Ephraim Mattos graduated high school in 2010, joined the United States Navy, successfully graduated BUD/s (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) training, and became a member of a west coast SEAL Team. After leaving the US Navy SEAL Teams in 2017, at the age of 24, he flew to Iraq and joined a small group of volunteer humanitarians known as the Free Burma Rangers. Until being shot by ISIS on a suicidal rescue mission, Mattos witnessed unexplainable acts of courage and sacrifice by the Free Burma Rangers, who, while under heavy machine gun and mortar fire, assaulted across ISIS minefields, used themselves as human shields, and sprinted down ISIS-infested streets-all to retrieve wounded civilians. Sometimes you find yourself in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica, training jiu jitsu and spending time with close friends. These are some of my favorite trips, and I always enjoy sitting down and picking the brains of experts in their fields. As usual, we covered much more than just jiu jitsu, as these conversations often span life in general, and business. We definitely spent some time unpacking and discussing the recent multi-million dollar injury award to a white belt jiu jitsu student, and the potential impact on jiu jitsu academies worldwide. Henry Akins began training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in 1995 at the Rickson Gracie Acadamy on Pico blvd in West LA. Shortly after he started he became the secretary at the acadamy and was spending 70 hours a week there watching and participating in all of the classes. In 1997 the school moved to the Pacific Palisades where Henry trained and assisted main Instructor Luis Heredia and also participated and trained in all of the classes taught by Rickson. In Feb of 2004, because of his persistence and dedication to the fundamentals and philosophies of Jiu-Jitsu, Rickson Gracie presented Henry with a blackbelt, being only the third American at the time to receive that honor. Nick was born in Hollywood Florida. He spent his childhood training to be Batman and planning his next big adventure. He grew up on the move and lived in 5 states by the time he was twelve. This only made him more adaptable and comfortable with integrating into any environment. His teen years took a turn and were rocky to say the least. Nick was forced into juvenile detention at the age of twelve. After shaking his past Nick needed to find a new direction. Nick joined the Marine Corps at 19 but not without a fight. Because of his troubled youth, Nick had to seek legal counsel just to be accepted. He suffered from a wrist injury within his first week of boot camp. He spent five and a half months in basic training but graduated company honor grad. It was his perseverance through adversity that set the tone for his future and a foreshadowing of things to come. Nick went on to become a 12 year Special Operations Marine Corps veteran with Marine Reconnaissance and Marine Special Operations Command. He has deployed in support of OIF/OEF and other places all over the world. Has trained foreign police, military, and militia in several countries. His military career prepared him for successful leadership and strategic operational planning. Nick is the founder and CEO of Alexander Industries as well as a successful adventure + informational YOUTUBE channel with his partner and wife Alison Capra. Fresh out of high school, Kelsi Sheren, a nineteen-year-old woman, sought to join the military to help liberate those oppressed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. While she was often the smallest person in basic training, she proved she had the biggest heart and often the most energy. She made it to Afghanistan and joined a British military unit for house-to-house insurgent patrol. The title is pretty accurate, this episode is mostly shenanigans. We recorded this after our most recent leadership event in Dallas. Mike spent 18 years in the US Army and as a government contractor for OGA (Other Government Agency, it was probably the CIA but who really knows these days). He served as a SGM (Sergeant Major) in Special Forces in various positions and deployed multiple times to combat theaters. He is an expert in Counter-Terrorism, security, and crisis management operations and is the host of the Fieldcraft Survival and Mike Force Podcast. Mike is an avid outdoorsman, overland, traveler, and hunter. He has a bachelor's degree in Homeland Security and resides in Utah, where he is the CEO of Fieldcraft Survival. George Monsoor is the father of Michael Monsoor and a Marine veteran. He was born in Wisconsin and moved to Southern California at an early age where and his wife, Sally, were married for forty-nine years and have four children, including Michael, along with nine grandchildren. He has spent more than five decades in the business and entrepreneurial fields and continues to reside in Southern California. George and Rose Rea are the co-authors of "Defend Us in Battle". The book includes a foreword by Dr. Donald C. Winter, former Secretary of the Navy. Through interviews, military documents, and eyewitness accounts, the authors detail Michael's remarkable military career and devotion to God and others. The book highlights how Michael prepared for this selfless act all his life—a life that will inspire readers to have a similar generosity of heart. George's son, Michael, was a Navy SEAL, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on September 29th, 2006. His Medal of Honor Citation reads: The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pride in presenting the Medal of Honor (Posthumously) to Master-At-Arms Second Class (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor, United States Navy, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as Automatic Weapons Gunner in SEAL Team 3, Naval Special Warfare Task Group Arabian Peninsula, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 29 September 2006. As a member of a combined SEAL and Iraqi Army sniper overwatch element, tasked with providing early warning and stand-off protection from a rooftop in an insurgent-held sector of Ar Ramadi, Iraq, Petty Officer Monsoor distinguished himself by his exceptional bravery in the face of grave danger. In the early morning, insurgents prepared to execute a coordinated attack by reconnoitering the area around the element's position. Element snipers thwarted the enemy's initial attempt by eliminating two insurgents. The enemy continued to assault the element, engaging them with a rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire. As enemy activity increased, Petty Officer Monsoor took position with his machine gun between two teammates on an outcropping of the roof. While the SEALs vigilantly watched for enemy activity, an insurgent threw a hand grenade from an unseen location, which bounced off Petty Officer Monsoor's chest and landed in front of him. Although only he could have escaped the blast, Petty Officer Monsoor chose instead to protect his teammates. Instantly and without regard for his own safety, he threw himself onto the grenade to absorb the force of the explosion with his body, saving the lives of his two teammates. By his undaunted courage, fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of certain death, Petty Officer Monsoor gallantly gave his life for his country, thereby reflecting great credit upon himself and upholding the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

Logan Stark is the VP of Media for Black Rifle Coffee Company. A Michigander by birth, Logan joined the US Marine Corps shortly after graduating from Greenville High School. He trained as an infantry assaultman with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines out of Camp Pendleton, California, and later completed deployments to Okinawa, Japan, and Sangin, Afghanistan, as a scout sniper. After his time in the Marine Corps, Logan earned a degree in professional writing from Michigan State University. Jariko was born in Washington DC and as a military brat grew up all over the world. In 1997 he enlisted in the US Army. After basic training and Airborne School, he completed the assessment and selection process for the 75th Ranger Regiment and was assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Ft Lewis Washington. Jariko went on to serve in the Ranger Regiment for 15 years. Jariko deployed to combat 15 times in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2002-2012 as a Weapons Squad Leader, Rifle Platoon Sergeant, and Ranger Company First Sergeant amounting to 54 months of total combat experience as part of a Joint Special Operations Task Force. Jariko retired from active duty in 2017 after four years as the Senior Military Science Instructor at St. John's University in New York City. Since retiring he has advised on several major motion pictures, national ad campaigns, and television series as well as working as a freelance journalist in Afghanistan and Ukraine. He now works for Black Rifle Coffee as a Content Producer and lives in Salt Lake City Utah.

JTF 2 exists to protect Canadian national interests and combat terrorism and threats to Canadians at home and abroad. Dallas was a member of a sniper team that was responsible for the world's farthest confirmed sniper shot while on a deployment in Iraq. Post-service, Dallas has pursued his music career, focusing on singing, songwriting, and live performances.

I am knee-deep (more likely neck-deep) in my first true business venture. Mistakes have been made. There are a lot of people who want to start a business, and many don't know where to look. The 777 Expedition was an amazing journey, with 7 successful jumps on 7 continents in just over 6 days! For the members of the team, the impact was immediate and powerful. After being home for just over a week and finally having some time to think and process, I realized there were very powerful lessons to learn or reinforce from each continent. Mike was born & educated in Australia. His career began on MacQuarie Island as a geophysicist with an Australian expedition in 1971. He would go on to found Quark Expeditions and pioneer tourism transit to the polar regions with Russian icebreakers. In the late 1990s, he sold Quark in order to focus on new ventures in space travel and deep ocean exploration. He currently serves on the board of Space Adventures which offers space travel to the general public and operates Deep Ocean Expeditions which has coordinated dive expeditions to the Titanic, the Bismarck, and the Mariana Trench. Mike is currently a partner in Antarctic Expeditions and Logistics which offers air transportation, logistic support, and guided experiences for those venturing to the interior of Antarctica.
