It's the Live Show with Catholic Stuff You Should Know!
We are joined by the fine priests of Catholic Stuff You Should Know. And Gomer and Fr. John have it out! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! Also, pray for priests who are discarded by the workaholism and isolation of this modern twisted culture. And thank God for priests willing to fight for not just holiness, but their own health, virtue, and community.

Meet us at SEEK at Indy's best dive bar!
EGomer and Luke talk DIVE BARS because we are going to do our first MEET UP of 2019 after tonight's SEEK Conference lineup at Dugout Bar, Indianapolis's best dive bar. It's one mile from the conference. Also, Gomer shares too much Limp Bizkit stories and Luke prepares everyone for our non-involvement in the actual conference. Special Guests: Father Mike Schmitz, Leah Darrow, and Matt Fradd.

Luke Stops Vomiting, a Christmas Miracle!
Topics to Discuss### Christmas Stuff -left all my stuff at home that I would normally use, but everyone cleared out of the room -shoe-horning this episode FOR THE FANS! -Christmas presents: Luke got scarves, Gomer got the Word on Fire classics Aquaman (critical, but not really spoilers) -GI Joe, but underwater, and not good -recognized Ocean Master only when he put his silly Bible Man mask on -senseless action sequences that went on for far too long -Hero’s journey story that is weaker than weak -No chemistry between the leads -made aqua man cool, but cannot save the DC universe like Wonder Woman almost did -Some visuals were really awesome, CGI is this movie, like the prequels Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse -great visuals, but we sat too close that at times it actually hurt to watch -great characters that, even in the silliness, made sense within the movie -Miles Morales is not a copycat spider-man, but has his own powers that stand him out -Puberty is difficult New Years’ Themes Gomer: Year of New Things Luke: Year of Maturity

Gomer open the history books
EMERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! Gomer apologizes for your favorite host being sick, but the show must go on. Also, Judaism.

The Adventures of Nat Radd
ESEEK2019. Cultural Appropriation. Luke's crush from 3rd grade to Freshmen year in college. Marvel's "ENDGAME" trailer (watch it). And more!

Make Waves or Leave the Diocese!
EFollow-up: Two great listeners challenge Gomer's previous assertion that Fr. James Martin is corrupting the faith by falsely accommodating the moral teachings of the Church to win LGBT+ souls for Christ. They assert that he isn't respecting 'gradualism' for the sake of the 'heroic ideal.' Gomer asserts that's Lutheran, not Catholic. Luke vents about the National Dialogue on Young Adult ministries, and how much he hates this stuff. Surveys?! How dare you? Gomer asks Luke then how do you know what people are saying and thinking about this stuff unless you ask, survey, etc.? Luke: "It reaks of 'we have nothing else to do'." If you haven't read through "Rejoice and Be Glad" by Pope Francis, you are truly missing out. Amidst the loud noises of McCarrick-Vigano, etc., we still need to realize that Pope Francis has got some really, really good stuff. Gaudete et Exsultate is some good stuff.

Abigail Punches 'Purity Culture' in the Face. THE FACE!
EWe talk to Abigail Rine Favale, who directs and teaches in the William Penn Honors Program, a great books program at George Fox University. She is the author of 'Into the Deep: An Unlikely Catholic Conversion.' We discuss her conversion, evangelical purity culture, the book I Kissed Dating Goodbye, Consent and 3 Paradigms, Transgenderism and Feminism, Waves of Feminism and her work at George Fox. Thank you CURO Catholic Healthcare for sponsoring this show!Special Guest: Abigail Rine Favale.

Are the USCCB the White Walkers?
We talk Vatican Interventions in the USCCB, Taylor Marshall being a douche, what makes a good podcast in our opinion, and WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST?!

Perverting the Gospel out of Sympathy or just not being a D...
EGomer's essay on authentic accompaniment vs a false missionary zeal, or "accommodation." Gomer and Luke trade sympathetic barbs at one another.

Putting on Ayres in Evangelization
EGomer and Luke interview Fr. Harrison Ayre from Canada to talk evangelization, especially if it is 'too Protestant' in those Missionary Discipleship circles. We talk things like parish renewal, the emphasis on commitment vs. sacraments, how they do/don't complement one another, and Church of the Nativity gets put on blast yet again.

Gomer gets Luke'd, Luke gets Aquinas'd
EHey friends. We got F bombs in this one. Not safe for carline.

Six Topics, All Awkward
EWe talk about A LOT of things. The main event is the recent article by Jenn Morson on how the University has handled Title 9 claims, and once again Gomer talks about "it's all about the culture" with these things. Also, we do FOLLOW UP from our Christopher West episode and take some Patreon supporters questions.

Christopher West Testifies
Christopher West, the American apostle of St. JP2's Theology of the Body, hops on our show for some sexual healing. We talk the nuptial meaning of the body, tree sex, and Gomer making jokes like he's still in 8th grade.

Episode 161: Gomer Yells at Luke about Anti-Culture
ELuke introduces "Fat Shaming" and the Science of being overweight. Luke then talks about a Von Balthasar quote on meaning in his book, "Prayer". Gomer carries out the main topic of "anti-culture" what it is and what it's doing to us.

Prison Mike with the Golden Voice
We interview Mike Savage, author of "A Prisoner's Perspective" and this dude is FASCINATING and has a voice of GOLD. Also, Gomer shames himself talking about "going in your celly" instead of "cell". Wait for it.

Luke Gets Catholicly Creative
On this episode we recount Luke's travels to the CATHOLIC CREATIVES SUMMIT in Dallas, Texas, do a brief interview with Michael and Tony from Project YM and Catholic Beard Balm Co, talk about the heart of 'thick community', and Gomer smashes the Scandal yet again.

Luke welcomes us to Miami
EThe second half of last week's episode! We dive into the two Chicago priests arrested in Miami as a sign of the actively gay subcultures and enclaves present in the Church. Then I play a statement from my parish's town hall meeting that will break your heart. Finally, no gay witch hunt, please! (It was after this that Gomer heard Fr. James Martin's demand to stop the gay witch hunt, which there isn't any actual gay witch hunt, just a lot of blogospher talking. Anna and Shannon are amazing and wrote a great piece about scapegoating all those with same-sex desires.

Listener Questions and The Summer of Scandal!
EJust Luke and Gomer today, folks. We take a break from THE SUMMER OF SCANDAL in order to answer a ton of questions. We recorded for about 3 hours straight, so this is only a portion of those questions answered. Oh yes, tangents were rampant.

Katie Prejean is a jagweed
ESHOW NOTES We walk through a bit of the scandals. Much of the links in our show notes touch on the topics covered. Just remember, there is no cake... THEN WE TALK FASHION!

Bradley Barnes cheers us up?
ESHOW NOTES We introduce to you Bradley Barnes, a handsome convert from Pentecostalism (8 years ago) who works as a Catholic Youth Minister in Cincinnati. We have no idea how or why we found just a random youth minister in Cincinnati. Neither of us have any connections to Cincinnati. Amiright? We start talking youth ministry, but then we talk about the scandal because we all work for the Church and that's all we know what to talk about. There was a lot more constructive conversation about bishops and priests and the role community amongst clergy, especially bishops, should have. We also talk about the idea of the "Imperial Episcopacy" (Article in the links below) and the damage it does from bishops to themselves and to their fellow priests. Here's a quote: "Grotesque unchastity is an obvious symptom, but perhaps even more dangerous to the priesthood is the habit of mendacity that hides unchastity and other sinful habits. Superficial flattery and fawning over the person of the bishop can deprive him—unless he has an uncommonly strong and healthy personality—of the evangelical simplicity and candor he needs to fulfill his duties. While deference to the bishop may begin with true reverence for his office, it too often leads to the growth of vanity, ambition, and clerical careerism. And so it is time to end the Imperial Episcopate. "

Gomer runs from his feelings, and kids
We tackle your toughest questions!

Luke should get off Twitter
EWe talk about The Catholic Card Game with Catching Foxes Expansion Pack, our feedback on Immigration, and why Luke should get off Twitter forever. SHOW NOTES

Not you, too!
EThis was recorded two weeks ago, immediately after our immigration episode. This is not the follow up to that episode, but a stand alone podcast on Chris Hardwick's ruination.

Immigrant Children
EShow Notes and Links We recorded the day Trump signed an executive order against breaking up families, so we really didn't have time to process the ramifications. Let me make it clear, we are 100% against the punitive separation of children from their families. We are also 100% for the comprehensive immigration reform and greater work visas for immigrant labor. (Gomer is for the legalization of literally all drugs, so that will strip the cartels of most of their power, but we don't talk about that!) What we are not for is the hype wagon of the left wing media and anti-Trumpkins out there. Nor are we interested in the Sessions-style biblical apologetics of the Trumpkin defenders. We are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-child. Some of these parents are sketchy. Some of these kids are being trafficked (a lot more than you think) and need to be saved. Some are criminals, some are forced into criminal behavior. GOMER'S IGNORANCE Gomer here: "I will claim more ignorance of the elevation of abuse under Trump's administration, really especially since the month of March. I do think it's due to the increase in illegal border crossings that usually drops off the closer we get to summer. I've spent all day today reading Vox and some others about the background to the anti-Trump recent outrage and have learned a lot. I also think the Colberts of the world are just so blind with Trump hatred (again, personally, I did not vote for him and never will) they will blame everything on him and not on a lack of space, of funds, or of personnel to help these kids.

David Gets Ordained! Luke and Gomer Cry.
ESHOW NOTES Our buddy David is now a priest! Fr. David Hust has a nice ring to it. It was awesome watching a friend of 17 years become a Roman Catholic Priest and celebrate his first Mass. It was a very traditional sung Mass and was just beautiful. Then Luke gives us his 5 points on how Catholic Dating Does Have to Suck (but probably will).

If Luke could Turn Back Time
ELuke tries to break up with Gomer on the show. Then we talk about Cher, the Young Adult Leadership Summit, Deadpool 2 and Solo.

Kevin Heider kills puppies (how's that for a title?!)
SHOW NOTES Kevin Heider gives a wonderful exploration as a singer/songwriter of the balance between objective and subjective meanings of songs and movies. He talks how Everclear's "So Much for the Afterglow" deeply moved him as an 8th grader to hear about the terribleness of the songwriter's father. Luke talks about how his view of rap changed after VH1's "Behind the Music" with Ice T. Luke also mentions making a vinyl album on a mythical Catching Foxes label, which I'M ALL FOR.

Gomer teaches Strategic Apathy
EThis episode was recorded two weeks ago in April. We discuss Praise and Worship music, movements and music, and Luke constantly going overboard on Reddit.

Luke Gets Fired
ELuke contemplates his extreme extroversion and shares his struggles at work. Gomer talks about robot superintelligences instead.

Avengers Infinity War (spoilers, kids)
We invited Jonathan Alexander, President of Adore Ministries, to review Avengers, Infinity War with us! Also, SKRULLS ARE COMING!

Katie Prejean McGrady vs Catholic Twitter
EWe interview Katie Prejean McGrady, author and speaker, about getting fired mere months after publishing a book about her school and teaching position (nuts!) and then we discuss the upcoming Synod on the Youth and the Haterade RadTrads throw on her. Gomer rants about it.

This Show Ended Our Friendship
ESHOW NOTES Luke tells me grace builds upon nature, again, but then he says that's why parishes need to study how to run successful non-profits. Wait a second. Hold on a minute. Didn't Luke pour haterade on everything I said in the past that involved similar suggestions? We yell.

To the civilians suffering the blowback of covert operations, the effect typically manifests itself as "random" acts of political violence without a discernible, direct cause; because the public—in whose name the intelligence agency acted—are unaware of the effected secret attacks that provoked revenge (counter-attack) against them.[1] Biblical Series II: Genesis 1: Chaos & Order - YouTube — Lecture II in my Psychological Significance of the Biblical Stories from May 23 at Isabel Bader Theatre, Toronto. In this lecture, I present Genesis 1, which presents the idea that a pre-existent cognitive structure (God the Father) uses the Logos, the Christian Word, the second Person of the Trinity, to generate habitable order out of precosmogonic chaos at the beginning of time. It is in that Image that Man and Woman are created -- indicating, perhaps, that it is (1) through speech that we participate in the creation of the cosmos of experience and (2) that what true speech creates is good. 117: Who Is Jordan Peterson? | The Word on Fire Show — Dr. Jordan Peterson, a clinical psychologist and mythology enthusiast, has exploded onto the scene, becoming the world’s most popular intellectual figure in just a few short months. Who is he and what should you know about him? And why have his ideas gained so much traction, especially young men?
