In some cases, when people relax and stress less, their gray hair can regain its original color! Researchers believe it’s because hair follicles have "color memories" and can sometimes restart producing pigment. The International Date Line (IDL) is one of the weirdest things on the map—it’s not a straight line at all! It zigzags to avoid splitting countries, islands, and even some communities into different days, which would be super confusing. Imagine one side of your house being a day ahead of the other! It mostly follows the 180° longitude line but takes big detours around places like Kiribati and Samoa so they can stay on the same date as their neighbors. There’s a bizarre object out in space that’s not a star and not a planet, but it’s hotter than the Sun! It’s called a “brown dwarf,” sometimes nicknamed a “failed star.” Brown dwarfs are too small to start nuclear fusion like real stars, but they’re much bigger and hotter than regular planets. One brown dwarf, called WD 0032-317B, is especially strange because it gets heated up by a nearby white dwarf (a super-hot leftover core of a dead star). This makes its atmosphere reach temperatures of over 14,000 degrees Fahrenheit, hotter than the surface of our Sun! It’s a wild example of how weird and surprising the universe can be. The Earth is round, Mercury is the hottest planet, and the Sun is yellow. It would seem that these are all simple, undeniable facts known even to those with no real knowledge of astronomy. However, it’s time to think again. The truth is that the period the Moon takes to revolve on its axis coincides with the amount of time it takes to orbit the Earth. That’s why we only see one side of it. Mercury is closest to the Sun; therefore, its surface temperature must be higher than all the other planets. However, the hottest planet in the Solar System is actually Venus, despite the fact it’s 31,070,000 miles (50 million km) further away from the Sun than its neighbor. What we think of as fire is, in fact, energy in the form of heat and light, produced by the thermonuclear reactions occurring in the star’s core. A thermonuclear reaction involves changing some elements into others, and it’s accompanied by the ejection of heat and light energy. Why do human eyes see the Sun as yellow? It’s all down to Earth’s atmosphere. As is well known, light which has a long wavelength, in the yellow and red part of the spectrum, passes through the atmosphere best of all. Light in shorter wavelengths, in the green to violet part of the spectrum, gets dissipated to a greater degree by the atmosphere. Our skin is flexible enough to keep all of our internal organs in place. The walls of the blood vessels would also prevent the blood from boiling thanks to their elasticity. Moreover, in the absence of external pressure in the space environment, the temperature at which blood boils rises to 115°F, which is significantly higher than the temperature of the human body. The axis of the planet, which passes through the North and South Poles, is not exactly perpendicular to its orbit and the Sun’s rays which fall on it. In turn, for half of the year, a large proportion of the Sun’s warmth falls on the southern hemisphere, while in the other half it falls on the northern one, which produces a change of seasons. The shape of our planet is constantly changing due to the constant movement of the continental plates. Of course, the rate at which they move is tiny — on average about 2 inches (5 cm) a year. If the oceans suddenly vanished, the continents would still be separated by deep trenches and valleys left behind by the water. Instead of walking or driving to another continent, you'd have to navigate rocky, uneven terrain filled with underwater mountains and volcanoes. SUMMARY: The sun is a star, and it’s the center of our universe. It’s composed of 74.9% hydrogen and 23.8% helium, with the remaining 1.3% belonging to the heavier metals of oxygen, carbon, neon, and iron. Right now, the sun is about halfway through the main sequence of its evolution. Astronomers think that the sun gets about 1% brighter every 100 million years. As the sun burns brighter and gets bigger, it will eventually turn into a red giant. The sun has enough mass and currently produces enough energy to burn for a total of 10 billion years. But after 6 billion years, hydrogen fuel will run out. On Earth, combustion needs fuel, air, and heat to occur. We use water to put fires out because they can’t burn through the coating of water over their fuel. But there’s no air in space, and water can’t stop the thermonuclear reactions that cause the sun to burn. So really we’ve just gathered all that water and brought it to the sun only for it to be burned as well. Our huge glass of water would actually make the sun get hotter and burn 6 times brighter. Pouring our gigantic glass of water onto the sun won’t extinguish it, but it will actually create a whole new sun! How cool is that? This new sun, with an even greater mass than our current one, will produce exponentially more energy for us to live off. If we don’t bring that huge glass of water into outer space and pour it onto the sun, then it will continue its thermonuclear fusion and stay on its projected path of destruction as planned. We are all guilty of adding some sugar here and there to make things taste better, but what might seem like innocent pleasure can actually cause a lot of serious health issues when we put too much sugar in our body. Luckily, our system gives us crystal-clear signs when we’ve crossed that line and should stop doing that immediately to protect ourselves from health problems. Large amounts of sugar in your diet cause your cells to go through complicated biochemical processes that result in muscle aches and pains, joint stiffness and swelling. Food high in sugar won’t make you feel full because it doesn’t contain any useful nutrients, which is why you often feel hungry even if you just ate a big delicious sugary muffin like half an hour ago. When you eat sweet stuff, the pancreas releases insulin to help bring glucose to the cells, giving you a rush of energy. Scammers keep coming up with new and more creative schemes to steal your money or valuable data. If you stay updated on the new phone scam schemes you can protect your money and data from scammers. This new scam has the potential to outsmart all other types of fraud. The Better Business Bureau has already called it the most dangerous phone scam out there! So, if your own number calls you, never ever take the call! Typically, the bad guys calling you from your own number introduce themselves as representatives from your mobile provider. They start by informing you that somebody has hacked your account. Then, they ask you to verify a few things. This sounds so trustworthy and people are already freaked out at the thought of their account being hacked that they willingly give up their personal data. First and foremost, don't answer the phone. There's no way that "you" are calling yourself. Authorities also recommend signing up for the National Do Not Call Registry.
