While there are still loose ends in the Class of 2026, the team will focus heavily on 2027 to get a jump on the recruiting process for the next cycle. While we're in the middle of a two-month dead period, Ryan Snyder has been working ahead to secure the names of players who plan to attend Penn State in the fall. He's also been interviewing players to get to know their stories ahead of the mad dash to January. Join the BWI Live Show as we discuss those topics, plus the major news that Penn State missed out on its quarterback target of choice for 2027, Peter Bourque, this week. Penn State loses out in 2027 QB Dominoes Penn State Class of 2027 target Peter Bourque was a regular in Happy Valley over the last two summers. The New England native attended several camps and was clearly the team's top quarterback target for the upcoming cycle. It was a recruitment that most Penn State fans should have felt good about. Then, suddenly, Bourque committed to Michigan earlier this week. Or, at least that's how it felt. We'll discuss the situation with Snyder and what his read of Penn State's most recent QB recruiting loss means for the program. Where does the team turn next? We'll dive into the dominoes that are now falling for the top remaining targets for the next cycle. Also, after trying to recruit two quarterbacks for the last two cycles, can the team rebound and find two passers to join the ranks of the Nittany Lions signal callers? Penn State recruit and commit stories Snyder has spent the last several weeks getting in touch with recruits to get to know them and their plans for the fall better. We'll outline several of his conversations, including how the unlikely pair of PA safety Matt Seig and California QB Troy Huhn bonded in the Class of 2026. Finally, we'll preview the upcoming fall football season for the rising seniors and discuss which players Snyder thinks have the best chance of rising up the recruiting rankings to make Penn State's profile for this cycle look better than it currently is. Ep 953Perception vs Reality: How Did Penn State QB Drew Allar play in the biggest games?
Subscribe to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube: https://bit.ly/3KzEcqKCheck out the site too! - https://bit.ly/3u8dilDPenn State quarterback Drew Allar is one of the most polarizing players on the team's roster. The senior quarterback is a major driving force behind the program's preseason prediction by many outlets to win the Big Ten Championship. Despite that, parts of his own fan base view him as a limiting factor because of the way he played in big games last year. So, before Penn State has its turn on the stage at the Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis and unofficially kicks off the start of the 2025 season, we're taking one last look back at its performance against Ohio State and Oregon in 2024. Join the BWI Live Show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to get a rare sneak peek into our premium content as we discuss a series of articles on the site from this week outlining how Allar performed based on advanced data. If you can't catch the show live, be sure to catch the replay on the channel, in this article, or wherever you get your podcasts. Trying to strip away the emotion of a Penn State loss Fans can point to any number of critical plays or turning points in the games against Ohio State and Oregon as the "reason" that Penn State lost. We can also blame the defense, receivers, or other parts of the offense beyond the quarterback. It's an impossible task, but the plan for these articles was to remove those elements and focus solely on Allar's performance in those games. We also try to establish a baseline of comparison for Allar's performance. After all, the Buckeye and Duck defenses were two of the better units in the conference last year. We'll try to establish a baseline of their performance by context and comparison to the rest of the conference, and then compare Allar's performance to how that unit forced quarterbacks to play. Play under pressure and within a pressure environment Next, we'll look at how pressure affected Allar during these two games and the playoffs overall. Pressure means more than one thing. First, we'll look at how Penn State's starting quarterback played with direct game pressure, as in when a defender was about to tackle him in the pocket. Next, we'll try to sniff out the pressure of the moment. Big games create a form of energy in their own right and can affect a player's normal performance. So, we'll look at Allar's play when in a clean pocket and compare that to season averages in both situations. Finally, we'll take that pressure data and compare Allar's playoff performance to his regular season performance. Big Ten Media Day SchedulePenn State head coach James Franklin will speak today in Las Vegas, and Blue White Illustrated will have you covered! We'll look at the three or four primary candidates to fill in behind the superstar duo and discuss what each player can bring to the table. Today on the BWI Live Recruiting Show, we'll preview the biggest names that will decide their college fate during the holiday weekend, plus recap June. How badly did Penn State get beaten for its top targets compared to other years? Reporter Ryan Snyder will do his best to illustrate how much NIL has eroded the top of the Penn State recruiting pile compared to previous years. Today, we'll try to better understand the new gap between what Penn State previously achieved before NIL and now. The team didn't routinely land elite prospects at the most valuable positions, but there's also a clear erosion of their recruiting. Snyder will attempt to pick through the results to give fans a better understanding.#PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Penn State's 2026 Recruiting Class Nears Finish Line: Who's Left to Commit? | June Recap Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. However, the Nittany Lions lost four top recruiting targets between Wednesday and Friday of last week. This recruiting news sparked a frenzy of panic among Penn State fans to the point that even reporter Nate Bauer wrote about it on Friday. So, today, we'll discuss the bigger implications of Penn State's loss of Khary Adams, Joey O'Brien, Greyson McKeogh, and Luke Wafle to its top rivals. We'll discuss the emotional impact, the logical next steps, and what the big picture means for the team's ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport, given the influence of NIL on recruiting. Join the show today at 10 a.m. on YouTube to discuss this, plus the latest roster update from the team and your questions! We'll be opening the live chat for discussion from fans throughout the show. Gang Green sets in for Penn State recruitingThree of the four players mentioned earlier all chose Notre Dame over Penn State. Meanwhile, Wafle chose USC over Ohio State in a bidding war that reportedly eclipsed 2 million dollars in NIL money. We'll address each individual recruiting situation and then consider them as part of a larger picture. Can Penn State's current model of retention withstand the new economy of recruiting? Will the program be cut off from top talent each cycle? Bauer and recruiting reporter Sean Fitz will dive deep into the topic to give Penn State fans a much-needed perspective on the topic. Penn State roster update and long-term weight changes In team-specific news, Penn State released its latest roster update, with Jabree Coleman joining the program this week. With it came updated weights for the program's athletes. We've tracked the progress of each player since January, and today, we'll reveal the biggest weight gainers and losers this offseason. What context should fans take from this? We'll discuss players who are transforming their bodies and which players may be falling behind for one reason or another. Nickel corner battle hinges on fall camp We also talked to Penn State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles this month. What did he say about his defense, and what he expects from the team this year? Bauer spoke to Knowles in an exclusive one-on-one interview recently, and he'll preview that conversation on today's show. In a separate conversation, Knowles discussed his nickel position in depth with BWI. We'll discuss the big takeaways from that conversation and what they mean for the team's defense this fall. Finally, despite the earlier recruiting focus on the show, there's more recruiting news to discuss this week. We'll wrap up the show with Fitz's recruiting update, discussing the news from this past weekend and the decisions looming on the horizon for the Penn State Class of 2026. #PennState #NittanyLions JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Penn State Recruiting Takes a Hit + Roster Update and Weight Changes Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. The bad news for the top of Penn State's 2026 prospects started Wednesday when four-star tackle Greyson McKeogh chose Notre Dame over Penn State and Texas. Shortly after, industry experts put in picks for top defensive back targets Khary Adams and Joey O'Brien to join him in South Bend. After that, reports from On3 surfaced that USC and Ohio State were in a bidding war for top defensive end Luke Wafle, who was about to command a seven-figure NIL package. Where does that leave Penn State? Snyder will do his best to give fans the intel on why things are trending away from the Nittany Lions with in-state and regional targets. We'll also discuss who is left on the board and what the program can do to make up ground. Penn State finishing June with three camps in five days Penn State hosted a smaller mid-week camp on Wednesday that BWI attended. Several top commits and prospects were also in attendance. Defensive back commits Julian Peterson and Matt Sieg also attended camp, which was our first time to see them work up close. We'll discuss how they performed. Previewing Visits and Camps to close JuneFinally, we'll preview the end of the 2025 June calendar. A recruiting dead period starts next week, lasting until the start of the 2025 season. It's the final chance to get prospects on campus for official visits and to have top targets visit the program. We'll discuss the upcoming players making their way to campus for a final round of official visits, and then those players will be invited to the Lasch Bash and White Out Camp on Sunday. We tracked his progress and performance throughout the afternoon and Fitz will discuss what he thinks on today's recruiting update. We will also highlight the rest of the offensive line, thanks to our tracking of the group through the afternoon. Finally, we'll preview the upcoming official visit weekend, which is stocked with elite talent. Is this Penn State's most important recruiting weekend of the official visit calendar? From the original report:“In a release, troopers say before 8:15 p.m., authorities were called to Painter Lick Lane in Columbia Township Friday night after an ATV crash. State police explain that the ATV was traveling Northbound on Painter Lick Lane when it struck a deer that jumped out into the roadway.”We'll discuss the situation. In less sober news, we'll move on to today's main topic. Penn State is now a favorite topic of conversation for national media. Some of the compliments and criticism are fair for the 2025 squad.
