E039: Listen and follow through with what your soul craves. POINT 1: Pay attention to what your body is craving (not what your monkey mind wants). There is a difference and if you practice listening to your body and soul you will know the difference. POINT 2: Be aware of your shadow side. The shadow side is the part of you that wants to run and hide. This is fear taking over. It serves a purpose but not when you want to grow and evolve. Often times when my body does this I want to sleep (when I’m not overly tired, I eat crap food or I start yelling because I didn’t meet my own needs. POINT 3: The art of being in control is DOING what needs to get done. Yep. It’s that simple. This looks me years to figure out. There is no magic or quick fix. EPOINT 1: Every trigger is a lesson. I know, it’s annoying but our inner work is never done. EVER! Our children constantly how up and push us to become the best versions of ourselves. POINT 2: You don’t need to be with your child to create connection. There was a father at the Conscious Parenting event who shared a personal story with me about how he is currently unable to see his children. I shared a few easy ways to stay connected in the moment - and create connect for the future as well. POINT 3: You will piss people off when you decide to parent differently. We can’t become people pleasers when we do, we get angry and annoyed. This is currently my greatest lesson. You will have fan and you will have haters. Their own lens of beliefs. Take ALL advice and guidance and ask yourself “does this work for me?” POINT TWO: Don’t ask for advice if you’re really seeking permission. This is a sneaky one and it gets us every time. When you ask for advice making sure you’re asking the right person and not something who is emotionally involved in the problem. POINT THREE: It’s not up to him, it’s up to you. Start taking personal responsibility for what you want not what someone else wants. 032: The new way to discipline. No one ends up in tears.
EDiscipline is a very personal choice and something a lot of parents are confused about which approach to take. My personal choice is to do no harm. This isn't easy when my 'go to' place is anger and rage. So what can YOU do when it comes to taking a new approach to discipline in your home? POINT: Understand where your kids are coming from. How are they feeling in that situation? Was there something else going on that has nothing to do with you? Maybe they are upset and acting out because of a previous situation. What they might need in a hug instead of a lecture. POINT: Talk to them the same way you would want someone to talk to you. This is my go to question when I want to yell and scream. Would I respect it if someone else talked to me this way? Ask yourself this next time you want to punch a hole in the wall. You children will thank you. POINT: Be proactive instead of reactive. What can you do to avoid these conversations? Are there systems or alternative solutions that can be taken care of so yelling doesn't occur? Example: Late for school? POINT: Go where you feel GOOD (where you feel ALIVE). If you don't feel welcome somewhere, leave and don't return. Find the people that make you feel good and find more of them. We all have our people. Where are yours? It's a deep rooted human need to be in connection with others. POINT: Create what you want to be a part of. If it's not out their and you want it. Create it. 026: Why are you settling for good?
EPoint: Don’t settle for good, achieve greatness. Happiness comes when we are diving into our soul desires. Good is average, greatness is becoming who you were born to become. Point: Become what you most desire your children to be. We can not expect anything from others, if we are not willing to do it ourselves. Period. Point: Have hard conversations. EToday is a very special topic. As a coach and former Social Worker I've seen and witnessed many miracles happen with women and families all around the world. But their is one trend that I've started to notice. Change doesn't happen unless you believe it's possible and change won't happen unless you think you're worthy of change. This is a big problem because for so many who are struggling to make change in their lives, they are missing the point of WHY change isn't coming. Not feeling worthy is a STORY you've told yourself over the years. It's not the true essence of who you really are. TODAY'S ACTION STEP: Ask yourself if you believe change is possible.
