Yet right here in the US, in your local malls, colleges, and even churches, could very well be members of the high-control cult from South Korea known as Shincheonji aggressively attempting to recruit people. They also pose on social media sites, even dating apps, they will even lie and deceive people in their recruitment efforts. The Book of Abraham is considered to be sacred scripture by mainstream Latter-day Saints today. Joseph Smith claimed that the Egyptian papyri from which the Book of Abraham had come was the authentic, autograph original of Abraham himself, detailing his sojourn in Egypt. But through a series of events, those original papyri which were thought to have been lost, resurfaced in 1966 in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. It is now widely acknowledged, even by some in the mainstream LDS Church, that Smith's translation was not in accordance with what the papyri actually described. We continue with our July 2024 presentation from Eric Johnson of Mormonism Research Ministry (www.MRM.org) about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. The Book of Judges says that in the days when Israel had no king, "all the people did whatever seemed right in their own eyes" (Jdg. 17:6; 21:25). It is a perennial problem for man. Without recognizing or serving Jesus as King of kings and Lord of lords, people will generally do whatever they think is right in their own eyes. For centuries Western natural philosophy, theology and the scientific tradition widely accepted that the physical cosmos and life within it was the creation of God. In this episode, Watchman Fellowship president, James Walker, concludes his interview with Andre Traversa, former advocate of the Urantia Book. This mysterious and controversial book was allegedly communicated by numerous spiritual or celestial beings between 1924 and 1955. The book includes a reports on the "missing years" of the life of Jesus and describing extraterrestrial life on other planets in an elaborate cosmology which includes the Central and Superuniverses. Two of the main human sources of the Urantia Book are the former Seventh Day Adventist couple, William and Lena Sadler. The Urantia Book is huge (about 2,000 pages) and was reported to have physically materialized from spiritual sources in periodic installments over three decades. The book belongs to a genre of spiritual literature sourced from occult methodologies such as automatic writing, channeling, Ouija (spirit) boards and the "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Casey, This week and next, we discuss the possible sources of the Urantia Book and document some of the dangers inherent in seeking truth through such sources. James Walker, president of Watchman Fellowship, interviews Andre Traversa, former advocate of the Urantia Book. This mysterious and controversial book was allegedly communicated by numerous spiritual or celestial beings between 1924 and 1955. The book includes a reports on the "missing years" of the life of Jesus and describing extraterrestrial life on other planets in an elaborate cosmology which includes the Central and Superuniverses. Two of the main human sources of the Uranta Book are the former Seventh Day Adventist couple, William and Lena Sadler. The Urantia Book is huge (about 2,000 pages) and was reported to have physically materialized from spiritual sources in periodic installments over three decades. The book belongs to a genre of spiritual literature sourced from occult methodologies such as automatic writing, channeling, Ouija (spirit) boards and the "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Casey, This week and next, we discuss the possible sources of the Urantia Book and document some of the dangers inherent in seeking truth through such sources.
