BaconBit: Beckinsale Wears Baconsale
What? Two BaconBits in two weeks? Yes, you're that lucky! And so are we here at Baconsale, because the lovely Kate Beckinsale not only wore the shirt that we gave her to her (all thanks to our ridiculous Salt Lake Comic Con GoFundMe campaign), but she posted about it on social media. So, once again, get ready for three grown men to squee like a bunch of fangirls. You can hear about the original encounter here: https://baconsale.com/…/baconbit-baconsale-meets-beckinsale/

Episode 60: After These Messages, We'll Be Right Baconsale
Grab yourself a bowl of breakfast cereal and plop yourself down in front of the TV, it's time to talk about Saturday morning cartoons! From The Flintstones to Pokémon, Joel and Kent are picking winners from beloved animated television shows of their childhood for a variety of categories. Plus, Jacob managed to find a cartoon quiz online to test the other two (since he was too busy farming as a child to watch things like Animaniacs and DuckTales). Feel free to play along, sing along and yell along with us as we dive deep into the land of nostalgia on this episode of Baconsale!

BaconBit: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Review
Cowabunga, dudes! Much like Michael Bay giving us a reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that we didn't ask for, we're giving you a review of this TMNT sequel that you didn't ask for! Haven't seen the movie? No problem! In fact, some members of Baconsale would prefer you DIDN'T see this movie. Anyway, the first 10 minutes of this BaconBit are spoiler free. After that, Kent and Joel are going to openly share their feelings about this movie in a calm and respectful manner. Just kidding, they yell a lot. Enjoy!

Episode 59: Three X-Men and a Little Ranking
Let's go, bub! It's time for Baconsale to rank all eight of the X-Men films. However, it seems that Kent's and Joel's mutant ability is to disagree on which movie belongs where on their ranking charts. Joel angers Kent, Kent betrays Joel and Jacob just sits there and laughs at the two of them -- just like the supervillain he is. We also briefly review X-Men: Apocalypse. Don't worry, it's a spoiler-free review. We don't even mention the part where Jean Grey is captured by Dumbledore and imprisoned in a cage in his office.

Episode 58: Sonic Bomb! The Problem with Video Game Movies
From Super Mario Bros. to The Angry Birds Movie, Hollywood just can't seem to make a decent movie that is based on a video game. Therefore, in this episode, Baconsale is talking about why most video game film adaptations fail both critically and commercially. We also talk about the few hidden treasures in the vast wasteland of video game movies. They're not good movies, per se, but at least they don't make you want to gouge your eyes out. Plus, as an added bonus, Kent and Joel both pitch ideas for new films based on video games -- one of which is actually good. So whether you're a fan of Nintendo, Sega, PlayStation. Xbox or PC gaming, you're sure to enjoy us mocking the terrible movies based on the games you love.

Episode 57: The Psychology of Superheroes - Part 2
It seems that our time is up with Dr. Matt Woolley as the Baconsale crew finishes their discussion about superheroes with our favorite psychologist. In this, part two of the psychology of superheroes, we talk about specific Marvel and DC Comics characters and let Dr. Matt psychoanalyze a few of them, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine. Along the way, you may even learn a little about yourself, as well. We learned that Joel slurs his speech if he records too late and that Kent believes that great power requires great looks.

Episode 56: The Psychology of Superheroes - Part 1
Our favorite clinical psychologist, Dr. Matt Woolley, is back! And this time Baconsale is talking to this educated man with a Ph.D. about our culture's current obsession with comic books and superhero movies. Well, Kent and Joel do most of the talking. Jacob is nursing a sore mouth, so he remains largely silent. So press play and find out which graphic novels Dr. Matt likes, why DC fanboys hate Marvel fanboys and what your favorite superhero/supervillain may say about you on this episode of Baconsale.

BaconBit: Captain America: Civil War Review
Yes, we know that Baconsale Episode 4 is already titled "Civil War," but that title was actually referring to the war of opinions that Kent and Joel had regarding Avengers: Age of Ultron. This episode features our actual review of Captain America: Civil War. And yes, the first 15 minutes are spoiler free. Has Kent finally found a Marvel movie that he likes? Is this movie Disney enough for Joel? Does Jacob agree with Steve Rogers, or is he Team Iron Man? It's time to find out. Pick a side and press play!

Episode 55: The Mother of All Shows
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there! This episode is dedicated to you! From June Cleaver to Cersei Lannister, Baconsale is discussing the best and the worst maternal material that TV and film have to offer. Kent and Joel will answer such questions as who is the most inspirational fictional mother? Who is the most manipulative? Who is the scariest movie mom? Who is the funniest? Plus, along the way, Kent, Joel and Jacob discuss stories about their own mothers, as well. If you love your mom, you'll press play and listen. And, if you don't, press play just to spite her. Episode 54: 2016 Summer Movie Preview
Now that Batman v. Superman is behind us, it's time to look forward to this summer's films. Kent and Joel discuss their most anticipated movies being released between May and August of 2016. Plus, they also talk about films they want to bomb at the box office this summer. SPOILER ALERT: Jacob doesn't approve of any of their choices. Will Kent choose any movies that aren't indie hipster flicks? Will Joel actually see any of these movies while they're in theaters? Will the guys talk about Suicide Squad without mentioning Margot Robbie? There's only one way to find out -- press play!

Plus, along the way, we learn a thing or two about social media in general. So press play and listen to four characters talk about the world of 140 characters!

Episode 51: Everyone's a Critic
You know it's hard out there for a critic. In this episode of Baconsale, Kent, Joel and Jacob discuss contemporary film criticism and its effect on modern society's opinion regarding media arts. Wow! That sounded really grown up and boring. Let's try that again: In this episode, Kent spends the whole time talking about himself and bashing on Rotten Tomatoes while Joel makes fun of him for it. There. That's much better. Give it a listen and then let us know your opinion in the comments section below because, as we all know, online comments sections are where the most reasonable and enlightening discussions happen.

BaconBit: Baconsale Meets Beckinsale
Yes, thanks to your generous donations, Kent, Joel and Jacob were actually able to meet Kate Beckinsale at Salt Lake Comic Con! If you haven't seen it, don't worry, you can still listen to the first 20 minutes -- it's completely free of spoilers. After that, the gloves and the cowls come off and we openly discuss the movie and its plot points. Will Kent, the DC fan boy, finally be satisfied with a superhero ensemble movie? Will Joel, the Man of Steel basher, enjoy this Zack Snyder sequel? Will Jacob, the guy who watched The Force Awakens, be able to express his opinion of this movie? Press play and find out!

Episode 49: Do You Even Sport, Bro?
What happens when you quiz a couple of movie geeks on sports trivia? You're about to find out. It's time for you to feel like a champion compared to Kent and Joel as they fumble around for the answers to a relatively simple sport-themed quiz created by our returning special guest, Mark. Episode 48: Best & Worst Superhero Casting
Instead of judging movies in this episode, Baconsale is judging casting directors...and each other. Kent and Joel have each created a list of the top five and bottom five superhero casting choices. Who does Joel think would make a good Catwoman? Does Kent like Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman? Does Jacob think that Nicholas Cage would have been the better choice? Press play and find out! BaconBit: And the Winner Is...
Now that the Oscars are over and people are done talking about it, Joel and Kent are finally ready to discuss the 88th Academy Awards. And since we made predictions three episodes ago, it's time to see who won the Baconsale Oscar ballot contest, too. SPOILER ALERT: It's not Jacob. He didn't win. He didn't even make any real predictions on the show. Nope. No matter what he says may or may not have happened outside of the show, he did not win our official Baconsale Oscar predictions contest. No, he did not. And here is the link for our GoFundMe campaign to help us meet Kate Beckinsale at Salt Lake Comic Con: https://www.gofundme.com/p5qtqjpj

Episode 46: Sitcom Reboots? You Got It, Dude!
Now that you've finished binge-watching Fuller House on Netflix, it's time to cut it out and join Baconsale as we talk about possible reboots of more of your favorite sitcoms from the 80s and 90s. Kent and Joel will pitch their ideas and it's up to you, The Listener, to decide whether these reboots get greenlit or not. Plus, as an added bonus, Jacob has prepared a quiz of your favorite TV show theme songs. And yes, we really did create a GoFundMe page so we can meet Kate Beckinsale at Salt Lake Comic Con: https://www.gofundme.com/p5qtqjpj What? You haven't pressed play yet? How rude!

Episode 45: It Was the Best of Pictures, It Was the Worst of Pictures

In this episode, we're bringing our top five Best Picture picks and our bottom five Best Picture picks to the table. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we argue and sometimes Jacob explains WAY too much of the plot. Join us as we guide you through the minefield of Oscar-winning films and let you know which ones to watch and which ones to avoid -- because, you know, the Academy doesn't always get it right.

Episode 44: And the Nominees Are...
Kent and Joel go full film geek as they make their predictions for the 88th Academy Awards. Sometimes they go with their heart and pick what they want to win, other times they go with their head and pick what they think the Academy will choose and sometimes they just make wild guesses based on how the title sounds. Even if you're not a fan of the Oscars, we do our best to entertain, even when discussing the throwaway categories that no one really cares about. We've also included an In Memoriam section, where we leave out important and relevant people, just like the real Academy Awards!

Episode 43: How to Lose a Listener in 10 Days
You wanted Baconsale to show off its softer side and discuss romantic movies? As you wish. Kent and Joel will have you at hello as they talk about their favorite rom-coms, rom-zom-coms and dramas. Episode 42: Ranking Live-Action Disney (Part 1)
Let's get together, yeah, yeah, yeah and talk about live-action Disney movies. From The Shaggy Dog to Cinderella, we've hand-selected a variety of non-animated Disney movies to discuss and put into tiers. On the way, we hit some detours regarding Kent's disturbing upbringing and Joel's obsession with nannies. We couldn't fit all of the live-action Disney films into one show, though, so we're going to have to do a part 2 someday soon. So grab on to your bedknobs and your broomsticks, dig up Old Yeller and press play 'cause, it's a jolly holiday with Baconsale!

It's vampires versus aliens, demons versus conspiracies and mini skirts versus pantsuits in this small screen showdown!

Episode 40: 2016 Prediction Smorgasbord
Look into the crystal ball. The boys of Baconsale will predict the future of pop culture for you. The results might be as foggy as a Magic 8 Ball, but you can always ask again later. In this episode, Kent and Joel discuss what they're looking forward to in 2016, and we make some predictions as well -- some more ridiculous than others. We talk about movies, TV, video games, restaurants, celebrities and more. Be prepared, though, Jacob actually shows some emotion in this episode, which surprises all of us. Crack open that fortune cookie and let's see what's in store for 2016!

Episode 39: Best & Worst Movies of 2015-ish
We're back! And we're starting season two of Baconsale by discussing the best and worst movies of 2015. BaconBit: Krampus Review
Baconsale is very excited to review the most anticipated film of December 2015! No, not that one. No, not that one, either. We're reviewing Krampus! Remember Krampus? Krampus is the movie that Kent, Joel and Jacob have mentioned in every episode since September. It's the story of a half-man, half-goat demon that terrorizes people who stop believing in Christmas. If that doesn't fill you with the holiday spirit, what will? Krampus! Don't worry if you haven't seen Krampus yet – the first ten minutes are spoiler-free.

Listen and let us know if you agree with Joel's list, with Kent's list or if we're wrong altogether. If you don't like it, you can make like Arbor Day and leave. Final track link

Episode 34: Tournament of Villains (Part 2)
It's time to decide which bad guy will be left standing after the dust settles in our Tournament of Villains! In this episode, we finish what we started as we plow through three rounds of match-ups. You'll hear us debate The Joker vs. Lex Luthor, Magneto vs. Galactus and Darth Vader vs. Dark Helmet. And, if you listen very closely, you might hear the moment when Kent gets slightly agitated at one of the decisions. It's subtle, but it's there. Plus, just like last time, you can print off your own bracket at Baconsale.com and play along with us at home! Final Track here!

Episode 33: Tournament of Villains (Part 1)
Heroes get all the glory, it's time for the villains to have some fun. In this episode, we pit the baddest of the bad guys against each other in a fight to the death (a la The Hunger Games) to see who comes out on top. When Kent and Joel agree (which does happen on occasion), the victorious villain automatically advances to the next round. Should they disagree, it's up to Jacob to decide who made the best argument. Part 1 includes such epic battles as Poison Ivy vs. The Shredder, T-1000 vs. Ultron and Darth Maul vs. the Balrog.Plus, you can print off your own bracket at Baconsale.com and play along with friends and family at home!

Let the sky fall! It's time for a new Bond-themed episode of Baconsale. In this mini-episode, we give our review of Spectre, the new James Bond film. Don't worry, the first 10 minutes are spoiler-free. However, after that, I'm afraid you'll find our conversation to be much more. . .open. Now that we've introduced the BaconBit, Mr. Bond, you've probably guessed our next step: WORLD DOMINATION! And there's nothing you can do to stop it.

Episode 31: All Your Fanbase Are Belong to Us
As world-famous podcasters, Baconsale knows what it's like to have a crazy fan (thanks for listening, listener)! In this episode Kent, Joel and Jacob talk about the most annoying fandoms in the entertainment industry. We discuss whether we'd rather sit next to a Twi-Hard or a Belieber on a long flight, and which fanbase is more likely to attack when provoked. This is one Whopper of a show that you can enjoy Now & Later.

Episode 28: The Psychology of Fear
Do you know why you're afraid when you're alone? We do. . .we do. . . This episode of Baconsale features our very special guest, Dr. Matt Woolley. Dr. Matt is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology and he's a professor at the University of Utah. . .so of course we had to ask him about movie monsters. We try and find out what makes Freddy tick, what's going on behind Jason's hockey mask and if there's any chance of rehabilitation for Michael Myers. Along the way, we discuss why people enjoy being scared, if watching horror movies can mess you up, and Joel, Kent and Jacob reveal some of their deepest and darkest fears. Joel, Kent and Jacob discuss what films they are excited for (aside from Star Wars 7) and surprise each other with their choices (except for The Force Awakens, we all knew that was coming). Let us prepare you for the fall/winter/end of 2015 (and Star Wars), Baconsale-style! WARNING! Kent says a naughty word in this episode! We're not going to repeat it here, but it's part the title of a Quentin Tarantino movie that rhymes with "Dinglourious Dasterds."

Episode 25: Why Doctor Who?
Geronimo! In this episode, Baconsale dives head-first into the world of Doctor Who. Don't watch Doctor Who? Fantastic! We're talking to those that love The Doctor, those that want to exterminate The Doctor and everyone in between. We attempt to explain how this low-budget British television program became a pop culture phenomenon, and where those that are interested can begin their journey (with or without a companion). So pin a piece of celery on your lapel, grab some Jelly Babies, step into the TARDIS and don't worry if you don't understand any of the references in this sentence -- we'll walk you through it. Episode 24: The M. Night Show-malan
If your sixth sense is tingling, then it's probably one of the signs that there's a new Baconsale episode coming to your unbreakable village. This week we're talking about the works of M. Night Shyamalan, and trying to figure out when and how he went from being one of the most acclaimed directors in Hollywood to a punchline in a joke about bad movies. PLOT TWIST! Since Jacob is on vacation, Emily Mackay, from the War Machine vs. War Horse podcast is here to help Kent and Joel argue with each other.

Episode 23: Cable, IMAX, Erase
We have to make some tough decisions in this episode of Baconsale as we play "Cable, IMAX, Erase." It is a totally original game that has nothing to do with that other game you're thinking of right now... In this game, Jacob gives Kent and Joel three different movies, and they have to choose which on they'd watch on repeat, which one they'd watch only on special occasions and which one they'd erase from existence. Listen to Joel and Kent struggle (while Jacob laughs sadistically) as they must make the dreaded Sophie's Choice with some of their favorite films. These truly are some of the hardest and impactful decisions they'll ever make! Maybe you should help bear the weight and play along.

Episode 22: Fast Food for Thought
What are you eating today? It's time for Baconsale to think outside the bun and talk about fast food in a super-sized episode. Joel and Kent are going to review, rank and rate your favorite hot eats and cool treats. This finger lickin' episode is so fresh, you'll be singing "I'm lovin' it!" in no time! You may not agree with us on our ratings, but that's fine -- have it your way! After all, America runs on conflict. WARNING: While this discussion topic may induce hunger, certain parts of this episode should NOT be listened to while eating. Thanks a lot, Kent!

Episode 21: Straight Outta Pork and Beans
Let's get musical, musical! No, we're not talking Andrew Lloyd Webber versus Stephen Sondheim (though that could be a fun topic for a future show), we're talking about which rock, pop and country stars deserve their own biopic. Kent and Joel pitch biographical films about famous musical artists and it's up to Jacob (yes, that Jacob) to decide whether he would green-light the movies. At the very least, we hope to be more entertaining than Ray.

Episode 20: Tournament of Heroes (Part 2)
Round 1 of our Heroes Bracket took up an entire episode, but we manage to get through rounds 2, 3 and 4 in this, part two, of our Tournament of Heroes. In this debate, should Kent and Joel agree on a winner, they automatically advance. However, if they disagree on who would be victorious, it is up to Jacob to decide who moves on to the next round. This episode sees epic battles such as Captain America versus Iron Man, Optimus Prime versus the Terminator and Kent's informed opinion versus logical reasoning. And yes, in the end, we will declare one of these heroes the ultimate winner. Plus, you can print off your own bracket at Baconsale.com and play along with us at home.

Episode 19: Tournament of Heroes (Part 1)
Admit it, you've wondered at least once in your life "Who would win in a fight, Gandalf or The Silver Surfer?" So we decided to put some random hero match-ups to the test. Jacob created a bracket of sci-fi and fantasy heroes, and it's up to Joel and Kent to debate and decide who wins each bout. Since we had approximately 50 heroes to discuss, we only got through the first round this time around, but we'll be back to finish it off next week. BONUS: You can print off your own Baconsale heroes bracket at Baconsale.com and play along/argue with us!
