra Stone, designer and creator of label Zandra Stone has sent me a lovely Summer dress to wear to the event so I feel very lucky. Righto, that’s it from me fam, big love, Lola p.s here's the recipe i promised! It's from one of my books: The Happy Life Blueberry muffin smoothie: Intro: I love making smoothies full stop, but I really love making smoothies that taste like a treat even thought they’re loaded with so many health goodies! Serves: 2 Ingredients: 1 cups of frozen blueberries 1 cup of cashews 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (or coconut nectar or honey) ½ a fresh vanilla bean, or a pinch of powdered vanilla, or just a ½ a teaspoon of extract 2 cups of almond milk (hazelnut milk works really well too) Topping: 1 teaspoon of almond meal 1 teaspoon of dried blueberries Method: Pop everything into the blender, and depending on the season the berries may need a little more sweetening so have a taste before you pour it up, then top with almond meal and dried blueberries Big Love Lola xSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

729. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Diary; the week that was in LA.  This weeks thoughts (plus oracle card reading at the end! It’s funny how as an actor some days it feels like you’re in a contact state of failure, with absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel. Then there’s days when everything feels possible, it’s like this indescribable energy that only comes when you’re truly going after your dreams. Yesterday I felt flat, sure I can blame it on the full moon in Capricorn but lets be real, I feel flat when I’m not actively working towards my dreams. And these hasn’t been as many auditions this week. Which logically I know I s completely normal because LA is notoriously quiet in the Summer months as people escape and soak up a Euro-Summer. And today I feel really positive, like anything is possible again. And nothings changed other than I made it to a yoges class and had a meeting with my acting manager. But nothing changed on the work front, there’s been no new auditions, I haven’t magically scored a role I the next Quinton Tarantino feature film. So I say this to say, is it all then just perspective and giving ourselves time to process, feel and experience all the things? I had a Canadian roommate teach me a cool saying, well she was less of a roommate and more of a took me in when I had no place to stay in LA friend. Whenever either of us would have a rough day she’d day “Lola, tomorrow we’ll have a fresh mitt.” Meaning it’s a fresh start tomorrow. So maybe thats all I needed, a fresh mitt, a new day. Today, I was reminded of an old dream I had, and lived. Someone sent me a piccy memory on instagram from my old smoothie bar in Melbs I used to own. It was called “Happy Place Lola Berry” and we’d say happiness is real when its shared. That became the motto of our little smoothie bar. It’s so strange to think back to this time, we had a smoothie bar 10 years ago and it was such a source of happiness and vibrant energy for 3 years. I remember selling it was such a hard choice for me to make; I was really emotional, and I was most sad about losing connections with the staff, customers, and partners in the business. It was such brilliant lesson to learn in my 20’s. I was full of passion and drive but I lacked logic and the patience to study the P&L at the end of each day. Since then I go into business with a different perspective, I try to see the whole picture and I’m not afraid to ask for help if I don’t understand something. How does all of this help me today? Well, I think it’s taught me that yes passion, tenacity and drive are important, but you also need logic, steadiness and to be grounded even whilst chasing the big dreams. I guess thats spoken like a Virgo Sun & Moon with Sagi rising, lol earth with fire. Anyway, working on a smoothie bar dream was lovely and here’s some piccys of this adventure: Big love, LolaSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

726. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Diary! Here's all the things I got to do over the last week living in Los Angeles:  “I am back to accept all roles immediately, I can pick and choose what role I want to play and am sought after and contacted for several roles continually. Divine order. Divine order. Divine order.” My psychic friend Denise taught me this and whenever I feel flat to rest this phrase over and over. And can I tell you, I do! More often that I might like to admit. This week’s been a mixed bag; I did such a fun self tape as a nurse for a procedural drama, it was so much fun. The second I put the scrubs on I got nervous, but like good nervous if that makes sense. Fingers and toes are crossed, would love this one to come to life. I’ve also filmed a fun influencer campaign for a place I already love, it’s a health spot called Erewhon and a new smoothie launched this week in collaboration with Travis Scott and Magic Mind, so I got to go in, test it out and make a reel. Then on the days I don’t have auditions or filming commitments I feel less productive which is total BS. I’m such an A-type and completely addicted to getting shit done. The Summer in Los Angeles is notoriously shitty for actors because everyone heads away for a Euro Summer. But I remember last year thing really picked up in September so i’m using this time to get myself feeling ready for the opportunities that will come. I have also discovered another Mumford & Sons song that I absolutely love; it's called October Skies and its from their “Delta” album. 10/10See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

724. Fearlessly Failing: Palm Springs, Joshua Tree & Pioneer Town Travel Guide.

Hope you love this travel guide ep! Here's all things:  Joshua Tree, Palm Springs & Pioneertown Joshua Tree is a haven Matt and I love to escape to when LA starts to feel all a bit too much. So here’s a few of our fave Joshua Tree things we were able to do with Mum while she’s been visiting America. LUNA BAKERY PIONEERTOWN PAPPI & HARRIETTES MAJOVE FLEA TINY PONY Luna Bakery: This is a load organic sourdough bakery and I’m just going to say it, this place has the worlds best cinnamon scrolls, they have the perfect amount of tang (I’m guessing that’s from lemon rind), and they heat it up for you. Matt’s a huge fan of their focaccia flats and they change the topping each day. Pioneertown: This place is a must every single time we’re visiting Joshua Tree, it’s an old Western Town established in 1946 by a couple of actors back I the day, and it was used to film Westerns in. Def worth a visit if you’re into anything Western or even if you’re a film buff.  Pappy & Harriette’s: This restaurant and bar is located in Pioneertown so def make sure that this is your dinner spot, its 10/10. Try the 8 year old aged Pappy’s whiskey and def try their ribs. Look out for musical acts because they have some great gigs there. This trip we just so happened to be at P&H’s for the launch of a Mezcal company (its called Illegal Mezcal) and this meant, free drinks, free merch and Boss even scored himself a free tattoo. Mum was rapt with her free merch too! Mojave Flea: This is for anyone who loves a spot of shopping, and local shopping at that, it’s full of local designers. There’s one in Palm Springs too, but they carry different things. I would say the Joshua Tree one is my fave! Lots of greta pressies ideas. Tiny Pony: Two words: pickle martinis! They’re so yummy, so instead of olive brine they use pickle juice, and it works! And they’re This is a fun dive bar, super chill and def feels like a locals spot which I love. Matt and I shared a burger each, her got the tiny money burger (which was a beef burger) and I got the chicken sand which was a chicken burger (so delish) and mum got the shrimp tacos which she loved. Then we shared an apple pie with ice-cream (which was $6 - barg)! Honourable mentions: Brewja Elixir Bar: They make this this eye mind opening later made with blue lotus flower that the boss and I love and get every single time we’re in town. Very hippie vibes, but in the best way Rabbit Hole Gift Shop: Very cute Joshua Tree goodies, and I picked up a great cowboy hat for $39 so great value! Joshua Tree Trading Post: Another great gift store vibe, the set up is really cool, easy to go in and just chill out The Dez: We took Dad here when he was in town last year, they do great brekkie sandos, and they have nice GF bread too. Joshua Tree Coffee: Sweet little coffee shop and I believe the coffee beans are roasted on site, really nice, always busy on weekends. PRO TIP: For Joshua Tree I love discovering new airbnb’s they’re great value this time of the year because the Summer is so hot here. Make sure yours has A/C and a pool comes in really handy too. PALM SPRINGS: Righto here’s how we spent 24 hours in Palm Springs First off, I had to work in the morning in LA so we didn’t leave until midday but that turned out to work out really well with the traffic. So we arrived at TERRA which is a wellness hotel; complete with ice bath, Himalayan salt sauna, rain room, pool and jacuzzi. Soon after we checked in I had pre booked an Ayurvedic massage, so thats a form of Ancient Indian Medicine, you see we humans have a combo of 3 doshas that essentially make up our constitution, they’re vatta, pitta and kappa. And we each have more dominant and less dominant doshas. So this massage was about calming down my vatta and helping to ground me. It was unreal, it started with a facial and head massage then covered the whole body, I had a brilliant sleep that night too. After the massage to help the special Ayurvedic oils soak in I had a Himalayan salt sauna. Then we chilled by the pool before meeting Mum for dinner. She really wanted to go to this dinner spot that’s on Cary Grant’s estate, its called Copleys and its a really vibe, lovely outdoor summer vibes. Classic Americano meals and the drinks looks awesome, Bosso and I didn’t have anything to drink that night but Mum loved her Pino Grigio, they are very generous with their portions of both food and drinks in America. We call it a Gold Coast pour! Lol The waiter told us loads about this estate, apparently Cary Grant lived in a mansion 3 streets away but had this place so other actors could stay here. We went for a walk downtown Palm Springs after dinner then headed home to watch The Studio which the Bosso and I are loving. The next morning TERRA had a yummy brekkie spread of granola, yoghurts

722. Fearlessly Failing: Nashville & Memphis Travel Guide

Righto! I was luck enough to spend 3 days in Memphis and an Afternoon in Nashville. I'm a bit of a music nerd so this is very much an musical adventure. Here's my itinerary and handy travel tips: 3 DAYS IN MEMPHIS: DAY 1: Mum and I met at Memphis airport I got a 6AM flight out of LA then flow into Austin Texas and got a connecting flight to Memphis, all up it took about 6 and half hours. Explored Beale St which is full of bars and music venues It’s located in downtown Memphis Renowned for its deep roots in blue music Then we headed to Blue City Cafe which is known for its famous ribs, which naturally I had to try, they came with coleslaw and spies beans, so yum! Mum got the seafood gumbo (which comes with okra) and she got “Larry’s greens” which was more like collard greens and absolutely delis. I had a Tennessee whiskey and mum had a Pino Grigio from California DAY 2: Sun Studio tour, ok this was incred, its $20 and you legit get to stand where Elvis and Johnny Cash wrote so much magic So its a rock-n-roll recording studio and it’s legit still there, the sound proof tiles in the ceiling and walls, the same piano with a cigar burn in it. Sam Phillips created Sun Studio and built it up to be what it became. They even have one of the microphones Elvis used This has been the place so many iconic artists have written music; Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash started their careers Fun fact: its also a coffee shop and the coffee is delis (local roasters called French Truck Coffee) In this arvo mum and I split up, she really wanted to head to the Civil Rights museum and its also the location where Martin Luther King was shot. I went to the STAX museum of American Soul music its where Otis Redding recorded a bunch of music. It was an old movie theatre converted into a recording studio. Isaac Hayes also wrote his famous Shaft theme song here, and this museum houses both his Oscar and Grammy, oh and don’t forget his Cadillac. I’m so glad I visited this museum, it felt really special Then I met mum for dinner at Flyway brewery and I had a really nice local whiskey called “Old Dominique” I got a bowl of Brussels sprouts, then mum and I shared a plate of pickles and she got some cheesy dip situation. DAY 3: It’s Graceland Day! We pre-booked our tickets for an 11AM start time, now if you’re staying downtown like us then you’ll def need to uber to this location We met for a coffee first, went to a little cafe called French Truck Coffee (local roasters) Then we headed to Graceland, straight out of the gate its HUGE! It’s like an Elvis Disneyland and they’ve thought of absolutely everything. There’s 6 different gift shops and 10 museums outside of the the Graceland house. We spent the whole day here, legit didn’t leave until it closed at 5PM so my first tip is plan to spend the day if you want to see everything. It started with an audio guided tour of Graceland and the mansion is as you would imagine it, exactly how he would have had it. The dinning room is complete with silverware that was gifted to Elvis and Pricilla from their wedding. My two favourite areas were his “jungle room” which was green and inspired by his time in Hawaii, and complete with an indoor waterfall. I also loved his meditation area which is also where he’s been buried, along with his parents, great grandmother, daughter and grandson. I found the memorial meditation area really emotional. I popped my hands on the grass where his grave is and thanked him, I also made a secret wish. If you’re an Elvis fan then this place is an absolute must! Then we went to dinner at an Elvis inspired diner called “Marlowe’s” just down the road, I of course had to try the ribs, they were insanely good, I tried a Kentucky whisky this time. It was $5.50 and the brand was Kentucky Deluxe. The ribs, beans and coleslaw were all 10/10 Then we headed home and mum packed for Chicago while I packed up for my Nashville adventure tomorrow. Thanks for having us Memphis! Next up is Nashville!  1 DAY in NASHVILLE (well more like an afternoon)  Here’s how it started: - I caught a bus from Memphis to Nashville, its about 3 hours and 15 mins, I booked via the company “Vonlane” its a luxury bus service so you get blankets, snacks, a meal, coffee and wifi. I was a happy camper! It’s really pretty countryside too, so lush and green and lots of river systems. - My grand plan was to hit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum first then head to the Johnny Cash Museum and end with some famous Nashville fried chicken. My flight wasn’t til 8PM so I figured I could cram a lot into 5 hours! Here’s how it went: - I got dropped off downtown Nashville and the hotel I was dropped at stored my suitcase for me, that was a huge help and I high tailed it to the Johnny Cash Museum first, because that was my top

719. Fearlessly Failing: Creating a TV pilot with Weston & Wade

Weston and Wade McElhaney are the showrunners, writers and producers of their new TV pilot "Codependent" which they also both star in (I was lucky enough to get to film for a day on this pilot too, so much fun)!Check out the pilot trailer here: Codependent Trailer Wade and Weston are born and raised in Los Angeles, they've been acting since they were kiddos. They studied screenwriting at Chapman University. And have gone viral on both TikTok and Youtube over the years for their parodies.  These two humans are funny, witty and hard working. They're also extremely humble and curious. I get the vibe they always tell you the truth too. In this chat they even talk about auditioning for Ryan Murphy and how the audition didn't go exactly according to plan.  Now let's talk more about the pilot, they share what goes on when it comes to creating your own pilot from writing it, rewriting it, to raising funds and booking the right people for the jobs. In a nutshell Codependent is a TV show pilot about twin brothers Max and Tristan. They're great at being brothers, not so much at being their own person. The pilot starts off with them sucking at their jobs and getting fired which leads them to compete for the same film assistant job. Spoiler alert: only one of them gets the job... but that doesn't mean they can't both do it?Speaking of raising funds, this is often a hard part of bringing dreams to life, but thanks to Seed & Spark they were able to raise a bunch of money to film in both Los Angeles and New York, but now it's post production time so they need our help. You can donate and pledge here, and they have a bunch of fun merch to buy too, I have the tote bag! Support here Big love, Lola xSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

718. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Diary Righto, this week has been a goodie, had an audition for an Aussie company that was really fun. Sent off 2 takes and it’s nice not having to worry about the accent. It’s always easiest to stay in your natural accent. The tone was fun, honest and confident.  I’ve recently signed with an acting manger, her name is Holly and she’s wonderful, she inspires me to stretch myself as an actor. And she’s so encouraging. It’s so nice working with someone who truly believes in you. I’m also putting a self tape down tomorrow for a medical procedural drama. Which I’m so pumped about!! I’ve got the lines down, I’ll rehearse it some more today then tape it tomorrow.  Speaking of tomorrow… We’re going to see Mumford & Sons at the Hollywood Bowl! I said to matt, I think I’ll cry!  Today is a full moon in Sagittarius and to be honest, I’ve felt a little like I’ve been in a washing machine, although I’m a sun and moon Virgo my rising sign is Sagittarius. Some stuff has felt great, like the auditions and fun podcast news (more to come on that soon 😆) but other things have felt a little clunky. There’s riots in LA right now, the energy here just feels intense and a little uneasy.  On a more positive note we’re pup sitting for our friend Chanel, she has a lovely black lab named Mahalo and she’s been a dream to look after. So sweet and happy, so nice to have dogs vibes at our place, she definitely teaches us to be more present. Dogs are one of the best things in this world. We also finished watching season 2 of The Last of Us then dived into The Pitt. It’s by the same show runners as ER and its a gritty medical drama, the pace makes it so entertaining and really draws you in. The whole season spans one 15 hour day working in the Pitt or ER, so ep one is 7AM-8AM, then episode two is 8AM-9AM such a genius format, and it really hooks you in. It’s on HBO MAX here, probs the same in Australia Righto, that’s it from me!  Sending you mega love from LA Lola See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

716. LA Diary

Welcome back to the LA Diary LA diary: the week that was in LA!THE GREAT AUSSIE BITEMatt and I got invited but Aussie Tourism to attend the “Great Australian Bite” and can I say, it was wonderful. It was hosted at Curtis Stone’s “Four Stones” farm in Agoura Hills (which is essentially like the hinterland of Malibu). It was stunning, he has his own vineyard out there and he was legit cooking us dinner. Well, us and 350 other souls, the location was so pretty! All the booze was local Aussie owned and created too. The star of the show was this slow cooked spiced lamb shanks with dates and pistachios. The passionfruit custard tart was pretty special too!It was such a fun way to spend a day in California!MUM IN TOWNMum landed a couple of days ago, she’s off to NYC now but she had a couple of days to kick the jet lag here in LA, we took to her a belated mothers day brunch at a place in Highland Park called “Highly Likely” I got a great GF turkey sando, Boss got the brekkie burrito and Mum got this delish savoury Japanese dish. She’s off to NYC now and I’m jealous because she’s seeing Denzel in Othello and George Clooney in Good Night and Good Luck! It’s going to be unreal, she’s in for such a treat! We’ll be catching up next week when she’s in Memphis.LAST OF USWe’re house sitting for our lovely friends this week and they have HBO so it’s been such a treat to be watching season 2 of The Last of Us, we’ve just seen the most heartbreaking episode. Matt was mortified, ah it’s such a brilliant show. And you know how I feel about anything Pedro Pascal!MEMPHIS and NASHVILLE PLANINGFor an early birthday pressies for mum I’ve booked us tickets to Graceland, so I think she’ll love that. We’re also hoping to visit Sun Studios and the Civil Rights museum. I’m then spending a day in Nashville before heading back to LA so if you have any Nashville or Memphis tips please let me know!Righto, that’s me from LA, no auditions this week but have booked a laser skin appointment and getting my hair dyed again so I’ll do fresh head shots in a couple of weeks.Big love from La La Land,LolaSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

714. Fearlessly Failing: TRUE CRIME LA with David The Medium

TRUE CRIME LA with a PSYCHIC Premise:  Righto, so here’s how it goes: I take David who’s a psychic and medium to notoriously haunted places or places that are big in the LA true crime world. And I don’t tell David anything! We just see what he feels then I slowly share with him the details of each location. This is our third true crime episode. So if you love this one be sure to check the others out! Now, in this episode we visited 4 locations, a couple widely known for their dark history others may be a little less known but just as interesting. So strap in my friends and enjoy this true crime tour of LA.  Before we kick off, I do want to pop a trigger warning here, there’s 2 locations we visit where there has been suicides. LOCATION 1: BLACK DAHLIA MURDER HOUSE Righto, this is where its suspected that Elizabeth Short aka The Black Daliah a 22 year old Hollywood Hopeful was brutally murdered in January of 1947. Her body was cut in half and drained of all its blood and a smile had been cut into her face. The house from the outside looks really cool. It's designed by Lloyd Wright and today is valued at about 4.8 million dollars (USD).  LOCATION 2: THE CECIL HOTEL  Ok this was hands down the spookiest location, over the years there's been over 30 deaths in this one location. And you'll hear that David and I were feeling a tad uneasy for the entire recording here, its fair to say the energy is intense.  Over the years; The Cecil Hotel has been home to not one, but two notorious serial killers, yes you read that correctly, the most famous being the Night Stalker Richard Ramirez who was't caught til 1985 and he's been convicted of 13 brutal murders, but it's believed there was more.  More recently there was the tragic story of Elisa Lam who's body was found in one of the water tanks on the roof in 2013 and theres really scary foot age of her in the elevator you can find on redit and tiktok. It's sfae to say, this place had a lot of dark energy around it!  Tigger warning; this is a location where people have taken their own lives.  LOCATION 3: THE BEVERLY CENTRE  This location came as a surprise to not only David but anyone i told that we were recording here. For those of your not familiar with LA its a shopping centre. It used to be an amusement park in the 40's and lots of strange happenings have been reported.  We were able to enter this location and record from inside the Beverly Centre.  Tigger warning; this is a location where people have taken their own lives.  LOCATION 4: CULVER STUDIOS This one is for all the Old Hollywood fans, it's beloved that the ghost of Thomas Ince can ben seen and felt at the still functioning iconic Culver Studios. The where Gone with the Wind and Raging Bull were created and filmed.  There's a couple of theories around the death of Thomas Ince and his death being a cover up. I'll let you decide.  For mental health support in Australia Beyond Blue has a 24/7 phone number: 1300 22 4636 For mental health support in America Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org I hope you loved this true crime LA ep with David the Medium. Meet Jenny; she's a writer, journo and podcaster. And she's just bought a book that I think you'll like. It's called "An Introverts Guide to Leaving the House." It's advice and a toolkit of sorts for introverts. It will help you to navigate pretty much any social scenario. One of my fave chapters is called "How to hit a party like a SWAT team" because I don't know about you, but I don't like going to big parties, I just get so awkward and don't know what to do with myself. These tips and tricks are easy to implement and since reading the book I've already changed the way I approach larger social gatherings. Jenny, thank you for the honest and kind chat, i hope this book flys and I'm sure it will! And thank you for teaching me that I'm a high-masking introvert. Because I seem like an extrovert but deep down I'm an introvert.  If you'd like to get your hands on Jenny's newest book, it's officially available in Australia and NZ tomorrow. You can order your copy here! And you can follow Jenny's journey on insta too. She's also completed in body building and loves all things fitness. Follow Jenny here!
