The opioid epidemic continues to be problematic across the country with increases in deaths from addiction leading to overdose. In an effort to minimize use of opioids postoperatively, the ERAS society developed guidelines and protocols pre-,intra-, and postoperatively to enhance recovery from surgical procedures while limiting use of opioids.
