S2 Ep 30Sometimes You Will Be The Only Woman Among Men, Show Them What You Know
ESponsored by JCPenney Salons https://jobs.jcp.com/search/salon-professionals/jobs Interview with Carolyn Aronson Carolyn Aronson is a successful entrepreneur, philanthropist and the founder and CEO of It’s a 10 Haircare, one of the only female-owned professional hair care brands in the world. A self-made entrepreneur, Aronson began her career with 20+ years as a hair stylist and salon owner, and continues to hold licenses in multiple states. It’s a 10 Haircare was born out of her frustration with brands that produced dozens of products with single benefits and hard-to-follow claims. She envisioned a line that was for everyone and delivered full, salon-quality results in just one bottle. She began with a star product, Miracle Leave-In, and the line quickly rose to fame through pro hair stylists, who shared the cult-favorite product with their clients. Now a successful, global hair product company with a passionate celebrity and consumer following, It’s a 10 Haircare products are sold in more than 25,000 professional independent salons and 15,000 professional salon chains like Ulta, and Regis. Carolyn’s brand has helped women and men across the globe look and feel their best, while also allowing Carolyn to pursue her key priorities: Making the world a better place, raising a successful family and creating a culture that embraces diversity. With her kind and creative nature, giving back to the communities that have supported It’s a 10 Haircare is also a priority. A Tease Talks Series: The Vision is the Ultimate Goal But You Don’t Have To Start There
bonusEAre you overwhelmed by building your business but determined to make it work at whatever cost? Welcome to Tease Talks. This, once a month, digital media series is focused on providing business centered bite-sized pieces of content for those in the beauty industry. Working to connect with hair stylists, aestheticians, makeup artists, massage therapists and salon owners from around the world to educate and inspire pushing further in the beauty industry. Tease Talks will cover anything and everything that YOU want to hear or know. Head to @readthetease on socials to tell us who you want to hear from next! Produced by The Tease alongside Volume Up by The Tease. This month on Tease Talks we are talking with Sharie Wilson and Tonya Thompson, co-founders of DreamGirls, to talk about owning multiple salons and product innovation! DreamGirls is a women-owned, family-owned, and Black-owned salon and hair care line. DreamGirls Co-Founders Sharie Wilson and Tonya Thompson are on a mission to debunk the myth that black women *can’t* have long, healthy hair and change the negative narrative around natural hair and instead, be champions for textured hair. Thompson and Wilson are professional hairstylists with over a decade of experience who are recognized for their reputation of having “magic hair-growing hands.” They’ve made it not only their expertise but passion to help black women's hair reach its greatest potential in both strength and length through the DreamGirls Healthy Hair Program and product line. Their journey began in 2001 when Sharie moved from her hometown, Los Angeles to Sacramento to pursue a job in corporate America, only to find herself returning home after long workdays to do what she truly loved...hair. Tonya has always had a passion for helping women gain confidence and feel beautiful by doing their hair and with an entrepreneurial spirit at a young age. She was the girl who did everyone’s hair before school dances and even casually on the weekends. In 2006, Tonya’s love for helping women feel beautiful through hair came full circle after Sharie presented her with a business venture of selling hair extensions. This quickly led to both sisters starting an apprenticeship to receive their cosmetology license and opening up the first DreamGirls salon which allowed them to get back to doing what they loved most- hair. The DreamGirls product line was released at the start of COVID-19 and helped provide hair care solutions to everyone at home who could no longer visit a salon. Since then, the product line expanded into curl and styling products as well as accessories for all hair types. DreamGirls products are color & straightener safe with UV protection and are infused with key ingredients that maintain and promote healthy hair growth such as Peppermint Oil, Pro Vitamin B5, Soybean Oil and Lavender while leaving out Parabens, Sulfates, and Sodium Chloride. Sharie and Tonya are also co-founders of Mixed Institute of Cosmetology & Barber, a school dedicated to teaching students how to style all hair textures. https://www.dghair.com/ https://www.instagram.com/dreamgirlshair/ https://www.instagram.com/healthyhaircaresystem/ https://www.instagram.com/mixededu/ https://www.instagram.com/mixedinstitutebarbers/ https://www.instagram.com/iamshariewilson/ https://www.instagram.com/hairbytonya/ More from TheTease: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/readthetease/ (readthetease) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kellyehlers/ / (KellyEhlers) Web: https://www.thetease.com (TheTease.com) Credits: Tease Talks is a Tease Media production. EInterview with Larry Foster Larry Foster is Vice-President of Education, Compliance and Student Services at Tricoci University of Beauty Culture. Before Tricoci University, he served as Vice-President of Empire Education Group Commissioner for NACCAS. Larry has spent over 25 years in the beauty industry as a Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Massage Therapist, Educator and Spa Owner. Tricoci University was founded in 2004 by beauty industry legend Mario Tricoci, who built a highly successful chain of upscale salons and day spas under the “Mario Tricoci Hair Salon & Day Spa” and “Mario Tricoci, Too” brands. Mario conceived and launched a brand new company, Tricoci University of Beauty Culture, to introduce fresh and innovative cosmetology and beauty school curriculum, providing students with advanced technical skills, ethics, professionalism and leadership values. Due to rapid growth in the salon and day spa industry, particularly in the more upscale segments of the market, salon owners are asking for new technicians to possess a higher level of technical, customer service and client-building skills. Tricoci University of Beauty Culture is filling this need using its beauty schools to produce salon-ready professionals that are eager to start their successful careers in cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology, and as teachers. Tricoci University of Beauty Culture believes success for students and associates results from its people-centered culture. S1 Ep 98So, Do You Really Want That Color?
EInterview with Josh Comeaux Josh Comeaux has always been into styling his own hair. For his 13th birthday, he asked his parents for a pair of clippers, and in the summer of 1998 he got his wish. After continually cutting hair through high school, in 2005, realizing cosmetology school education was brief and inexpensive, he decided to enroll. For his 29th birthday, he set a goal that he would open a salon in 1 year. Ten months later “Hair” opened up to the public. From there his empire only grew, he decided to create his own hair oil, enter Monte Rio Hair & Body Oil. And when he saw a need to help stylists create virally trending looks, ColorMap was born. This patented technology helps artists visually see results before application and is used by numerous educators across the globe to teach color theory! As he moves forward with building Josh Comeaux Hair, his goal is to educate and motivate more stylists to be their best. https://joshcomeaux.com/ https://www.joshcomeauxhair.com/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshcomeaux/ https://www.instagram.com/joshcomeauxhair/ News from TheTease.com https://www.thetease.com/how-to-do-your-hair-according-to-these-five-viral-core-aesthetics/ https://www.thetease.com/the-best-expert-approved-shampoos-to-gift-this-holiday-season/ https://www.thetease.com/fall-hair-trends-we-cant-get-enough-of/ More from TheTease: Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/readthetease/ (readthetease) Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/kellyehlers/ (KellyEhlers) Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/eljeffreycraig/ (eljeffreycraig) Web: http://www.thetease.com/ (TheTease.com) Email: [email protected] Credits: Volume Up is a Tease Media production. S1 Ep 95Changing The Industry. Texture Vs Race
EInterview with Keya Neal A stylist whose passion for color and texture is unmatched with over 28 years of experience, Keya Neal leads a national revolution breaking textural boundaries that have long separated those in the hair industry. Keya’s passion for hair color and education led to the conception of Kolour Kulture, an educational resource for stylists who are particularly interested in the science of hair color and how it interacts with various hair textures. Keya launched her cornerstone education series “Texture vs Race” at The Energizing Summit hosted by the American Board of Certified Hair Colorist (ABCH), which has since become a nationwide movement with a summit of its very own. Texture Vs Race has amassed the support of top industry influences, including but not limited to the board of the American Board of Certified Hair Colorists. Through the evolution of Texture vs Race and her REPAIRations movement, Keya is at the helm of the salon industry's diversity and inclusion movement, encouraging "uncomfortable" conversations surrounding race and hair texture. Now, Keya acts as a color educator, texture expert, and DEI consultant, working to create a more inclusive and understanding industry. The fourth annual Texture VS Race Summit tackles the salon industry's long-standing textural discrimination and favoritism towards straight hair through hands-on education and anti-racism coaching. Each year, hopeful stylists graduate from beauty school with a standardized education that leaves them wholly unprepared and undereducated to serve a rapidly diversifying clientele. The Texture VS Race Summit, hosted by salon industry DEI consultant and color educator Keya Neal, offers education on cutting, coloring, and styling all hair textures. https://www.kolourkulture.com https://www.instagram.com/texturevsrace/ https://www.instagram.com/keyaartistically/?hl=en News from TheTease.com https://www.thetease.com/the-freehand-haircut-is-taking-over-tiktok/ https://www.thetease.com/mayvenns-brittany-johnson-shares-her-expert-wig-shopping-tips/ https://www.thetease.com/get-zendayas-pfw-glam-from-celeb-makeup-artist-sheika-daley/ More from TheTease: Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/readthetease/ (readthetease) Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/kellyehlers/ (KellyEhlers) Instagram: @https://www.instagram.com/eljeffreycraig/ (eljeffreycraig) Web: http://www.thetease.com/ (TheTease.com) Email: [email protected] Credits: Volume Up is a Tease Media production.
