Chelsea FanCast #1088 'The Preview Show'
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at the defeat away to Man Utd and ahead to Sunday's match against Everton. In part one we discuss a shambolic defeat away to Utd which raised question marks about whether the players are good enough and casts doubts on Pochettino's ability to get a tune out of them. But is it more a question of sticking it out and hoping that Nkunku is decent; we get the injured players fit and buy a proper striker. Either way, this is going to take a lot of time and more frustration before the inexperienced team starts delivering consistently. In part two we welcome back Dave Vitty (Comedy Dave) to the 'Opposition View' to discuss Sunday's match from an Everton perspective. What are Dave's thoughts on the PL FFP ruling? Sean Dyche – how’s he doing? With a 10 points deduction this season, is he worried about relegation again? Key players for Everton this season? With Chelsea having lost 9 of their last 14 matches at Goodison Park is he confident of getting a result? And how does he see it going and what is his prediction. In part three we preview Everton v Chelsea. JK summarises today's presser and Chidge reveals his team selection. Is Goodison Park Chelsea’s bogey ground? With Chelsea so inconsistent this season are we as likely to pull out a decent performance as we are to put in another shocker? JK and Martin attempt to name the 25 players who have played for both Everton and Chelsea and we wrap up with our predictions. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Never A Dull Moment’ Chelsea FanCast #1087
Stamford Chidge is joined by Dan Silver and Mark Meehan to look back at Chelsea's 3:2 win over Brighton. In Part one we discuss another mad game where Chelsea cruised to a 2:0 lead before easing off and getting punished and Gallagher being sent off. But instead of capitulating, Chelsea defended well in the second half, extended their lead before giving us all a nervy 10 minutes as Brighton got a second goal. Entertaining, yes, but watching Chelsea at the moment can age you!In part two we discuss an important win where the team showed character, playing for 60 minutes with 10 men. We also discuss where Chelsea are in terms of competing at the moment and is it time to move on from the years of dominance under Roman Abramovich? Hosted on Acast. ‘Brain Fog On the Tyne’ Chelsea FanCast #1085
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at a disappointing 4:1 defeat away to Newcastle on Saturday. We start proceedings with a tribute to former Chelsea player, Terry Venables, who sadly passed away at the age of 80 on Sunday.Atrocious defending and poor discipline cost us up at St. James' Park on Saturday, with three of the goals avoidable and many of the yellow cards. But is Silva past his sell by date or do we have short memories? Did we miss Moises bite in midfield? How much of an impact did the International Break have on a lacklustre and dozy performance? In part two, was Poch's criticism of the players justified and how much should he shoulder the blame? Jackson offered nothing again, how much do we need a new striker in January or do we pray that Nkunku is the bollocks? How much of Chelsea's malaise is down to the players, or Poch or Clearlake for not buying a striker and experienced players? How far off it are Chelsea – Europe? Mid-table? How long to put it right and how? And finally, how secure is Poch? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Is there any reason to make any changes from the draw against City? Will Enzo and Moises suffer from travel fatigue? Should we be confident given Newcastle's injuries and Poch's good record against Newcastle and Howe? Can Chelsea match the intensity we saw v City and be as clinical in front of goal? 'Four Four...F*!?ing Hell!' Chelsea FanCast #1080
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back on a remarkable match against Man City on Sunday. In part one we discuss Chelsea's electric start almost scuppered by Antony Taylor's poor decision for the penalty and great comeback to lead 2:1 before the sucker punch either side of half-time. But Chelsea stuck at it, going toe to toe with City and goal for goal, before Ice Cold Palmer equalised with minutes remaining. Palmer, Sterling, Cucurella, Gallagher and James were outstanding and Sanchez made some great saves. Poch got his subs spot on, with Broja getting the foul that led to the last minute penalty. In part two we reflect on a brilliant week for Chelsea, arguably the best it's been since winning the FIFA Club World Cup in February 2022. It seems we've turned a corner and the team has evolved, showing bravery, confidence, resilience and playing front foot attacking football and breaking free of the turgid tippy tappy sideways borefest of recent years. A real bond seems to be growing between players and manager and indeed the crowd who were the loudest we've heard for years and from all four stands. While there will inevitably be some downs to come, a bright future is emerging. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1079
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dayne Whittle to look ahead to Sunday's match against Man City.In part one we catch up on the latest Chelsea news and ask where will Nkunku fit in with the news that he maybe available for selection for the Newcastle match? In part two we welcome back David Walker from ReadButNeverRed.com for the 'Opposition View'. And what is David's prediction for the game. Lastly David tries to name the 30 City players who have also played for Chelsea in 'They Played for Both'.In part three we preview the Chelsea v City match starting with Chidge's team selection. Surely you can’t drop Jackson after a hat-trick or can you? Having lost our last 5 against City, without scoring a goal, how big an ask is getting a result? Is keeping Haarland quiet the key? City have lost 3 of 6 matches against Poch sides away. We wrap up with our predictions and JK and Dayne see if they can name the 30 Chelsea players who have also played for City in 'They Played for Both'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

'Bonkers' Chelsea FanCast #1078
Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver to look back at a memorable battering of Tottenham Hotspur. In one of the maddest matches we have ever seen, Chelsea recovered from being under the kosh and 1-0 down to see Spurs lose the plot, go down to 9 men, play an inexplicable high line and get thumped 4-1. And to cap it all, Chelsea's hapless striker, Jackson, netted a hat-trick. But it was not all plain sailing, even against 9 men. VAR contrived to disallow 5 goals and none of us who were there had a scooby as to what was going on.But at the end of the day "Tottenham get battered everywhere they go" and that's all that mattered!!! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Badiashile did well – is the Badiashile/Disasi partnership the future? Palmer outstanding again. Jackson's confidence on the floor. And a solid win and Newcastle next are we worried or relishing it? Plus JK gives us the low down on today's Presser. In part two we welcome back Ricky Sacks from The Last Word on Spurs for The Opposition View. We ask Ricky how does it feel to be top of the league? Is he worried about St Totteringham Day? What is it that Ange has brought – mentality, unity, style of play? Given the rivalry and record, does he still fear Chelsea visiting 3-point lane? How will Ange set up and how does he see it going, as well as his score prediction. We ask Ricky to name as many players as he can in 'They Played For Both'.In part three we preview the Spurs v Chelsea match with Chidge’s Team selection. Should Poch set up like he did against Arsenal or will Jackson start up top? Should James to start? And what about Mudryk? Do we do better against better teams who will give us more space? With Sp*rs unbeaten this season and top of the League, how big an ask is a good result? Will our relatively new team get how important a result is against Spurs? We wrap up with our predictions and JK and Tony attempt to beat Ricky in naming players in 'They Played For Both'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Cow. Arse. Banjo’ Chelsea FanCast #1076
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dean Mears to look back at a familiar defeat at home to Brentford and ahead to Wednesday's Carabao Cup match against Blackburn Rovers. In part one and two we look back to Saturday's 0:2 defeat to Brentford. A horrible case of deja vu as Chelsea fail to convert their chances and then being mugged off with a smash and grab. Is it just as simple as not having a top striker? Did we miss Mudryk and Enzo? And is our unbelievably weak bench a result of injuries or a window in to how far we've fallen? In part two we discuss the poor home atmosphere. Is it a reflection of modern football or a disatisfaction with what is being served up on the pitch? And with Chelsea languishing in mid-table, are there hopes we can turn it round and does this depend on buying a striker in January or do we put faith in our injured players returning? In part three we catch up on todays news regarding Chelsea providing free travel to Wolves, facing possible punishment from the Premier League for financial irregularities under Abramovich and the removal of the Chelsea Supporters Club Israel banner. We wrap up with a look ahead to wednesday's match against Blackburn. Chidge's team selection is discussed and the hope that Poch will take it seriously given it's a chance for a trophy. And we challenge JK and Dean to name the players who 'Played for Both'! “A Pain in the Arse” Chelsea FanCast #1073
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at Chelsea's 2:2 draw at home to Arsenal. In part one we discuss the great start made by Chelsea: pressing and tackling and on the attack. Was it a penalty? And what about Sterling and Palmer arguing about who should take it. Was Mudryk's amazing goal a 'cross cum shot' and did Sanchez cost us the game with his error? All in all, in spite of the disappointing result, it was the best performance of the season, a great tactical set up by Poch with the team well drilled in and out of possession. In part two we say the midfield is purring – don’t change it. Palmer is potentially world class and a winner. Cucurella was a revelation and kept Saka in his pocket. Gusto is also looking a great prospect. With Chelsea's best performance for a long time is this a turning point? Does Poch have a selection headache when the injured players return? And we wrap up with an appreciation of Eden Hazard and a look back at the Chelsea FanCast afternoon with Mickey Thomas live at the Troubadour Club. Hosted on Acast. ‘A Sterling Performance’ Chelsea FanCast #1070
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Tony Glover to look back at Chelsea's 4-1 win away to Burnley. In part one finally, we hammer someone; but it didn’t feel like it? Horrible first half – Poch got into them at half time? A bit of luck with the equaliser but we’ve needed that. Sterling was superb in the second half and this is the Sterling we want to see. Cole Palmer gets off the mark – is he what we wanted from Havertz? Pressing is the key and Gallagher is the key to the press. In part two as appreciation of Disasi. Is he underrated and could be a good pairing with Badiashile. It was more Barbados than Burnley on saturday, with fantastic away support again but is a bond between the players and fans growing. 3 wins in 3 = momentum but now frustratingly an International Break with some tough games coming up afterwards. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Thunder Flash’ Chelsea FanCast #1068
Stamford Chidge is joined by Dayne Whittle and Mark Meehan to look back at a welcome win over neighbours Fulham. In part one we discuss a win…away…at last! Broja brought a focal point. and looks a proper striker. Mudryk gets off the mark and offers an out ball. Will scoring do his confidence good? Cole Palmer is a class act, is he potentially the best signing? Conor was superb and is justifying the armband. The midfield looked very solid with Caicedo as the 6 and Conor and Fernandez as 8’s and the defence didn’t give Fulham a sniff. In part two with great performances all round; is this our first eleven? Is it beginning to gel? Have we turned a corner? And what an away end – shows how important the level of support is to the team. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘So Last Season’ Chelsea FanCast #1059
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a horribly familiar defeat to Nottingham Forest. We discuss failing to finish AGAIN - although Chelsea played ok with creative intent, forward momentum, movement which is a change from last season, and Forest defended very well. Sterling was relatively poor and Gusto needs to learn how to cross; Jackson had a poor game but will get better or is he the new Salomon Kalou? We look at Pochettino's selection - he is playing 4 at the back not 3, but is Colwill a left back and is Chilwell a winger? Cole Palmer on his debut and Madueke looked good; Mudryk has a way to go yet; Enzo class and Caicedo improving. In part two we discuss what’s the hate with Silva about? Would Pochettino consider a change in formation and selection – Sanchez: Chilwell, Silva, Disasi, Gusto/James: Enzo, Moises; Sterling, Palmer/Gallagher, Madueke; Jackson? With an average age of squad at 22.5 years the team has no experience at this level and it shows and will take time. With £1bn spent and no striker or creative midfielder and no tried and tested players is it a surprise we still find it hard to score? And we review the Transfer window - why are Clearlake going with youth rather than experience? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘A Rise in the Value of Sterling’ Chelsea FanCast #1056
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver to look back at an encouraging 3-0 win against Luton Town.In part one: Sterling was superb – has he turned a corner? Chelsea are making progress but there's still room for improvement. All the goals were good goals; quick transitions and attacking play; no stodge, but we went flat either side of half time. Jackson gets off the mark – massively important. Enzo shows his class; Caicedo channels his inner Kante. Conor excellent again – let’s hope he doesn’t get sold this week.In part two: Lukaku to Roma; thank fcuk! Squad depth: is it an issue with a bench of youngsters? Petrovic signed; will Poch get another attacker? Cucurella to Utd? Mike Dean is a **** – who knew?In part three we preview Chelsea v AFC Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup. We kick off with Chidge’s Team selections and ask with 9 players out injured, is there no room for much rotation? We take a look at AFC Wimbledon: memories from past matches and reveal who played for both Chelsea and Wimbledon? We wrap up imploring Poch to take it seriously, after all it's a chance for a trophy, and finally give our predictions. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast #1006 'Meet the New Season, same as the Old Season?'
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back on muggy 3-1 defeat away to West Ham.In part one we discuss another poor start, a great goal by Chukwuemeka and a poor penalty from Enzo, which arguably turned the match. Why didn't Jackson take it? And then a comedy of errors from Disasi and Colwill led to an Antonio scorcher which turned it in West Ham's favour. In part two we discuss whether Mudryk is being weighed down by expectations. Sterling gets the plaudits for a decent performance. Jackson impressed again but was out muscled by two giants, on his own and crowded out. Caicedo probably shouldn't have come on and unsurprisingly looked at sea and off the pace - not his fault. Pochettino needs to sort his system out and play the formation that best suits the players he has available. West Ham away was a reality check and it’s going to take time to gel this team.
