It's Draft Week Baby! The Kevin Rice made his triumphant return after a year break from the public eye!!! Dave Early from Liberty Ballers returned to talk Sixers draft night trade. We talked about the recent trade slop that dropped from KOC that implied that the Sixers might try to move Danny Green's contract and pick number 23 for a roster upgrade on draft night. I talked about the four guys that I would keep instead of trading the pick if they fell to the Sixers at number 23 and we discussed some other draft targets who I like but I would be fine if they traded the pick instead of keeping them. Then we ran down a bunch of trades that the Sixers could try to execute on draft night. Some are realistic trades but mostly they are just dreams that I have. Bryan Toporek from Forbes and Bleacher Report joined me to talk a whole lot of slop including: The Nets probably deferring the Sixers pick to 2023 which means the Sixers will have a first round pick and I will have draft content over the next few weeks! The Lakers are still interested in Doc Rivers for some reason which raises the questions ... do the Sixers really wanna keep him? Trading Tobias Harris is harder than it sounds due to many different factors so is it better just to keep him? The Chicago Bulls are interested in Thybulle but what can they really give up for him? Also, we explore some fake Thybulle trades (that might have to include the 23rd pick) that could net the Sixers some rotation player(s) back. Embiid hit the first game winning shot of his career to go up 3-0 on the Toronto Raptors ... but then we found out he had torn ligaments in his thumb and the team laid an egg in game 4 .. because it's the Sixers baby! I was joined by the Pound the Rock guys to preview the Sixers Raptors first round series and talk about why the Raptors are such a weird matchup for the Sixers in general. We discussed a whole ton of stuff including how the Raptors turning their season around, the unique ways they slow down Sixers superstar Joel Embiid and whether some regular season elements such as the Sixers foul drawing and the Raptors transition offense will be able to translate to playoff success. Some other things discussed included the coaching mismatch between Nick Nurse and Doc Rivers, why Thybulle's comments on his vaccination status that will make him ineligible to play in Toronto make zero sense and why sophomore rising star Tyrese Maxey could be a huge part of the Sixers offense in this series. It's the most dreadful time of the year, the NBA playoffs! The Sixers are playing the Raptors (again) which I will get into more later this week but before that we had to discuss some general things looming over the team including Thybulle's vaccination status that makes him ineligible to play in nearly half the series, why that makes the Deandre Jordan signing even more of a head scratcher, Doc's too late to adjust style that has us scrambling to figure out the backup center position and which eastern conference playoff path was better for the Sixers chances to win the conference and potentially the finals. We also touched on lineup configurations that include possibly resting Harden and Embiid at the same time? At the end of this episode we marveled at how far Joel Embiid has come in his career and all of the adversity he has faced to become the scoring champion and potential MVP of the league. We have seen the movie before Sixers fans! The Sixers cannot figure out how to survive without Joel Embiid on the court and they need to figure it out fast before the playoffs. But hey at least they're shooting a ton of threes now?? On this episode I was joined by Draft Twitter friend and podcast host Chuck aka @ChuckingDarts as we revisited the 2013 NBA draft AKA the Giannis Draft but more importantly the first ever draft of the Process Sixers era. This will be the first edition of the ongoing series called the Reslopables where I review old drafts, free agency periods, and trade deadlines and look at how they shaped the NBA. We talked about everything surrounding this draft including why this draft was thought to be so weak at the time, the lack of a true consensus number one overall pick and some draft takes that aged like milk and some others that aged like fine wine. And of course we touched on how half of the league, including some risk taking general managers, missed out on Giannis Antetokounmpo who went on to become one of the greatest players of all time. We ended the episode by redrafting the lottery. All of this with the benefit of hindsight bias. Enjoy!
