S5 Ep 217Getting REAL About Soft Skills With Jodee

In today's stream-of-consciousness episode I refer to several books: The Soft Edge by Rich Karlgaard Excellence Now: Extreme Humanism by Tom Peters The Mystic Jesus by Marianne Williamson The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership by Dethmer, Chapman & Klemp Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill In Peters' book he says that "Hard (numbers/plans/org charts) is soft: Plans are often fantasties; organizational charts have little to do with the way the organizatoin actually works; and numbers are readily manipulated....Soft (people/relationships/culture) is hard: The best 'people practices' (caring, training, acknowledging) create teh most wholesome, community-minded organizations - and win in the marketplace as well") pp. 25-26. Here is the fifth point of the Self-Confidence formula from Think and Grow Rich to which I refer: "I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure unless built upon truth and justice; therefore, I will engage in no transaction that does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism by developing love for all humanity - because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me because I will believe in them, and in myself."

S5 Ep 216Getting REAL About Love and DEI With Chloe Valdary

Chloe Valdary, founder of the Theory of Enchantment, has accomplished a lot in her relatively short life. She created her platform as a response to her research into international conflicts, when she noticed there was no framework using love to address those types of situations. She wanted to learn how to teach people to love the human behind the persona, and studied pop culture to learn a way to do that. Through stories about overcoming challenges, those brands show two important things about the human condition: we are flawed, and we are sacred. Her work centers around bringing inclusion, trust and well-being into organizations where conventional DEI work might not be producing the desired results. For more information about Chloe, visit her website https://www.theoryofenchantment.com/ You can also visit https://www.enchanteddojo.com or https://www.enchantedtune.com. If you know you'd like to work with her, send her an email at [email protected] and put "I want to work with you" in the subject line.

S5 Ep 215Getting REAL About the MasterMind Concept with the POWER Five

Every Wednesday morning for the past five years I've gotten together - virtually - with this group of humans. We've shared laughs and tears; we've been through deaths and family challenges and lots of victories together. This group proves that trouble shared is trouble halved, and joy shared is joy multiplied. Listen in as Dody Kettler from Minneapolis, Theresa Halvorson from Fargo, Ed LeQuire from Rochester, MN and David Boswell from Austin, TX join me for this peek behind the curtain into how our tribe has supported each of us over the past five years.

S5 Ep 214Getting REAL About Commitment With Jodee

Today's episode continues my exploration of the book "The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership." I explore the concept of commitment, and also share the Change Formula from this book: (V x D) + FS > R = C (Vision x Dissatisfaction) + First Steps > Resistance = Change If we aren't compelled enough to actually overcome our resistance to change, there's no reason to beat ourselves up about it. We might simply be interested (we'll do what it takes when it's easy), but not committed (we'll do what it takes even when the emotion we said it in wears off). It's going to take committed citizens to actually create sustainable change. If we're operating consciously, we remain Open, Curious, and Committed to Learning, and then we become compelled to actually DO SOMETHING to have that change happen. I also mention the Enlightened Leadership Lab, our Monday community where we connect in a safe space to take our ideas to action. Find out more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com.

S5 Ep 213Getting REAL About Waking Up to Consciousness with Jodee

If you look at your life from an objective perspective, can you see how you learned things? Were the lessons that seemed most important to you ones you learned in a formal class? Or did they just kind of show up for you in a "random" way? Today I share some ahas I've had recently after a couple of enlightening conversations with friends. I touch on the topic of money, playing an infinite game, agreements we've made about "rules." What causes you to wake up to new awarenesses?

S5 Ep 212Getting REAL About Leadership With Jodee (and Friends)

Today I talk about Leadership - is it more about the LEADER or the SHIP? I have help from several friends who engaged in the dialogue through Facebook chat. We covered topics like consciousness, ego, intention, love & fear, and dialogue, and proved that energy really is non-geographic: we can FEEL things even virtually. I also mentioned the Enlightened Leadership Lab, which is a group I co-facilitate with Chris Angell on Mondays. We also have a weekly podcast, where we debrief the week's conversation. You can find more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com. My course, REAL Me: Intensive, starts June 3 for 6 weeks on Mondays. Learn more at www.getrealcircle.com.

S5 Ep 211Getting REAL About Creativity and Collaboration with Jodee

Since January of this year I've been working with a client and our focus is building the Culture, Communication, and Leadership within their organization as they work to become an employer of choice. They are focusing on not only recruiting employees but attracting them, which is a subtle but important shift. Our Q2 focus is on Communication to Appreciate and Recognize. We started by contemplating the distinction between the Golden Rule and the Platinum Rule as it relates to communication. I've started wondering and pondering that rule in my own life in the past few weeks as it relates to politics. And I've had some revelations. Today I talk about my online community called the Enlightened Leadership Lab (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com) and my six-week online course called REAL Me: Intensive (www.getrealcircle.com). I also mention the book "The 15 Commitment of Conscious Leadership" by Dethmer, Chapman, and Klemp and The Platinum Rule of Communication by Dr. Tony Alessandra.

S5 Ep 210Getting REAL About Self Awareness With Jodee

In today's episode I talk a bit about my own self-awareness journey. Self-awareness is such an interesting journey. Once you begin to awaken, it's difficult - if not impossible - to go back to the way you used to see things. You can become aware of things in a new light, and you can observe out of judgment or out of compassion ... or maybe just out of curiosity. What are you beginning to notice that you didn't notice before? Was it there all the time and you just didn't have eyes to see it or is it truly a new observation?

S5 Ep 209Getting REAL About Fear With Jodee

In today's episode I dig into fear, which, really, is just the opposite of love. It's what takes us over when our egos get involved. I cite few resources today, mostly Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, but also the Landmark Forum (www.landmarkworldwide.com) and A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. Fear is either authentic: it awakens you to something that threatens your physical survival, or it's inauthentic: everything else. I talk about the Fear of Poverty from Think and Grow Rich, and how much of a hold that unconscious fear might have on so many of us. I also mention a couple of membership groups I co-facilitate. The Enlightened Leadership Lab (www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com) meets on Mondays from 3-4:30 central, and the Bentley Club group meets on Wednesdays from 11-12 central. There we are studying the principles of Think and Grow Rich, and will be jumping into Hill's 1938 book Outwitting the Devil next. S5 Ep 208Getting REAL About Owning Your Curiosity with Jodee

Back in 2016 I fulfilled one of my bucket list items: To speak on a TEDx stage. And, I also fulfilled a not-so-great "goal": to see if I could recover from a very public mess-up. I bombed my only attempt at a TEDx talk (I literally forgot what I was going to say). I've learned a lot since then, but have never watched the video. I've never ever revisited the message I wanted to convey, until I shared this story with my REAL EA group yesterday. They challenged me to share the story, and share the message I wanted to share that night in 2016. So here it is ... without the drama and shame and upset that went with it in the moment. (And it's actually Episode 208 ...) If you are interested in checking out a membership group where you are safe to ask the important questions and build your confidence and active listening skills, check out www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com.

S4 Ep 207Getting REAL About Wellness With Stefanie Meyer

Wellness is so much more than just physical. Today's guest, Dr. Stefanie Meyer, is an expert in health: body, mind, spirit. She is committed to assisting people in being well. That's very different than treating the symptoms of illness. She wants to be able to support people on the "well" end of the spectrum, rather than the "ill" end. Throughout her journey, Stefanie has been uncovering what her passion "isn't," as she's gotten clearer on what her passion actually "is." In this conversation we talk about perspective, perception, what works and what doesn't to help all of us live a full and WELL life. Stefanie's consulting business is called Sustainably Well, and you can get in touch with her through her LinkedIn profile at: linkedin.com/in/stefanie-meyer-phd

S4 Ep 206Getting REAL About Your Calling With Jodee

Self-awareness might be the single greatest advantage leaders will have and can develop in order to experience the world the way they truly desire to experience it. What are you doing to grow your own awareness? In this episode I talk about the concept of listening to your calling, which I define as "a strong inner pull or sense of purpose that drives a person to pursue activities, work, or causes that align with their values, passions, and talents, and that bring them a deep sense of meaning and fulfillment." I also mentioned an idea by Einstein that has us ask ourselves if the universe is a friendly or an unfriendly place. The way we answer that will affect the way we interact with anyone or anything in our space. Ponder along with me some of these deep thoughts and think for yourself. What would you do? How would you be? If you would like to have more of these types of conversations on a regular basis, consider joining the Enlightened Leadership Lab. You can find out more at www.enlightenedleadershiplab.com.

Today's conversation is with Jerry Nabb, a brand new friend I've been following on Facebook for the past year or so. Jerry is a personal and business coach who has been on a long and purposeful journey. In this conversation, he shares parts of that journey and also the wisdom he's been accessing his entire life. S4 Ep 204Getting REAL About Being KOOL With Jodee

Back in my Keller Williams days now a decade ago, I learned an acronym from a very wise teacher named Dick Dillingham. The acronym was what we as presenters and trainers and coaches would benefit from becoming. The acronym was KOOL: Keen Observer Of Life. I've never forgotten that, and I've been practicing ever since. In today's episode I share some of my ponderings as I do my best to remain KOOL. If you'd like more info about some of the events I've got coming up, check out my website: JodeeBock.com.

S4 Ep 202Getting REAL About Distinctions with Jodee

In today's episode, I share some distinctions I'm becoming acutely aware of in my everyday life, along with an aha I had as I'm doing some pondering this past week. The distinctions are between Interest and Commitment, and also between doing things Solo or doing them Together. My aha had to do with my core desire for connection. Thanks to those who watched live as I was recording! If you're interested in learning more about Chill Out, go to https://chillout2024.eventbrite.com.

S4 Ep 201Getting REAL About Living Your Purpose with Michael Ivanov

Michael is the grandson of a 'Siege of Leningrad' and Dachau camp survivor.
