As Christians, one of our highest callings is to reach the world with the Gospel. This can sometimes feel like an overwhelming thing. We may feel like our life is too busy to find the time for this, or maybe our fear holds us back from preaching the Gospel. These are places many have found themselves in, if you are feeling that you are not alone. We have the ability as Christians to invite God into this struggle, He will listen and strengthen us as we aim to grow in our mission of reaching the world with Christ. We are in our second week of our series, Reach Where There Is No Church, preaching on the topic and importance of spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Christians are called to bring the Gospel to the world, we can read our direct calling in Scripture. We are a part of the body of Christ, we have brothers and sisters who are all on the same mission with us, thankfully we don’t have to do it alone. Our mission is to reach, to reach until all have heard. We can do this together as a body of Christ by discipling one another in mission. We can have courage to spread the Gospel because we are empowered by Christ. Join us in the latest sermon of the series, Until All Have Heard, and be encouraged to share the Gospel.

Before Jesus ascended into heaven after His resurrection, he brought all the disciples together as a sort of final commissioning. We have come to know this as the “great commission.” He told them to go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to believe in Him. This was the mission of the disciples after Jesus took His place at the right hand of the Father and it is our mission as followers of His, today. We are beginning a two-week sermon series labeled, Reach: Where There is No Church, discussing the necessity to bring the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. Maybe you’ve asked the question, “How do we live out the Gospel to reach the world?” It can seem daunting to look out to a world in darkness and try to reach all who are lost, thank God that we are not alone in our journey; we have a family who are all a part of this commission. As believers, we should aim to live with a faith and longing to go, recognize the power for all who believe, and live unashamed of the Gospel. How are Christians called to relate to the government? In a fractured and increasingly divided political landscape, knowing the role of the government and how we should relate to our governing institutions as Christians becomes vitally important. Join us for our latest teaching as Pastor Jacob digs into 1 Peter 2:13 - 17 to help us understand how Christians are called to relate to governing authorities.

At Woodside, we believe in making disciples, by reaching the world and our local communities with the saving grace of Christ. People everywhere desperately need Jesus. Spreading the Gospel should not be difficult or anxiety-driven, but rather an authentic conversation on faith and the need for Jesus. The book of Romans points out our need for Christ, why it is essential to share the Gospel, and where our salvation comes from. We see four truths from various chapters in Romans on a basic framework for sharing the Gospel. As we wrap up our What God Says About series, it is necessary that we look at what God says about femininity, especially on a day that celebrates the wonderful mothers in our lives. God’s word is clear that it values women, and their role in the church, in families, and in the world. Proverbs 31 is one of the most highly quoted scriptures that points to the value and need for women. We see three important points from this chapter on how to honor the women in our lives. We should acknowledge her value, affirm her work, and applaud her character. Godly women are an essential part of the world, the church, and the home. We have been working through our What God Says About series. This week we tackle a topic that is not often talked about in the church—sex. Scripture has much to say about it though, so it seems important we discuss what God has to say. God makes it abundantly clear that sex was created to be shared within the covenant of marriage, as two become one. The stain of sin in this world has sadly tainted the view of sex, painting it in a way that one should explore their sexuality, rather than saving it for the sacredness of marriage. The Bible makes it clear that sex is a good gift from God, to be shared only in marriage. As we aim to honor God in our sex lives we see three truths within scripture—to delight in your spouse, honor wise boundaries, and understand the danger of adultery. We are going through our series, What God Says About. This week we look at What God Says About Work. What we do matters to God. We are the representation of Christ, how we work reflects Him. Colossians 3:23 says we should “work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.” God commands us to work hard and to serve Him in all we do. In Proverbs, we find some examples of things that hinder us from fulfilling our call to work. There are three examples of obstacles we may face when it comes to work: laziness, distractedness, and selfishness. Proverbs 6 shows us that we have a calling to fulfill, that call is to work. We see in Genesis God giving Adam and Eve the call to tend to the garden and care for the animals. That was a privilege they held, given from God. The book of Proverbs says a lot about the company we keep. Who we walk through life with will have an influence on where we go in life and who we become. So, what kind of friend do you need? Or even need to be to others? Find out in our latest message from our What God Says About series.

Last Sunday, we started a new series, What God Says About, taking insights from the book of Proverbs, and applying God’s wisdom to some everyday situations we may face. When it comes to the way we speak to others, what we say matters. Our words hold much power. We have the choice to speak words of life or words of death over those we interact with each day. From Proverbs, we pick up a few pieces of advice when it comes to this topic. We should aim to speak less and listen more, to speak words of grace and encouragement, and to speak words of truth and challenge. As we strive to build each other up, our Heavenly Father encourages us to be careful in our words and to speak words that bring life. We are diving into a new series, What God Says About, looking at the book of Proverbs to glean wisdom from about how to lean on God in the situations we face each day. Proverbs 3 tells us, the one who finds wisdom and understanding is blessed. Wisdom guides us in the decisions we make every day. As we seek Christ to be emulated in our lives, we should look to honor Him through our choices, who better to ask for wisdom from than Christ. For God’s wisdom is supremely precious. It is by wisdom that we live a good life, that God created the world, and that we are protected. Join us in the first sermon of the series, What God says About Wisdom.

This Easter Sunday we are ending our 'Believe' series, by diving into a commonly asked question, why should I believe in Jesus? There are many differing opinions that circulate in our culture, doubting the existence of Jesus. It can be hard to remain faithful to a God we can’t physically see, especially when our doubts drown out what we know to be true. Good news, Jesus isn’t shocked by our doubts! He invites us to bring our doubts to Him; He knows them and He will reveal the truth to us—we just have to let Him in. Jesus knows our doubts, answers our fears, and blesses our faith. The resurrected King invites us to believe in Him! Join us this resurrection Sunday as we celebrate the risen King. He is alive and has stepped out of the grave; our belief in Him is alive!

For this Good Friday, we behold Jesus as King, Shepherd, and Savior through the Apostle John's retelling of the Garden arrest narrative. Hear from Pastor Jacob Ley, Pastor Joel Tomkinson, and Rev. Brandon Cleaver as they share the teaching at this special gathering.

This Palm Sunday, we are beginning with true belief, and how that belief in Jesus shows in our lives. As we enter Holy Week, we begin with looking at Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. We' see how true, genuine belief shows in our lives when we honor Jesus as king, bear witness to Jesus’ work, and pursue Jesus’ presence.

Our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, is ending. We have been slowly walking through Psalm 51, learning what true confession and renewal looks like. As we wrap up our series this week, we tackle the effect our sin and our confession of sin has on our communities. When one begins to experience transformational renewal, others will see and begin to desire that same revival in themselves. An individual's personal confession pleads for communal renewal. In turn, our communal renewal will enjoy God's delight. Join us as we wrap up our series walking though Psalm 51. This week we are journeying on in our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, looking to Psalm 51 as a guide to help us in our journey of finding renewal in Christ. In times when we have messed up or let someone down, it is easy for us to be full of shame and think that hiding is better. But God invites us into something different. He tells us that we can experience life transforming restoration and renewal, when we go to Him in humbleness, He is faithful to help us out of our pit of sin. When we are seeking renewal, we can first ask for God’s restoration and respond to His grace with genuine worship. God’s restoration in us, should cause us to react in worship. Giving praise to God for what He has done in us and for us; giving testimony to others through what Christ has done in us. Our response should be genuine praise back to Him for what He has done for us. God’s restoration leads us into worship. As we journey on in our series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, we will see that an essential part of confession is taking responsibility for our sin. In Romans, we see that Paul states, “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” When we were born into this world, we entered into sin, our need for Jesus is very great. And the first step we take in the process of confession is realizing our sin and owning up to it. In confessing before God, it is important that we acknowledge that God is just, confess our fallen nature, and receive God's wisdom. What a gift, that we do not have to do it alone. We have the blood of Christ to cover our sins, He does not leave us alone, we need to take the initial step of recognizing and confessing. We are continuing in our new series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, this week we will be diving into Gods mercy and how He is faithful to show us mercy. When we appeal to the character of God and appeal to the cleansing power of God, we can experience His great mercy. Rather than carrying it on our own, the Lord is calling us to confess, surrender, release our grip on struggling to clean ourselves up. We can’t do it without Him. When we believe in Him and turn toward Him, confessing before Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to show us mercy. He can mend what we have broken, and He can heal our hearts from what we have let in. We do not have to suffer in silence, no matter how easy it may seem to suppress it and clean it up on our own. We are beginning a new series, Confessions: Erasing Shame and Experiencing Renewal, where we will look at 2 Samuel to better understand the role confession plays in our lives for us to find renewal. Today, we begin talking about this topic looking at David’s shortcomings when he gave into temptation and sinned against God. We see that the Lord confronts our sin so that we can experience renewal. To an extent, it’s as if we can have blinders on, where we can’t see the sin that tangles itself in our lives. On the other hand, we are aware of it and may turn our heads from seeing it. God lovingly confronts us with our sin because we are blind to it, at times we have despised the word of God, and the Lord is faithful to forgive our sin when we repent before Him. Today, we are closing out our series, Daniel: Clash of Cultures, looking at the life of Daniel as he faced several difficulties and resided in a land that was hostile to God. As Christians, we are called to have faith, a faith that stands strong against the patterns of the world. Our faith can have an impact on the people and communities we are met with. We are the representation of Christ; the world is looking at us, watching our actions and lifestyle. God calls us to be faithful and to stand firm upon Him. He is saying; be faithful, He will deliver us. As we dig into this chapter, we see four truths about Christian faithfulness, it exposes cultural opposition, cultivates uncompromising character, reveals Divine deliverance, and sparks spiritual awakening. Our faithfulness to God is so vital, it impacts all who meet us. May the truths we have looked at in this series inspire and challenge you in your walk with Christ. Stand firm, we are image bearers, we are in this world, but not of it!

We are diving into another chapter in Daniel, looking at the fall of a king who opposed God. In this chapter, we see that God is sovereign over ungodly kings and kingdoms. We learn lessons from history and actively try not to repeat their past mistakes—it is the same for us as Christians. The word of God is full of stories of men and women who have fallen short, disobeyed God, forgot Him, and walked away, but thanks be to God that He never stopped chasing after them. We see that through their failings and mistakes, God is present, He picked them up, patched the pieces, and restored them. Just as He did then, He is doing now, so we need to learn from what scripture states. Join us in another sermon from the series, Following a Father's Footsteps, and remember your need for Jesus.

Today, we are moving forward in our series on Daniel, looking at the journey of Daniel’s life and his courage to stay loyal to God whilst living in a culture that rejected God. Pride so simply entangles us in its grasp. It is easy to get caught in the success of what we complete or achieve and give ourselves all the credit, puffing ourselves up with more pridefulness. God warns us of the evil that can infect our hearts when we indulge in pride. But he does not leave us to figure it out on our own, He provides careful correction for our sinful ways, sharing with us His grace. God warns us of our pride, He will judge us for our sin, and then He restores us by his grace. He is faithful to redeem us. Today we will continue our series, Daniel: Clash of Cultures, looking at another courageous story of Daniel and his friends in Babylon. When faced with the direct command to bow down to a false image by King Nebuchadnezzar, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bend their knee to a fake god. They had the courage to refuse and remain loyal to God alone; even if their refusal meant a sentence to death. Through the bravery of these young men, we see how courageous faith rejects idolatrous worship. As we fight in our present culture to stick close to our faith and values, we should reject cultural idolatry, refuse to compromise, and trust in God's deliverance. Tune in and hear how the courageous faith of these men allowed them to stay loyal to God despite living in a sinful, idolatrous society.

We are continuing in our series, Daniel: Clash of Cultures. Seeing how Daniel remained faithful to God in a culture that directly opposed and went against Gods commands. Have there been moments in your life when you faced great difficulties—feeling like God was so far away? It can be tempting to turn your back on Him when we go through those times. But we can remain dependent on Him. We will learn today that Gods wisdom, kingdom, and authority is greater. As Christians in a modern world, we can feel like foreigners under pressure to blindly accept values that directly conflict with the gospel. Today, we're beginning a new series called Daniel: Clash of Cultures. When we step into the world of Daniel, we find ourselves in a land known for its excess, sin, and violence. This is also the reality of the age we currently live in. The key to Daniel's survival and ours is to recognize cultural influences, remain dependent on God, and receive the Lord's divine favor. Listen in as we discuss how to remain loyal to God in a hostile culture — by holding fast to the truth that God is sovereign over our circumstances.

True freedom is found in Jesus—not the kind that allows us to do whatever we want; but the kind of freedom that releases us from sin, shame, and darkness. It is not always easy to deny ourselves and put others before our own desires, but when we are struggling with this we can look to the example of Jesus. Jesus led by His example of humility; we can follow Jesus’ example of humility in our personal lives. To embody humility in our own lives we can consider our position, consider our mindset, and consider our example. We are beginning our Christmas series, Emmanuel: God with Us. Several have asked the question, “What if God was one of us?” Seeming to overlook the incarnation of Jesus. Each Christmas, many celebrate the birth of Jesus to the world, through this event, we see that God answered this question with the incarnation of Christ. Today, we will learn how we can see God's glory by beholding the person of Jesus and the work He accomplished through His time here on earth. Our series, Conflict[ed]: Pursuing Peace in a Cancel Culture, is coming to a close. In this last week, we will look at forgiveness and how vital it is in the body of Christ. As we walk through this world, we will face pain. That pain may be physical or emotional, and it may be caused by a brother or sister in Christ. When they hurt us, it can be difficult to come to a point of forgiveness; only being able to after conviction and stirring of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives us several examples of forgiving those who hurt us in scripture, many times, Himself being the one turning the other cheek. We should forgive because we have been forgiven much and because it is the way of the kingdom. We are continuing in our series, Conflict[ed]: Pursuing Peace in a Cancel Culture, learning the importance of handling bouts of conflict in a God-honoring manner. In our culture today, it is easy to succumb to the simple ways of handling conflicts—canceling each other. However, Jesus calls His children to a higher standard, one that honors and pursues peace within the body. He has given us a way to go about reconciling these issues within His word. We are to love and care for our family of Christ, the same way God has displayed to us. He calls us to not tear one another down but to lift each other up in love and harmony. The Lord displays, in His word, the importance of going after the ones who stray from the faith rather than canceling them. When we claim Christ, it is important that we stay vigilant of our words and actions. Our impact on others is vital, we should have a motive of not hindering others, but rather being a help. We should also look to be vigilant of our own sin and its impact on our life, removing it from our lives. Today, we begin a new message series, Conflict[ed]: Pursuing Peace in a Cancel Culture, tackling the topic of conflict. We will look at the book of Matthew, as Jesus talks about the community of Christ and how to handle conflict in a Christ-like manner. Christ makes it clear that the foundation of our relationships should always begin with humility. He always brings us to a point of internal reflection; in that He wants us to examine our hearts to see the state of it. In turn, before we can accomplish any conflict management with others, we need to make sure we go about it in a kind, humble way. Today, we are completing our series, Thy Kingdom Come, where we will see Jesus’ reign over disease and death. Many times, in the New Testament Jesus is seen healing someone. We see His power and authority displayed through His acts of healing. That same power is alive and active, today. His healing touch restores dignity, resurrects life, and amazes the world. We are journeying on in our series, Thy Kingdom Come, learning from Mark chapters 3-5. Today, we will be reminded that Jesus reigns over the demonic realm. Jesus’ saving grace transforms us. He remains calm and at peace in these times, He speaks with authority, and He calls us to step out and live in fearless faith. We are continuing in our series, Thy Kingdom Come, traveling through Mark 3-5. This week we will see that Jesus’ reign advances through his shared word. In Christ, as His vessels we carry His light and gospel with us. We are shining lights in a dimly lit world. But we will discover that even though we have His word hidden in our heart, it is still important for us to recognize its place and impact in our daily life. As the word deepens itself in our lives, it will reach further, since we will learn how deeper leads to greater, faithful leads to fruitful, and small leads to expansive. We are moving forward in our journey through the gospel of Mark, where we will be met with the question, what is your heart towards Jesus’ word? In Mark 4, Jesus tells a parable that describes the different types of soil of the human heart. Jesus states that there are four kinds, the hard heart, shallow heart, distracted heart, and fertile heart. As we contemplate the state of our hearts, Jesus drives home the importance of having a fertile heart --one that is obedient and open to the word of God and all that it asks of us. Today we are continuing our message series, Thy Kingdom Come: His Reign in Our Lives. We will discover how the Lord asks for our full allegiance and commitment to His kingdom. Letting go and giving up control is a difficult task. In our walks with Christ, this is what He asks of us, to allow Him to have full control of our lives as He guides us in the way He has paved. Jesus asks some thought-provoking questions in the gospel of Mark, which will call us to examine our hearts and ask ourselves the questions, "Who is Jesus to me? Have I fully surrendered to Him?" We are beginning our new series, Thy Kingdom Come: His Reign in Our Lives, today we will see how Jesus’ reign brings heaven to earth. Arrivals are exciting. We wait with great expectation for what we are anticipating, rather the arrival of a loved one or the visit of an influential person. This week we are starting in Mark chapter 3, where we will learn about the distinguishing marks that the disciples had. In the excitement of Jesus arrival, He calls out His twelve disciples. The twelve were called out from the crowd, they spent a lot of time with Jesus, and they were given authority. We are concluding our series, Elijah, where we learn how God faithfully calls people into His mission. In our society, work is an essential part of living. We work to make a living and to provide for our families. We desire to do well in our careers and see how far they can take us. God has given His followers a mission – to bring the gospel to all peoples and nations. Taking His love and peace to all we can. When He calls us, we see that God's call demands commitment, God's call can be trusted, and His call involves development. Today, we continue in our series, Elijah, reminding us how the same God Elijah served can use us to live a life of impact for His Kingdom. When we face times of defeat, we can look to God to give us strength. Even Elijah, who was a man of great faith faced times of hopelessness. In times when we find ourselves full of sorrow, we can be encouraged that the same God that worked through Elijah is a God of grace. He calls us to his truth, to his spirit, and to live a life of servitude. Listen to our newest message of the series and be reminded of God's grace.

Today, we continue our new message series! In Elijah, we will see that through many struggles and oppositions, Elijah was a man of faith and served God well. Though there were times he fell into depression and wanted to give up, God still used him to make a huge impact. When we feel like God doesn’t hear our prayers, we will hear some truths that will fuel us with hope to have faith in our prayer life.
