October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among South African women and in developing countries, like South Africa, 20% of breast cancer cases occur in women under the age of 40, compared to just5 to 7% in high-income countries. The Breast Imaging Society of South Africa, a sub-specialty group ofthe Radiological Society of South Africa, is urging women to complete risk assessments from an early age and to realize that some women are at higher risk than others and may needadditional screening.We chat to Dr Eugene Jooste who is a member of the BreastImaging Society of South Africa.

Dr. Tshilidzi Rachel Nevhutanda is the author of a book titled "The Plight of a Pastors Wife: Shattering the Silence, Restoring the Soul" The book addresses issues faced by women, particularly pastorswives, and aims to bring their voices to light.

September is Suicide Prevention Month - a time where we raise awareness, spread hope, and spark meaningful action and conversations around one of the most urgent mental health issuesof our time. According to the Council for Medical Schemes, in 2024 the estimated suicide rate in South Africa was 23.5 per 100 000, translating to about 14 000 deaths from suicide annually.
