Born and raised in East Tennessee, Derek is a songwriter with deep rooted ties to the music born in the area. In the hyperbolic style of murder ballads, his songs are historical tales of heartbreak, trouble, strife, and ideas about the true nature of humanity. Derek's performances will take you on a journey through his life and those of his mountain ancestors. Derek has taken the stage at some of Asheville’s most prominent festivals such as Downtown After 5 and Pridefest and has shared stages with artists like Cracker, Low Cut Connie, and Marcus King. Lua Flora is the soundtrack of your favorite daydream. The Asheville, NC-based group’s sun-kissed melodies are rooted in the harmonies of Appalachia, rhythms of the West Indies, and lyricism of American folk. Releasing a collection of singles, Lua Flora has collaborated with Sons of Paradise, Richard Vagner, Victor Rice, and Karl Vincent Roth (of Satsang). With stellar reviews from publications such as Face the Current and Top Shelf Music, the outfit has established its unique yet home-like voice.

They bonded over these shared gigs, their common love of dogs, and an enthusiasm for hiking. They decided to tie the knot in the fall of 2015. The Brown Mountain Lightning Bugs officially formed in early 2016, and they’ve been bringing songs of joy, pain, and dogs to audiences ever since. Combining their unique backgrounds that range from classic rock to classical guitar, they create a blend of original music with deep roots in the past and a contemporary twist here and there. The Bugs have played extensively throughout the Southeast, including performances in The Crown at the Carolina Theatre, The Grey Eagle’s Patio Show Series, Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival, and at Awendaw Green. They completed their first cross-country tour in early 2020, before going on a virus-mandated hiatus for a couple months. Their sophomore album Folk(ish) came out on April 9, 2021. Originally from Philadelphia, Cosette Gobat has devoted her entire life to music. A songwriting talent from a very young age, her career took off upon the signing of a record deal with Decapolis Records at age 14. She began touring the East Coast in high school, a move that projected her reach even further. Writing music for documentaries and playing festivals with big artists such as Sheryl Crow, Cosette was signed to another label, KBM Productions, with the release of an electronic EP called ‘Blindside’. After performing on ABC in 2015, she took her career into a different direction studying at Temple University and working as a mastering engineer under Michael Jackson’s ex-producer at Arctic Records in Philadelphia. The release of her debut album ‘Couteau’ in 2020 offered an introduction of her wide- range artistic ability and knowledge, a well-produced blend of folk, classical, and dream pop. Cosette’s music is described as an honest soundscape with poetic lyrics and drowned reverb, evoking a scenery into nostalgia and a sonic dimension.

There are many different species of the Music Artist. Various combinations of singers, songwriters and entertainers. But it’s the ones that wear their art that get to us the most. The ones that don’t know how not to tell the truth in their music and reveal the raw and ragged triumphs that in the end are more beautiful because of the honesty of the struggle. These are the Artists that get in our bones and shake loose our demons by slaying their own with chords and words. Artists like Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin…and Stevie Tombstone." Outlaw Magazine After a chance meeting with Roy Acuff, Stevie (then a young man) was certain he would always be a musician. Georgia born relation of the legendary fiddler, Clayton McMichen, Stevie immersed himself in the world of rock and the underground music scene of the 80s in Atlanta, but never lost the twang of his childhood. Almost three decades later he has become an accomplished performer, songwriter and guitarist, as well as an integral the Atlanta and Austin Music Scenes at various points in time. He now hangs his hat in Western North Carolina. In addition to his published works with his 1980s swampabilly band, The Tombstones, Stevie has released five solo albums and half a dozen music videos. The Tombstones song, Nobody, became a college radio anthem. The roots punk song about the Carolina Lights and was later recorded by rock icon Stiv Bator. Tombstone's debut full length release, 730 AM, featured performances by members of Wilco, Jason and the Scorchers, The Bad Livers, and The Georgia Satellites, and offered tracks that peaked on the Satellite Radio charts. After several comps and EPs, his 2011 release, Greenwood, reintroduced Stevie to Americana and folk listeners with the autobiographical tale of his journey to Greenwood to mark the grave of then un-honored Robert Johnson. Over the years, Tombstone’s bandmates and co-conspirators have been a veritable who's who of underground and nationally recognized players. Priding himself in his ability to cross genres, he has also had the honor of sharing the bill with the likes of Leon Russell, The Stray Cats, Greg Allman, Willie Nelson, Drive By Truckers, Kevn Kinney, Johnny Bush, and The Ramones. In addition to producing and writing for other artists, Stevie still performs over two hundred nights a year, enjoying a grassroots following that's kept him on the trail for the last three decades. His latest release, Raised on Roots a compilation of singles and EPs, is available now and enjoying growing airplay.

Hornsby's work is influenced by psychedelia, folk, eastern music, American primitivism, avant-garde, and sound healing. He recorded his first original music in the summer of 2015 on his laptop. This demo incorporated acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, synthesizers, vocals, and samples. In Autumn of 2016, Hornsby released his first album Solipsism & the Nectar of the Gods. This album included reworked versions of songs from his demo as well as new material. In 2018, Hornsby released Legend of the Unconscious Enigma as a follow up to his previous album. In contrast to his debut, he transitioned to a more organic sound without the use of synthesizers and electric guitar. He began experimenting with acoustic guitar in open tunings as well as more complex overdubs. In the Spring of 2019, Hornsby went on a solo trip to northern India. He purchased a guitar in Delhi and began writing new material in the Himalayas. When he returned to the United States, he perfected these songs and composed the remainder of the material on what would become Teetering on the Edge of the Void. Teetering On the Edge of the Void was Hornsby's first professional album. It was recorded in late 2019 to analog tape in a studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The result was a psychedelic world folk album tinged with heavy Indian influence and orchestrated segments. Released in June, 2020, this acclaimed album was his most ambitious to date. It became the final album in his conceptual trilogy and was self released on vinyl. Less than a year later, Hornsby released his first professional instrumental album. Dogwood Dance was recorded in Asheville, NC and exemplifies his advanced guitar style that has been compared to artists akin to John Fahey. The Australian record label Ramble Records funded its release on vinyl. Both of his most recent albums have gained attention worldwide and have been positively reviewed on blogs, as well as airplay. Sullivan Smith & Stray Lions is a pop group or musical dance craze from Roanoke, VA. Started in 2019 as a bedroom project, Sullivan soon found a revolving door of musicians to back with live gigs and some recording. In other words... "Just a songwriter and a makeshift band."

During his time here in NC, Trouvere has been recording and working on his first full length album, Conventional Comforts, which he have been slowly releasing over the course of the year as singles. The Collect Pond is the name under which singer-songwriter Danny Moffat produces and self-releases his own music. The Collect Pond is named after a geographical location in New York, NY where The Collect Pond started. Moffat chose the name “The Collect Pond” for his own music since the imagery of an oasis in the city seemed fitting, as recording and self-expression offered a similar kind of respite, a way to cope with the tenseness that permeates New York life. Also, a “Collect Pond” creates a co-existing mix of species in one ecosystem, or musically speaking, a myriad of influences and styles under one name.

His albums Life After Rock N Roll (2017 Full Bloom Records) and The Midnight Strain (2018 Full Bloom Records) have been hailed by music publications and played on radio stations in the US, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Australia. Matt’s sound is a clever blend of numerous styles of the music that have influenced him since his youth - early electric and country Blues, Rock N Roll, Rockabilly, Soul, R&B, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz and Psychedelia. His focus on making all original music by combining the influences that inspired him, along with his own ideas, have produced an exciting blend of many genres without rules or limitations. His exposure to music came first came from his mother through her love of Motown. When Matt was 9 years old, she took him to a Prince concert and afterwards, he knew he wanted to be a musician. His musical education began with his late uncle who turned him onto a record collection that included early 1950’s electric Blues and 1960's Rock which inspired Matt to play guitar. When he was 13, Matt got a knock off electric guitar for $25 at a flea market and set out to learn the instrument. He furthered his musical education when he began absorbing the music on old record labels, notably Chess, Sun and Stax . Less than a decade later, he began performing in clubs and in the years to follow, he established himself as a highly regarded musician in the Blues world with his first release, Hard Luck (2007), as one of the few artists in the genre capable of writing relevant original material without relying on any cover songs from the past. The album got rave reviews in multiple music publications, radio play on stations around the world and a featured spot on XM 74 Satellite Radio as a 'Pick to Click'. Around this time Matt joined Bob Margolin (guitarist for Muddy Waters 1973-1980) and performed with some of his heroes, legendary artists like Howlin’ Wolf's guitarist Hubert Sumlin and members of Muddy Water's band, Pinetop Perkins and Willie "Big Eyes" Smith. While he was looking for a new direction to expand his music, Matt started working with drummer Austin Hicks after they met on Craigslist in 2013. They formed the drum-guitar duo, the Low Counts and branded themselves as, "Blue Collar Rock-N-Roll". They turned heads, made dedicated fans and blew audiences away with their no frills, high energy stage show. Their ride was cut short on March 8th 2017 when Austin passed away unexpectedly. Matt wrote 27 songs that the duo released over three albums in the four short years they were together (The Low Counts 2014 Real Original Records, Unsettled Days 2015 Grimtale Records, Years Pass By 2015 Real Original Records) Matt released his first full length solo studio album in almost a decade, Life After Rock N Roll' (2017 Full Bloom Records). The album reignited his standing as a solo artist and found him stretching out to make powerful, refined music that was entirely different than any of his previous works and his third full length studio album, The Midnight Strain (2018 Full Bloom Records) built upon that success. Matt released his fourth full length studio album 'Burnt Out Soul' (Full Bloom Records) on September 25th 2020 that he recorded at the legendary Columbia Records Studio A on Music Row in Nashville TN. Iris Marlowe is a singer-songwriter from Chicago, IL. Iris has been playing and writing music since she was 3 years old. She begun taking music seriously in 2018 and started to cultivate her sound. After releasing two albums 'Savannah' (2019) and 'Winter Solace' (2020) she decided to work on a western album inspired by spaghetti westerns and the occult. 'Home' is the first single to be released from the upcoming album. It's a folk song from the record t

The group is known for their marriage of EDM, Pop and Punk influences as well as their fans base who seem to hold an incurable obsession with unicorns. Releasing their first label debut in 2005, the group quickly gained notoriety on the various Sony/BMG imprints they inhabited. Their second album, Galactic Conquest, cemented them as a staple of pop rock in Asia resulting in chart success and extensive touring in Japan. Their signature brand of "neon-punk" garnered them comparisons to Motion City Soundtrack, The Faint, and Cobra Starship. After a slew of other releases they officially disbanded in 2014, only to re-emerge with their own label, podcast and comeback album titled Rad Science. In 2012 they released their most popular album to date, Attack of The Mountain Medley. The release was an attempt by the band to channel the country and folk music they grew up with, and take a break from the loud electronics and theatrics of their previous releases. The album now sits at over 6 million streams, and contains the group's most popular track, "Appalachian Wine". Now almost 10 years later, Eleventy is reviving the Mountain Medley series with a new EP titled Revenge of the Mountain Medley. A temporary departure from the synth-heavy dance tracks that make up most of their discography, the band is once again taking a detox from their synthetic glitz and revisiting stories and folk narratives from their life in the south. McKenzie Van Oss is an indie rock/pop musician and a soloist ballerina with the Carolina Ballet in Raleigh, North Carolina. Van Oss was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin where she was classically trained in piano, guitar, and drums, before making her way outside Boston to finish high school at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, concentrating on pursuing her ballet career. Van Oss found her way in Raleigh following graduation to join the Carolina Ballet, where she was promoted to soloist in 2021. She started her music career over quarantine in 2020 by recording with her brother Robby Van Oss of the Phony Santas in their childhood basement. Since then she has released 4 singles, a music video using dancers from the Carolina Ballet, and has played throughout Raleigh, her most recent show being on the stage of The PourHouse Record and Music Shop. Van Oss is currently working on an album surrounding her most recent single "Stereo to Heaven" with musicians around the Triangle and plans to release it by the end of next year.

She returned to her country roots with her single “I Break Things” that was released in early 2020. She released four additional singles during 2020. Lindsay Brazell is a high school choral director by day, and a singer-songwriter by night. Her music has been described as having “Beatles-like chord progressions with real, relatable lyrics.” A performance by Lindsay feels like you’re at a gathering of mutual friends, and you leave with Lindsay as your new favorite pal whether she knows it or not. The combination of friendly banter, diverse songs in style and arrangement, and the need to socialize after every show (somehow her husband ends up packing up gear alone as Lindsay ends every show lost in the crowd socializing…oops!), will leave you feeling like you were entertained and reunited with old friends.

Meeting in Boone, North Carolina, Unaka Prong borrows their name from a mountain range in western North Carolina. With their fourth and newest release, Kudzu, Unaka Prong continues to produce their unique blend of instrumental jazz fusion and alternative rock. Now based in Durham, NC, they've played across the southeast over the last few years, supporting bands like TAUK, Moon Taxi, and Dumpstaphunk.

His musical palette falls between the lines of indie folk, singer-songwriter and Americana. Fans of Gregory Alan Isakov, Iron and Wine and Jason Isbell, will feel comfortable here. His lyrics are a healing balm from the daily struggle as they wash over you with a deep reverence. After the passing of his father, ending up homeless and being broken up with all within one month, Kristian began writing songs in the summer of 2010, as a way to start processing all he'd been through and begin the healing process. From 2010 until 2016 Kristian went under the moniker Ramblin' Pan. This project was an Alt Country, Folk sound that was heavily influenced by Ryan Adams, Mumford and Sons, and Johnny Cash. He released 1 EP, "A Prodigals Tale" and 1 self titled LP under the moniker. He also went on several national tours in various coffee shops and venues across the USA. In the summer of 2016, Kristian decided to take a break from music after years of constant touring and some deeply traumatic family experiences. In 2019, Kristian had several life changes; including moving to Asheville,NC, getting married, and working through the healing process of the traumatic family events he experienced before his break in 2016. The new album is a concept record based on the 4 seasons Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. The plot is a love story that starts in Spring and weaves through the other seasons leading to a breakup in the Winter. There are 12 songs, 3 for each season and Kristian is currently releasing 1 song a month for the next year starting in March 2021. Kristian wrote this album in 7 days, to process a relationship that had ended. Although it ends as a sad story, it's a story that will resonate with many others and hopefully can be a healing balm of hope. There are a lot of exciting things happening each month this year, so you don’t want to miss anything! Make sure to join the email list to follow along in the journey. After eighteen months of meticulous crafting, Across The Sea are set to unveil their much-anticipated second album The Wayfarer Triptych, scheduled for release on 1st October. A nine-track concept piece, the album narrates an original story penned by the band themselves, marrying fantasy and folklore, fairytale and philosophy, to present a stirring tale of drama, adventure and mystery. An artistic Endeavour near-cinematic in its scope and ambition, The Wayfarer Triptych sees the genre-defying progressive duo push every aspect of their signature sound to the extreme in order to create an immense work of astonishing musicality, vivid storytelling, dizzying virtuosity, and staggering emotional resonance. Hailing from Worthing on the West Sussex coast in the south of England, Across The Sea sound unlike any act you’ve heard before. Evocative, otherworldly, and utterly captivating, they defy categorization, inhabiting a place where the boundlessness of the imagination transcends genre limitations and conventions. A breathtaking synthesis of the haunting, siren-like vocals of classically trained soprano Hannah Katy Lewis and the dynamic, unorthodox and experimental guitar style of Pete Ferguson, their mesmerizingly unique sound is wildly eclectic, fiercely inventive and singularly distinctive.

Will’s album, Carolina Home, will take you on a journey from growing up to love lost and found, working hard while finding peace in the everyday, always culminating on the winding road leading home. Press Will Easter has one of those voices that is like a home-cooked meal for the soul. Maybe it’s a bit rough around the edges, but that’s what makes it so believable, so relatable, so impactful. Will has the cool throwback rock edge of Tom Petty with the modern folk-Americana appeal of the Avett Brothers, but with something hard to put your finger on that could only be born out of the shadows and peaks of the North Carolina mountains. One iteration through a chorus and you’ll find yourself humming along, by the second time around you’ll be singing out loud, ready to hit the repeat button. Having said all that, where Will greatly excels is as a songwriter; he has a knack for capturing the reality of the human condition – the ugly and the beautiful, the mundane and the profound – and drawing meaning from those experiences. Will was hard at it during the pandemic, releasing a self-titled sophomore album of original songs earlier this year. This album is a true millennial coming-of-age masterwork – a stroke of genius to anybody who has grown up in rural America and experienced the inevitable hard knocks of love and life. Will invites the listener to share in his journey – through the lessons learned from the mistakes of “childhood living” to facing the reality of figuring out how to make your way in the world. Sure, the passage into maturity is one tinged with bittersweet nostalgia, but Will’s outlook is one of hopeful expectancy. Will is admittedly not one for clichés – but if he’ll allow me this one: it’s not about the destination, but the journey – enjoying the time traveling down that ever-flowing river that is life. That’s the metaphor that is so gracefully interwoven throughout this album. -Jones House Culture and Community Center Iris Marlowe is a singer-songwriter from Chicago, IL. It's a folk song from the record that focuses on the reflection and acceptance you feel when you outgrow the place you grew up in.

After playing together for two years the band took a break from the stage and lead singer, Mitch Stewart, went back into the studio to create and craft a set of new songs that are set to be released as singles during 2021 and beyond. Their sound invites comparisons to all-female folk groups like I’m With Her, but draws more influence from pop than bluegrass or old time. The band formed in 2014, when all members were in their mid-to-late 20s. Despite what felt like a late start in music, Honey Magpie pursued performing and recording wholeheartedly. They gained early success in the Triangle when they won the band contest at the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival in 2015. They released their debut album Honey Magpie in 2017, and have since been featured in the Oak City Sessions video series and on WUNC’s The State of Things. Their single “Undecided” premiered on Pop Matters in January 2020. Their second album Midnight Morning draws from a richer range of musical influences and boasts a higher production level than Honey Magpie. Listeners will recognize elements of 90s rock, 60s pop, country, and femme-fronted indie pop, supported by a full rhythm section of bass, drums, guitar, and keys. Anyone experiencing a “quarter-life crisis" will relate to the album’s mix of joy, angst, and reflection on life, and fans of all ages will love the new depth in the band’s sound.

After several comps and EPs, his 2011 release, Greenwood, reintroduced Stevie to Americana and folk listeners with the autobiographical tale of his journey to Greenwood to mark the grave of then unhonored Robert Johnson.

On his latest studio venture, the Asheville, NC native packs a punch with six new tracks that boast some of the most electrifying arrangements you’ll hear all year. On the heels of his 2018 LP release “Family Dynamo,” Scotchie is set to unveil his most mature and sonically diverse collection entitled “Everyone Everywhere” on Friday, June 26. With heavy themes like corporate greed and inequality prominently featured in the condemnatory track “Funny Money,” more playful tunes like the sweet retro-rock inspired “Natural Romantic” offer listeners a much needed respite from thinking about these turbulent times. An anthem in its own rite, leading single “Stepping Stone” sets the stage for a short yet pungent magical mystery ride of psychedelia, funk, and jam-adjacent rock that is nothing short of enrapturing. The standout “Fear Mongers,” starts with a hardy sample of Charlie Chaplin’s famed “The Great Dictator” speech (which required official approval from the late filmmaker’s rights-holding office in Paris), declaring that “the misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed” and segues perfectly with Scotchie’s “don’t wait / don’t hesitate / ‘cause the poor man can’t give what the rich man always takes,” artfully encapsulating the current climate. With such timely social commentary embedded into every track, the new EP could easily be mistaken for a response to the ongoing pandemic, though the album was actually recorded months prior. Still, Scotchie welcomes the serendipity, and encourages his listeners to adopt their own takes on the lyrics, especially when they can be utilized to reclaim hope. Scotchie concludes the album with a universal offering in the title track “Everyone Everywhere,” imploring "Even if you feel lonely / when this world is unkind / call on me, I'm sure you'll find / even when you feel you got nothing / everyone everywhere's got something.

He began by making his friends watch him perform to records of his dad’s band, Four Saints. He progressed by playing the trumpet in various school bands, singing in the choir, and performing in musicals. In his 20’s, Stephen was inspired by his brother, Scot Evans, who was the bassist/vocalist in the regionally successful band, Floating Men, from Nashville, TN. So Stephen started his own rock band, Mean Season, in the late 80’s where he began honing his songwriting skills on the guitar. After a few years of local success and radio play in Tallahassee, FL, the band moved to Atlanta, GA to increase their success. Unfortunately, the band broke up, and left Stephen to try his hand at performing solo around Atlanta. Soon the jammed highways of the big city drove him to the beautiful mountain town of Asheville, NC in 1996, where he quickly began soaking in the creative influence of his amazing surroundings. After many years of vacillating between being a professional musician and being building a nest in Asheville, Stephen has focused on his love for creating and performing music. In June of 2015, Stephen released his debut CD, “Something to Bleed”, with his band, the True Grits. The record received local and national praise for its passion and creativity. The band members are Brian Shoemaker (bass/electric guitar) Sam Hess (drums) and Woodstock (mandolin), along with special guests: Halli Anderson of River Whyless (violin/backing vocals), his brother, Scot Evans of Floating Men (bass on ‘1000 Roses), and his mother, Barbara Evans (backing vocals on ‘Sound’). The latest EP release, “Under the Bridge” came out in 2017 to positive reception and local radio play as well. This record was engineered by Kyle Corbett, who can occasionally be seen joining the True Grits to provide colorful lead guitar for the live band shows. The EP has 5 songs that range from rock to folk rock and describe an appreciation of Stephen's time in Asheville. Shawn Duxbury, Stephen's former bandmate in Mean Season, is a guest Grit performing lead acoustic guitar on the song 'Waiting'. The last track, 'A Rose for Emily', is a cover song written by Jeff Holmes & the Floating Men, and is based on the short story by William Faulkner of the same name. Stephen’s strong melodic songwriting style is a blend of creative imagery of darkness and hopeful optimism. There is no denying the passion that shines through with his powerful vocals and lyrics. Songs like ‘The Garden’, ‘Cherokee Hills’, ‘1000 Roses’ and ‘Shining Star’ are beacons of his folk rock songcraft. With some local radio play on WNCW 88.7, 103.7 WPVM, and 98.1 The River, and upcoming shows with the True Grits as well as solo shows spreading around the Southeast, be sure to check out what Stephen Evans wants to share with you.

With 2 ½ years of touring under their belt, the band’s feel-good, modern meets vintage sound, have earned them a reputation as one of the region’s most promising independent acts. Lead singer and keyboardist, Billy Litz’s rootsy influences and vulnerable compositions are embroidered, garnished, and decked out by a powerhouse soul band. The rhythm section, Tommy Moore and Sean McCann aggressively usher in a tight jazz and R&B influence, while guitarist, Chris Everett, brings the group to the next level with his rock-ribbed feel. In 2017 the band was approached by gold and platinum mixer and producer Eric “Mixerman” Sarafin (Ben Harper, the Broadcast, Pharcyde) about making a record which has set the ball rolling at a different pace. Hustle Souls’ eclectic sound will soon come together on their debut full-length album, “Color.”

They are affectionately called Chatter and Chitter on their mother’s popular Appalachian blog Blind Pig & the Acorn. The girls enjoyed a musical influence literally from their arrival home from the hospital. Jerry Wilson, their grandfather, who they call Pap, was a musical legend in their neck of the woods. Jerry performed for many years as part of The Wilson Brothers. The duo performed gospel music in the polished high harmonies of the classic brother duet style. They performed at churches, festivals, homecomings, and benefits throughout the south. Over the years they won many awards including the 1998 North Carolina Heritage Award. They were also featured in publications such as “The Old-Time Herald”. The girls often tell the story of laying in their bedroom floor with ears pressed tightly to the floor to hear the sounds of music flowing up from the basement as Pap and his band practiced. Katie says “Mama would make us go to bed but as soon as the lights were out we’d sneak from the covers, lay in the floor, and let the music lull us to sleep.” The Pressley Girls began singing in church with other children and gradually began to sing alone with Pap accompanying them on guitar. At about the same time, Corie and Katie joined the John C. Campbell Folk School Clogging Team. Staying with the JCCFS Cloggers for over seven years, the girls then joined up with the Kudzu Kickers Clogging Team. Becoming proficient in the traditional Appalachian Dance Style seemed to help solidify the girls rhythm for music. The family band evolved into Pap, Paul (Pap’s youngest son and the girls’ uncle), Tipper (Pap’s only daughter and the girls’ mother), Ben and Mark (sons of Pap’s oldest son Steve and cousins of the girls’), and Corie and Katie. In the beginning, the twins could hardly be tied down to sing a song or two with the group before they ran off to play. But as time passed, each girl picked up her own instrument and learned the art of singing harmony from Pap and Paul. These days, The Pressley Girls, Paul, and Tipper are making the music they were raised on and ensuring the tradition of Appalachian music is continued.

As a writer, her songs tend toward the confessional or autobiographical, the type we most often hear accompanied by an acoustic guitar. But O’Shea’s husky, low-toned moan is buoyed instead by her skeletal banjo playing.” -The Greenville Journal Known best for her hauntingly poignant lyricism and masterful vocal play, Kathryn has been featured by Sofar Sounds, WPVM Radio, WNC Original Music Podcast, and more. Last fall, she opened for the internationally renowned Los Angeles-based artist Terra Naomi at 7 Stages Theatre in Atlanta, then moved home shortly after and placed 2nd overall in the 11th annual Brown Bag Songwriter’s Competition at The Asheville Music Hall. Kathryn is currently recording her debut studio EP with M.G. O'Shea, a talented audio engineer who just so happens to be her big brother. Last summer, the two worked together to produce Kathryn's debut single, “Snow." Immersive Atlanta premiered the track wrote the following: "The moment Kathryn O’Shea’s enormous voice slips into the jaunty bustle of ‘Snow,’ you’ll surely wonder what record label she’s gunning for. With a timbre as dynamic as Florence Welsh, the singer/songwriter strips back the sentimental mush from falling snow to tell a clever tale about getting holed in for the winter; even in just four minutes, she fleshes out a character who wrestles with more than just frozen desire.”
