S8 Ep 4S08E04 | Gordon Park | The Murder of Carol Park

E

In this episode, I tell the story of Gordon and Carol Park.In July 1976, Gordon Park returned to his Leece home from a family trip to Blackpool with his three children to discover that his wife, Carol, was missing. In August 1997, 21 years after she went missing, Carol Park's body was found by amateur divers in Coniston Water, a lake in the Lake District.Gordon was arrested on suspicion of Carol's murder in that same month, but the charges were later dropped. However, he was re-arrested in January 2004 and found guilty of Carol's murder in January 2005.In 2010, on his 66th birthday, Gordon Park took his own life. A posthumous appeal of his conviction was referred to the Court of Appeal in October 2018, but it was dismissed in May 2020.This incredibly divisive case was referred to in the media as 'The Lady in the Lake trial'.⁣⁣For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣https://www.britishmurders.com/⁣Intro music:⁣David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣References:⁣www.britishmurders.com/gordonpark/ Learn more about your ad choices. Jelka Pesic, Milan Nenadic and David Segoviano | The Murder of Alexandra Pesic | Feat. Bobbie Holmes

E

In the sixth volume of Killer British Murder Stories, Bobbie Holmes of Killer Stories tells me the story of Alexandra Pesic's murder.Former beauty queen and dental assistant Alexandra met a fellow Yugoslavian woman named Jelka Pesic whilst attending an open house with her mum in Vancouver, Canada.Alexandra was soon introduced to Jelka's son, Joe, and the pair went on to marry.Jelka was an overbearing "monster-in-law", making life extremely difficult for Alexandra. Finally, things got so bad that Alexandra divorced Joe and was granted custody of their son, Brandon.Inspired by the plot of a true crime book focusing on the murder case of Cindy James, Jelka planned the murder of Alexandra with the help of hitmen Milan Nenadic and David Segoviano.Jelka, Milan and David all received life sentences for Alenxadra's murder, which equates to 25 years in Canada. You can find and support 'Killer Stories' here:https://linktr.ee/KillerStoriesFor all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicRecorded using:ZencastrEdited in:Hindenberg PROBobbie's References:www.britishmurders.com/alexandrapesic/ Learn more about your ad choices. S7 Ep 12Harold Shipman | Dr Death | Part 2 | The Murders

E

In the season 7 special, I tell the story of Dr Harold Shipman, dubbed by the media as "Dr Death".Shipman was arrested on September 7, 1998, after police raided his home. The body of Kathleen Grundy, one of Shipman's former patients, was exhumed and examined after her daughter deemed it suspicious that her mother's will excluded her children but left a large sum to Shipman.Kathleen's body was found to contain traces of diamorphine, which contradicted her death being the result of old age as stated on her death certificate written by, you guessed it, Dr Harold Shipman. In total, Shipman was convicted of murdering 15 people, but the frightening reality is that his victim count is thought to be more than 250.In the first episode of this two-part special, I discussed Shipman's early life and background, his journey to becoming a GP with his own practice and what is thought to be his first-ever murder. ⁣This week, I'll discuss the murders he was convicted of, the trial and its aftermath.⁣⁣For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣https://www.britishmurders.com/⁣Intro music:⁣David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣My recording equipment:⁣Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded and Edited in:⁣Hindenberg PROReferences:⁣www.britishmurders.com/haroldshipmanpart2/ Learn more about your ad choices. Interview #9 | Claire McGowan (Writer and Lecturer)

bonusE

I welcome Northern Irish writer and lecturer Claire McGowan to the show in this interview episode to discuss Ireland's mysterious Vanishing Triangle cases. In 1990s Ireland, eight women were abducted and presumed murdered. They vanished without a trace, and no one was ever charged.Bestselling crime author Claire McGowan was determined to find out why. In her book on the case, Claire delivers a righteous polemic against the culture of secrecy, victim-blaming and shame that left those women's bodies unfound, their fates unknown, and their assailants unpunished.Claire grew up in a small village in Northern Ireland and now lives in London. She writes crime fiction as Claire McGowan and contemporary women's fiction as Eva Woods. Her latest book 'The Vanishing Triangle: The Murdered Women Ireland Forgot', released on May 1, 2022, is available to purchase here:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vanishing-Triangle-Murdered-Ireland-Forgot/dp/1542035295/You can find and support Claire McGowan here:https://www.ink-stains.co.uk/For all things British Murders, please visit my website:https://www.britishmurders.com/Intro music:David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusicMy recording equipment:Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded using:ZencastrEdited in:Hindenberg PRO Learn more about your ad choices. S5 Ep 12"The Muswell Hill Murderer" Dennis Nilsen Pt. 2: The Murders

E

In the season 5 special of British Murders, I'm telling the story of "The Muswell Hill Murderer" Dennis Nilsen.Nilsen was arrested on suspicion of murder in February 1983 after some of the other tenants at 23 Cranley Gardens called in a plumber to deal with their blocked drains. The plumber found pieces of human flesh and bones in an outside maintenance hole and the waste pipe leading out of Nilsen's attic flat. While en route to the police station, Nilsen told the officers that he thought he had killed 15 or 16 people. In the first episode of this two-part special, I discussed Nilsen's background and upbringing, including his time in the Army and the Metropolitan Police. In this second episode, I discuss the brutal murders themselves, the trial and the aftermath.⁣⁣For all things British Murders, please visit my website:⁣https://www.britishmurders.com/⁣Intro music:⁣David John Brady - 'Throw Down the Gauntlet'⁣https://linktr.ee/davidjohnbradymusic⁣My recording equipment:⁣Shure SM7B Vocal MicrophoneCloud Microphone Cloudlifter CL1Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio InterfaceRode PSA-1 Professional Studio Boom ArmRecorded in:⁣Hindenberg PROEdited in:⁣DaVinci Resolve 17⁣References:⁣www.britishmurders.com/dennisnilsenpt2/ Learn more about your ad choices.
