Little L’s, Big impact: The Importance of Leading from Behind

Leadership is often associated with a leader taking charge at the frontline. Oftentimes we describe these types of leaders as strong, inspirational, or courageous, however, the biggest impacts don’t always come from the individuals leading the charge. Although they sometimes go unrecognized, “Little L” leaders can be found scattered within the group where they work behind the scenes to empower their teammates and steer them towards success. That is why the concept of “leading from behind” is such a crucial component of ensuring effective team dynamics. If you apply this philosophy to the healthcare landscape, it becomes apparent that the nature of our profession allows pharmacists to act as a prime example of how this leadership style can be effectively utilized.
