S5 Ep 402Interview with Michelle Johnston - Executive Coach
Michelle Johnson is an executive coach, professional management professor and author who discussed the importance of a business mindset. She believes that the traditional approach of just focusing on bottom line results is no longer enough. She believes that leaders need to adapt to the new world of work and higher expectations when it comes to culture, climate, and environment within a business. She discussed her research and interviews on how leaders and humans can adapt. She also mentioned that she has seen good and bad culture within companies during her 14 years in corporate before she started her own business. The conversation discussed the seismic shift in the business world over the past few decades, particularly in relation to gender and culture. It was suggested that millennials have had a major influence on this change, as have women in leadership roles. An example was provided of a 2004-2005 executive mentor program, which aimed to connect fresh, wide-eyed business students with business leaders in order to orient them to the world of business opportunities and to keep them in the New Orleans area. The executives reported that the new generation of workers was vastly different. Thus, this conversation highlighted the importance of millennials and women in leadership roles in driving the change in the business world. The conversation discussed the cultural shift within the workplace, brought on by millennials and their push for work-life balance that their parents’ generation did not have. The speaker shared a story of her father who worked for General Motors and moved around every two years due to corporate promotions. The speaker then discussed Jenny Blumenthal, a high-level leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers who quit her job during the pandemic due to the inability to balance her work and family responsibilities. The speaker then raised the point that if companies do not listen to the push for work-life balance, their workforce will be disengaged and their bottom line will suffer. The conversation concluded with the speaker questioning what the alternative would be if companies do not listen.Timestamps0:02:47Interview with Michelle Johnson: Exploring the Seismic Shift in Leadership and Business Mindset0:04:56Heading: Examining the Seismic Shift in Business Culture Over the Last Century0:06:43Discussion on Work-Life Balance in the Modern Workplace0:10:42Exploring Work-Life Balance with a Millennial Corporate Brat0:15:30Heading: "The Power of Owning Your Story: An Executive Coach's Journey to Authenticity"0:17:59"The Benefits of BeSupport the showIf you want to watch the full video of this episode go to:https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalksDo you want to be a guest on multiple podcasts as a service go to:www.podcastintroduction.comFind more details about the podcast and my coaching business on:www.businessgrowthtalks.comFind me onLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-hayw...Tik Tok - https://www.tiktok.com/@mjh169183YouTube Shorts - https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalks/shorts
S5 Ep 401Why you should use podcast guesting as a marketing strategy
Podcast guesting can be an effective marketing strategy for entrepreneurs. By appearing as a guest on a popular podcast, entrepreneurs can reach a new audience and promote their business in a conversational and engaging manner. One of the benefits of podcast guesting is the ability to connect with the host and their audience. This provides the opportunity to build rapport and establish credibility with the audience. Entrepreneurs can use this platform to share their story, expertise, and knowledge on a topic related to their business. This can help position them as a thought leader in their industry, increase brand awareness, and attract potential customers.Additionally, podcast guesting allows entrepreneurs to reach a targeted audience. Most podcasts cater to specific niches or interests, so by appearing on a relevant podcast, entrepreneurs can reach an audience that is more likely to be interested in their product or service. This type of targeted marketing can result in higher conversions compared to more generalized marketing methods.Another advantage of podcast guesting is that it generates content that can be used for future marketing efforts. Entrepreneurs can repurpose their podcast appearance by sharing it on social media, their website, or in other marketing materials. This can increase their visibility and reach, as well as provide valuable content for their audience.Find more onwww.podcastintroduction.comSupport the showIf you want to watch the full video of this episode go to:https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalksDo you want to be a guest on multiple podcasts as a service go to:www.podcastintroduction.comFind more details about the podcast and my coaching business on:www.businessgrowthtalks.comFind me onLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-hayw...Tik Tok - https://www.tiktok.com/@mjh169183YouTube Shorts - https://www.youtube.com/@markhayward-BizGrowthTalks/shorts

S5 Ep 354Daniel Tolson - Founder of Tolson Institute
A feature length interview with Daniel Tolson, founder of Tolson Institute. Daniel’s early life was littered with difficulties with a learning disability and chronic fatigue. He spent a lot of time in physical and mental therapy. This gave him limiting beliefs which plagued his life in his 20’s. He felt he wasn’t smart enough, not educated enough with no degree; this wasn’t the end of his story. Daniel’s first role was as a real estate agent in Australia which he got from him uncle. He then went into a family business as a porn broker. He would buy second-hand goods and then resell for a profit. He then developed this business online with eBay and he could sell across Australia rather than locally. He left this business because he wanted to expand the business and the family disagreed. Daniel then went to Dubai, and he was excited by the hustle and bustle and the mentality of the expats in Dubai. He has an unfortunate experience in business, and he ended up on a construction site doing physical labour. This played into his limiting beliefs. He went back to Australia and joined Emirates as a plane assistant, which was a source of great fun and experiences. His business coaching business developed with a chance meeting with a coach on a plane. He then went into coaching with studying behavioural psychology, NLP, and personal development. His highest value was based on resilience. Daniel now has specialised in emotional intelligence and resilience. He helps people in their careers, and entrepreneurs to set goals for their personalities. The soft skills are so important, and he can transform people’s lives with this type of coaching. His future focus will be on job matching and helping businesses find their best fit for the role. S5 Ep 352Joseph O’Connor who is an author and executive coach
A feature length episode with Joseph O’Connor who is an author and executive coach. This is a fascinating conversation about coaching from an experienced coach. Joseph was a performer, teacher, and musician of the classical guitarist. He learnt important skills to develop as a performer and coach. After being a musician, he immersed himself in NLP and wrote several books on the subject. This was a starting point for his fascination in psychology of people. As a coach he wants to help interesting people in the best way. He set up the International Coaching Community which has helped 16,000 coaches develop their skills and knowledge. He has recently become fascinated by neuroscience and coaching. It is a complicated subject, and his book is trying to ‘iron out’ the difficulties and explain the subject in a clear way. This is new to coaching and understanding the brain can lead to insight coaching conversations. We discuss the role of leaders in business and Joseph explains how he approaches an entrepreneur and a corporate business owner. Joseph talks about how the brain is a prediction machine, how we use our experiences to create order and stability in the world. We often learn from our experiences and adapt our prediction machine so the brain can help predict the outcome of situations. This will give you great insight into coaching and I know I’ve learnt things from this conversation.
