Liverpool will definitely win the Premier League by beating Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday and then Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday. That would end the club’s 30-year wait for the league title and it would be celebrated by millions of Reds fans across the world. Sadly Anfield itself won’t be able to host 50,000 of those supporters on Wednesday evening given the match has to be played behind closed doors. We’ve got a very special podcast to round off the week’s listening on the Blood Red channel as Matt Addison picks up the phone to Jurgen Klopp’s former team-mate, and now German football journalist, Guido Schäfer. The pair played together for six years at FSV Mainz 05 in the early 90s and Guido provides a lovely and fascinating insight into what the man affectionately known in his homeland as ‘Kloppo’ was like as a player and as a person back then. With Timo Werner set to sign for Chelsea, what does that mean for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, the manager and club the RB Leipzig striker seemed perfect for? That’s the question asked by Josh Williams and David Alexander Hughes in the latest Analysing Anfield podcast. Matt Addison picks up the phone to Jan Age Fjortoft for a special Blood Red podcast. Talk then turns to Real Madrid wonderkid, and fellow Norwegian, Martin Odegaard, who came close to joining Liverpool, the club he still supports, before moving to the Spanish capital. Fjortoft details how he helped Odegaard make his decision and answers whether he sees the 21-year-old midfielder pulling on the Red shirt one day. Fjortoft also discusses another Norwegian prodigy, 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland, who is also being tipped to move to Anfield in the future. Fjortoft covers the Bundesliga as part of the job he does today and so Matt gets his opinion on three players who have been extensively linked to Liverpool – Timo Werner, Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz. It’s official – the Premier League will resume on June 17. And that means Liverpool could be crowned champions in their first game back... against Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park! The campaign will restart with matches between Manchester City and Arsenal, and Aston Villa and Sheffield United. Those two matches are the ‘games in hand’ that will take all 20 Premier League clubs up to 29 fixtures played. The first full round of matches will be staggered across the following weekend – including the Merseyside derby. And should City lose to Arsenal on the Wednesday, Liverpool would seal the title with victory over Everton.
