S2 Ep 298Longevity Expert Andy Galpin Shares the Number One Predictor of Health-span, And It’s Not What You Think!

This episode is brought to you by Birch Living, Lifeforce, and Plunge. We’ve heard of tests that are used as traditional measures of longevity. Still, a lesser-known but equally important test that should be factored into longevity and long-term independence is VO2 max. This test measures how well your body uses oxygen during exercise, which ultimately translates into how efficiently your body uses oxygen in daily activities as you age. According to today’s guest, increasing VO2 max can significantly reduce your risk of all-cause mortality. Today, on the Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with Dr. Andy Galpin to dive deep into VO2 max and why he believes it is one of the best predictors of longevity. Dr. Galpin breaks down the research behind this test and why it's critical for everyone to know their VO2 max baseline. He also shares why a low VO2 max can cause chronic fatigue, making it challenging to engage in daily activities, and shares his top tips on increasing your VO2 max if you are starting your exercise journey. S2 Ep 287Debunking Health Myths: Digging into the Truth About LDL Cholesterol, Heart Disease, & Keto Diet with Dave Feldman

The current thoughts around LDL cholesterol center on the fact that there is no scenario in which high LDL numbers could occur in healthy individuals. Traditionally, the belief is high levels of LDL can lead to a greater risk of cardiovascular disease regardless of metabolic health. Today’s guest is here to share his hypothesis and research on how higher cholesterol levels in metabolically fit individuals could be a physiological response rather than a pathological response that can lead to disease. Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with Dave Feldman to discuss high levels of LDL in metabolically healthy individuals. Dave shares the current research on high LDL and cardiovascular disease in individuals eating a ketogenic diet. He also shares his personal approach to focusing on metabolic health and the key markers critical to overall health. Dave discusses the process and findings of the Oreo experiment conducted by his colleague and explains why this experiment further proves their hypothesis on how LDL particles move through the body. Dave Feldman is a software and platform engineer, entrepreneur, and founder of the Citizen Science Foundation. Through a series of self-experiments and partnering with formal researchers, he has since published the "Lipid Energy Model," which may explain this phenomenon. S2 Ep 265"Hidden Mold Was Slowly Killing Me!” - How Kristina Baehr Discovered the Root Cause of Her Mystery Chronic Illness and Uncovered a Massive Cover-Up Attempt

This episode is brought to you by Butcher Box and Lifeforce. We know that environmental toxins in our air and water can cause chronic disease. Mold is one of those deadly toxins, and exposure can cause symptoms that can’t be explained by traditional testing or by doctors who are unfamiliar with how symptoms may present themselves. Those suffering exposure can often feel hopeless and unsupported. In addition, there is often no accountability for the experts or individuals who either intentionally or negligently caused the mold exposure. Today’s guest hopes to change that. Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with attorney Kristina Baehr about her family's personal experience with toxic mold and their journey to seek justice for the emotional, medical, and financial damages they suffered. Kristina shared what she learned about their symptoms, how her home had become a toxic bubble, and the lack of accountability on each party involved in the home building and inspection process. Kristina also shares why she started her law firm and made it her mission to help individuals suffering from exposure to environmental toxins, and discusses the facts of the Red Hill case in Hawaii, where military families were exposed to water contaminated with jet fuel. Kristina Baehr is a national trial lawyer representing sick people against the companies that made them sick. She founded Just Well Law to help clients recover financially to rebuild their health and lives. Kristina is also a former Assistant US Attorney and represented the United States in civil actions, including catastrophic personal injury. S2 Ep 263Super Charge Your 2024 Goals and Intentions with my Step-by-Step Gratitude Workshop

Today on the Dhru Purohit Podcast, I share a simple gratitude practice to help supercharge and accelerate your goals and dreams. At the end of the year, many of us set New Year’s resolutions or intentions for how we want the next year to go. I see an interesting pattern as people start to list their goals, dreams, habits, and the things they want to give attention and energy to. But this process often involves focusing on what is lacking and the areas where they feel they are not enough. Today, I share three questions to ask ourselves before we set our goals, which I call a palette cleanse, that will help us remember that no matter how we feel we did at the end of the month or year, we did the best we could. It also allows us to remember how supported we were and what we did to help other people. Here is the practice No matter how big or small… 1) What’s something tough or challenging that I did this month? 2) Who’s someone who did something for me? 3) What’s something nice I did for someone else? Remembering these three things changes your vibration for what you think is possible and takes you out of negativity bias into positivity bias. In this episode, Dhru dives into (audio version / Apple Subscriber version): Why this gratitude practice is key (1:09 / 1:09) Negativity bias (10:45 / 8:10) Threats to our mental health (12:25 / 9:55) Deprogram negativity (13:10 / 11:30) Our brains as detectives (16:27 / 13:55) Gratitude as mediation on the goodness in our lives (17:51 /15:00) The Science of Gratitude (22:22 / 17:45) Deep diving into the Gratitude Protocol (27:15 / 22:57) How to implement the Gratitude Protocol (40:20 / 35:58) Also mentioned in today’s episode: Episode with Dr. Tara Swart Episode with Bruce Lipton Episode with Gottmans Newsletter on Gratitude and Research For more on Dhru Purohit, be sure to follow him on Instagram @dhrupurohit, on Facebook @dhruxpurohit, on Twitter @dhrupurohit, and YouTube @dhrupurohit. This episode is brought to you by Whoop, Beekeepers, and Cozy Earth. Nowadays, discussions around politics and viewpoints have become increasingly divisive and hostile. Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with his good friend and author Denise Gitsham to discuss politics, polarization, and critical thinking. Denise is the founder of Vitamin D Public Relations, a boutique communications firm that operates at the intersection of law, policy, politics, and the media. S2 Ep 261How To Reprogram Your Body, Mind, and Spirit to Break Free of Past Programming, Illness, and The Matrix with Dr. Bruce Lipton

This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health, ButcherBox, and Pique Life. Our minds are incredibly powerful, and we know our mindset and thoughts can influence our health, manifestations, and actions. But when we face challenges or engage in repetitive patterns, it's difficult to know the steps we need to take to liberate ourselves from negative thoughts or tendencies. Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with biologist and world-renowned author Bruce Lipton. Bruce shows us how our minds are like computers and discusses how most of our programming comes from watching our environment before the age of seven and can often include self-sabotaging behaviors. Bruce shares tips on how we can become aware of our dysfunctional programming and empower ourselves to manifest the life we intentionally want to create. He also breaks down the difference between the subconscious mind, which allows us to function on autopilot, and the conscious mind, which involves thinking with intention and purpose. Bruce deep dives into the science behind action versus reaction, how it impacts our health, and the steps we can take to prevent illness and promote longevity. Bruce Lipton is a stem cell biologist and best selling author. His research challenges the traditional view that genes determine our biological destiny and suggests that our perceptions and experiences play a crucial role in shaping our health. In this episode, Dhru and Bruce dive into (audio version / Apple Subscriber version): 95% of our life comes from programming outside of our own (3:20 / 3:20) Where we get our programming from and how it is similar to being under hypnosis (10:00 /10:00) Why 60% of the programs we have downloaded for our mind are dysfunctional (20:06 / 17:35) How we actively created our problems and what we can do to fix them (21:56 / 18:49) How we spend most of our time reacting rather than intentionally acting (34:12 / 29:00) 90% of illness is from stress (37:41 / 32:00) Function of the mind: Making coherence between beliefs and reality (56:04 / 51:22) Belief in the inevitability of aging (1:00:20 / 55:53) The programming that Bruce came into and how he deprogrammed his mind (1:09:29 / 1:05:11) Three avenues to reprogram your mind (1:16:22 /1:11:56) Also mentioned in this episode: Calm App Division of Perceptual Studies Access more than 3,000 specialty lab tests with Rupa Health. S2 Ep 250Fat, Stressed, & Sick: The Role of Glutamate and Hidden MSG in Our Food Supply with Katherine Reid, PhD

This episode is brought to you by WHOOP, Bioptimizers, and Lifeforce. Glutamate is a neurotransmitter essential for our health and plays a crucial role in activating our nervous system and immune response. However, when foods are ultra-processed, they can create glutamate in excess amounts, which, when overly consumed, can cause symptoms associated with anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and increase chronic inflammation in our body. Today on The Dhru Purohit Podcast, Dhru sits down with Dr. Katherine Reid to discuss glutamate, its link to monosodium glutamate, and the alarming amount created in our food supply through processed proteins. Dr. Katherine Reid earned her PhD in biochemistry, specifically focusing on protein chemistry. She switched focus soon after her daughter was diagnosed with autism and discovered that reducing MSG in the diet managed many of her daughter’s symptoms. Dr. Reid is the founder of Unblind My Mind, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health through informed food choices, and now works closely with the public, including the medical community, to devise food solutions for people suffering from a wide variety of chronic inflammatory conditions.
