It is time for Children's Church. We are picking up where we left off last week: the baptism of Holy Spirit. In today's lesson, your children will learn that Holy Spirit equips them with power so they can be witnesses for Jesus and do His works.

As entrepreneurs, it is very tempting to see a need and start something to fill that need. We have no shortage of money-making ideas or desires to start new ministries to fix various societal ills. However, we need to execute a lot of self-control in this area because great ideas will break our focus and cause us to fail at what God has really called us to do. It may be hard, but we need to say no to every great idea outside of our calling. Take a listen.

Is God punishing me? Have I done something to make God mad? Have I been disobedient to His Word? These are just a few questions we ask ourselves when bad things happen to us. However, these are actually the wrong questions to ask. In today's message, we examine why bad things happen to us, and how we can avoid them and stop them from happening in the first place. We are continuing our look at what happened after the resurrection of Jesus. In today's lesson, we are turning our focus to the baptism of Holy Spirit. Your children will discover that Jesus has sent Holy Spirit to them, and He gives them power.

Various reasons, some out of and others in our control, cause a lack of results in our callings. A reason in our control is our growth. Not physical growth but personal growth. You see, the person you are today has to grow into the person you need to be for tomorrow's success, because the next level of success in your calling requires you to become a new person. When God gives you a calling, He is not putting pressure on you to achieve it all within a certain time frame. He has given you your entire life to fulfill your calling. If you feel pressure, that pressure is coming from Satan, not God. Therefore, don't condemn yourself for not having achieved more by some artificial due date. Our society is obsessed with credibility and credentials. If you are a chef, they want to know what culinary school you went to. If you're a business coach, they want to know what successful business you have personally made a million dollars from. If you say you are starting a ministry, people want to know what theology school you got your ministry degree from. These questions are basically trying to judge or challenge your credibility. However, the only credibility you need is simply these two words: "God said." Listen to today's message and learn more about this concept.

Some Christians believe that seeking and having money will keep you out of the Kingdom of God. They hold this belief, because in the Bible Jesus told a rich, young ruler to sell all he had and give it to poor, and then he could have eternal life. Based on this Bible passage, many have drawn a negative connection between having money and entering the Kingdom of God. So is this true? Well, in today's message, we examine this concept through the Word of God to make a determination.

As we are approaching resurrection Sunday, I want to examine an interesting aspect of Jesus - He was probably really short. Most people envision Jesus as tall, very attractive, and commanding, based on Western standards. However, this was far from the case. The average height of a Jewish man in biblical times was about 5'4". Therefore, Jesus was most likely a short dude by our standards with some researchers putting his height at 5'2". I know that this topic seems to come out of left field, but the Holy Spirit desires us to understand this fact about Jesus, because it will greatly increase our confidence in achieving the calling God has given us. In today's message, you will discover that success from God is not based on human characteristics, perceptions or birth privilege, but based on the anointing.

In our guru culture of coaches and mentors, we are being programmed to follow other people's paths to success. This is tempting to our intellect and emotions because we believe that if somebody has made six or seven figures doing it a certain way, then we'll also be successful if we just follow their way. However, this rarely happens. If you look at the results of the guru's students, they rarely reach the same level of success as the guru. And of course the guru says that if you take action, you will make it just like me. Well, people are taking action, and it is still not working. The reason it is not working is because another person's path to success is not your blueprint from God. And by the way, this also applies to trying to follow the success of someone else's ministry. In life, we experience many problems that come up against us. Some problems come in the form of financial hardship. Others come as sickness, or even some come through a close relationship. However, whatever the type of problem, you can be sure that the problems you're facing are not God trying to test you. This is a critical point to grasp, because if you believe that God is sending you problems, then you're going to lack the faith required to remove them. Take a listen.

According to the Bible, the one thing that opens the door to all evil is the love of money. Now, most people think that this sin can only be committed by people with money. However, this is far from the truth. The love of money can be committed by anyone, believer or nonbeliever, and those involved in entrepreneurial pursuits need to be more careful than others not to fall into the love of money trap. We find ourselves feeling powerless because we don't realize who we are in Christ and that God has given us the power of decision. And with this power comes great responsibility, but it is our power to use. For example, many women in abusive marriages look to pastors and Bible teachers to answer the question, "Should I get a divorce or should I stay?" And many women get answers that they find unsatisfactory in either direction, and they are plunged into a feeling of powerlessness. Or maybe you are in a job that you hate, and you want to quit your job and start a business. But others are telling you to be responsible and not quit. Or perhaps you are called to the ministry, and your church leadership disagrees with you or doesn't notice your ministry call. Yes, seek counsel from a pastor and trusted advisors, but at the end of the day, the decision (right or wrong) in any area of your life is yours to make.

Research shows that two to three million churchgoers leave their church every year. Most leave because of burn out or because they were hurt in someway by their church. With with these statistics in mind, in today's message, I am addressing the reality that so many Christians are contemplating leaving a church.

Everyone has a place in the Body of Christ. However, to know where you fit, you need to understand how the Body of Christ functions. In today's message, I present a parable (analogy) that paints a picture of the Body of Christ to help you see how it works. Take a listen.

Just because you can do it or it looks profitable or seems helpful doesn't mean you should do it. The time God has given you on earth is supposed to be filled with projects commissioned by God. When you involve yourself in unauthorized projects (however good they may be), you will stress yourself out because you will be doing it without God.

The vision that God has given to you requires faith to achieve. However, if you have people in your circle of influence who are casting doubt over your vision, either in words or actions, their unbelief will contaminate your faith. When this happens, your once strong faith becomes ineffective and your vision fails. You need to remove unbelieving people from your circle of influence in order to avoid this scenario, so you can achieve success in your vision and receive all the things for which you are believing in God for. Because we live in a world where people often get sick and sometimes die from those sicknesses, we are conditioned to accept being sick. However, sickness is not something we have to accept; we can choose not to be sick. This is important because sickness not only weekends your body, but your mind as well, which stops the faith you need to succeed in your calling. Christians debate back and forth over tithing. If we are not careful, we can get confused in the barrage of scripture being thrown at each side of the argument. Even though tithing is highly contested, God placed the concept of tithing in the Bible for a reason — not to argue over it but to learn from it. Your way is any way that is planned and implemented without the counsel of God. Most times you have good intentions, because you are walking in God's calling for your life, so it seems like you are in God's will. However, no matter how great your intentions, your way can lead to unnecessary delays and collateral damage to your marriage, friendships, followers, finances, and/or health. Divine healing is not a reward for serving God or living a holy life. Instead, it is a basic benefit of every believer that is designed to be accessed instantly with your faith. However, if we just simply look around, we notice that some people receive divine healing quickly, for others it comes a bit slower, and for many healing doesn't come at all. Why is this the case?
