Ep 185185: Our Relationship with Food with Dr. Glenn Livingston
Food can be friend or foe. It all depends on our experiences and our relationship with food. Sometimes, food can even be an addiction, causing moments of purge and patterns of overeating. Tonight on Dr. Lo Radio, we're covering a heavy topic that many of us have experience with: bingeing. My guest, Dr. Glenn Livingston, has personal experience in this area, as a psychologist, a worker in the food industry, and as a formerly overweight individual. We'll dive into the patterns around food and bingeing, plus actionable ways that you can break your bad relationship with food. Glenn Livingston, Ph.D. is a veteran psychologist and long time CEO of a multi-million dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry. Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants. Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more lighthearted relationship with food.
Ep 184184: The Paleo Thyroid Connection with Elle Russ
You might not know this, but part of the reason I stick to a Paleo diet is because of my issues with my thyroid. My friend and my guest tonight, Elle Russ, literally wrote the book on how the Paleo diet can help those with thyroid problems – and even those without. Tonight on Dr. Lo Radio, we'll dive into the mechanics of the Paleo diet and why it has such an impact on thyroid healthy. Elle Russ is a writer, health/life coach, and host of the Primal Blueprint Podcast. She is becoming the leading voice of thyroid health in the burgeoning Evolutionary Health Movement (also referred to as Paleo, Primal, or Ancestral Health). She sits on the advisory board of The Primal Health Coach Program created by Mark Sisson, bestselling author of The Primal Blueprint. Elle wrote The Paleo Thyroid Solution after consulting with over two dozen endocrinologists, internal medicine specialists, and general practice MDs...but her thyroid condition was only getting worse - and nothing from doctors resembled a solution, or even hope. Exasperated and desperate, Elle took control of her own health and resolved two severe bouts of hypothyroidism on her own – including an acute Reverse T3 problem. Through a devoted paleo/primal lifestyle, intensive personal experimentation, and a radically modified approach to thyroid hormone replacement therapy…Elle went from fat, foggy, and fatigued – to fit, focused, and full of life!
