Ep 268Bachelor Nation's Ben Higgins (Breaking It All Down!)

E

Ben Higgins steps Behind The Rope. Mr. Former Bachelor Himself, steps by to chat about all that has been going on in Bachelor Nation since the end of this controversial “Matt James” season of The Bachelor. Ben shares his thoughts on how he thought Matt did, Matt’s choice to give his final rose to Rachael Kirkconnell and the end of their relationship due, in large part, to her "racially insensitive” past actions. We also discuss Matt’s decision to delete any and all mention of Bachelor Nation on his Instagram answering questions such as what does this mean for Bachelor Nation, how must Matt be feeling right now as he attempts to rebuild his life and whether he should be given another shot, not that he is asking for it, at the lead role. Matt and Rachael were recently seen together in New York City. What does it all mean? Of course, we chat about and question Chris Harrison’s discussion with Rachel Lindsay, his decision to “step aside”, will and should Chris ever return, who should be a permanent replacement for Chris if he does not return and last, but certainly not least, Chris Harrison’s decision to hire the same high powered attorney Gabrielle Union employed when she was “let go” from “America’s Got Talent”. Hmm, the plot thickens. Looking ahead, we chat about the next two Bachelorettes, Katie Thurston and Michelle Young, as well as their hosts, Bachelor Nation’s Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe. Speaking of Bachelors and plots, we check in with Ben about his current engagement to Jessica Clarke, their decision to live apart until married, their ideal wedding, and when they plan on getting married. Ben also chats about his stellar new book “Alone in Plain Sight” and amazing Bachelor Nation Podcast “I Almost Famous Podcast”. Finally we need Ben’s expert opinion of other recent Bachelor Nation couples Tayshia and Zac and Clare and Dale. @higgins.ben @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 267FRANKIE GRANDE (on Big Brother, Music Divas, Red Carpets, Social Media, & "Titanique")

E

Frankie Grande steps Behind The Rope. Reality TV Star, Red Carpet Host, Influencer, Broadway Legend, LGBTQIA Advocate. Yes, he is also the brother to one of the world’s biggest Pop Stars of our generation, Ariana Grande for those living under a rock, but there is much much more to Frankie than his famous last name. Starting at the beginning, Frankie chats about being on Broadway at a young age - the many shows he was in, the pieces he produced and the many talented, many recognizable celebs he worked with. Frankie explains how and why he became a Social Media Influencer, before that was a thing, how he amassed his current following exceeding 2 Million IG followers, over 30 million You Tube Views, and TikTok stats that leave most speechless, the negative effects social media can have and what he foresees as the future of social. Of course, we chat about Frankie’s decision to temporarily leave all of that behind to enter the Big Brother house and play one of the best games in reality TV history, Big Brother. After Big Brother, Frankie Grande became a household name allowing him to continue his career by doing it all - more broadway, red carpet hosting, more reality TV and so on. What hasn’t Frankie Grande done? Now, he is back having just performed in an all-star studded revival of Rock of Ages as well as an upcoming brand new one night only live streaming musical (this Sunday May 2nd), “Titanique: The Maiden Voyage Concert”, a parody of Titanic set to, yup you guessed it, Celine Dion songs. Celine even makes an appearance as herself, kind of. Frankie chats about what it was like to play Victor Garber in Titanique and whether Celine Dion herself will be tuning in this Sunday night. Finally, we check in with Frankie on his fam - Sister, Mom, Nona and boyfriend Hale and, having met everyone and anyone, do a rapid fire round of Frankie’s hot takes on some of our favorite music divas, not the least of which is his number one (tied with Celine) Queen Madonna! Oh, fear not. Ep 266João Franco (on all things Below Deck Med / Below Deck Current & Past!)

E

João Franco, from Below Deck Med, steps Behind The Rope. Checking in from his home in South Africa, birds chirping in the background, João stops by to fill us in on everything he has been up to since we last saw him on our TV sets and chat all things about two of Bravo’s highest rated shows, Below Deck Med and Below Deck. João explains how, although he was authentically himself, many of his cast mates and Below Deck Med Veterans ’tried” to make a TV show and were all too aware of their images and cameras. Veterans? Well that can only mean two people - Captain Sandy and Hannah Ferrier. Do tell? On that note, let us not forget João was at BravoCon with Colin Macy O’Toole, The Captains Sandy and Lee and Kate Chastain. We discuss BravoCon in detail and why there were some bumps in the road there between João and the rest of the gang. Now that João is a Captain of his own, he chats about whether, as seen on last seasons Below Deck Med, Malia was required to report Hannah’s Valium and discusses how he himself interprets Maritime Law in regards to bringing prescription mediation on board a vessel. Speaking of Hannah Ferrier, we discuss his current thoughts on Hannah and the status of their relationship today. João also opens up about his time filming with Captain Sandy, the ups and down in their relationship since filming, how social media has led to some of the “downs” in that relationship and how BravoCon led to a strange interaction between the two. João also gives us the real deal, holding nothing back, about just how accurate is Below Deck Med when compared to the Real World Yachting Industry and discusses which is more difficult, a Below Deck Charter or a Real World Charter. As far as Real World Charter’s, our mouths are agape when João describes particular charters he has been on with Presidents of Countries, Famous Actresses & Actors and Billionaires. Some of his stories have left The Rope speechless. @joaograntfranco @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 265Kate Flannery (On The Office, Dancing With The Stars, Comedic Inspirations & New Movie)

E

Kate Flannery steps Behind The Rope. Yes, THAT Kate Flannery. Meredith Palmer. Kate shares her journey to becoming one of today’s top comedians. That journey began, in part, at Second City’s Improv Comedy Troupe. That Comedy Troupe was also the training ground for many of our other favorite funny ladies and gents which Kate is happy to chat about - such as Jane Lynch and Steve Carell. Speaking of Steve Carell, Kate entertains all of our many questions about The Office - how she was cast, which plot lines were her favorite, all the behind the scenes fun, what it was like to play fan favorite Meredith Palmer in all her glory, drinking problem and all, and where would Meredith be today, to name a few. We discuss how the ratings for the first season were less than stellar and then a little known movie called “The 40 Year Old Virgin” came into our lives and the rest is history. With the reboot trend not slowing down anytime soon, we chat Office reboot and what exactly that would look like. Kate also opens up about her participation in Dancing With The Stars discussing what dancing each week on national TV in America’s most famous ballroom was like and a few of our favorite of her fellow dancers, James Van Der Beek, Karamo Brown, Lamar Odom Bachelorette Hannah Brown. We also talk about some of Kate’s biggest inspirations that led her to pursue a career in comedy, the strangest Office fan encounter she has ever had, and how and why “being recognized” never gets old. Finally, we chat about her upcoming new movie about Women’s Arm Wrestling. sign us up, “Golden Arm” and that, we can't help but make the comparison, other brilliant Women's Wrestling show, Netflix's "Glow". @thekateflannery @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 264TIFFANY MOON (on RHOD Current Season & Upcoming Reunion!)

E

Tiffany Moon steps Behind The Rope. That's Doctor Tiffany Moon from The Real Housewives of Dallas who stops by to chat about all from her freshman year. Tiffany opens up about the difficulties of filming a reality show, raising two children and being a full time physician while filming a reality show. We chat about some of the seasons biggest dramas thus far as they related to Tiffany - the epic Austin vacation, being thrown in the pool and hazed to drink Tequila by Kary Brittingham, Kameron Westcott and her aversion to chicken feet, Brandi Redmond and her aversion to crickets, to name a few. Speaking of Brandi Redmond, Tiffany opens up about Brandi's “racially insensitive” viral video heard ‘round the world’, what it was like to confront Brandi on camera, and the status of their relationship today. We also discuss and dissect Brandi's recent statement of potential departure and hypothesize whether she is really leaving the franchise. We also chat about Tiffany’s own recent statement that she may only be “a one season wonder” and chat about our other fav RHODs D’Andra Simmons and Stephanie Hollman. With the reunion looming, Tiffany explains who she is most anxious to see, what issues she feels will be resolved, and those which she thinks are beyond repair. On a more serious note, we discuss the importance of Asian American representation on shows like RHOD and analyze how Tiffany has changed both on and off camera throughout the season as a result of being a part of the friendship group. Finally, we could NOT let Doctor Moon go without a deep dive into her infamous closet with Tiffany answering all of our burning questions regarding this already iconic Housewives’ masterpiece. Thanks for stopping by Dr. Moon. @tiffanymoonmd @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope (10% Off First Month - Use Code "velvet rope") Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 263Gregory Zarian Returns (on RHONJ, Kathy Wakile, The "Biz", & 86 Melrose Avenue!)

E

Gregory Zarian steps back Behind The Rope. We have to stop meeting like this. With his “Behind The Velvet Rope” coffee mug in hand - sorry Melissa Rivers, yours is on the way - let us not forget Gregory has been in many, and we mean many, of our favorite TV shows - Nip/Tuck, The OC (Queen Mischa), 90210, Revenge, Westworld, Criminal Minds, Bones and Castle. Let us also not forget his role as “fan fav” Julius on General Hospital. Gregory and David chat about “the business” - the highs and lows, the biggest misconceptions of what it means to be an actor, how he prepares for a role, how not to take everything personally, and the most difficult aspects of the business. On that note, Gregory opens up about the constant rejection any and all actors and actresses face, whether that ever gets easier and the advice he would give someone just starting out. We also chat about the, for better or worse, presence of social media in the entertainment business today and the role it plays. This brings up larger discussions such as why people pursue the craft of acting, bullying both IRL and on social media, cancel culture and just what is going on in this ever changing world on a daily basis. Wow. Who knew we were so serious. Speaking of bullying, Gregory chats about his role on the brilliant Venice: The Series, which dealt with issues of bullying, a role he is most proud of. On a lighter note, Gregory chats about his brand new movie, 86 Melrose Avenue, about a diverse group of people at a gallery opening taken hostage forcing them to confront their cultural differences, pasts and potential looming mortality as time ticks away. Of course, all roads lead back to Housewives. For anyone who remembers our past two chats with Gregory, if not, hey, go listen, Gregory calls Kathy Wakile “Mom”. He even has a T-shirt to prove it. We discuss our mutual family/friend Kathy, her daughter Victoria’s recent wedding, and all the goings on this season of RHONJ- team Jackie or Tre? As always, Gregory, love having you. Ep 262MELISSA RIVERS (on Joan, Joining RHOBH, The Oscars & Mrs. Maisel)!!!

E

Melissa Rivers steps back Behind The Rope!! Yup, she is baacck!! We could not think of anyone better to help us break down all the red carpets of this past awards season than the one and only Fashion Icon herself, Melissa Rivers. Melissa does know a thing or two about fashion having hosted and executive produced that little blockbuster of a hit show, “Fashion Police” for many years. Melissa opens up about what Fashion Police would look like in 2021 and would she really ever consider going back. We chat with Melissa about the red carpet fashion, or lack thereof, seen in the past few weeks and chat about her predictions for the upcoming Oscars, which will be held live (no Zooms allowed!). We discuss the best and worst dressed of this awards season, who we have our eye on, and what and who it would take to “fix” the current red carpet situation. The last time we chatted with Melissa Rivers, The Rope had a viral moment regarding Joan Rivers and what her thoughts on wearing a mask would be - Google It. To that extent, we followed up the only way we know how, by discussing what would Joan Rivers think and say about having one's entire glam team come over, spend hours and hours making you up, slipping on a way overpriced height of fashion dress, shoes and jewels to travel to your living room to sit in front of a computer and accept an Award. Or your kitchen? Or bedroom? Speaking of Joan Rivers, she was always honest about her feelings for Ellen. We ask Melissa about Ellen and the public scrutiny she has received over the past year for being a rumored “mean girl”. We chat about Cancel Culture, are comedians “exempt” by the very definition of the job, and how would Joan hold up in our current climate. Of course, we had to ask Melissa the obvious question, would she ever consider joining RHOBH? We chat about who she knows on the cast, what type of Housewife she would be, what type of Real Housewives Mom Joan Rivers would be, and finally what she thinks of our fav diamond holders’ fashion choices. With Housewives and TV on the mind, we chat with Melissa about her ex Fashion Police co-host Nene Leakes’ current “Boycott Bravo” petition and can one ever come back from going against a network, what family she thinks is prime to be the next royal family of E once the Kardashians step aside, and when will she start receiving royalties for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which is so very obviously based on the life of the most Iconic Female Comedian to ever live, past, present, future til the end of all time, Miss Joan Rivers. @melissariversofficial @melissariversgrouptext @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope This episode is brought to you by https://www.storyworth.com/velvet ($10 off First Purchase) This Episode is brought to you by Apostrophe https://www.apostrophe.com/pod/VELVET/ ($15 off First Visit) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 261Michael Fishman (Tells All on Roseanne, The Conners and playing D.J.) - Part II

E

Having discussed how Michael broke into the business at age six with his Rosanne audition and what it was like working on one of televisions all time greatest shows for a nine year run, we pick up right where we left off last time. Michael looks back sharing his opinions why he think Roseanne was not only such a critical and ratings darling for its entire run but will forever go down in history as one of the shows that changed the face of TV as we know it. Michael opens up about his “lean years” after the show ended, how he didn’t hear from family members Rosanne Barr, Laurie Metcalf, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson as often as he expected, how he got a fast education once he returned to public high school and various odd jobs both in and outside the entertainment business and how playing the part of D.J. Conner for nine years led to a “typecasting” that proved not always an easy feat to secure new roles. Then one day John Goodman appeared on Sara Gilbert’s “The Talk” and everything changed. Within two months, the entire original fast had signed on the dotted line and “Roseanne, The Reboot” was official. Having premiered to insanely stellar numbers, all was great with the world and the family was back together. Not so fast. One viral tweet from Roseanne, would change all that! Just like that, The Reboot was cancelled, the public reacted, Michael issued a statement, Roseanne responded, and…. We discuss the psychology and mental state of what it was like for Michael to get hired for Roseanne, lose his job as D.J. Conner in an instant after Roseanne’s tweets, make an official public statement denouncing the tweets (and including his own views on diversity and inclusion), hearing from Roseanne (publicly) in response to his statements hint: she was not happy, and the “fall out” (however temporary or permanent) of a very close friendship with Roseanne, a woman who was like a second mom and saw him grow up. Confused, Dazed, Shocked and many more adjectives - we emotionally go through the full trajectory of emotions, as well as the exact timeline associated with those emotions. Emotions which then included a job offer to “reprise his role”, immediately, in The Conners. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride to present day, present season of The Conners and Michael is here to share it all as we conclude our Two Part chat with the actor behind the iconic role of D.J. Ep 260Alaska (on Drag Race, Joan Rivers, Margaret Cho, & New Comedy Special)

E

Alaska steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Alaska Thunderf**k in all her glory. We start with a brief chat with Alaska about how and why she started doing drag, her fashion inspirations for Alaska’s unique style and makeup and the origins of her infamous name. Alaska opens up about being rejected from Drag Race seasons one through four before finally being given a coveted spot by Ru in season five. Alaska discussed what she feels was different with her drag by season five in order to be chosen as one of Ru’s gals, the reality of the show versus what we all see on TV each week and her runner up status - damn you Jinkx Monsoon. All worked out with Alaska’s runner up status because she returned a few years later for All Stars 2 and this time she won. We delve into the public criticism Alaska received after her win and time on All Stars, the effects of social media on anyone in the public eye and how she moved on from there. One of the ways she moved on was comedy and that comedy included her All Stars Reunion leg toss based on the original iconic leg toss by our very own RHONY’s Queen Aviva Dresher. Of course, we need all the details about the decision to recreate this brilliantly classic moment! Speaking of Bravo, Alaska discusses her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with former Rope guests Peppermint and Trinity, Andy Cohen and the other “guests” that night. Now Alaska has first ever comedy special she is here to chat about called “The Alaska Thudnerf**k Extra Special Comedy Special”. Alaska discussed her comedic inspirations - Joan Rivers, Phyllis Diller and Margaret Cho (who is also part of the special), her decision to put this out in a social climate different than when it was originally committed to, the good and bad of cancel culture, what a comedic legend like Joan Rivers would say if she were alive today about cancel culture, and just what is up next for this Comedy Queen, no pun intended, herself. One thing we know for sure, she is busy with her “day job” hosting the hilarious “Race Chaser” podcast with Willam. Ep 259Kary Brittingham (on RHOD Past, Present & Future!)

E

Kary Brittingham steps Behind The Rope. We waste no time in breaking down all the goings on this current Season Five of RHOD. Kary chats about her on again - off again “relationship" with newbie Tiffany Moon. Kary breaks down some of her biggest “dramas” with Tiffany so far this season and chats about why they just can’t seem to see eye to eye. Kary also addresses her current unexpected “issues” with Trunk Show Partner in Crime D’Andra Simmons. We discuss the word “bully” which has been thrown around a lot this current RHOD season and address whether that word is being appropriately used in regards to, not only to Kary, but the rest of the cast as well. We have a rapid fire round with Kary on such pressing topics as: nicest, closest with, most fake, who should be replaced, and many others as it relates to Tiffany, D’Andra, Kam, Stephanie and Brandi. Breaking the fourth wall, we address how RHOD, and every other Housewives’ franchise, plays out in large part on social media, as opposed to TV, and how one learns, Tiffany we are speaking to you, to deal with that. Speaking of off air, Kary shares her opinions on Brandi Redmond’s cryptic Instagram message that has viewers wondering, is she really leaving the series? Of course, with all the drama surrounding Kary and some of the other women this season, D’Andra and Tiffany, we needed to ask Kary if she wishes OG LeeAnne Locken were back, instead of one of those two, or in addition to help deflect the drama. Finally, Kary dishes on who she is and is not following on social media, the current status of all of her relationships with RHOD present and past, yes LeeAnne included, and just why don’t we see more of her husband, Eduardo, this season on RHOD. @karybritt @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope This episode is brought to you by https://www.storyworth.com/velvet ($10 off First Purchase) This Episode is brought to you by Apostrophe https://www.apostrophe.com/pod/VELVET/ ($15 off First Visit) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. The Real Housewives of Miami's Ana Quincoces (Catching Up)!

With all this talk about a Real Housewives of Miami Reboot, today we share our chat from a few months ago with RHOM's Ana Quincoces. Ana fills us in on all that she has been up to since we last saw her on our TV screens on the classic Bravo Show, The Real Housewives of Miami. Born and raised in Miami, of Cuban descent, Ana is here to tell it all. Ana and David bond over both being recovering lawyers and having moved on to other great careers. In Ana’s case, she has been running a legit business, Skinny Latina. Started in 2013, it is a marinate and sauces business, to help making cooking easier and to help make anything taste good. With a name like Skinny Latina, we have to ask, has she heard from Bethenny Frankel or her Skinny Girl team? The answer is not what you would expect. We also discuss her appearance on the "Food Network Star" and how her fellow contestants felt she got special treatment for being a former “Housewife”. Speaking of Housewives, Ana discusses how she originally got cast, why she said yes to the opportunity and how the producers really felt about her. Ana tells us all about her cast mates Lea Black, Adriana de Moura, Alexia Echevarria, Marysol Patton, Lisa Hochstein, Karent Sierra and last, but certainly not least, Joanna Krupa and where her relationship with reach stands today. She explains what being on Watch What Happens Live was like and how her life changed as a result of being on the show. One career high was co-hosting The View - we discuss Barbara Walters, was the environment really as "toxic" as everyone says and what happened when two of her guests were RHONJ's very own Melissa Gorga and Jacqueline Laurita. Ep 257Bethenny Ever After's "Coordinator of Chaos" - Julie Plake McMinn (Catching Up!)

E

With all of this nostalgia floating around the BravoVerse these days, we couldn't think of a better Bravolebrity to have join us than "Fan Favorite" Julie Plake McMinn. You know Julie Plake, The “Coordinator of Chaos" from the Iconic Bravo shows “Bethenny Getting Married” and “Bethenny Ever After.” Checking in from her home in Pittsburgh, PA, with husband and 3 kids in tow, Julie takes us back to the beginning. She moved to New York City basically overnight on a whim when she got a job offer to work at a series of famed New York City magazines. It was at one of those magazines, Hamptons Magazine, that she met Bethenny Frankel, who was hired to cook a brunch at Julie's boss' house. Julie was sent to be Bethenny’s Sous-chef for the day. In typical Bethenny fashion, Julie was thrown right into the job never having been asked by Bethenny of her qualifications or experience in the kitchen. They bonded. After that brunch, Julie said to Bethenny, (1) you are going to be famous and (2) when you are, call me and I will come work for you. News flash. Bethenny did become famous. Very famous. Another news flash. Julie did end up working for her, as seen on Bethenny’s two blockbuster Bravo shows. Julie takes us on her journey of working for Bethenny during the start, rise and sale of the Skinny Girl Empire. She bestows us with the wisdom she learned from Master B herself, what a typical work day looked like, what it was like to film a hit Bravo TV show, the decision to ultimately leave the B, and what that conversation looked like. Julie was also there for the beginning of Bethenny’s relationship with Jason Hoppy, which we dissect. We chat with Julie about recent developments in Bethenny’s life - a hit Podcast, brand new apprentice style show “Big Shot With Bethenny” and engagement - Paul Bernon we are looking at you, as well as in her own life - new business “The Learning Match” which helps connects parents to the educators they need and ongoing "JPM Branding and Consulting” where she shares the wisdom she learned from the best business man, woman, anything we know, Bethenny Frankel, with the rest of the world!!! Ep 256Michael Fishman (Tells All on Roseanne, The Conners and playing D.J) - Part I

E

Roseanne’s / The Conners' Michael Fishman steps Behind The Rope. Little D.J. Conner all grown up. Let us start at the beginning. Cast at the young age of six, Michael began his acting career when Roseanne Barr herself fought for him to play D.J Conner despite any lack of formal training or experience. Michael discusses what it was like being the youngest on a set that included Roseanne, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson. Michael recalls the best and worst times during Roseanne’s original nine year run from 1988-1997, one of the worst being the death threats the cast received after Roseanne “performed” The National Anthem that was heard around the world. The “best" is the “family” that Michael inherited plus lots of fun guest stars such as Leo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Sandra Bernhard, Sharon Stone, and Bruce Willis, to name a few. Nostalgia at its best, Michael describes what it was like to be on a TV show that became a worldwide global hit overnight and had stellar ratings throughout the years. He also discusses the concept of fame and when he first became aware that he was and how “strange” it was as a child to be asked for your autograph. On a more serious note, Michael opens up about the misconceptions of being on one of America’s top rated and critically acclaimed television shows for nine years - that you are making tons of money and will never have to work again, that you can easily find work in another role when the party ends and that everyone in the “family” will keep in touch when the lights fade. Ep 255The Real World: New York's / Homecoming's Andre Comeau (On First Season, Current Homecoming Season & Being a Reality TV OG)

E

This is the true story…of seven strangers…picked to live in a house…(work together) and have their lives taped…to find out what happens…when people stop being polite…and start getting real… On that note, Andre Comeau from the original grandaddy of them all, The Real World: New York, steps Behind The Rope. THE show that changed, introduced, formed and revolutionized Reality TV. We start at the beginning by asking the question, just how did Andre get cast on the first ever Real World in NYC and what was casting like way back when. With no prior reality show to look to, we discuss how he knew what to do when the cameras started rolling - he didn’t. With no predecessor to look to, we discuss how this makes the Real World, New York, Season One possibly the most authentic reality TV show ever. Andre discusses what he thought the show could do for his up and coming rock band, how he was able to get used to cameras around 24/7, the influence of producers back then, and what he thought of his edit once the show aired. Andre discusses what MTV was like back in the day when it was the channel that played music all day and how he thought the Real World would maybe be a little show that a few people watched. On that note, we talk about how life suddenly changed once the show aired and became a multigenerational blockbuster of supreme magnitude. We discuss his house mates Eric, Julie, Norman, Heather, Kevin, and Becky and the groundbreaking issues they dealt with way ahead of “their time” such as racism, sexuality, The AIDS crisis. Andre opens up about the aftermath of being in the spotlight, the identity crisis he suffered, the highs and lows of the entertainment business and how to navigate it successfully and come out the other side. Flash forward 29 years, MTV comes a’ callin’ and Andre finds himself back in the same loft for an epic 6 episode arc, The Real World Homecoming: New York. Andre chats about how much has changed, how much has stayed the same, what it was like to see everyone again, the re-heated confrontation between Becky and Kevin over the issue of racism, and just how much the original holds up in the world we live in today. @andrecomeaumusic @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Mint Mobile https://www.mintmobile.com/velvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. E

Kim D. steps Behind The Rope. Yes THAT Kim from The Real Housewives of New Jersey seasons past. She plays with the big boys and is here to tell us all about it. A close personal friend of David’s, Kim is here to chat about it all. Let us start at the beginning. Born and raised in New Jersey (is anyone shocked?), Kim opens up about her childhood and “the lifestyle” she was exposed to at a young age. Yes, we are talking about the M-O-B. Flash forward to Season Two of RHONJ and the world got to meet Kim D, not to be confused with that other Kim, Kim G, (yes that are often confused) and the world has never been the same since. Miss D reminisces about her time on the show. That time includes those iconic Posche Fashion shows which often ended in brawls, table flips, police, hair pulls and lawsuits. You know, just an average day in the Jerz. Of course, she chats about her on and off camera conflict with both Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga and the status of those two relationships today. What about that recent night David and Kim ran into Melissa and Joe Gorga out in Fort Lee, NJ? Say whaat? Kim also chats about her past and current relationships with some of RHONJ’s finest Dolores Catania, Siggy Flicker, Kathy Wakile, Jaqueline Laurita, Danielle Staub, Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo. Speaking of Dina Manzo, Kim weighs in on the recent charges filed and ongoing case against Dina Manzo’s ex-husband’s and its alleged Mob Ties. Kim also weighs in on Joe Giudice’s new life in Italy, including his new girlfriend, and the current cast, we have a lot to say about you Jennifer Aydin, and season of RHONJ. Inside Jen Shah's Shahrested, Erika & Tom Girardi Divorce, Britney Conservatorship - w/ Attny Emily D. Baker

Jen Shah has been arrested. Shahrested! - as the kids say. Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi are getting a divorce. Erika and Tom Girardi have all sorts of legal battles they are currently engaged in. Britney Spears is in a conservatorship which has caused the world to chant the slogan, ‘Free Britney”. So many legal issues, so little time. Former LA Prosecutor Emily D. Baker, steps Behind The Rope to help us make sense of it all (despite the fact that David is an attorney, Emily has been call in as the expert!). Emily and David discuss the rumored events of how Jen Shah’s arrest went down - Federal Agents pulling over a van full of Salt Lake Housewives en route to Colorado - and the process needed to secure a Federal indictment and subsequent arrest. Emily then translates the federal charges into layman’s terms explaining what conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering actually means. Emily breaks down what happens now that Jen has plead non-guilty, what the next few weeks look like for her, the looming Trial in October, the “other” 10 indicted back in 2019, Jen Shah’s moniker as “top dog” in the alleged scheme, the rapid rate at which this case is moving and stability of her job on RHOSLC. Shifting gears, Emily highlights the key points in the Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi case - the divorce, the forced bankruptcy, the ongoing criminal investigation, Tom’s conservatorship and Alzheimer’s / Dementia claims and last, but certainly not least, Erika’s bizarre behavior on her Instagram account. Regarding both Jen and Erika, we discuss how likely it is that we will really see this all play out during next seasons RHOSLC and RHOBH respectively. Finally, while we have legal guru expert Emily D. Baker, we couldn’t help but end with a chat about the one and only Miss Britney Jean Spears - her conservatorship, the real chances of it ever ending, and what we predict the future looks like her. Thank you Emily. We must do this again soon! Ep 252RHONJ's Amber Marchese (Catching Up With / Current RHONJ Season)

E

Amber Marchese steps Behind The Rope. Amber pours herself some wine and takes us back to the beginning. The beginning for her, as it relates to The Real Housewives of New Jersey, is her past friendship with Melissa Gorga, prior to Melissa becoming a RHONJ. Way back when, prior to Joe Gorga, back when we were all young, Amber was friends with Melissa. She remembers when Melissa was first cast and what that did for her relationship with Sister In Law Teresa Giudice. We discuss how Amber first got involved in casting, what Jim thought about her potential on RHONJ, and how she was ultimately cast. Having never watched the show before, Amber didn't know what to expect with filming, editing, producer involvement, interacting with the other women and the after math of how life would change once the show aired. She talks about “The Twins” and why she thinks her Infamous Season Six of the hit franchise was “off”. We discuss the cardinal mistakes she thinks she made as a part of the show and how she thinks to survive on RHONJ it is important to be align with Mel or Tre. Speaking of Mel and Tre, Amber discusses the positives and negatives of each and what her current relationships with both are today. She gives a full critique of "On Display” and discusses her thoughts on other current RHONJ cast members Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs, Jen Aydin and Jackie Goldschneider. We also discuss her opinions on RHONJ past Kim D., Kathie Wakile, Siggy Flicker, and Danielle Staub. Amber opens up about the very public falling out with her stepson, the origins of that fallout and whether it related to his sexuality (Amber speaks her truth), the involvement of Lance Bass, his husband Michael Turchin, Andy Cohen, and her true thoughts on the LGBTQIA community. Amber discusses the effect this very public dispute has had on her family and the hate she receives both in person and on social media. We foreshadow the current RHONJ season as it plays out. Finally, Amber discusses the joy of being a cancer survivor and what is next for her in life. Ep 251Tiffany Rinehart - Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List Assistant (A Chat About It All!)

E

Tiffany Rinehart steps Behind The Rope. Ok, ok you probably know her as Kathy Griffin's assistant from that little show called My Life on the D-List. Now a Google employee, thanks to a phone reference by Kathy Griffin herself, Tiffany (now married and Tiffany Helzer) takes us back to the beginning. After graduating college, a huge NSYNC fan, her main goal in life was to meet Justin Timberlake. Instead, she did the next best thing, she got a job working with Kathy Griffin, which led her to meeting and becoming friends with Lance Bass. Her first day on the job involved picking Kathy up at the airport. That worked out well and the rest is history. Not so fast. Tiffany tells us how she was thrown into filming “My Life on the D-List” as a result of working for Kathy, how she eventually got used to the cameras and how surreal it was having grown up on Reality TV classics such as The Real World, The Hills and Laguna Beach. Tiffany tells us Kathy's biggest pet peeve and highest maintenance demands. Of course, there was that one time Tiffany accidentally shipped all of Kathy's clothes to the wrong address. Whops. Then there was that one time she had to have pizza delivered to Cher’s house in Malibu. When Cher called, Kathy went running all the way from her Hollywood Hills home to Cher’s Malibu compound and Kathy didn’t just go running for anyone. Speaking of Cher, David and Tiffany bond over Cher having both met and spent time with the Goddess IRL. As far as celebrities go, Tiffany sure met a lot during her tenure of working for Kathy. We do a fast round of gossip on each: Paris Hilton, Tyra Banks, Bette Midler, Suzanne Somers, and TI. We also discuss Tiffany’s “secret society” circle of Celebrity Assistant Friends which included not only Lance Bass, and the frequent game nights at his house, but also Christina Applegate, Goldie Hawn, and Queen Bethenny Frankel’s assistants. Of course being an assistant has it perks, flying first class, five star hotels, private planes and attending the NBC Upfronts where she met Teresa Giudice and The Manzo’s Caroline, Lauren and Albie. Of course, we discuss one of Kathy’s biggest comedic inspirations Joan Rivers and what traveling to London with Kathy and Joan Rivers was like. Finally, we discuss Kathy’s entanglement in “Cancel Culture”, how that ultimately led to her fall out with both Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, how Andy Cohen was a “Boss” to work for, and what being a guest on Watch What Happens Live (Tiffany was the Bartender) was really like. E

Laguna Beach’s Alex Murrel Johnson, otherwise know as Alex M, Steps Back Behind The Rope (our Part I sit down with Alex M aired January 13, 2021. Feel free to check it out if you haven’t already done so.) Alex wastes no time getting right back in to where we left off - talking about all things Laguna Beach and Reality TV. Alex opens up about what it was like to watch her friends on those “other” reality shows in the franchise, The Hills, The Hills: New Beginnings and Very Cavallari for years after she was no longer on Laguna Beach. Speaking of The Hills: New Beginnings, Alex discusses her thoughts about the show, including the casting of The O.C’s Miss Mischa Barton. Speaking of Very Cavallari, Alex divulges her thoughts about Kristen’s recent breakup with Jay Cutler and decision to end her successful reality show after only three seasons. Obviously, no discussion of Orange County would be complete without a nod to our favorite RHOC ladies. Alex discusses which of our fav Orange County Housewives she knows in real life and who she likes most on the show. Alex even has a funny tie to OG of the OC Lauri Peterson. We certainly did not see that coming. Orange Country really is just a small world, isn’t it? We also discuss that other current Adam DiVello blockbuster, Selling Sunset, how it feels and looks like The Hills and how everything Adam touches in the world of Reality TV turns to gold. Alex discusses other real life Southern California friends like Flipping Out’s Jeff Lewis. Do tell. She does. Alex ponders whether she will show her children Laguna Beach and what would she say if they came to her wanting to film a reality show while still in High School. Finally, we address the recent viral OG Season One Laguna Beach reunion that Lauren Conrad organized and why she thinks, Laguna Beach, Season Two, should also have been included. Ep 249Rachel Uchitel (on Putting Her Past Behind Her, RHONY, Wendy Williams Appearance & Seeking)

E

Rachel Uchitel steps Behind The Rope. Hot off her recent Wendy Williams appearance, yes we discuss how Wendy “came for her” and whether Wendy owes her an apology, Rachel is here to open up about it all. Let us start at the beginning. Yes, for those living under a rock, she was once the “face” of 911 and tied to Tiger Woods. Those are facts that can’t be denied, but there is much more to Rachel Uchitel than meets the eye. Okay fine, we chat about the recent HBO Documentary on his life, which she was a part of, the scary car crash which he just suffered, and how just for once it would be nice to have an interview where a certain someone’s name doesn’t come up. Rachel expresses her feelings about the fact that her past keeps coming up ten years later in interviews, explains the biggest misconceptions about her, dishes the real truth about her life that the media got all wrong and how hard it was, at its height, to live with intense media scrutiny once her relationship was outed. In other words, what it was like being trolled - before that was a thing. Now that we got that out of the way, we move on to all else that Rachel has going on in her life. As we said, there is much more to Rachel than, um, something that is ten long years in the past. Of course we chat with Rachel about those Real Housewives of New York City rumors about her joining the cast that surface every season - how true are they, how close has she come to joining, who she is closest with on the cast, what type of RHONY would she be, who would she fight with, and just what is the real deal with her past, present and future relationship with our fav RHONY playboy and friend, Harry Dubin. We come clean with Rachel about our sit down chat with her “frenemy” from Celeb Rehab, Janice Dickinson, some of the past boys she has been, either correctly or incorrectly linked to - yes Ryan Seacrest we are talking to you, and what exactly is her type. Rachel is now the face of popular dating website “Seeking”. She sheds light on how this position came about, the misconceptions associated with this website, how rewarding these “up front” and “honest” relationships can be, how sugar dating is different than escorting, how she is helping the company rebrand, how she hopes she can truly help people find love on line though his newly appointed partnership and, of course, which of our fav RHONY would likely find love on the website. @racheluchitelnyc @seeking @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope This Episode is brought to you by Apostrophe https://www.apostrophe.com/pod/VELVET/ Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 247Ladies of London's Marissa Hermer (Catching Up!)

E

Ladies of London’s Marissa Hermer steps Behind the Rope. Now living in Southern California, Marissa is here to tell it all. Marissa has stepped up to the plate to help feed her local hospital and medial workers who are working tirelessly during the crisis the world has been facing. This is nothing new for Marissa. She is used to feeding her community through the two restaurants she owns with her husband, The Draycott and Olivetta. She is not a stay at home and watch type of person so when her restaurants were temporarily closed due to Covid regulations, Marissa decided to dedicate her time by delivering food made in those restaurants, in her own car, to hospitals in need. This desire to help has turned into an official “You Give. We Cook. They Eat.” GoFundMe Program which is alive and thriving. Thank you Marissa. In other news, so just how did a good 'ole Southern California girl end up in the UK and on our Bravo TV screens in the hit show Ladies of London? After college, Marissa wanted to live in every different city that she could so she went to London planning to travel aound Europe. She ended up getting a job in the UK in PR and eventually met her husband through work. They married and opened a string of successful restaurants and nightclubs in London and throughout the UK. Flash forward and one day Bravo came knocking. Marissa explains how the show was originally not supposed to be a “housewives” type drama show (well that didn't work out too well now did it) but was supposed to be an entirely differently show regarding Americans assimilating into London life. Marissa explains her reservations in joining the show, the challenges of filming, reality versus real tv, and her reaction to what a huge cult classic Ladies of London is in BravoVerse. Of course, we discuss her cast mates The Carolines Stanbury and Fleming, The Juliets Angus and Montagu, Sophie, Caprice, Noelle, and Adela and the status of her relationships with each today. Finally, living right near Beverly Hills, we had to ask about her friendships and run ins with those other SoCal women we love so much, The Lisas Vanderpump and Rinna, Kyle, Teddy and so on and whether she would ever join RHOBH. . Ep 246Frank (Jr.) Catania - RHONJ (An Interview!)

E

Frankie Jr steps Behind The Rope. Yes, THAT Frank Catania. Son of the one and only Miss Dolores Catania from The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Welcome man. Home from Sacred Heart University for the weekend, Frankie is here to chat about it all. Ever wonder what it is like to be the child of one of The Housewives that we love so much? Well Frankie lets us in on that little secret. We discuss how Dolores originally got involved in filming and what it was like to all of a sudden, as a teenager, have cameras in his house filming his, his Mom’s, and Family’s every move. Frankie also discusses what it was like once the show came out and he was deemed “fan favorite” - how people at school reacted and what it was like when he went away to college being Dolores Catania’s son from RHONJ. Speaking of college, Frankie talks about his love of finance and how he plans to be “The Wolf of Wall Street” and take over the world once he graduates later this year. We discuss all the RHONJ drama that Frankie has been witness to the past several seasons, first hand, while filming, and discuss some of the more shocking moments that have occurred over the years. On a larger note, Frankie breaks down why he thinks the rest of the world is, for lack of better words, obsessed, intrigued, and mesmerized by New Jersey and why he thinks shows like Jersey Shore and RHONJ are so successful with viewers. He also discusses some of the misperceptions people have about the State of New Jersey based on some of these TV shows and is here to clear those stereotypes up. Of course we discuss the picture that went viral of him and Gia Giudice at The Prom, the current status of their relationship, whether one day he may call Teresa his mother in law and answer the one question on everyone’s mind, just what is Frankie’s type of woman. Ep 245Summer House's Danielle Olivera (A Fireside Chat)

E

Summer House’s Danielle Olivera steps Behind The Rope. Summer House, Season 5. Danielle is here to break down all the current season drama from other’s love triangles (thank you Luke, Ciara, Hannah), to her own entanglements (Hannah suggesting she kissed Luke only because Lindsay told her to), to the traumatic physical fight between her roommates seen last week. Speaking of her roommates, we chat with Danielle about just how different the process was this season in The Hamptons when filming Summer House actually became “Quarantine Summer House”. Danielle chats about why she decided to return as a full time cast member after “walking away” to a reduced role last year and how it felt to be back under different circumstances. She also pays homage to those who have been voted off the island - Lauren, Stephen, Jordan and Jules discussing just what it takes to be successful among this group of friends and predicts just how Ciara will fare with fans as the weeks roll on and we get to know Summer House’s newest roommate better. Of course we chat about all of her other roommates - Paige, Carl, Kyle, Lindsay and Amanda - and discuss where the status of each of these friendships is today. Might we see another kiss with Luke before the season ends? Will things heat up with her boyfriend who we have only met via Zoom (ahh, a sign of the times)? Will Kyle and Amanda make it through the rest of the season without another epic fight? Will Carl and Paige find their way back to the pantry? Will Hannah and Lindsay continue to stay clear of each other or is that just impossible living in the same house. These and many more questions answered before we finally play a game of “who would you rather” Summer House edition and sign off with Danielle. After all, she does have a day job to get back to. @danielleolivera @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope This Episode is brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 244RHOA's DeShawn Snow (on Season One, Current Season and Miss Nene Leakes)

E

The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’s DeShawn Snow steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Season One, OG RHOA, DeShawn Snow. Well it has been a minute, hasn’t it? We catch up with DeShawn on all she been up to since we last saw her on our TV screens. All includes going through a very public divorce from three time NBA finalist Eric Snow plus starting a successful life coach business while also continuing her day job as one of Sotheby’s top Real Estate Agents. Feeling totally nostalgic as this current season of RHOA rolls on, we chat with DeShawn about her involvement in the franchise - casting, filming, her edit, and how life changed as a result of being involved in the series. We also chat about her exit from the show, how producers thought she was “too normal” and “too nice" for the direction the show was going, how she found out she wasn’t coming back, and why so many housewives who come on our Pod just won’t admit that they were terminated. As we reminisce RHOA’s Freshman Season, we chat with DeShawn about her cast mates Kim Zolciak, Lisa Wu, Shereé Whittfield, and last, but certainly not least, Nene Leakes. Ep 243Louis York (on working with Britney Spears, Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, The Grammys, & Their New Music)

E

Louis York steps Behind The Rope. Claude Kelly and Chuck Harmony, that is. Between the two of these guys, they have worked with EVERYONE, and we mean everyone in the music business. By “worked with” we mean, written songs for, produced and everything else under the sun for a whose who amongst today’s top artists. Britney Spears. Let us just start there. Claude wrote “Circus" for Britney, the song, and album, that was recorded at a very crucial point in her life - right after her very public meltdown the result of which a conservatorship was formed appointing her father as guardian. Short of “Blackout”, Circus was the song/ album that launched her “comeback”. We delve deep into what it was like working with Britney during that time in her life, what Claude and Chuck think of the “Free Britney” movement and thought of the “Framing Britney Spears” movie. We also talk about working with Lady Gaga on her first album, “The Fame Monster”, Kelly Clarkson on her biggest hit to date “My Life Would Suck Without You”, Miley Cyrus on her original anthem “Party In The U.S.A.” and many others that we could not help but to ask about such as Rihanna, John Legend, The Backstreet Boys, Whitney Houston, and last but not least, Michael Jackson. The boys bond with David over their love of Madonna and the fact, yes it is a fact, that Prince is the biggest musical genius of our, or possibly any, generation! Of course, this dynamic duo is also here to chat about their brilliant new album, “American Griots” - the inspirations behind that, their musical idols, their love of the music from the 70’s and 80’s (we couldn’t agree more), and the message they hope is received from a listen. Finally, we chat about the lack of good music out today, the recent “virtual Grammys” and their stellar new girl group, The Shindellas. A hot new girl group? Count us in!!! @louisyorkmusic @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 242JACKIE TOHN (on GLOW, American Idol, Howard Stern, Joan Rivers, The Nanny, & Best Leftovers Ever!)

E

Jackie Tohn steps Behind The Rope. Best known for her breakout performance as Melanie “Melrose” Rosen on Netflix’s award winning, critically acclaimed masterpiece “Glow”, Jackie stops by to share it all. Originally from Long Island, NY, Jackie moved to LA at 18 to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. Early in her career Jackie appeared on many of our favorite shows such as “The Sopranos”, “Veronica Mars”, “Strangers With Candy”, not the least of which was “The Nanny”, in which she played a young Fran Drescher. Turns out Kristen Bell is a close friend and they actually have an animated series coming to Amazon in the very near future! There was also that one time she lived with Jessica Biel and her parents in Calabasas. So much to kvell about, so little time. Jackie opens up about those experiences and chats about some of her comedic and thespian role models that inspired her to break into the business of acting. To our delight, Joan Rivers and Howard Stern are two of these inspirations and Jackie has even been involved in The Howard Stern show in the past, which she is more than happy to discuss. Jackie also chats about her singing abilities, those abilities which led her to the semi finals on “American Idol” and Bravo’s very own “Platinum Hit” (Kara DioGuardi, we see you!). Jackie shares stories from behind the scenes on Glow, chats about the disappointment when Season 4 was indefinitely shelved due to lockdown and hints at what the future holds for the un-filmed season and possible Glow movie (what a wish!). Jackie is now the host of Netflix’s “Best Leftovers Ever”, we delve deep into this brilliant show, her own food preferences and culinary abilities with leftovers and what being a host of her own Netflix show means to her. @jackietohn @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 241AMY PHILLIPS (Our Fav Bravo Impressionist & Some of her Bravo "Friends")

E

Amy Phillips steps Behind The Rope. Yes, that Amy Phillips. Master impressionist of all of our favorite Bravo Housewives and Friends. Ok, let us back up. Amy had a whole career, and life, before falling into the BravoVerse. Originally from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Amy moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Comedy. Some of Amy’s early impressions were some of our favorite Iconic Ladies - Martha Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres and Gwyneth Paltrow, to name a few. One day Amy caught a glimpse of a little reality show called “The Rachel Zoe Project” and from there was hooked on Reality TV and Bravo. Amy reminisces on that early time in Bravo’s history and her love of some of the OG shows such as The Millionaire Matchmaker, Blow Out and Top Chef. Amy started the brilliant “Meet Amy Phillips” You Tube Page shortly thereafter with a now nostalgic impression of the one and only Rachel Zoe. Ba-na-nas. As a result of this impression, her phone rang. It was Watch What Happens Live calling to ask if they could use her Rachel Zoe impression on air during an upcoming episode. She said yes. #duh The next thing she knew she was The Bartender on Watch What Happens Live doing an impression of Ramona Singer FOR guest Ramona Singer. Amy now is the host of the stellar “Reality Checked” SiriusXM Radio Show on "Radio Andy” where she dishes on all of the latest Bravo tea and recaps all of our favorite shows. Amy discusses a plethora of current Bravo events with us here today such as the hiring of actresses into the RHOBH franchise (Denise, Rinna, The Richards Sisters, Garcelle and so on - good thing or bad thing?), all in the family (welcome Kathy Hilton!), this just past season of RHOC (as bad as everyone says. Elizabeth Vargas, anyone?), her favorite city in the franchise (did someone say #RHONY), and which Housewives should have never been hired (we will leave that one a mystery for when you listen to this episode). A real sport of a guest, Amy was kind enough to entertain our many impression requests with stand out appearances on this very episode from all of our favorite friends, including, but not limited to Bethenny Frankel, Lisa Rinna, Ramona Singer, Luann de Lesseps, Erika Jayne, Lisa Vanderpump, Dorit Kemsley, Dorinda Medley, Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Teresa Giudice, LeeAnne Locken, Lea Black, Kyle Richards and last, but certainly not least, Danielle Staub. E

The Real Housewives of D.C.’s Mary Amons steps back Behind The Rope. Mary is watching this season of The Real Housewives of Dallas. Yes RHODC is watching RHOD. Mary and David are also real life friends with many of the RHOD such as Jen Davis, D’Andra Simmons, and LeeAnne Locken. Mary and David talk about these friendships and what these women are like in real life when the cameras are not rolling. They also talk about what happens when you are friends with both LeeAnne and D’Andra, two Housewives who notoriously don’t get along. What happens if they both wanna hang and grab drinks the same night? Who do you choose? Mary also chats about this season of RHOD sharing her opinions on other newcomer Tiffany Moon, how important is it to eat chicken feet, how well Bravo dealt with Brandi Redmond’s "racially incentive”, for lack of a better word, viral video, and just how the franchise is holding up with the absence of OG LeeAnne Locken. Speaking of LeeAnne, Mary and David chat about whether Bravo did the right thing in letting LeeAnne go and is there a double standard considering other Bravo cast members still have a job. Of course, David didn’t let Mary go without hearing the RHODC gossip update. Mary fills us in on all the off camera drama and updates going on in her life as well as in the lives of Lynda Erkiletian, Cat Ommanney, Staci Turner and last, but certainly not least, Michaele Salahi Schon. Ep 238Claudia Wells - (on her starring role in Back To The Future & More!

E

Claudia Wells steps Behind The Rope. Best know for her role as Marty McFly’s girlfriend, “Jennifer Parker” in the 80s Classic “Back To The Future”, Claudia is here to tell it all. Claudia almost didn’t get a chance to star in the first film in this overly successful franchise due to a conflicting TV pilot. Fear not, alls well that ends well. She chats about how she was cast - yes it involved a once in a lifetime audition with the one and only Steven Spielberg, chats about how Eric Stoltz was the “original” Marty McFly, how one day Eric Stoltz was out, how another day Mr. Alex Keaton, legend Michael J. Fox was in and how, due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, she was back in. Claudia chats about what it was like to work with Michael J. Fox back in the day, their relationship throughout the years and the status of that relationship today. On a more serious note, we chat about her, and the industries, reaction to Michael’s announcement many years ago that he was a working actor, and a damn good one at that, living with Parkinson’s Disease. Claudia shares Hollywood stories of who she knows, has had runs ins with, both good and bad, and how the industry has changed throughout the years. Of course, all roads lead back to Housewives, we chat about the Reality TV she watches and what she thinks about the current crop of Real Housewives. Ep 237MIKE HILL (A.K.A - Mr. Cynthia Bailey) - A Sit Down Chat!

E

The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Mike Hill steps Behind The Rope. Mike Hill. Also known, to us BravoHolics as Mr. Cynthia Bailey. Before delving deep into what y’all wanna talk about, RHOA, yea we know, we chat with Mike about his childhood, illustrious career as a Sports Journalist, and stellar tell all book, “Open Mike” (yup, great title). Mike opens up about some of the traumas he has faced in life as detailed in the book, how writing this book was not only cathartic, but basically “saved his life”, and how through the writing process he was able to let go of childhood demons and become the man he is today. Deep we know, but really, it is a great book! Ok, now we can get into what y’all wanna chat about, The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Mrs. Cynthia Bailey Hill. We start at the beginning, their chance meeting on The Steve Harvey Show during a rapid round of “The Dating Game”. Cynthia chose Mike as her “date”, and the rest is history. We discuss how Mike feels about filming RHOA with wife Cynthia and how the transition from full time Sportscaster to part time Bravo Housewives Husband has been. We needed, and got, answers on what he really thinks about the RHOA women, the RHOA drama, the social media feuds which are part of any Housewives job, and whether he is ever shocked at just how far our favorite Peach Holders will go to make good TV. Of course, we also needed to chat about Miss Linnethia Leaks - the real reasons behind her sudden departure from RHOA, the cast's reactions, her lack of response to the Bailey Hill wedding invite, her current petition to boycott Bravo due to her claims of alleged racial improprieties and Mike’s predictions for the future of Nene’s friendship with Cynthia. Speaking of the Bailey-Hill wedding, we chat about Cynthia’s now infamous Bachelorette Party, Bolo, the male exotic dancer in the middle of it all, and just which of the Peach Holders we suspect “hooked up”, allegedly, with Mr. Bolo in all his glory (see Kenya, we are here to help you uncover the season's core mystery). We also chat about his nuptials to Cynthia - what we saw play out on RHOA, the behind the scenes details we did not see on TV, and the public outcry and reaction to holding a 250 person wedding during a global pandemic. By the end of this episode you will be able to answer that question. After a little chat with Jennifer about her Dallas heritage (born and raised), her stint as a Model (living in NYC at a young age with Eileen Ford), and career in Real Estate (it’s the family biz), we get into what y’all wanna talk about, The Real Housewives of Dallas. We chat with Jennifer about how she came to know this group of women and was ultimately cast on the show. Of course knowing this group of women has to do, in part, with her long time friendship with Kameron Westcott. After breaking down that friendship, we get all of her first impressions of and current opinions on her fellow RHOD cast mates D’Andra Simmons, Kary Brittingham, Brandi Redmond, Stephanie Hollman and Tiffany Moon. Jennifer opens up about going through a very public divorce shortly after being cast, how one adjusts to life in the public eye, and the rumors that her divorce and lack of participation from her then husband effected her “Full Time” status as a Housewife. We discuss whether Jen knows RHOD OG LeeAnne Locken - her relationship with her and thoughts on last season, LeeAnne’s exit from the show and how she feels this season is different in the absence of LeeAnne. Aimee sheds light on the current season tension between Jeremiah and Gus, answers the ever present “will they” or “won’t they” between Nilsa and Gus, discusses what a now pregnant Nilsa is really like, teases what we can expect to see in the upcoming weeks on Floribama Shore, and explains just how different Season Four will be from the rest. On another note, we couldn’t help but ask Amy about that other amazing, brilliant, equally as fun MTV show, Jersey Shore, discussing the obvious comparisons with Floribama Shore’s Northern Sister, who she has met from that cast and who her favorites are. Speaking of meeting people in the public eye, Aimee discusses her two time VMA’s experience, and some of her favs in attendance, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. Of course, Aimee informed us that even though this chat was conducted on a Monday at 9am, she was about to start her Momosas for the day. LeeAnne Locken steps back Behind The Rope. Welcome back Ms. Locken! (for anyone who hasn't listened to our initial chat with LeeAnne, feel free to check it out). LeeAnne discusses the two new Real Housewives of Dallas cast members, Tiffany Moon and Jennifer Davis. We also discuss her up and down, now up, relationship with Cary Deuber and her infamous one liners and iconic moments - they are just hands, it's not worth jail LeeAnne, and last, but certainly not least, your husband gets his D sucked at the Round Up. We discuss what LeeAnne thinks is the differences between Stephanie and Brandi, and whether she thinks her RHOD experience would have been different in the absence of one to the two. We discuss what other franchises she would love to be a part of, hint it is not what you would think. She discusses what it was like to get married on TV and what happened behind the scenes that we did not see. She discusses how being a Housewife is an all consuming job where your whole life becomes “about the show”. Finally, we once and for all put to bed the drama surrounding LeeAnne last season addressing the double standard she thinks exists between herself and some of her prior cast members regarding this issue, and who else she thinks should be held accountable, and for what, from the current RHOD cast. She gives details about her Real Housewives of Dallas exit, how she feels about the epic last season reunion and the “hot seat” she was put in, and answers the age old question, “would you ever go back”. Of course life goes on and for all those who haven’t been keeping up with LeeAnne’s Instagram, she fills us in on what she has been up to since we last saw her on our TV screens. @leeannelocken @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by http://www.fiverr.com/business (use code VELVET) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 231Arden Myrin (Real Housewives, The Bachelor, & her starring role on Insatiable)

E

Arden Myrin, actress and comedian extraordinaire, steps Behind The Rope. She may be an actress and comedian who has starred in some of our favorite TV shows, Orange Is The New Black, Grey’s Anatomy, Hot in Cleveland, 2 Broke Girls, Suburgatory and Teachers, but Arden is a Pop Culture Aficionado who loves Reality TV and Bravo. Boy did she ever come to the right place. Arden and David cover it all: why this past season of RHOC was off, why RHOSLC is a blockbuster addition to the franchise, why Mary Cosby, Sonja Morgan and Jen Shah need a good hug, why the last season of Below Deck was one of the best in a long time, why some of the classics like The Real World, Laguna Beach, Survivor, The Hills, and The Simple Life are some of the best Reality TV ever made, why The Swan and Love Island are so bad they were/are so good. Speaking of Survivor and Reality TV competition shows, Arden explains why Top Chef is one of her favorites. She also chats about how her and BFF Lance Bass applied for and will most likely be on the Next Season of The Amazing Race, whenever it is safe in the world for that little gem to come back. Say whaaaat? Lance Bass? Of course, once dropping a statement like that, we needed all the details from Arden, what her audition tape with Lance was like and what exactly CBS Producers said when Lance Bass and Arden Myrin applied for a coveted space on the show. #teamrazzledazzle Of course, we also chatted with Arden about her recurring role in Netflix’s Insatiable, all the controversy surrounding the show as well as what it was like to star alongside Queen Alyssa Milano. Last, but certainly not least, we talk Bachelor Nation and all that it entails, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, Bachelor Pad and so very much more. The more includes Arden’s brilliant, hilarious Podcast. “Will You Accept This Rose”!! Ep 230Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Chef Natasha De Bourg

E

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Chef Natasha De Bourg steps Behind The Rope. After a brief chat with Chef Natasha about her life before Bravo, a difficult childhood and troubled marriage, and Michelin-star restaurant (now ranked number one in the world) that she worked in, we get into what ya all wanna talk about, this current season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Natasha chats with us about how she was cast, what filming was like, and how she is handling watching herself each week on the TV as the show airs. Natasha is more than game to answer our rapid fire questions about all of her cast mates including seasoned Bravo vet Captain Glenn. Speaking of her cast mates, there seems to be something brewing in the coming weeks with Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher which we had to, and were more than eager, to ask Natasha about. Coming off a season of probably the best chef in Below Deck history, we chatted with Natasha about Chef Rachel - where they met and became friends -, other past Below Deck Chefs, and whether she felt pressure to fill Rachel’s shoes. Natasha explained the similarities and differences between being a cast member on Below Deck Sailing Yacht and a “real life” charter, pet peeves of colleagues as well as charter guests, who she would replace of her current season’s cast mates, the best and worst thing about the Bravo experience, any regrets she had, how it changed her as a person and last, but certainly not least, how she wants to be remembered from this season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Of course having Chef Natasha at our disposal, we chat about food - the best restaurants in the world, what foods are overrated, what foods are underrated, any food pet peeves she has, and how easy is she to go to dinner with when someone else is cooking. Yup, we cover it all! @living_vicarioulsy_through_me @behindvelvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by http://www.fiverr.com/business (use code VELVET) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 229Bachelor Nation's Blake Horstmann (on Rachel Lindsay, Chris Harrison, Matt James, & His Own Journey)

E

Blake Horstmann steps Behind The Rope. Bachelorette runner-up (Becca Kufrin’s season) and Bachelor in Paradise star, that is, Blake Horstmann. Blake stops by to discuss his experience within the Bachelor franchise. He chats about what it was like to be cast, film, the other guys in the house, and ultimately be rejected and not receive the final rose or a chance to propose to the then girl of his dreams. On a more serious note, Blake opens up about the mental health “issues” he faced as a result of the on-line bullying and hate he received after Paradise and just how bad things got. Fear not, Blake bounced back. Blake shares stories from his current dating life, what type of woman is his type and who “famous” has slid into his DMs. Of course, we took this opportunity to chat with Blake about all things current, and boy oh boy there is a lot going on in Bachelor Nation these days. We grade Matt James on how he did as The Bachelor, talk about Queen Victoria, discuss the “bullying” we have seen this past season amongst the women vying for Matt’s heart (Blake knows a thing or two about bullying), chat about which eliminations were the most shocking, the rumor of Katie as the next Bachelorette and who we think will receive the final rose, Rachael Kirkconnell, and if there will be a marriage proposal accompanying that rose. On that note, we address Rachael’s past “alleged racial” actions and social media posts, Bachelor Nation’s response to those actions and posts, Chris Harrison’s chat with Rachel Lindsay which caused him to “step aside” from his role as host within Bachelor Nation, whether Chris should have stepped aside, the public’s reaction to Chris’ statement and, now, cancellation, the involvement and responsibility of ABC, whether Chris will ever and should ever be back and, if not, looking ahead to the future. Like we said, there is a lot going on these days in Bachelor World and Bachelorette runner up and fan fav Blake Horstmann is here to help us make sense of it all. Let us not forget he himself has his own stellar Bachelor Nation Podcast, "Behind The Rose" - check it out. @balockaye.h @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by http://www.fiverr.com/business (use code VELVET) Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 228David Meister (on Lisa Rinna, Fashion Police, Project Runway, & His Best / Worst Dressed List)

E

Fashion Icon David Meister steps Behind The Rope. From a young age, David knew fashion was his calling, inspired by such fashion conscious TV shows like The Sonny & Cher show. Yes, Cher was his inspiration! Do we need to know anything else? Of course, like any other fashion forward lad, David made his way to New York City, then Los Angeles, and the rest is history. With signature collections in Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks, David has done it all. He has dressed them all as well. In this case all includes, but is not limited too, Olivia Palermo, Debra Messing, Whitney Port, Pamela Anderson, The Jane’s Lynch and Fonda, Sofia Vergra, Sharon Stone, and Julia Louis Dreyfus. We chat with David about what working with each of these Iconic women was like - the good, the bad, the other. David also chats about his dream to dress, Angelina Jolie, and that one time he was absolutely speechless when he met her. We also chat with David about Awards Shows, which is the most exciting to dress someone for and which is the biggest hassle. We also chat about some of the best and worst dressed celebrities - men and women. Of course, no chat with us leaves out Real Housewives. David has a new collection for HSN and let’s face it, when we think of HSN, we think of everyone’s favorite QVC icon, Lisa Rinna. We chat with David about what advice Rinna gave him as he ventures into this exciting new partnership with HSN and that time he dressed and attended the CFDA Awards with Rinna offspring and Fashion Icon, Miss Delilah Belle Hamlin!! Finally, we chat about Fashion in TV throughout the years - Fashion Police, Joan and Melissa Rivers and Project Runway. @david_meister @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by HelloFresh https://www.HelloFresh.com/12velvet (Use code 12velvet for 12 FREE Meals, including free shipping) Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 227JANICE DICKINSON (& Friends) - An Interview (Part I)

E

Janice Dickinson steps Behind The Rope. Let me repeat that. Janice Dickinson. Icon. Living Legend in the Flesh. The World’s First Supermodel. The Simon Cowell of America’s Next Top Model. Reality TV veteran from before reality TV was reality TV a la Oxygen’s “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency”. In true Janice fashion, she - DOES - NOT - HOLD - BACK! Of course, we begin with a chat about Janice’s early career where we talk about her then Supermodel colleagues Cindy Crawford, Elle Macpherson, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss and last, but certainly not least, Tyra Banks and the many men in her life for a moment, a moment plus, or what could have been a moment, Mick Jagger, Sylvester Stallone, Simon Le Bon. Speaking of Tyra Banks, Janice was front and center for the first many cycles of the juggernaut hit “America's Next Top Model” as the most outspoken judge. Notoriously anti-plus size model, Janice has never shied away from controversy or speaking her mind. Janice opens up about how she clashed with Tyra, discusses Tyra’s notoriously bad on set behavior and is kind enough, we asked, ok begged, to reveal secrets from behind the scenes of filming. As often happens here Behind The Rope, all roads lead to Housewives or, in this case, Housewives offspring and Kardashians. Janice shares her opinions on the current modeling industry and models like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Delilah Belle Hamlin, Bella Hadid, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Hailey Baldwin and Kaia Gerber - how do they compare to the Icons of yesteryear and have they earned, or instead bought, their way in with money and / or a famous last name. We also address the current “influencer”, for lack of a better word, culture and how anyone with abs and a great pair of t*ts can be insta-famous. While we had Janice, and lucky we are to have been graced by the presence of royalty, we had to ask about her current relationship with Tyra and if she feels differently all these years later. We also pay homage to all, and we mean all, those other Reality TV shows she has been a part of: Botched!, Celebrity Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and The Surreal Life. Did we mention the whole reason Janice was here was thanks to her good friends, literary agent Alan Nevins and celebrity chef Joey Santos. Not only do these guys know Janice well, they know everyone, and we mean everyone, in Hollywood and are talking about it on their stellar new Podcast aptly titled, “Two Guys From Hollywood”. On their Pod, they don’t dish, they serve. Literally, they serve food and drinks (thank you Joey) to their guests each week while they unpack never before heard tidbits from some of the entertainment business finest including, but not limited to, our BFFs from across the river Margaret Josephs and Dolores Catania and, well, yours truly (yup Behind The Velvet Rope appeared last week! - feel free to check it out). Thanks boys for all, especially for delivering Icon in the Flesh Miss Janice Dickinson Behind The Rope. Oh, and the best part of this foursome? We are just getting started. Ep 226D'Andra Simmons (RHOD - A Current Season Chat!!)

E

The Real Housewives of Dallas’ D’Andra Simmons steps Behind The Rope. Checking in from her home office, D'Andra is here to tell it all. D’Andra starts with the obvious - how she is feeling since the world heard via viral media that she had Covid and was in the Hospital. Once we chat about that and which Housewives and Bravolebrities she heard from during this scary time, we get into what everyone wants to chat about. This current season of RHOD. This current season, of course, includes a full discussion of cast mates Stephanie Hollman, Brandi Redmond, Kary Brittingham and Kameron Westcott. D’Andra explains who she thinks is having a hard season, who always gets by easy, how the season is going for her and what the status of each of these relationships is like today. We also chat about newbies Tiffany Moon and Jennifer Davis Long. D’Andra opens up about how and why she recommended Tiffany Moon and discusses the importance of minority representation on television. D’Andra discusses why Tiffany is a great addition to the cast and, on that note, what it takes to make a great housewife, the appeal of housewives in general and why people keep tuning in every week. We, once and for all, get a clear answer on what it means and takes to be a "society woman" in Dallas and just how important is a last name like Simmons in the Cowboy State. We also chat about Mama D, why America is so intrigued by their mother daughter relationship. D’Andra discusses who she knew before the show, the challenges of filming any reality show and the power of the edit. D'Andra discusses the allure of fame and who from RHOD she thinks is the most changed by the show. Of course, we get into the one thing missing from this current season of RHOD, LeeAnne Locken. D’Andra discusses how the show is doing without LeeAnne, how the women reacted to her departure, and how and why her departure has left its mark on this current season. Finally, we chat about upcoming “hints” of what is to come, this seasons’ feuds and what she expects will go down at the ever so close to be filmed Season Five reunion. All right, all right, we will stop rushing the rest of the season. Let’s just enjoy this chat with D’Andra for the moment and wait and see… @dandrasimmons @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by HelloFresh https://www.HelloFresh.com/12velvet (Use code 12velvet for 12 FREE Meals, including free shipping) Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 225Bachelor Nation's Mike Johnson (on his Journey, Matt James, Current Season & Clare & Dale)

E

Bachelor Nation Fan Fav, the one, the only Mike Johnson steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Mike is here to talk about his infamous Season 15 of The Bachelorette and time on Bachelor in Paradise. Bachelor Nation rejoice. Mike shares the full trajectory of his journey, his thoughts on Bachelorette Hannah Brown, what it was like to get so close and not be chosen, Paradise, and fellow Bachelorette contestant and also “fan fav” Tyler Cameron. Mike and David also chat about how likely is it to really find love on national TV, Mike's own love life, and the effect the Bachelorette had on that very love life. Speaking of Mike’s love life, we went there and had to bring up his rumored “relationship” with Pop Star and Icon Miss Demi Lovato. We also discuss Mike’s other relationship, his Bromance with now roommate, current Bachelor Nation bro, Connor Saeli. Connor even makes a cameo on this very Podcast here today! We would love to be a fly on the wall in that apartment, but this is definitely the next best thing. Mike opens up on what it is like to almost have been the “First Black Bachelor” and the emotional mind F of almost being chosen, to not being chosen, to the fans reactions, to what ABC explained as their reason for not being chosen. Of course, we discuss the current season of The Bachelor and give a full report of how we think our current heartthrob Matt James is doing. We also chat with Mike about how he felt when Matt James was chosen, instead of him, as the “First Black Bachelor” and how it is about time! Speaking of the current season of the ABC powerhouse reality show that does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon, we discuss Matt James’ remaining three, Queen Victoria - is she for real or just looking for Instagram followers, and just who do we think will be asked to accept that fateful final rose. We also discuss the recent breakup, and now makeup (?), heard throughout Bachelor Nation of Dale Moss and Clare Crawley as well as Mike’s stellar Podcast “Talking It Out” with Bachelorette Winner Bryan Abasolo. @mike_johnson @talkingitoutbn @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef Bonus Episodes Available at - https://www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope Brought to you by HelloFresh https://www.HelloFresh.com/12velvet (Use code 12velvet for 12 FREE Meals, including free shipping) Brought to you by Better HELP https://www.betterhelp.com/velvetrope Merch Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Ep 224Bachelor Nation's Michael Garofola (on Chris Harrison, Cancel Culture, Recent Attack, Friend Clare & More)

E

Bachelor Nation’s Michael Garofola steps Behind The Rope. First things first, we chat with Michael about his recent “run-in” with a security guard. Michael chats about how he was assaulted and "had his phone smashed” as a result of this run in. Michael opens up about the circumstances surrounding this run in - what caused it, how it played out, the resulting injuries and the charges he has since pressed as a result. Once we make sure Michael is alright, we delve deep into what ya all wanna chat about, Bachelor Nation. Michael chats about his experiences on the “often underrated” reason of the Bachelorette he was on with Desiree Hartsock. Proving that you can really find love on TV, she is still married to and has a child with final rose holder Chris Siegfried, Michael breaks down how he felt when he was eliminated by Desiree and chats about the behind the scenes shenanigans of being on a show in the Bachelor Nation empire. Those shows also include Bachelor In Paradise and Winter Games. We discuss both. Speaking of Winter Games, we chat about one of Michael’s co-stars, the one on everyone’s minds and lips, Clare Crawley. We discuss the breakup with Dale and the current pictures of the two of them back together (?) that recently surfaced on line. Of course, we could not let Michael escape our clutches without discussing our current Romeo, Matt James, and how his season is going. On that note, we address Rachael Kirkconnell’s past “alleged racial” actions and social media posts, Bachelor Nation’s response to those actions and posts, Chris Harrison’s chat with Rachel Lindsay which caused him to “step aside” from his role as host within Bachelor Nation, whether Chris should have stepped aside, the public’s reaction to Chris’ statement and, now, cancellation, the involvement and responsibility of ABC, whether Chris will and should be back and what the future looks like for Bachelor Nation.
