PASSION PROJECT: Encyclopedia Madonnica feat. Matthew Rettenmund

E

Viktor Devonne presents: PASSION PROJECT, a series devoted to artists and creators behind really neat stuff. The latest episode is ENCYCLOPEDIA MADONNICA, with the author Matthew Rettenmund, who published his first edition in 1995, and then again in 2005, and the latest September of 2022. A literal a-z on the subject of global superstar Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, born in Bay City Michigan and subsequent queen of the pop world (and one of our last remaining icons who began their domination in the 1980s), the book is a mammoth collection of trivia, fascinating factoids, speculation, and commentary on the star's body of work, love life, activism, narcissism, fragility, strengths, and missteps along the way. One of the most "fun" icons to be a fan of, there are just as many heights (Blond Ambition! Evita! Hung Up!) as fails (Sean Penn! Body of Evidence! TikTok?) and projects that must be re-evaluated (Bloodhounds of Broadway! Sex! Bedtime Stories!) after loads of criticism was heaped upon them during their initial run. Rettenmund is one of the great masters behind maintaining perspective on Madonna's legacy whilst keeping a clear head on the present day. The result in the definitive encyclopedic compendium, in the latest and greatest form with exclusive interviews, culled quotes, forgotten lore, and necessary snark. Matt talks about how the initial publication almost never happened, his favorites and less favorites (what beloved M track is he less than delighted by? You may gasp.), and how he managed to get a snapshot with the legend herself (and what she said to him!) during the tour and press events he experienced and compares notes with Viktor on whether or not she really should try another movie. Viktor Devonne presents PASSION PROJECT: Who Done It, the Clue Documentary feat. Jeff C. Smith

E

Viktor Devonne presents: PASSION PROJECT, a series devoted to artists and creators behind really neat stuff. The premiere episode is WHO DONE IT? THE CLUE DOCUMENTARY, with the director/editor/guide Jeff C. Smith, who began his journey in 2017. The final product is a full length documentary now in select theaters, and on its way to VOD. With behind-the-scenes gab from the folks behind the cult classic Clue (Jonathan Lynn! Lesley Ann Warren! Michael McKean!) including extensive conversations on the almost-was (Carrie Fisher as Miss Scarlet? That elusive 4th ending?), loving tribute to the energy of the people who made it happen (the costumes! the sets! the script!), and grateful acknowledgement of the fans who keep the mayhem going, this is the thus-only definitive documentation of the history of the quinessential board game murder mystery comedy. Jeff talks about how the idea formulated, how he got in contact with comedy legends to be on camera, who declined and how nicely, and the road to the movie screen, where it recently showed on both coasts and is now emerging all over. "It's not just a movie based on a board game …anymore." ECHOES: We-Boo-Lesque 1&2 feat. Maggie McMuffin and more

E

Re-upload of "WE-Boo-Lesque No. 1 and No. 2" -- Burlesque Ghost Stories, special bonus series from WEBurlesque the Podcast, hosted by Viktor Devonne featuring nightlife professionals telling their true encounters with... something out there. - Episode No 1 (originally released September 2, 2020) a) Ghost in the Strip ClubMaggie McMuffin is a professional performing artist who holds a BFA in Theatre from the University of Montana and combines her theatrical training with her experience as a professional sex worker. Her skills as a clown, sketch, and physical comedian have enabled her to create memorable characters for ambient performances in burlesque, cabaret, and as a go go dancer. Before she came to new York city, she was a stripper in Missula in 2012. This is her story. b) Haunted Hallway in Bosnia JZ Bich says they erupted from the malting Balkans and was washed on the shores of the New York City to become one of its night creatures. They have been performing in NYC for over a decade, as well as nationally and internationally. For 11 years, jz was a producer and a host of HyperGender Caburlesque the influential monthly, post neo burlesque show. While living in Bosnia in the mid-90s, they had an experience. c) The Rotting Hand Dewie Decimator is an entertainer currently living in Massachusetts. Long before she joined Rogue Burlesque and became, as she refers to herself, Boston's worst drag king, she grew up in New Haven, Connecticut and had this terrifying experience. - Episode No. 2 (originally released September 9, 2020) a) The Old Woman in the Mirror / The Man in the Top HatNoctua has been known to stages as "The Empathy Smackdown of Drag and Burlesque" while living in New York City. Back before the wigs, the eyelashes, and the heels, they experienced two silent figures in their grandmother's Brooklyn home. While these visions are shared experiences by others in their own homes, we have only just begun comparing notes to discover the commanalities of our visitations. b) The Unphotographable Forest From the city of angels, she is dubbed the "existential party girl of burlesque." Seraphina Wilder, known for "legs so long it's gotta be a sin," has performed nationwide as an experienced and unique burlesque dance. Before she took on nerdlesque, and work as a DJ, she had a unexplainable experience alone in the woods. c) The Lady on Fire Incorporating song, dance, drag, and gender exploration, Satine S'Allumer has appeared on stages from Philadelphia to Brisbane to New York City. Long before they were burning up stages, they had connections with the supernatural—and they would follow Satine for years to come. ... WEBurlesque Podcast Network is the creation of Viktor Devonne.
