In today's guru culture, people are flocking to programs, masterminds, and VIP coaching packages, seeking advice on how to be successful in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Seeking advice is a wise thing to do; however, as believers, we have to be careful about the sources of advice. Counsel from unbelievers can be a dangerous business that leads you into a pit of failure.

It is very tempting to look at and admire the successes of others who have a similar calling to yours. However, this can be very dangerous. Why? Because it can cause you to compare where you are at in your calling to someone else's progress, which can make you discontent and derail your calling or, in the worst case, fill you with pride.

The vision God has given you requires many decisions that need to be made for you to accomplish it, from simple decisions like the color of your website to major decisions like where should your business or ministry be located. So, is God directing every single decision you need to make? Not really. It is more like a partnership with God than God being a dictator. He is not micromanaging every decision you need to make in your calling.

In today's Children's Church lesson, we are continuing to study about the full of armor of God. The fourth piece of armor your kids will learn about is the shield of faith. They will discover that the shield of faith stops the attacks of Satan.

In most cases, there is a financial desert between when God gives you the vision and when the vision will make enough money to support itself and your family. In that season, how do you cover the financial lack? Well, one way is to pick up a side project or job that is not part of your vision. You may be thinking that this is a lack of faith, but in many cases this is not true. One of the main reasons our faith is so weak is because we do not understand authority. God has placed various human relationships in our lives to teach us authority; however, Satan and modern culture are fighting hard to create a generation of believers who rebel against authority in all forms. Thus, we are in danger of significantly weakening our faith because we don't understand authority through our rejection of authority. Here's the problem: when you criticize another Christian as they are operating in their calling, you're not really criticizing them, you're criticizing God. At times, it may seem impossible, but God has designed us to control our feelings instead of the other way around. When our feelings are out of control, we become stressed, which leads to constant irritability and long-term depression. On the other hand, controlled feelings lead to sustainable peace and unshakable faith.

This week we have been talking about quitting things that God has not called us to do, so we can succeed at the vision He has called us to accomplish. Quitting is hard because it suggests that we have made a mistake, and that can be hard on our confidence in hearing God. However, here's the reality - no one executes the vision God has given them perfectly. We all make minor and major mistakes that throw our vision off track, which creates a crooked path. However, no matter what mistakes we make — big or small — if we keep our trust in God, he will make our crooked path straight and help us accomplish our vision successfully.

Last week, I talked about not giving up on the vision God has given you. However, there are many times along your entrepreneurial journey where you need to quit certain activities to gain more success. These times occur because you either misheard God, or the seasons for those activities have ended. In those times, you need to quit the details, but not the vision, and allow God to course correct or course update.

This month, we will be looking at what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. To get started, we will be learning about speaking in tongues today. Your children will not only learn about this concept but be given the opportunity to receive this gift.

It may seem like you have been working endlessly to accomplish your vision with little to no success. But whatever God has called you to do, it has a due season for success. Due to worldly and churchly pressures, we are inundated with messages that say making money is bad, from Hollywood to the pulpit. They see the pursuit of profit in business as a necessary evil at best, and at worst they see pursuing profit as taking from society and the poor. There are very few things that the world and the church agree on, and it seems like that they both have deemed pursuing profit as bad. However, this thought process will hold you back from fulfilling what God has called you to do in business. To combat this wrong and destructive thought process, in today's message, learn why pursuing profit is both moral and noble.

It is time for Children's Church. We are picking up where we left off last week: the baptism of Holy Spirit. In today's lesson, your children will learn that Holy Spirit equips them with power so they can be witnesses for Jesus and do His works.

As entrepreneurs, it is very tempting to see a need and start something to fill that need. We have no shortage of money-making ideas or desires to start new ministries to fix various societal ills. However, we need to execute a lot of self-control in this area because great ideas will break our focus and cause us to fail at what God has really called us to do. It may be hard, but we need to say no to every great idea outside of our calling. Take a listen.

Is God punishing me? Have I done something to make God mad? Have I been disobedient to His Word? These are just a few questions we ask ourselves when bad things happen to us. Our society is obsessed with credibility and credentials. If you are a chef, they want to know what culinary school you went to. If you're a business coach, they want to know what successful business you have personally made a million dollars from. If you say you are starting a ministry, people want to know what theology school you got your ministry degree from. These questions are basically trying to judge or challenge your credibility. They hold this belief, because in the Bible Jesus told a rich, young ruler to sell all he had and give it to poor, and then he could have eternal life. As we are approaching resurrection Sunday, I want to examine an interesting aspect of Jesus - He was probably really short. Most people envision Jesus as tall, very attractive, and commanding, based on Western standards. However, this was far from the case. The average height of a Jewish man in biblical times was about 5'4". Therefore, Jesus was most likely a short dude by our standards with some researchers putting his height at 5'2". I know that this topic seems to come out of left field, but the Holy Spirit desires us to understand this fact about Jesus, because it will greatly increase our confidence in achieving the calling God has given us. In today's message, you will discover that success from God is not based on human characteristics, perceptions or birth privilege, but based on the anointing.

This is tempting to our intellect and emotions because we believe that if somebody has made six or seven figures doing it a certain way, then we'll also be successful if we just follow their way. However, this rarely happens. If you look at the results of the guru's students, they rarely reach the same level of success as the guru. And of course the guru says that if you take action, you will make it just like me. Well, people are taking action, and it is still not working. In life, we experience many problems that come up against us. Some problems come in the form of financial hardship. Others come as sickness, or even some come through a close relationship. However, whatever the type of problem, you can be sure that the problems you're facing are not God trying to test you.
