In The Spotlight: Bruce Broughton Westerns

This is our first new show in two weeks as I desperately needed last week off. But I’m back and this week I decided to featuring another IN THE SPOTLIGHT episode. This is a program that I initially produced in January of 2006. The reason for presenting it again – newly recorded and edited to fit the new WROCK two-hour format – was that a few days ago Erich Kunzel’s recording of the Silverado themes with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra popped up on my iPod while driving home from work. The western genre always reminded me of warm, summer weather and since summer temperatures are finally upon us here in Southern Ontario I decided to present the show you will hear today! So we are skipping the normal format, which will return next week, so you can enjoy two hours of Bruce Broughton western scores, which will include music from SILVERADO, O PIONEERS!, TOMBSTONE, TRUE WOMEN, THE BALLAD OF LUCY WHIPPLE, ROUGHING IT and TEXAS RISING! WROCK: Pilot Episode Part 2

A few months ago, WROCK’s CEO, Gerry Gallagher, emailed me asking if I wanted to provide a film, TV and video game music radio show for his station. I obliged and decided to produce a pilot episode. I sent that show off to Gerry earlier this week, and yesterday afternoon I got confirmation that I will be apart of his station. I couldn’t be more thrilled! So, until the first episode airs on WROCK, I thought I’d give my loyal CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO listeners a sneak peak at the first episode.

Concert Music By Film Composers Part 1

On the program today you are going to hear a three hour plus program dedicated to music written for anything but film, TV and video games by film, TV and video game composers. It is not uncommon place for film composers to cross over and dabble in the concert hall. Many of the greatest Golden Age film composers actually got their start in the concert world – Erich Wolfgang Korngold, for instance, wrote many operas and symphonies years before scoring such films as THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD and THE SEA HAWK. Others like John Williams, James Horner, Miklos Rozsa, Danny Elfman, Cliff Eidelman, Bernard Herrmann – just to name a few – have also written spectacular and challenging music to be enjoyed away from the silver screen. This is actually CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO’s third CONCERT MUSIC BY FILM COMPOSERS program. This is our first since 2006. On the show today you will be hearing classical works by such composers as Andrew Pearce, Christopher Gordon, Lee Hodridge, Robert Folk, Elliot Goldenthal, Jerry Goldsmith, James Seymour Brett and more.

Concert Music By Film Composers Part 2
