<p>An orchestra can be used as a metaphor to liken the members of the church working together. To be part of a successful orchestra musicians understand: 1. Their ability is a gift. 2. Their purpose can never be fulfilled without others. 3. They are to serve others and not be not self-serving. 4. It will take hard work and needs to be fueled by passion and joy.</p>

<p>Small groups are God’s idea for us to be connected. It is a place where we find freedom and belonging. Small groups where part of God’s design for the church from the beginning.</p>

<p>We naturally follow things we love. Likewise, we will find that following God is not burdensome when we encounter His extravagant love for us.</p>

<p>We fish for clues, for a particular response, fish for gossip, or go fishing for a sign. We may find ourselves searching or fishing in the wrong place. We’re not the only ones who went fishing and didn’t seem to be at the right place at the right time.</p>

<p>The disciples approached Jesus and asked him to teach them how to pray. There are different manners of prayer that every believer needs to know in order to be effective in spiritual warfare.</p>

<p>The “armour of God” is a metaphor to help us understand how we are to prepare ourselves for spiritual warfare. The believer’s shield of faith is an unwavering trust that the power of God will stop every attack of the evil one.</p>

<p>There is an invisible spiritual force that is at war with us. In the scriptures, we have a clear insight on who our enemy is, and how to battle him. The Old Testament story of Hezekiah’s victory over Sennacherib provides a parallel truth between a natural battle and our spiritual battles.</p>

<p>Generosity is about stewardship. It is about stewarding everything God had given, which includes our treasure, our talents and our time. But it also includes something else God entrusted us with - His Earth.</p>

<p>In order to build a spiritually healthy home we need to be: 1 Generous in Pro-vision 2 Generous in protection 3 Generous in prophecy</p>

<p>Today we will look at two rich people who teach us about the enemy of generosity and the key to defeating this enemy.</p>

<p>Jesus’ words shocked His audience because they were offensive to the culture of His day. Jesus’ words still challenge culture and call us to a radical life of generosity.</p>

<p>While invited to the home of an influential ruler Jesus gave key insight on how to live a generous life. 1. Jesus first addresses the guests on their pride and arrogance. Luke 14:7-11 2. Jesus secondly addresses the host on his selfishness. Luke 14:12-14 3. Grace empowers us to be generous to more than just our friends and family, it will extend to our enemies. 4. To experience God’s grace we must first come to Jesus’ table.</p>
