New Zealand Cricket is poised to decide whether to keep domestic T20 cricket as is, form a new privatise franchise league, or bid for expansion spots across the Tasman. The Chiefs crashed from a 24-7 lead to fall 33-24 to the Brumbies in Super Rugby in Canberra.  The visitors were on course to upset prop James Slipper's record 203rd game with 24 minutes remaining, before three tries in ten minutes changed the course of the game for the Brumbies.  The home side then capped the win with a Corey Toole try with a minute left.  Chiefs Coach Jono Gibbes told Piney they have to look at the error rate.  “We we’re inaccurate and we gave the ball back to them after only one phase ... we gave them opportunities to get back in the game, and you know, a good team like that, you do that, you invite danger.”   LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A milestone moment for Auckland FC as they host Macarthur this afternoon, bringing up their 50th match in football's A-League.  Defender Francis de Vries has been there every for game since the team's entry to the competition at the start of last season.  He says it's a privilege to be part of the Black Knights squad.  De Vris told Piney the team’s consistency can be attributed to the way they break things down week by week and look at what each person needs to do individually and what the team needs to do as a whole.  “If you can consistently do that and then have quality as we do within the squad, then it’s a great recipe for success.”  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Hurricanes gave the Highlanders a thumping in Dunedin.  Claiming victory 50-7, they ran eight tries to one to stay atop the Super Rugby ladder – their biggest win over the Highlanders.  Though he was moved to fullback after a groin injury, first five Ruben Love told Piney that he wants to have a crack at the number 10 role once again.  “I grew up as a 10 and I started at the Hurricanes as a 10 ... New Zealand’s oldest rugby club is scrapping all junior fees in a bid to keep kids on the field.   Nelson Rugby Football Club says the decision’s been brewing for a couple of seasons, but the support of the community means they can finally move forward with it.   Junior club captain Lisa Trusler told Piney that families all over are struggling financially at the moment, and sport is one of those things that unfortunately falls off the end.  “We just want to do whatever we can to get people back into it.”   LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Warriors smashed the Sydney Roosters 42-18 in front of a sold-out home crowd to open their season in league's NRL with a bang.  Playmakers Chanel Harris-Tavita and Tanah Boyd had their hands in three tries each. The Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics have just wrapped up the competition, but the show isn't over yet.  The Winter Paralympics get under way on March 6th, and one athlete is no stranger to the competition.  Alpine Paralympic Skier Corey Peters is headed for his fourth competition, and he told Jason Pine that he's on a good streak and is keen to get back on the slopes in Italy.  "It's just been tracking really well, so excited to see what, see what I can do in the next couple of weeks."
