Together they lifted the lid on Savile’s prolific and serial sexual offending behaviour, targeting the most vulnerable in society in plain sight. When 22-year-old Gabby Petito disappeared in September 2021 there was national and international media coverage, and rightly so. However, when her body was found in Wyoming it brought into sharp relief the 715 indigenous people, 466 who were women, who went missing in Wyoming a decade before Gabby who received little, if any, attention in the news or on social media. Laura wants to help change this. In this episode Laura interviews Cara Chambers, Director of the Division of Victim Services at the Office of the Attorney General of Wyoming and Dr Emily Grant Senior Research Scientist at the University of Wyoming. Both Cara and Dr Emily work on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Task Force in Wyoming. We spotlight the findings from the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Wyoming State-wide report authored by Dr Emily Grant. Laura interviews Kerri Kasem, Casey’s eldest daughter, advocate, TV and radio producer, writer and host as well as co-founder of KasemCares.org, which she set up to help others experiencing elder abuse and/or coercive control. Kerri’s father, Casey, was best known as the voice of America’s Top 40 as well as the voice of Scooby Doo. Kerri and her siblings were granted conservatorship just before Casey died, but his wife Jean disappeared him. Distraught, Kerri hired a private investigator to track him down. Sadly, Casey died on June 15 2015 and was buried in an unmarked grave in Norway.
