Imagine you’re an outcast. A criminal. The last person that any of the respectable folk in town want to be seen with. And then Jesus comes to town. The Son of God. The reason that so many people spend so much time, I guess running and hiding from God, is this sense that they’re not worthy. They’re not good enough. Jesus had some pretty inconvenient things to say. One of them was this: that we should be prepared to lay down our lives for our friends.
