‘All’s Well That Chilwell’ Chelsea FanCast #1120
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at the FA Cup quarter final win against Leicester City.In part one, Raheem Sterling discuss! Should Poch have picked him in the first place? Is it a lack of confidence? Is it selfishness. The pen and free kick miss were very, but was it also poor captaincy in letting him take them in the first place? Either way we should never boo a Blue.We say well done to the Super poodle and Ice Cold Palmer, but we should have been 4-0 up at half time and it should have been all over at 2-0 but…We discuss the Disasi honorary Frank Sinclair own goal. Could Sanchez have done anything with the equaliser? He was skittish again - why does Poch pick him when Petrovic is clearly better. In part two we discuss Poch's subs - too late or spot on? Mudryk deserved to stay on; Chuk; Madueke with two superb goals and Chilwell made a difference but how much difference did the red card make? Chelsea showed character to come back and win 4:2 even if they left it late? And with Gusto, Palmer, Jackson, Mudryk, Gallagher, Moises all getting better - are we turning a corner…slowly. Finally we have another FA Cup semi final not to be sniffed at. That's Chelsea 54th semi-final in domestic and european competiton in their history, and they've lost 17 of those, so can we beat City? Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1119
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd look ahead to Sunday's FA Cup quarter final clash against Leicester City.In part one JK gives us his summary of today's press conference. He watches them so we don't have to!In part two we welcome Chris from Leicester Til I Die for The Opposition View. We ask Chris how has life been back in the Championship? How have Leicester dealt with key players being sold? Does it piss him off when Chelsea buy Leicester players such as Chilwell, Kante, Drinkwater & Fofana. Is returning to the PL more important than winning the FA Cup? How will Leicester approach it and what's his score prediction. In part three Chidge & JK preview the match kicking off with Chidge's team selection. We discuss why the FA Cup is massive for Chelsea and our good record in the Cup against Leicester. Will it boil down to who wants it more? We discuss how we think it will go and give our predictions. ‘Magpie Stew’ Chelsea FanCast #1118
Stamford Chidge, Jonathan Kydd & Clayton Beerman look back at Monday night's win against Newcastle United. In part one, it was great to get an early goal with Jackson scoring his 9th of the season. Is there is hope we've found a goalscorer? Talking of which, Palmer is fantastic and scored his 11th of the season. Gusto is growing into a top player and Mudryk scored a wonder goal - maybe there is a footballer there after all? In Cucurella and Sterling we saw the good, the bad and the ugly with Cucurella having a decent game, bar his involvement in both Newcastle goals and Sterling wastful and disinterested - and that's being kind. ? It seems Chelsea are now both scoring and leaking goals. Are we attacking more and leaving the defence open? Is Silva’s wise head is missed? In part two Chelsea were better all night than Toon but left the door open. Poch’s subs worked and it was good to see Chuk back and Casadei looks good. We are still 11th but closing the gap - can we scrape into a European place. They need to stop being consistently inconsistent. Will returning players help? What would be acceptable this season? Top 7 and an FA Cup trophy? And will it be enough to keep Poch in a job? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Caviar and Turds’ Chelsea FanCast #1115
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at another Jekyll and Hyde performance by Chelsea, against Brentford. In part one we discuss Pochettino playing 3 at the back and no Sterling. Was it to protect the space around Enzo and Moises and if they’re knackered, why not play someone else, like Casadei for example? We discuss the two sides of Jackson as he misses a sitter laughably, scores a great goal, and then rounds it off with ego nonsense with the shushing but...he never gives up!! It was a poor second half as Chelsea conceded twice. Is it a lack of concentration? taking the foot off the gas? Poor mentality? The statistics bear out how poor we are in the second half - first half top six; second half relegation zone! But we did claw it back, well done Disasi but we should never have had to against a poor Brentford side. Same old Chelsea this season Jekyll and Hyde...Caviar and Turds. In part two we ask has Poch lost the away support? There were audible chants against Boehly and Poch and for Abramovich and Mourinho. Is Poch a goner - does he have himself to blame - he’s not endeared himself to the fans or made much effort to engage with them? If he was to go would it be the right decision? Would it take us back to square one? He hasn’t lost the dressing room so shoudl he go? And whose fault is it really - Putin? Boris Johnson's Tory Govt? Sunak and Dorries? Boehly and Clearwater? Fundamentally, this all changes if we were winning doesn’t it - a chant for Roman and Jose is a cry for the return to a winning Chelsea. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1114
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at the win against Leeds in the FA Cup and ahead to Brentford v Chelsea on Saturday. In part one we look back at the FA Cup win against Leeds. A great last gasp win and winning against hated rivals is what it’s all about but…was it really a shocking performance? Chelsea are confusing for any fan at the moment - on occasion the most brainless Chelsea team we’ve ever seen with unforced errors, poor touch and passing and conceding criminal goals, but capable of the three great goals they scored. Mudryk at 10 was interesting to see; Sterling on the other hand looks like he doesn't want to be there. Thankfully Conor Gallagher came to the rescue in the last few minutes with a cracking goal to send Chelsea to the quarter finals against Leicester. In part two, we welcome back Greville Waterman, Brentford author, for The Opposition View. We ask Greville where has it all gone wrong for Brentford this season - 13 defeats in the last 17 matches - is it simply injuries? With Brentford 5 points from the relegation zone is there pressure on Frank? Brentford unbeaten in last 4 v Chelsea and have kept clean sheet in last 3 - do they have a hoodoo against us? What difference does Toney make - is he off in the summer - where to? How will the match go and what is Greville's prediction. In part three we preview Brentford v Chelsea with JK's presser summary and Chidge’s team selection. Is it time to give one of Enzo, Moises and Conor a rest? What do we do about Sterling? Our poor recent record v Brentford needs to change, and they have their 1st choice back 5 out and awful recent form so surely Chelsea can put a decent win and performance together? We wrap up discussing how the match will go and what is our prediction. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Playing The Penalty’ Chelsea FanCast #1113
Stamford Chidge, Jonathan Kydd & Dean Mears look back at a miserable Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool. In part one we discuss massive frustration and massive disappointment as Chelsea have now lost 6 of their last 6 Wembley finals – a horrid record, but it pre-dates Clearlake. A nervy start didn’t help and too many players making basic errors. Was Sterling’s goal offiside? Should Van Dijk’s goal have been disallowed? But Chelsea had more than enough chances to win it. Was it a case of poor finishing or good goalkeeping? Chelsea were the better side in the second half but what happened in Extra Time? Was it the subs? The players settling for pens or a lack of belief? In part two we ask how much of this is on Poch and how much on the players? Will Poch win us a trophy? Does Poch have a future at Chelsea? Was it really a horrible atmosphere? And we discuss the fallacious Scouse Youth argument and Liverpool love in and Gary Neville’s Blue Bottle Jobs remark. And whilst it was a good day out, with no expectationa, is that really enough? In part three we preview Chelsea v Leeds in wednesday's FA Cup match. We kick off with JK’s Presser Summary and Chidge’s team selection. But it's Dirty Leeds, History. The atmosphere will be febrile. The Bamford factor, Georginio and Piroe are decent and Leeds recent form is decent.Strangely the last FA Cup match between the two sides was the infamous 1970 FA Cup final. If we lose our season is over. Can they pick themselves up? We wrap up by discussing how’s it going to go and our predictions. And finally another round of 'They Played for Both'.Don't forget to sign up to our EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/chelseafancast Try it risk-free Hosted on Acast. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Alex Churchill to catch up on the Chelsea news and look ahead to Sunday's Carabao Cup Final against Liverpool. In part one we disuss Liam Twomey's article in The Athletic which asks the question "Can Chelsea afford to win the Carabao Cup?" and JK gives us his summary of today's Presser. In part two we preview Sunday's Carabao Cup Final against Liverpool kicking off with Chidge's team selection. We discuss if this final will be déjà vu from the 2005 Carling Cup Final? Will Chelsea be repeating History, not Wallowing in it? How important would winning it be? Our luck has to change having lost 6 out of our last 7 Wembley finals. We also discuss the Liverpool Love in; can Poch shake the loser mentality? Who are the bigger underdogs? ‘Little by Little’ Chelsea FanCast #1110
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at a great Chelsea performance against Man City.In part one we applaud a great Chelsea performance, redolent of Chelsea v Barcelona from days gone by; tactically disciplined, counter attacking brilliantly and defending like demons. Did this young team come of age on Saturday? Massive shout outs to the defence - Disasi a rock; Colwill assured; Gusto superb; Chilly back to his best; should this be the defence going forward? Can or should Gusto keep James out when he's fit? The midfield were superb; Moises was tenacious and did well not to get a 2nd yellow; Enzo was here, there and every fucking where; Gallagher was imperious and snuffed out Rodri. In attack Palmer was ice cold as per; fair play to Sterling with a great goal and Jackson with a great assist and good work all match. In part two we ask are we better as a counterattack team, getting the ball forward quickly, mixed with long balls makes us more threatening but it doesn’t work against low block teams? But we still struggle to finish and need a striker. Nkunku was poor when he came on, struggling to adjust to the pace of the game, perhaps not match sharp but he didn’t help with the defence. Chelsea fought like a team and it looks like a bond and understanding is growing. The fight and spirit was good to see and is something to build on. But did Poch do the right thing - should we have gone for the win? 5 at the back made sense as City were getting round the back. Jackson and Palmer on yellow cards was perhaps an issue, but was it negative or sensible? When all is said and done, Poch got the tactics and selection right while Pep is salty and still bald. Does this performance give us hope if not expectation against Liverpool next weekend? Most thought we’d get hammered v City so this performance should give us confidence. We ask David what he thought of the 4:4 in November? Is he surprised by how well Palmer has done and does he have any regrets? With Haaland & De Bruyne back is it full steam ahead for a treble? Is he worried about FFP infractions, points deduction, relegations? Are there any weaknesses Chelsea can exploit? And how does he see the match going? In part three we preview Man City v Chelsea. We kick off with JK’s Presser Summary - JK watches the presser so we don't have to! Chidge gives his team selection. Will Sanchez return? Wil Sterling start? Will Poch stick with 4:2:3:1? Will Casadei get some minutes? Will the real Chelsea stand up ir are we still a Jeckyll & Hyde side? Will Chelsea be brave – should they be? Should the 4:4 give us hope? The recent stats are very much against us. We discuss how we see it going and wrap up with 'They Played for Both'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

'Three Little Birds' Chelsea FanCast #1108
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman to look back at a great turnaround away to Crystal Palace on Monday night. In part one, we discuss a horrible first half, but was it all down to Silva starting? With Enzo all over the place, Caicedo hapless, Madueke consistently inconsistent and only Gusto showing up, Chelsea found themselves 1-0 down at half-time. Thanks to Palace playing Bob Marley's 'Three Little Birds' while waiting for referee Michael Oliver to come out after the break, Chelsea supporters gave a full throated rendition of it for much of the second half - reminiscent perhaps of Chelsea v Napoli back in 2012. But did this give the players the lift they needed? Conor Gallagher scored two great goals at the beginning and end of the second half and Enzo's goal was the cream on top of the cake in a 3-1 win. A shout out to Petrovic too for some great saves that kept Chelsea in it but perhaps the biggest shout out should go to the away fans, for some great vocal support epitomised by Disasi leaping in to the Chelsea away section and getting mobbed. Shame JK got trampled under foot in the process! In part two we welcome back old friends Ceri Levy and Garry Hayes, from the Blueprint podcast to talk about the forthcoming release of more epsiodes of their superb series on Chelsea, including the full interviewswith Glenn Hoddle, Colin Hutchinson, Roberto Di Matteo, John Terry and Joe Cole. The series is part of a new platform called The Sideline, bringing fans, players and journalists together. Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1107
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at a much needed win and performance to knock Aston Villa out of the FA Cup and look ahead to Monday night's match against Crystal Palace. In part one we look back at a great night at Villa Park. Was it the best performance of the season and where did that come from? It was like Chelsea from the past: intensity, strong, aggressive, desire, team effort, compact and tactically superb. Much credit should go to under pressure Pochettino. Disasi and Gusto were superb and Enzo and Moises ran the match. And the away support was fantastic. But is it a coincidence that we played better without the dropped Sterling and Silva? Chelsea played higher up the pitch; the defence, midfield and attack were closer together which made the defence less exposed and the passing forward quicker and easier and without Sterling we looked more direct without running in to blind alleys, falling over or giving the ball away. Bring on Dirty Leeds, but we need consistency now!In part two we welcome back Hambo from Back of the Nest for the Opposition View. We ask him on a scale of 1-10 how angry are Palace fans at the moment? Is it all Hodgsons fault? What’s his experience of the American owners? What are his thoughts on Conor Gallagher? How big a miss will Marc Guéhi, Michael Olise & Eberechi Eze be, all out injured? While recent history is on Chelsea’s side, given our inconsistency does he fancy Palace's chances and how does he see it going and what's his prediction? In part three we preview Crystal Palace v Chelsea kicking off with JK’s summary of today's Presser, followed by Chidge’s team selection. With Chelsea being consistently inconsistent how can we get the consistency we need? While Chelsea have a nasty habit this season of following up a good result with a poor one, we do have history on our side with this fixture and Palace have lost Guehi, Eze and Olise which will be a big problem for them.We wrap up with how we see it going and our predictions, and another round of 'They Played For Both'Don't forget to sign up to our EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/chelseafancast Try it risk-free Hosted on Acast. ‘Little Pigs 2 Wolves 4’ Chelsea FanCast #1106
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at a shambolic defeat at home to Wolves and ahead to Wednesday night's FA Cup replay away to Aston Villa. In part one, another great day out ruined by the football. Caice-doh evens the score. No fight; no intelligence; no identity; no style; no clue; no hope - it really is this bad isn’t it? Will they sack Pochettino? Would he deserve it? Jose not the answer. What’s going on behind the scenes? Winstanley & Stewart need to go, but the finger of blame points to Begdhad Egbahli – how do we hold him to account? In part two we welcome back Justin Hawthorne from Up the Villa for the Opposition View. How confident is Justin after the 5-0 win at Sheffield? It was much closer at the Bridge than we all predicted; we couldn’t score of course, but thought Villa were too cautious until we tired. Chelsea have been terrible since – what’s Justin's thoughts? History is on Chelsea’s side but...Justin tells us how he thinks it will go and gives us his prediction. In part three Chidge gives us his team selection and he has a plan! How do we bounce back from last week – can we? Chelsea have terrible away form and Villa are virtually impregnable at Villa Park and it does not bode well. Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1105
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman to look back at an infuriating defeat away to Liverpool and ahead to a chance to redeem themselves against Wolves on Sunday. In part one we look back at the horrible defeat to Liverpool in midweek. How crucial was the denial of two stone cold penalties to the outcome of the match? That said we were basically awful - outclassed, out thought and out fought and didn’t compete for more than about 15 minutes. The only bright spots were Petrovic again and Nkunku’s goal.We are so far off it. The recruitment, ownership and players are simply not good enough but Poch is also culpable, but if we get rid of Poch who would we get now? So far has the club fallen, under Clearlake, from the standards at Chelsea we are accustomed to, most probably average English young managers or unknown European managers but no one of the elite level we are used to. In part two we look ahead to Sunday's match against Wolves kicking off with JK's summary of the presser and Chidge's team selection. But with Broja sent out on loan to Fulham who do we play up front and is it a good decision to reduce our striking options even further? With Wolves 2 points behind us in 11th, this IS a mid table clash, but we are only 6 points off 6th place - can we begin to make up ground on Brighton, Newcastle, Man Utd and West Ham? After all they are as flakey as Chelsea.Wolves are in good form but not in London or away from home; Chelsea hava a great track record against Wolves and are unbeaten at home since 1979. As ever it will no doubt depend on which Chelsea turns up? Will we get it right tactically? Will we be up for it? We wrap up the show with how we see it going and our predictions and another round of 'They Played for Both'.Don't forget to sign up to our EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/chelseafancast Try it risk-free Hosted on Acast. ‘It’s Progress Jim, But Not as We Know It!’ Chelsea FanCast #1104
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall to look back at the 0-0 draw against Aston Villa and ahead to Wednesday night's match against Liverpool. In part one we look back at the 0-0 draw in the FA Cup against Aston Villa. The injury curse strikes again as Colwill withdraws but his replacement Gilchrist did well. Chelsea were dominant in the first half but, wash, rinse, repeat - can’t score, although Martinez is a top keeper and kept them in it. Chelsea were on the front foot, pressing and were up for it and the atmosphere was rocking as a result. In the second half we tired, and Petrovic kept us in it.We ask was the Ref Taylor in disguise? And discuss Mudryk and Broja being truly hopeless; it was like playing with 9 men when they came on. But it was a very good performance, especially the pressing, just a frustrating result. We potentially have Leeds at home next if we can beat Villa in the replay – but can we?In part two we preview the Liverpool v Chelsea match on Wednesday night, kicking off with Chidge's team selection. Will Colwill be fit? Will Chilwell start? Are Mudryk and Broja unpickable at the moment? Will it make a difference with Kopp announcing he's leaving at the end of the season? No Salah – will it make a difference? How do we see it going plus our predictions. And finally another round of 'They Played for Both'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1103
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Tony Glover to look back at the thrashing of Middlesbrough taking Chelsea to another Wembley final and ahead to Friday night's visit of Aston Villa in the FA Cup to hopefully set us on the patch to another Wembley final! In part one we applaud Chelsea's clinical finishing, in our biggest ever semifinal win. Palmer was outstanding and Chilwell is a class above. Well done too to Colwill and Disasi and while Sterling is frustrating he had a good game in reality. However, patience with Mudryk appears to be growing thin judging by the berating he got from Enzo and Chilwell and Broja continues to play with angst. But Chelsea reach their 18th Wembley final since 2000 which considering everything that’s going this season is huge.In part two we welcome back Justin Hawthorne from Up The Villa for the Opposition View. We talk to Justin about the secret of Emery’s success this season? Which players have impressed? What’s more important – a trophy or a top 4 finish? Can Villa win the league? And with Villa having had 12 days off, and Chelsea having played on Tuesday is it advantage Villa or Chelsea? With the league game in September being tight and Villa playing it cagey, can we expect more of the same on Friday night? Justin gives us his prediction. In part three we preview Chelsea v Aston Villa starting with JK's Presser Summary and Chidge's team selection. Will Chilwell start? Who drops out if Gallagher comes in? Can we be as clinical as Tuesday? We might not get many chances as Villa don’t concede many. We wrap up discussing how do we see it going & give our predictions before another round of 'They Played for Both!'. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dan Silver and Mark Meehan to look ahead to Tuesday night's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough,In part one, Mark reports back from the Chelsea Pitch Owners AGM, held on Friday and discusses what was said and where next in a very important time for the Club and CPO with a stadium redevelopment or move in the offing. In part two we welcome back Dylan Polk from Carefree Louisiana to talk about their forthcoming annual 'Bluesday' event in New Orleans, centred around the Chelsea v Wolves match, his view on this season and a view on the American ownership from the US supporter's perspective. In part three we preview the Chelsea v Middlesbrough match starting with JK's summary of today's presser and Chidge's team selection. Will Boro target Colwill again – should Chilly start? What do we do up front given we need to win by 2 goals? Will Chelsea rise to the occasion like they did v Newcastle with a Wembley final and an incredible home record v Middlesbrough to uphold? It's genuinely massive tomorrow and kicks off a big 10 days for Chelsea with Boro in the Carabao Cup; Villa in the FA Cup and Liverpool in the Premier League. Will we find our way in to another Cup final and closer to another one or dip out of both in a week like we did 30 years ago? We wrap up with how we see the match going and our predictions. And on a sad final note, mark the passing of Tommy Baldwin, one of the King's of the Kings Road team of the late 1960's and early 1970's. Tommy was well loved by Chelsea supporters, was affectionately known as 'The Sponge' and was lauded with a brilliant song. Let's hope the Pearly Gates serenade him with a fine rendition of "His name is Tommy Baldwin, he's the leader of the team...". Farewell Tommy, thanks for the memories and Rest in Peace. ‘Stressful!’ Chelsea FanCast #1099
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Marco Worrall, Chelsea author and Gate 17 publisher to look back at Chelsea's 1-0 win over Fulham. In part one we discuss Chelsea's laborious first half AGAIN with too many touches and often poor ones; too slow in the build up and of course no idea how to hit the back of the net. Until referee Anthony Taylor shocked the entire world by awarding Chelsea a penalty at the end of the half, which Cole Palmer put away for his 9th goal of the season. The second half was much better with more energy, pressing and more direct with both Sterling and Gallagher hitting the post. But Chelsea couldn’t kill the game off and the last 10 minutes was a shambles, aided and abetted by Taylor and Keystone Kops defending, with stupid free kicks given away, running into defenders and wrong passes. At least we cheered the hoofs up field as Chelsea eventually saw the game out, but it was stressful! In part two we praise Petrovic who was quietly impressive again. Should he be Chelsea's No.1 keeper? Enzo was more dynamic and Caicedo did good terrier like work. Colwill had a decent game albeit not suited to the left back role. Just as well Chilwell came on with 23 minutes to go, but replacing Sterling as winger not Colwill at left back! A win is a win albeit a marginally ugly one but are there genuinely signs of encouragement and improvement? The stats don’t lie. And what was Frank Lampard sitting next to Todd Boehly all about? ; Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1098
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Clayton Beerman to look back at a miserable night in Middlesbrough and ahead to Saturday's match against Fulham. In part one we look back at the shocking 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. It was all so predictable - concede first and can’t break a side down. Defensive errors are still rife. Injuries yes, inexperience yes but no excuse for a lack of desire, football intelligence and execution. It’s only half-time – 1-0 down and should be retrievable but…is Pochettino’s position really in jeopardy? In part two we welcome back Dom Betts from The Fulhamish Podcast to 'The Opposition View'. We discuss Fulham’s season so far , has it been a bit up and down? How have they coped without Mitrovic? How is Willian doing? Can you get to the Carabao final and what would he think of a Chelsea v Fulham final? And we ask Dom how he sees it going on Saturday and what is his prediction? In part three JK reports back on todays the presser and Chidge reveals his team selection. Chelsea's home form is good and Fulham's away form is poor. Chelsea have not lost to Fulham at home in the league since 1979 but we have a poor recent record in London Derbies winless in 11 out of the last 15 matches. If we win, we could go above Man U, Newcastle and Brighton into 7th, so there is much to play for but how tough will it be against a Fulham who are now clicking under Silva? We discuss how we see it going and give our predictions and wrap up with 'They Played for Both' Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Preston North Ended!’ Chelsea FanCast #1097
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Dean Mears to look back at Chelsea's 4-0 win in the FA Cup against Preston North End and ahead to Tuesday's Carabao Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough. In part one we discuss Chelsea's poor first half against Preston North End. Were Chelsea complacent, taking Preston lightly? Preston did a good job with 3 at the back and 5 out of possession and kept Chelsea going side to side and at arm’s length. And why do players such as Moises, Sterling and Enzo not impose themselves on the game or take it by the scruff of the neck?In part two Poch gave a much needed and effective half-time hairdryer to the players. As a consequence, Chelsea pushed Preston back, Palmer played higher up the pitch and they were more aggressive with more intent. Broja scored a proper strikers goal and his confidence appeared to come back, as did Chelsea's while Preston's dissipated. Goals from Silva, Sterling and Emzo put the game to bed. All in all it was a poor first half and an excellent second. Chelsea dispatched a determined championship side without too much fuss; kept the winning streak going; gave minutes to Gilchrist, Washington and Golding and are into the next round. Job done.In part three we preview the Carabao Cup semi-final on Tuesday away to Middlesbrough for the first leg. We start with JK's summary of Poch's presser and Chidge reveals his team selection.Boro look like similar opposition to Preston and have had an easy ride to the semi final and have poor recent form, but there is history in this fixture and they will be bang up for it. We recall the play off matches from 1988, the FA and League Cup victories of 1997 and 1998, Rafa Benitez meltdown after the 2013 FA Cup win and Bruce Buck's comments winding up Boro before the cup match of 2022.We discuss that it would be nice to hump Boro and make the second leg a formality but…suspect it might be tighter than it should be. Also the opportunity for Poch to get the ‘not won a trophy in England’ off his back woould be great for him and the team's development. We wrap up with our predictions and 'They Played For Both'. Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1096
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look ahead to Saturday's FA Cup 3rd round tie against Preston North End,In part one JK gives his summary of today's presser. We also discuss why are there so many injuries in the game currently and why is the ‘Magic of the Cup’ important? In part two we preview the Chelsea v Preston North End match starting with Chidge's team selection. Will there be big changes or not? As founders of the football league, Preston North End have a rich history having won the double in the inaugral season and the title again the next season. They've been starved of success since the late 1960's but with former players including Sir Tom Finney can boast a fine pedigree. They’ll be bringing 6,000 and will be up for it. Manager Ryan Lowe wants them to enjoy the day out, but they'll no doubt be looking for a cup upset. But they've been in middling form in the Championship, have been poor away and Cup form in recent years has not been impressive. With no european football this season, Cup competitions are increasingly important for Chelsea and Pochettino and Chelsea's FA Cup record over the last 30 years is unmatched, although 4 Cup final defeats in the last 5 might tell a different story. We wrap up with our match predictions and JK and Mark try to name the 11 players who played for both Chelsea and Preston North End in 'They Played for Both' Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

‘Mad Hatters!’ Chelsea FanCast #1095
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Tony Glover to look back at a mad match against the Hatters last Saturday. In part one we ask did Poch get the line upright as Chelsea made a eally good start but a terrible finish. For once goals were not the problem - Palmer is different class and a great finish from Madueke with a great build up too. Jackson divided opinion but got kicked a lot, played some good balls through tracked back and defended well too. He looks better out wide than up front. Broja on the other hand…In part two we look at the second half where Chelsea went all Dracula, with Chong and Doughty outstanding as Luton could have scored 4 or 5. Silva was the reason they didn’t. He’s still a cut above but does he need better than Disasi or Badiashile next to him. Perhaps Colwill when Chilwell returns?Petrovic was superb again making some good saves and kicking long; a great tactical move to negate Luton which worked until Luton went wide. But did Poch get it wrong with his subs and game management? Is there a hint of Spursyness about how we let teams back in?However, we won which is what it’s about and was much needed. Chelsea are not far off European places, the season is not over yet with injured players to return and other teams have poor form and injuries (Utd and Newcastle). Will Chelsea improve and gel more in 2024?In part three we say thank fuck 2023 is over, recall the best and worst moments and ask how bad was it? We wrap up looking ahead to what 2024 might bring for Chelsea. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Chelsea FanCast Preview Show #1094
Stamford Chidge and Jonathan Kydd are joined by Martin Wickham to look back at the win against Palace, the defeat to Wolves and ahead to Saturday's match against Luton. In part one we look back at Wednesday night's win against Palace. We ask is it all about the win? Gusto was superb; Gallagher great; Nkunku class; Mudryk improving; Madueke, Lavia and Gilchrist had good cameos – does this offer a glimmer of hope? And is it time to cut Jackson some slack? We discuss our defensive concerns and whether Chelsea are a talented bunch of individuals but not a team, all while our home form is improving. In part two we look back at the defeat to Wolves: a case of same shit different day – the better team but hopeless up front. We discuss Sterling’s criminal miss, Nkunku’s debut, the team's poor discipline and Chelsea's dreadful away form.In part three we look ahead to Saturday's match against Luton. JK reports on Pochettino's press conference and Chidge reveals his team selection. Luton will be a tough nut to crack away and Ross Barkley will have something to prove against his old team. With our poor away form will Chelsea achieve another unwelcome record? We discuss how will it go and give our predictions and wrap up with 'They Played for Both'. Hosted on Acast. Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Meehan to look back at the Carabao Cup quarter final against Newcastle and ahead to the Christmas Eve match against Wolves. In part one we discuss a potentially massive night at the Bridge last Tuesday where Chelsea beat Newcastle on penalties to go through to the Carabao Cup semi-final. In the process we saw a team bond with each other and the supporters as the stadium was literally bouncing with delight. In addition we discuss the great penalties & penalty save! Mudryk, the enigma wrapped around an enigma. Playing full backs works, please try it again! Gallagher – the glue that binds it together? And ask is it early days for Nkunku? In part two we look ahead to the Wolves match on Sunday. We have JK’s review of the Presser and pick up on the news that the ESL rears its ugly head again and what is the Chelsea Supporters' Trust planning on Sunday with their Christmas Eve football can #GetStuffed message? In Chidge’s team selection we ponder whether Poch will pick proper full backs? Will Nkunku to start? Is Enzo out? Will we play in a 4:2:3:1 formation? We look at Chelsea and Wolves form and ask if Chelsea go in to this match with momentum and can they go on a winning run? ‘Palpable Relief’ Chelsea FanCast #1092
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd are joined by Mark Worrall to look back at Saturday's victory over Sheffield Utd and ahead to Tuesday night's match against Newcastle Utd.In part one we discuss the win over Sheffield Utd where the 1st half looked like déjà vu – low block, possession, and no goal threat but Poch’s 2nd half tactical change paid dividends. Palmer, Gallagher & Moises were the stand out performances and Jackson scored his 7th goal of the season but...And while back to back wins in the league for the first time in over a year brought palpable relief, was the poor atmosphere a sign of the times or to do with something else? In part two we preview the Carabao Cup quarter final against Newcastle Utd. JK sums up todays presser and Chidge reveals his team selection. Newcastle have lots of injuries, but it didn’t make any difference last time we played them. Can we make home advantage count? 'FUBAR' Chelsea FanCast #1089
Stamford Chidge & Jonathan Kydd reflect on a disappointing defeat away to Everton. In part one although Chelsea did alright, better than Utd and Newcastle with plenty of possession and attacks and shots on goal they didn’t really look like scoring and looked typically vulnerable in defence. The folly of not having a decent striker is exposed again. Is there a lack of quality in the side? Did Everton, a gnarly experienced, streetwise PL side just want it more? And to add injury to insult, James goes off again in what is becoming a tragedy. What's his future at the club?In part two, with 10 wins in the last 45 are we concerned by what is relegation form? The mood seems to be changing regarding Chelsea's recruitment team and the owners, so what happens next? Pochettino alludes to going to the transfer market to solve the problems – is this realistic?
