Stop Adani Roadshow Canberra - 2017 - 03 - 30 BTL
EThe Adani company wants to open the biggest coal mine ever built in Australia, in the Gallilee Basin in Queensland. In a time where climate change is upon us, the corporation wants to dig up and burn a stupendous amount of coal - well and truly taking us over the edge and into full-on climate change. The Australian Government is very keen for the mine to go ahead, it has granted many of the necessary approvals, wants to give a $900,000,000 loan to Adani to build a railway line, and is promising free, unlimited water for the mine to pollute. If you thought the Standing Rock protests against the Keystone XL pipeline in the USA were a good idea, then you should be preparing for our own Australian version, coming soon in Queensland. When the Stop Adani Roadshow came through Canberra, we caught it for you. From the sovereign Union website - http://nationalunitygovernment.org/ "As First Nations Peoples it is now imperative that we unite and rebuild as sovereign independent nations, in order to assert our sovereign title and rights throughout Australia. This will be a major political and legal fight, but it is our future for not just us, but for our children and our grandchildren." We hope to talk further with Ghillar. Transition Towns Canberra - Liam Lilly - 2017 - 04 - 07 - slightly Bodgy Sound BTL
EThe "Transition Towns" movement emerged from the permaculture movement between 2004 and 2006, after permaculture teacher Rob Hopkins scared the hell out of himself and his class on the first day of a very long permaculture course in Kinsale, Ireland by showing a film on peak oil, and having a guest lecture by one of the worlds experts on the subject. The class set themselves a project for the course: how do we respond to such radical threats? Over the next few years, the transition towns movement was established, eventually settling with Rob Hopkins in Totnes, England. It has since spread to many corners of the world, in many diverse forms. Liam Lilly joins us today to talk about how it has manifested so far in Canberra, Australia.
Holacracy - Stephan Jenner - 2017 - 04 - 21 BTL
EHolacracy is a new method of organising businesses and other mission based organisations. It relies on clarity, and splits up unclear "jobs" into their actual functions, assigning them out to people as "roles". Processing "tensions" keeps the whole system improving, turning problems into solutions. Holacracy claims the ability to make workplace politics obsolete. Hear Stefan Jenner from the Telus Institute, the Australian representative of the movement, talk to us through a tin can, and a really really long piece of string that goes all the way to Perth, WA.
