“Send Coach John a message”The theme of having more courage and being braver has been circling around me for the last couple of weeks. So not only do I know I had to dig a little deeper into this thought, but I know others probably needed some ideas too. My students have been producing some impressive blogs as of late and when I gave them a choice to pick their most impactful or meaningful blog assignment from this past term - it was the one on Bravery / Courage that got the most mentions -by far! I took this to heart as it's probably one of the messages that I needed to have repeated to myself so that I could actually be braver & more courageous and keep going after some of the things in my life that I need to. The old addage about "Lesson repeated until Lesson learned" came to mind of course. I have been putting things off, mainly due to fear and I know recently with a few reminders on how we don't know how much time we have - that I can't continue to do this anymore. “Send Coach John a message”A tough two days in our family recently - two deaths happened to people near and dear to our family, and there are a lot of sad feelings. In the midst of the sad moments come gratitude - or at least that's what I'm looking for. There are always plenty of lesosns in life's tragedies and with things like this happening to all of us at any given moment in our lives, it's up to us to find lessons through the pain and tears. I hope for myself that I have the courage to fix the things that I don’t like carrying or the things that I know or find out, that are not good for me to carry in my life. I hope you can reflect on this too and make the changes you have to make. As I sit here with a cup of coffee and our dog sitting on my lap as I edit this on a Sunday morning – the sun is just peaking into the window and it’s a very comforting feeling. “Send Coach John a message”Great start to my Friday when I listened to a podcast from John O'Leary - it's another MUST listen to - find it here: http://johnolearyinspires.com/2019/10/heal-kelly-noonan-gores/ It got me thinking about Love vs. Fear and how I should consciously choose more things in my daily decisions that are connected to Love and not so much for fear. In fact, as I put this podcast together this morning, I have found myself starting a little bit on the fear / negativity side. Now after setting this up and listening to this recording again, I realize that I needed to re-do my mindset and not have my day continue in a negative & fearful way. The time away is always nice, but then I'm so blessed going into work at a job that I truly enjoy. So much valuable time that I had with my parents - saw my sister and one of my nephews play football too. A great book about Leadership and how people are looking for someone to lead them - especially in this new age of technology. “Send Coach John a message”Amazing time recently at a high school reunion golf outing - raising money for my high school class of 1984 at Catholic Central High School for a memorial scholarship fund. Got me thinking about how fast time is going by along with the fact that we have lost 15 of our graduation class already. Life happens to everyone, but when it's someone you grew up with, it hits a little closer to home for sure. So not only do I think we can't forget where we came from - for it helped shape us into who we are today - but I think it keeps us going in a direction to keep learning from our past. We may not like where we grew up or where we went to school, but it helped to shape who we are today. I am trying to focus in on my purpose for being here in life along with the fact that I can only control my effort & attitude.
