October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among South African women and in developing countries, like South Africa, 20% of breast cancer cases occur in women under the age of 40, compared to just5 to 7% in high-income countries. The Breast Imaging Society of South Africa, a sub-specialty group ofthe Radiological Society of South Africa, is urging women to complete risk assessments from an early age and to realize that some women are at higher risk than others and may needadditional screening.We chat to Dr Eugene Jooste who is a member of the BreastImaging Society of South Africa.

(Article from SABC News)The Eastern Cape province is grappling with a statutory rape crisis as the number of pregnant underage invreased this year and there are concerns that such cases are not being prosecuted successfully. Statistics from the Eastern Cape Health Department reveal that between April and July this year a total of 117 girls aged 10 to 14 years gave birth at provincial public hospitals. During the same period last year, the province recorded 94 cases of children giving birth. We are joined on the line by Okuhle Mdodana from Childline in the Eastern Cape.
