Creating Safe and Predictable Learning Environments with Mitch Weathers

Join us for an engaging conversation with Mitch Weathers as we delve into the crucial topic of creating safe and predictable learning environments. Mitch, an expert in the field and a "Best Selling" book, shares insights and practical strategies for educators to establish environments that foster trust, security, and optimal learning conditions for students. From implementing proactive measures to address behavioral challenges to promoting positive relationships and routines, this episode offers valuable guidance for educators seeking to cultivate safe and supportive classroom environments. Tune in to gain actionable tips and inspiration for enhancing the learning experience for all students! About Mitch Weathers: Mitch became a gifted teacher because he was a mediocre student. Mitch rarely felt comfortable in the classroom. In fact, it took him 7 years for him to graduate from college. Choosing to become a teacher, Mitch was fortunate enough to experience school as if it was happening all around him. He was unsure how to jump into his learning with confidence. There is a loneliness to experiencing your education as a passive object as opposed to an active subject. From the moment he entered the classroom Mitch relied on his personal experiences as a learner. He recognized that what we teach, the content or curriculum, is secondary. We must first lay the foundation for learning before we can get to teaching. Mitch designed Organized Binder to empower teachers with a simple but research-backed strategy to teach students executive functioning skills while protecting the time needed for content instruction. The secret is found in establishing a predictable learning routine that serves to foster safer learning spaces. When students get practice with executive functions by virtue we set them up for success. In this dynamic conversation, you'll gain a deep understanding of how these functions shape students' academic and personal development. Learn how enhanced executive functions can positively influence academic performance and overall well-being, and explore how his new book provides an invaluable resource for educators seeking to unlock the potential of their students. Mitch's expertise is not just theoretical; it's grounded in the tangible improvement of students' lives. Don't miss this compelling episode that promises to reshape your perspective on education and equip you with the tools to make a real difference in the lives of your students. In this episode, we discuss: Executive functioning skills (EFs) modeled in the classroom The power of organization, shared routine, and habits And his new book “Executive Functions For Every Classroom” Pre-Order this wonderful NEW book, Executive Functions For Every Classroom: https://organizedbinder.com/book/ About Mitch Weathers: Mitch became a gifted teacher because he was a mediocre student. 248. Mastering Executive Functioning Skills: Featuring Mitch Weathers

Welcome to this week's dynamic episode of "Aspire to Lead" with the CEO and founder of Organized Binder, Mitch Weathers. In this compelling installment, Mitch delves into the vital topic of executive functioning skills and their profound impact on students' success. Join us as we explore the significance of executive functioning skills and how they play a pivotal role in enhancing students' learning experiences and overall development. Mitch shares valuable insights on how these skills can empower students to excel academically, manage their time effectively, and navigate challenges with resilience. If you're passionate about fostering a supportive learning environment and empowering students to reach their full potential, this episode is a must-listen. Tune in as Mitch inspires us with practical strategies to nurture executive functioning skills, ensuring that our students thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and inspiration to lead with purpose and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners. Subscribe now to "Aspire to Lead" and be a part of our journey in creating positive change through education. In this episode, we discuss: How Executive functioning skills (EFs) create student success Skills Come first, content comes next The power of shared routine and habits And his wonderful program, Organized Binder About Mitch Weathers: Mitch became a gifted teacher because he was a mediocre student. 244. From Struggle to Strength: Featuring Amber Calderon

In this week’s Aspire to lead episode, Amber Calderon shares about the importance of recovering emotionally over the summer and establishing health work boundaries to protect our emotional wellbeing. In this episode, we discuss: Creative professional development and communities Accelerating learning Are you emotionally safe at work? And about Classroom Champions! About Amber Calderon: Amber attended Baylor University with a degree in Psychology & Rhetoric and Argumentation. During that time I worked alongside the Dean of Psychology as his research assistant. She decided to get certified to be a teacher and taught elementary for four years! During that time, Amber managed the suicide hotline and was a Sexual Assault Crime Victims Advocate for 6 years. While teaching, she quickly realized how lonely the profession was in addition to lack of resources. Amber started creating her own lesson plans and when searching Pinterest, discovered that there was a whole community of teachers just like her – wanting to make connections and build a digital community. These teachers were also making money from their lesson plans! She used my Psychology degree to leverage marketing tactics and made more than my teaching salary in my first year teaching! This caught the eye of the Founder of Nearpod…and thus her corporate journey began.
