Ep 23Ep. 23: Optimizing Your Website for Sales Success with Hannah of Made with Boldness

This week, Becky Hart and Hannah Davis sit down to discuss the intricacies of designing effective websites for wedding professionals. They explore the benefits of using Showit, the importance of blogging and SEO, and the key components that make a wedding pro website successful. The discussion emphasizes the need for clear navigation, compelling copy, and the importance of showcasing pricing to attract the right clients. Key Takeaways Showit can be a better fit for wedding pros than other platforms. Blogging is an underutilized tool for wedding professionals. Websites need to have clear calls to action. Ep 20Ep. 20: Should the Luxury Market be the End Goal for Every Wedding Professional?

In this short solo episode, Becky discusses the obsession the wedding industry seems to have with the luxury market, and she questions whether it should be the ultimate goal for every wedding pro to serve luxury clientele. Becky emphasizes that luxury does not always equal success, and that it is very possible to run a successful wedding business while not serving the luxury market. She shares about a "sweet spot" that she has found in serving clients with budgets that are under the $100k mark but where clients are laid back, trusting of their vendor team, and still care about the details and the guest experience. She encourages wedding professionals to focus on providing a luxury level of service rather than solely pursuing luxury clients. Key Takeaways Not every wedding professional needs to strive for the luxury wedding market as the ultimate goal. The vast majority of weddings are not in the luxury market. Luxury does not always equal success in the wedding industry. Providing a luxury level of service is more important than solely pursuing luxury clients. Let's connect! Learn how to avoid burnout by taking the leap to scale your biz, with Jess Aiken of the Planner's Perspective and Wedding Company of Williamsburg. Jess shares her journey in the wedding planning industry, from starting as an intern to building a multi-6-figure wedding planning company with 12 employees. She shares insights on how she built her team, starting with her current assistants and training them to become lead planners. Jess also shares how she handles the pay structure for her team and how she manages a large team by using workflows and automations. Starting with current assistants and training them to become lead planners can be an effective way to build a team. Automating workflows and creating templates for emails and processes can streamline operations and ensure consistent service. Building a team requires relinquishing control and trusting others to deliver a high level of service. Ep 17Ep. 17: Getting Ghosted? Why It's Happening & What You Can Do About It

In this week's solo episode, Becky sits down to chat about all things ghosting in the wedding industry. What is it, why is it happening, and what can we do about it!? She also discusses how ghosting isn't strictly happening from couple to vendor, it's also happening from vendor to couple AND from vendor to vendor! Ghosting isn't going away any time soon, so we need to learn how to deal with it and learn how to prevent it to the best of our ability. Becky ends the episode with a note of encouragement and a reminder that there is only so much we can control, including our response to ghosting. Takeaways Ghosting is a common occurrence in the wedding industry, where couples reach out to vendors but never respond after the initial contact or even after the initial consultation. Vendors can prevent ghosting by being clear in their communication, providing clear next steps, and making it easy for couples to take the next action. Following up with potential clients is essential to prevent ghosting, as couples may be busy or distracted and need a gentle reminder. Ghosting can happen from both vendors and couples, and it's important for vendors to be understanding and not take it personally. Quick response times and clear communication are key to standing out among the many options couples have when planning their wedding. Ep 10Ep. 10: You Can't Do it All (And That's Okay) With Darcy Warden

In this episode, Becky interviews Darcy Warden, a virtual assistant for wedding professionals (and Event Crush's own VA for the last several years!) Darcy shares her journey from being a wedding planner to starting her own VA business during the pandemic. We discuss the different services that VAs can provide, the signs that a business might be ready to hire a virtual assistant, VA pricing structure, and how it's impossible for business owners to do everything ourselves. Plus Darcy shares her best advice for wedding pros, and it's honestly a must-listen! Key Takeaways: Hiring a virtual assistant (VA) can be a great way to delegate administrative tasks and free up time for more important business activities. A VA who is familiar with the wedding industry can provide specialized services and understand the unique needs and challenges of wedding professionals. VA services can include administrative tasks, CRM management, social media management, blogging, and email marketing. The pricing for VA services can vary depending on the level of experience and the specific services required. It is important to have a realistic conversation about budget and expectations. When considering hiring a VA, it is important to assess the specific needs of the business and determine if the investment will provide value and help achieve business goals. Hire a virtual assistant before you get to a place of desperation, so you have time to get set up and bring them on board. Have some organizational structure in place, such as organized files and systems, before hiring a VA. Recognize that you don't have to do it all and it's okay to hire someone. Identify specific needs and pain points in your business to determine what tasks to delegate to a VA. Set boundaries and improve email response times to run a successful business. Ep 5Ep 5: Wedding Day Do's & Don'ts for Planners & Coordinators

This week, I'm chatting about what wedding planners should and should NOT be doing on wedding days. As a planner, especially in the earlier years of business -- it's common to find ourselves doing things that are totally outside the scope of our services. So, let's clarify our role as planners/coordinators, diving into what we should be taking on and what we should be saying no to on wedding days. At the end of the episode, I share the two BEST ways to prevent these situations from arising (hint: they both start with 'C')! Even though this episode is focused on planners, any wedding pro should tune in as we all work with planners and it's important to know what we should expect of them and what we shouldn't be expecting of them. Throughout the episode I share lots of fun anecdotes from my personal experiences... the good, the bad, and the ugly. Would love to hear your thoughts -- shoot me a message on Instagram at @eventcrush and let's keep the conversation going! Key Takeaways The DO'S Wedding planners and coordinators should provide a vendor appreciation station to show gratitude to the vendor team. They should act as the point person between the couple and all vendors, handling logistics and answering questions. Having a fully stocked emergency kit is essential for dealing with any unexpected situations that may arise. Planners should ensure that all details are perfectly placed and execute any finishing touches. Delegating tasks to assistants is essential, as lead planners can only be in one place at a time. Being flexible and willing to jump in wherever needed is crucial for a coordinator's role. It's important for wedding planners and coordinators to know their boundaries and not take on tasks that are outside of their scope of services. The DON'TS Wedding planners and coordinators should avoid tasks such as bussing tables, hanging lights or decor that requires a ladder, handling food, beverage, or alcohol, acting as a DJ or MC, arranging flowers, and wrangling family members for photos. Clear communication and having a well-defined scope of services in the contract are essential to avoid getting caught up in tasks outside of the planner's responsibilities. It is important to set expectations with clients and vendors regarding the planner's role and what is included and not included in their services. Having a wedding day surprises document can help address any unexpected requests or tasks that arise on the wedding day. Personal experiences in other industries, such as photography or catering, can provide valuable insights and understanding for wedding planners and coordinators. Let's Connect!
