Ep 131Episode 131 - Wolf Precision's Master Class ACE Gunsmithing School

In this podcast, we announce our new Gunsmithing School. Have you ever dreamed of being a custom rifle builder and starting your own business? Ever thought about being a part of the rifle building world? There are some obstacles to becoming a world-class custom rifle builder including the years and costs of schooling, the training it takes to be a world-class machinist and the time necessary to master the skill, not to mention, the costs of the equipment. These items are usually the reasons why folks who want to be gunsmiths are not able to do so. They are simply limited by resources including time and money. But now, in just 4 days, here at Wolf Precision, we can teach you everything you need to know to be a world class ACE Gunsmith and Rifle Builder. We are excited to announce the ...ACE Gunsmithing School. Forget about a $12,000 lathe. Forget about the 1-2 year gunsmithing course at $26,000/yr or the online schools selling you a kit of home studies. Don't limit yourself by the lack of quality training or equipment. Our course is a much more effective use of your time and money. Whether you are an established rifle store looking to start offering custom rifles or an aspiring gunsmith, this is your chance to become a custom rifle builder using the cutting edge technology of the ACE. With the invention of the ACE, a modern chamber design, all it takes is few short days to learn. We want you to build custom rifles that will surpass any other builder in your area. Ep 129Episode 129 - Triggers, Scopes, Movers and Chassis for Hunting.

In this episode, we cover a variety of topics including the movers class that we just finished, chassis for hunting, trigger failures and optics. The safety conversation on the potential for extremely dangerous trigger failures are worth the listen alone. One topic that I really think is worth a listen, too, is how to break in a scope and get it ready for repeatable long term use. We hope you enjoy the podcast as Richard joins us for another great episode.

If you need or may be in need of brass, we recommend buying what you need now. In this episode, we also talk about and dive into the wind, its concepts and how you should aproach it. It doesn't do or act on a bullet the way you may think or how common sense would tell you at first thought. Ep 127Episode 127 - Drive the rifle and shoot, new online long range shooting school.

Let's talk about shooting, marksmanship and having confidence to drive the rifle. Knowing you can shoot and hit without technology when it's needed and when it counts the most. We also talk about having lists, pre-flight. Things you should be doing to prepare for the range before you go, things to do at the range and what you do when you get home. Having a list of things you check both before and after can save you a lot of grief when preparing for a hunt, match or range trip. I love pilots for this very reason. They have a checklist for everything, including pre-flight which I think is the most important. Lastly, we are excited to announce our new online long range shooting school course is live along with a new 2 day live fire event for those who attend. We would like to introduce Richard Jones, a great long time friend and now team member here at Wolf Precision. If you call in you may talk with him on the phone. Ep 125Episode 125 - Bedding, Cerakote and Barreled Actions!

In this episode we talk about bedding, cerakote and barreled actions. We just returned from our trip to Redstone Arsenal, AL and Ft. Benning, GA. Bedding is a topic that came up and barreled action requests are common here at the shop. They both go hand in hand and with a new chassis in the shop being bedded as we speak, this was the right time to answer why we do not offer or sell just barreled actions. We have to see the rifle through to the very end if you are to have the success and accuracy you are expecting from it! Ep 124Episode 124 - Q & A on carbon vs steel and the difference between creativity and Innovation.

In this episode we take a question from Casey on carbon Vs steel barrels. We also dive into a little business on the difference between innovation and creativity. I hope to encourage you to try to put some of your ideas to the test and make or invent that product or widget. Write that song, code or book. Too many times, the best inventions never see the light of day, simply because the creativity part was realized but never acted on to bring it to a realization. It is the greatest feeling in the world and i want to encourage everyone to so that they may experience it too. It will make your heart and soul smile if you do, so do it.

Ep 123Ep123 - Why the ACE is so important to bring rifles to a higher level of accuracy consistently.

When we talk about the future of rifles, not just custom, you get a choice of two out of three options...quick, good (quality) and cheap. But you can only choose two. You want quality and you want it now, it's not going to be cheap. You want quality and cheap, it's not going to be quick. You want cheap and fast, its probably not going to be good good. The major problem isn't that the perfect rifle can't be made by the highest quality gunsmith on his very best day and using the very best techniques. The problem is that the process is slow and not repeatable as scale. Because you are limited by that gunsmiths time and the quality of skill he apples that day. If he speeds up, the quality goes down. It he is tired, the quality suffers. If he can make the perfect rifle on Monday, does he have the physical and mental stamina to maintain that ultra high level of detail to attention for the rest of the week and every rifle he continues to build that week? Or does he tire, lose a little focus or just stop caring as much, maybe in an effort to just finish? The ACE isn't the only way to build the perfect rifle, it is the only way to build the perfect rifle at scale. Achieving the same level of accuracy as the best gunsmith in the world on his very best day in a way that is production sustainable. Our mission in creating the ACE was not in trying to find a way to make the perfect rifle, our mission was trying to find a way to make the perfect rifle every single time without relying on an individuals skill or abilities that day. Which is where the ACE was born and the problem solved. As we move forward in the future, you can have the best, you can have it now and you can have it at a better price, every time with every rifle.

Ep 105EP 105 - Part 2, the tipping point for better shooting with light rifles.

Lets face it, if we forced match shooters to shoot ultra-light rifles in magnum calibers, would they have the same score they normally would have with their match gun? In selecting a hunting rifle, we do everything the exact opposite a match shooter would do to shoot better. This is about to change and it has to do with several things happening at the same time: gear, calibers, and bullets. Ep 104EP 104 - Part 1, the tipping point for better shooting with light rifles.

EP 104 - What great shooters know is that weight matters and it is an aid to accuracy. What hunters know is weight matters and heavy rifles suck to carry. What great shooters know is small calibers are easier to learn and shoot more accurately when combined with a heavy rifle. What most hunters mistakenly think is that the bigger caliber, the better. I can't think of any place where accuracy is more important than when trying to harvest an animal, yet most hunters do the complete opposite of what most great shooters know. They go light in terms of weight and big in terms of caliber. Both of these can have huge negative impacts on your ability to learn and grow as a shooter, along with your overall accuracy level. There a so many ways to use just a few pieces of everyday kit to make and stabilize your shots without having to buy and bring every gadget under the sun. That weight savings in your pack will allow you build and carry a little heavier rifle without increasing the overall weight of your kit. Prioritizing your weight management to maximize or favor the benefits to you as a shooter.

Go and do it now...

Go and do it now! I have learned something about the shooting school event itself that I want to share. With all things in life, taking three days to spend time together is about relationships. Building, healing, bonding and growing. In life we rarely get to spend three days uninterrupted doing anything with the people we love. I am always amazed to watch the joy and smiles those three little days bring. No matter the hobby or the event, do not hesitate, just go and do it now. The people in our lives are too important and those moments too precious to wait.

The health of the outdoor industry in America!

The health of the outdoor industry in America! Corporate greed, the copying of best practices and a market ripe for the picking. Our outdoor industry is in trouble! The closing of American facilities in favor of cheaper overseas labor is putting lesser quality products on our shores while still asking us to pay premium prices. Corporate America and its investors have turned their eyes to every part of the outdoor industry looking to gain access to our wallets through slick marketing and cheap overseas manufacturing. They are not looking to make great and innovative products for our industry. They are looking to make profits from our industry. Flush with cash, they are using any and every available product or brand they can find or abuse to flood our markets with cheap and easily made overseas products, including scopes, binoculars, tents, coolers, clothing, boots and electronics. And, these are just the tip of the iceberg. You name it, they are making it and soon could control most if not all of it. What happens if they decide we no longer need such items and in our best interest decide we can't get them? When our American outdoor industry is gone and its workers are out on the street, who will be left to protect and preserve our heritage for future generations. With a decimated industry, who could afford the fight?
