#807 - Crushing Clemson on the way to the ACC title game
All the angst and worry that permeated the Duke fandom 24 hours ago melted away on this night as Duke bounced back from a subpar effort against FSU to produce a good old fashioned beatdown of Clemson. The Duke Basketball Roundup gives you all the details from a contest that really wasn't all that competitive in the second half because Duke had so thoroughly stifled Clemson in the first half. Cameron Boozer was his usual dominating self. but Jason and Donald say the story of this game was the complementary success of Cayden Boozer and Nik Khamenia, who combined for 30 points and made winning play after winning play. Up next, the Virginia Cavs are all that stand between Duke and a very unlikely back-to-back ACC tourney title. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
#806 - Slim Saves Duke's ACC Dream
A little too close for comfort but Duke demonstrates "survive and advance" is what really matters in March as they take down the stubborn FSU Seminoles 80-79. The Duke Basketball Roundup breaks down what was a very unusual game for the Blue Devils. This was not the Duke team we have been watching lately as the Blue Devils really struggled on defense. Luckily, Isaiah Evans was in rare Showtime Slim mode as he set numerous career highs and carried the offense at times. Duke also ruled the rebounds, with a big shout out to Maliq Brown on the offensive boards. Next up, Clemson as the DBR Podcast and the Blue Devils roll on! Learn more about your ad choices. DBR Bites #151 - Caleb Foster, Pat Ngongba Out For ACC Tournament
Duke has two key players who are injured in Caleb Foster and Pat Ngongba. We discuss the updates on their health from Jon Scheyer and preview the ACC Tournament on DBR Bites #151. Jon Scheyer held a press conference today to update the media on the status of CFos and Big Pat. CFos - out for the foreseeable future with a fractured foot. Big Pat - resting his sore foot and hopefully should be ready for the NCAA Tournament. We hear from Coach about who could take over some of the point guard duties should Cayden Boozer need a breather during a game and how the coaching staff has helped him be the best coach in the ACC. We then get to a preview of the ACC Tournament, focusing in on Duke’s potential quarterfinal opponents, Cal or Florida State. We update you on what they’ve done since we last played them and take a look at the bracket at large to see some of the matchups that are notable. Make sure you’re following us! Despite injuries to two starters, Duke rolled over rival North Carolina in a win that seemed even more dominant than the 15 point final score indicated. The Duke Basketball Roundup breaks down all the things that worked for Duke in this game, starting with the stellar defensive disruptions of Maliq Brown and Dame Sarr that played a key role in a 24-2 second half run that had Cameron Indoor rocking. The podcast gang also marvel at the unrelenting Cameron Boozer and his stunning 26-15-5 stat line. DBR Bites #149 - GTHC, GTH!!
Revenge is a dish best served... in Cameron Indoor Stadium! The latest episode of the Duke Basketball Roundup is a look ahead to the eagerly awaited rematch with UNC. Of course, the big question hanging over this game is whether Carolina's Caleb Wilson will suit up. He's been missing time with a fracture in his hand and it sounds like he is close to coming back. Jason and Donald dive into what Carolina is like with and without their star forward. They also look at how playing this game in Cameron could bring an extra boost to the Duke team. After the break, the podcast team gets into the significance of Senior Day and how it may impact the play of Maliq Brown. Ep 802#804 - Sen-Sarr-tional performance sends Wolfpack to the kennel
Dame Sarr was incredible as Duke clinched the ACC regular season title outright. His offensive surge was a huge boost for the Blue Devils. We discuss his big night as well as the rest of what Duke did well to run away from the Wolfpack. There were a lot of great performances individually and collectively as NC State had no answer after about 9 minutes had elapsed in the game. There were some things to clean up, so we discuss what they can do a bit better. And, how can a timeout possibly be considered for Play of the Game? Stick around and find out! DBR Bites #148 - Rolling On To Raleigh
Fresh off a big win against Virginia, Duke has to turn it around very quickly to play NC State in Raleigh. We preview that game along with some other nuggets on DBR Bites #148. Duke has had some stinkers in Raleigh against the Wolfpack, but they're hoping to buck that trend. NC State has a lot of familiar guys from other teams, but have been inconsistent this season in several areas. We take you though what they've done this year, how they look in the metrics, and what it will take to get a win at the Lenovo Center. After the break, we have a couple of other stories to touch on. First, Nolan Smith has won a regular season conference title in his first season with Tennessee State! Could they be a potential Duke opponent if they make the NCAA Tournament? We also look at how many double digit leads Duke has held over the past couple of seasons, and we discuss the streets finally saying that Jon Scheyer might be a frontrunner for ACC and national coach of the year. #803 - Nothing Cavalier about this beatdown!
This just in, Duke is really, really good. Facing yet another big-time opponent, a team on the fringe of the top ten and a club touted as the second best in the ACC, the #1 ranked Blue Devils ran roughshod over Virginia this weekend in a game that was mostly non-competitive. Jon Scheyer and his troops have built one of the most fierce and suffocating defenses in modern college basketball history, taking a Virginia team that was routinely reaching 90 points in other games and dismantling them to the point where they struggled to get to 50. The Duke Basketball Roundup spends a lot of time talking about the quality of the D and which guys are really standing out on that end. It is also worth noting that Isaiah Evans and Darren Harris caught fire from outside in this contest, contributing mightily to the easy victory. Be sure to check out the whole episode, as you will love listening in as Cam and Slim compare themselves to Patrick Mahomes and Randy Moss. Learn more about your ad choices. #802 - Beatdown in South Bend
Well, that was fun! The Blue Devils showed exactly zero mercy facing an injured and outmanned Notre Dame club on Tuesday night, throttling the Irish in a game that felt like it was over only minutes after it had begun. There are so many superlatives coming out of the win -- the biggest Notre Dame home loss since 1898 -- that it takes some time for the DBR Podcast to fully lay them all out. The podcast crew has special praise for the balance Duke showed on offense and defense. After the break, the guys dive into a few other topics, including the never-ending search for a good nickname for Dame Sarr. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

#801 - Huge win in DC, down goes Michigan!
This was arguably the biggest non-conference regular season game Duke has played in years. Everyone said it felt like a Final Four atmosphere. And when the dust cleared at the end of a physical and emotional battle, Duke was the team with the victory and the vaunted Michigan Wolverines took the L. Both Donald Wine and Scott Rich of the DBR Podcast were in the building for the game. They join Jason Evans for a look at the big takeaways from this game... a contest that will surely result in Duke being ranked #1 in the polls and with the inside track for the overall #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. DBR Bites #145 - DC Battle with Michigan
We have all had this one circled on our calendars for a while. On Saturday, Duke ventures to the nation's capital for one of the biggest non-conference games you will ever find in February. #1 Michigan versus #3 Duke (though with Houston losing this week, the winner of this game is sure to be #1 on Monday). And the Duke Basketball Roundup is uniquely situated to provide you with a great preview of this game because DBR regulars Donald Wine and Scott Rich know Michigan as well as they know any team not named Duke. Listen in to find out what it is that fuels Michigan's #1 ranked defense and why this Wolverine club is currently on a path that would make them one of the best few teams of the past 30 years! DBR Bites #143 - Tigers Come To Town
One of the most interesting, and best coached, teams in the ACC comes to Cameron on Saturday in the Clemson Tigers. The Duke Basketball Roundup crew takes a look ahead at the battle between the ACC's #1 team and the club that is right on their heels. Head coach Brad Brownell has put together a fascinating club this year. There are no stars on Clemson, not a single guy even averages 30 minutes of playing time per game. But, they play hard and play together -- a classic example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts. Have a listen as Jason and Donald dissect everything you need to know about the only ACC team to beat Duke last season. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
#797 - Jordan Brenner is Back!

#796 - Pouncing on the Panthers
Let's just be honest, Pitt gave Duke more trouble than expected in their matchup on Tuesday night. The Duke Basketball Roundup dives into what was a sluggish, but ultimately successful outing for a Duke team missing Big Pat, its main man in the middle. Jason and Donald start out talking about the guards who led the way, Slim and CFos. They also have kind words for Darren Harris, who has seemed like the forgotten man in recent weeks. Is this the start of a revived role for him? We do go back to the court storming briefly to get an update on the staffer that was injured, with audio from head coach Jon Scheyer from the weekly ACC press conference. We then proceed with previewing the Pitt game, and Pitt has not been great this season. The metrics show where their flaws are, and we hear from Jeff Capel on the rebounding matchup between his team and Duke. We then get to some of the players that Pitt has, though a couple of the guys they rely on the most are out due to injury. #795 - Crushing Loss to Carolina
Ugh... for 39 minutes, 59 seconds, and 6-tenths of a second, Duke was controlling Carolina... and then Seth Trimble had his moment. The Duke Basketball Roundup has a full breakdown of the dispiriting loss to the Tar Heels. But, you won't catch Jason and Donald wallowing in anger or frustration at the refs, the court storming, or other excuses. Instead, the DBR Pod crew is focused on how Duke gets better from this moment on. What lessons were learned in this contest and how does Duke avoid the kind of late-game meltdowns that have led to each of the team's losses this year? There were plenty of positive takeaways from the contest and many reasons to still think this Duke team can do some pretty special stuff that will cause this loss to quickly fade from our memory. We then shift to Duke, and Jay provides us with his thoughts on what Duke needs to do in order to walk out of the Dean Dome with the win and the bragging rights. DBR Bites #140 - BC Comes to Cameron

Jason and Donald break down everything you need to know about BC, including some truly amazing statistics involving free-throw shooting and mid-range jumpers. These stats are going to really wow you! After the break, the guys also look at how the ACC is shaping up in terms of NCAA tourney bids. DBR Bites #138 - Duke & Mensah Settle Lawsuit
The lawsuit that everyone has been talking about is over. Duke University and Darian Mensah finalized a settlement that would allow each to go their separate ways, and we discuss it on DBR Bites #138. Jason and Donald discuss what the settlement means for all parties and how it will affect Duke Football moving forward. Donald discusses why a settlement was always the most likely result and what it could mean for NIL deals at Duke and elsewhere. Darian Mensah - and Cooper Barkate - have both moved on, committing to Miami last night. Now, the focus turns to the players that remain as they start the preparations for the 2026 season. We also get into the 2026 Duke Football schedule, which was released on Monday night. Duke has a loaded schedule, but champions always get tested in the season after they win. Ep 777#788 - Duke's Dominating Defense Destroys Stanford
The Duke Blue Devils demolished the Stanford Cardinal 80-50 on Saturday evening. Donald and Scott Rich return to recap everything on Episode 788. Duke got it done by dominating the paint and with suffocating defense. We go through all the things that the Blue Devils did well to smother Stanford. They took Ebuka Okorie out of the game and they didn’t let anyone else beat them. On offense, Cam Boozer led the charge, but Duke controlling the paint and getting to their spots allowed them to start out quickly and never look back. We also get into the things that hopefully will improve from this game as well as discuss our plays of the game and player of the week honors. Duke becomes just the 2nd team since Cal and Stanford entered the ACC to go west and win both games, so we’re certainly happy about that! Make sure you’re following us! DBR Bites #135 - Breaking News: Darian Mensah Enters The Portal
What a gut punch! With just hours before the window closed, Duke quarterback Darian Mensah has decided to enter the transfer portal, and in all likelihood will be headed to play for Miami. It’s a short emergency DBR Bites #135 as Donald flies solo to discuss it for a few minutes. Of course, Donald has the unique perspective as a Duke and Miami Law alum. So, we try to parse through the emotion in part to figure out what’s next for Duke after this news. It’s not great for the program to see their quarterback leave just a couple weeks after he announced that he was staying at Duke. It certainly throws a lot more questions into the roster and whether Duke can continue to hold onto players before the transfer portal entry window closes. There’s also Mensah’s contract that included Duke exclusively hanging onto his NIL rights. There are a ton more questions, but we will be back later this weekend to make more sense of this. DBR Bites #134 - How To See The Cardinal Through The Trees
The Duke Blue Devils remain in the Bay Area on their West Coast road trip, and a date looms tomorrow against the Stanford Cardinal. Donald and Scott Rich preview the upcoming game on DBR Bites #134. Stanford is doing well this season, and they are coming off an upset win on Wednesday night against UNC. Duke hopes to buck the trend of ACC teams failing to go 2-0 on their Bay Area road trips, and Donald and Scott go through how they can do that with a win against the Cardinal. Rebounding will be a key, but also they need to figure out how to stop Ebuka Okorie, who had a career night against the Tar Heels and is one of the best players in the country. After the preview, the NCAA may have done something right! They have changed the dates of the transfer portal for men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s hockey, and it will now open the day after the national championship games for those sports. We discuss the NCAA finally doing the bare minimum in shifting the portal dates so it doesn’t make coaches have to try and recruit during the NCAA Tournament. Make sure you’re following us! Ep 784#787 - Defense Helps Duke Pull Away From Cal
The Duke Blue Devils got another win on the road, taking out the Cal Golden Bears in ACC After Dark action. Donald and Scott Rich recap everything on Episode 787. The Blue Devils had another slow start, but they were able to work hard defensively to stifle the Bears. And, they were able to control the paint, scoring inside in the 2nd half to pull away. Duke also got some solid play from players in ways that don’t always show up on a stat sheet, and that was the difference in seeing the team pull away down the stretch. We get into the stuff to work on and we also get into the play of the game by Isaiah Evans, but we couple it with another play where the sequence creating a successful play for Duke that broke the spirits of the Cal fans in attendance. Ep 781#785 - A Tale of Two Halves As Duke Beats Louisville
The win was so stunning, we needed to collect our breath! After the vibes check episode, Donald and Scott Rich return to give a full recap of the Louisville game on Episode 785, with discussion on each of the halves and what made them what they were. The second half was the good, featuring the stellar play of Caleb Foster, Cam Boozer, and Isaiah Evans on offense and Dame Sarr and Maliq Brown on defense. It wasn’t a quick blitz to storm back and take the lead. It required patience, tenacity, and tough play to eventually overcome a 12-point deficit and end up winning by 11. We then get into the bad that was the first half and we discuss what Duke did wrong to allow Louisville to storm out to the big lead. We also look at a couple of individual performances that weren’t great on the night. We close with our play of the game, which was a play that hopefully helps Duke turn the corner as we head toward the weekend, leaving the inefficient play in the past. Make sure you’re following us! We also discuss some key individual performances because to tough that game out, guys like Cayden Boozer - in his first start - had to step up. After the break, we get into the stuff we need to work on, and there was a lot that made this game a struggle. Free throws were once again a subject, but Duke’s defense is entering a troubling trend.
