To make an airplane tire, producers use a mix of different kinds of synthetic rubber. It makes aircraft tires so strong that each of them can easily deal with a 38-ton load. The gas that fills aircraft tires is nitrogen. It doesn't react with rubber, which makes it a much safer choice for airplanes. The pressure in plane tires is 6 times bigger than the pressure in your car tires. It's 200 psi, and that's what you’d feel if you took a dive 450 ft underwater. There can be plenty of wheels on large airplanes, like an Airbus A380 or Boeing 747. And if one of the tires fails, the plane will still land safely. When a plane touches the ground, its tires aren't rolling at first - they're just skidding. In other words, the plane is dragging them along the runway until it slows down enough for the wheels to be able to rotate. Larger tires would be pointless since they wouldn't make landing more effective or safer. After plane tires are produced, they always get tested. Manufacturers create computer simulations that check how tires will behave if they're pushed past their speed limit or get overloaded. And still, airplane tires aren't entirely safe from bursting. Accidents did happen in the past, and planes did skid off runways because of one of the tires exploding mid-landing. Hydroplaning is a situation that occurs when the runway is covered with a layer of water preventing a landing plane from braking and stopping in time. The aircraft just keeps skidding forward, unable to find traction. That’s why some airports have grooves on the runway. Water flows into these grooves, making the surface not so slippery and dropping the chances of hydroplaning. This may happen to anybody: you're walking home and suddenly notice that somebody is following you. Your natural reaction – having a panic attack – won’t help, but there are several ways how to protect yourself from being attacked or robbed. Remember, you should stay alert at all times. Any time you're going home, taking a dog for a walk, strolling the streets on your own, stay focused and observant. Glance around and behind yourself every half a minute or so. Try to notice everything out of the ordinary and analyze the situation. And if your instinct or reason tells you that somebody is stalking you, it's time for some actions. In case you’re sure you’re being followed, try to lose them. Cross the street as if you need to do this. If you're lucky, they may even lose you in a crowd, around a building, or behind cars. Check who is following you - confront the danger head-on. What is more, you immediately alert the person who is after you that you're well aware that they are on your tail. Sometimes, it's enough to cause a person to stop. Call your friends or, if you’re in immediate danger, call the police. If your cell phone's battery is dead or you can't use it, enter any establishment on your way, inform them that you're being followed, and ask them to call the police. If you decide to run away, go to areas full of people: first of all, your stalker may lose you among other people; secondly, they will unlikely hurt you or rob in front of others. If the criminal gets ahold of you, be cooperative, listen to the criminal, don't talk, and follow their instructions. If a person threatens you with a knife or a gun, such cooperation will lower the chances that they will harm you. If you understand that you're being attacked, use everything you have at hand to fight off the criminal. A mysterious creature, huge, fast, and lethal, is lurking somewhere in the dark. People claim to have seen a giant shark here and there all over the planet. Maybe it's the Megalodon, an ancient predator that's believed to be long gone? But could Megalodon still live In the deep ocean? This shark was the real king of the oceans - it even hunted whales! Surely such a majestic creature couldn't disappear without a trace? And indeed, there have been several cases when witnesses were sure they had seen the Meg. But could it be just their fear talking? The Megalodon, which means "big tooth," is the largest shark ever to roam the Earth's seas and oceans. It reportedly lived 23 to 3.6 million years ago and was truly enormous. Its bite was more powerful than that of a T-Rex. And no wonder - not only did the animal have super-strong jaws, but its teeth also reached 7 inches in length! Even better, the Megalodon had about 300 teeth growing in at least 6 rows.
